My daughter is a sushi fan and we went there a couple of nights ago. Ambience is welcoming and service is great; different menu choices at the bar or seated.Food is really good and we will definitely come back soon!

By far the best sushi in OC if not all of SoCal. You can spend alot more going to other high end sushi spots. The quality of fish at Jizake is on par with the best of the best - same goes for the skill of chefs they are on par with the best of the best.BTW in the pic we loaded the blue fin up with Kizami, chef didnt serve it like that (for all concerned sushi aficionados).Only recommendation to Jizake is please bring back Karatamba!

We absolutely love this place!! The atmosphere is so awesome and everyone seems to know everyone. The sushi chefs are very funny and personable if you sit at the bar. I highly recommend getting a reservation though because we didnt the first time we went there and we had to wait close to an hour. It is very popular!! The rolls were got were the moonlight roll (the one with asparagus) and the viva Mexico ( lobster and cheese and fried). Those are our two favorite specialty rolls! So good!!!!

The space is beautiful and comfy. My Hawaiian roll was pretty good. However, the sashimi combination was way too pricey compared to other Japanese restaurants. The “crunch” on the crunch roll was a bit soggy.

Delicious sushi. One thing that is pretty annoying is that they haven’t paid for a music service so there are about 5 minutes of commercials blasting in your ear every 10 minutes.

We ate here a couple of weeks ago, and plan on returning soon. My daughter and I waited for restaurant to open, because my wife was craving sushi. So worth the wait. Fresh, tasty and correctly made. We noticed that they were very busy on a Sunday night, which was a good thing to see. Pricing was very reasonable as well. Best spot, in my opinion, in the local area.

Delicious but...I usually do not write negative reviews but unfortunately I feel like I have to review my experience.Monday night went with one of my friends for some sushi to celebrate his birthday. It was my first time, the place was recommended by one of my friends.The dishes were delicious but the size of the rolls was about 1/3 of the size that other sushi places serve. And the fish on top of the rolls was about 1/2in/1/2in. Not sure if this is normal for this place but we felt like we got robbed.I hope was just a one time thing and just for us, but definitely I will not go back again.

Love this restaurant with my whole heart!! The staff is always friendly and kind. The sushi is very delicious :) the sushi chefs once let me, my mom, and other customers at the bar stay after closing. We played games, made lots of toasts with sake, and had fun. We go often and are never disappointed.

My husband and I go here for date night sometimes.. Rolls are good, but very small. They charge a good amount for a roll that has barely any fish or stuffing into a thin layer of rice. The taste is good, but feel other sushi places are just as good and we leave satisfied.

My husband and I tried this place based on the reviews. The food and service are fine, the outside area lacks atmosphere and you hear the rushing cars- but the temperature was pleasant outside. Normally our bill is around $60 but here we paid $100 which I wasnt expecting considering 2 rolls and one happy hour salad were vege. Im afraid we wont be back.

No place better on this planet!! Theyve got it all, from the most glorious special rolls Ive ever eaten, to the most bomb teriyaki chicken, all the way through to the tastiest miso soup everrr! Follow that up with some of the coolest dudes Ive ever met behind the bar, supported by their awesome servers and greeters and youre having the time of your life! ... or just dinner... if thats what you prefer.. super cuddy little location makes it the local best kept secret, or most told of place you have to go to... it should be noted that if memory serves me, I found myself there for a solid 3 weeks straight at least once a day.. sometimes twice... think about it...😳😏😬

This is the best Sushi in south county. Consistently amazing fish served at the right temp and portion to emphasize texture and flavor. Uni is grade A or they dont serve it, rolls are creative and delicious, and good selection of drinks. Buy the chef a beer and have a great time!

Been going here for over 6 months and we love it a lot. Hiro the owner is almost always working the sushi bar along with Sei, Taka, and Go who are all wonderful people and super fun. The wait staff is also awesome (especially Marine 💙). The sushi always tastes amazing and fresh and they definitely know what to do with it (we only get sushi and sashimi). Feels like a big family in there!

I went here last night and it was really good. The fish was all very fresh and tasty. When we got there the place was really crowded but everything was properly following CDC and California guidelines. We ordered a lot of Nigiri and Sashimi which was all great. The waitresses were very attentive, and even let us order past last call which we gladly thank them for. I’d most likely go there again.

My husband and I really enjoy visiting Jizake. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming right from the moment you walk in the door. The sushi was phenomenal as well. High quality and very reasonably priced. Service was fast and I cannot think of anything else you could ask for out of restaurant. Looking forward to returning soon!

Weve been living in South County for the past 47 years. Sushi places have come and gone. But this place is very special. As low key in atmosphere, but super high quality and freshness taste and presentation. Its only open for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, which is my time to go. If you want something different try the Animal Style. Its not on the menu but it is definitely over the top. Enjoy a little secret spot in South County

Had some amazing authentic sushi here. One of my favorites. Unfortunately when the bill came, I was presented with only a total amount and not an itemized bill. I asked for it and 10 minutes later I got it. I don’t know why it took 10 minutes. When I checked it I was over charged about 20%. Extremely not happy about this as I felt that the combination of not showing my bill and the error puts this on suspicion of fraud. Please check your bills here!

Expensive and probably the tiniest sashimi Ive ever seen in my life, and Ive been to a couple sushi places. Sashimi was $14 for four tiny little pieces. Rolls were not convincing either. Quality was ok (very weak wasabi, though), but the portions simply dont justify the price. Expected way more, given the high rating.

Paying homage to a multitude of traditional Japanese dishes, a pretty good selection of fish and are deeper appreciation for the subtlety of chiso make this Bastion of Japanese Cuisine what are the best in South Orange County. Yes they have weird hours, yes theres usually a line to get in but theres a good reason for it. If you go, ordering the black cod!

Best sushi around. It could be 5 o’clock on a Monday and this place will be packed with people. I’ve eaten sushi from all over the area and Jizake is the best imo. Staff is quick, attentive and always friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone. This review is for the Jizake Sushi in Costa Mesa.I arrived when restaurant was empty. The waitress attempted to seat me at the worst table for no particular reason. She started asking if Id like to order appetizers or drinks before Id even sat down ant taken my jacket off. (I hadnt even looked at the menu yet). The waitress proceeded to hover and watch over me as I looked at the menu which was extremely uncomfortable. When I asked what the difference between Agedashi Tofu and Tofu Nugget she had no idea. She had to go back and ask, then came back and kept repeating over and over that one was stirred as if this would explain it. The waitress also kept coming back about every five minutes. In short, the waitress was in my face the entire time, interrupting my conversation and lingering too long each time. She seemed extremely inexperienced or just clueless, and made being there very irritating.Aside from the poor service, the food was not good. The portions were very stingy. The pieces of fish on the sushi were all only about 1x1 in size and WARM. The fish did not taste or look fresh. They kept falling off the rice when Id pick them up. The rolls looked cute, but were over handled and tiny. Plus they didnt hold together at all when picked up with chopsticks. I ordered a miso soup. The portion was tiny and the soup looked and tasted as if the base had come straight out of a powdered mix - it was extremely salty, and the tofu in it was sour and spongy tasting.I couldnt understand how this place has 4 & 5 star reviews until I saw that on each table there is a card that offers a discount on your meal if you LIKE them on Yelp.The food is not that good, although it looks cute. It is way overpriced and the service is terrible. I wouldnt recommend this for your money. Try Nana San up the road instead

This place was extremely fresh. My boyfriend and I order 5 different kinds of rolls and edamame. Viva Mexico rolls was different but very good with melted cheese! The Hawaiian roll was my favorite. We got a cali roll that was packed full. The crunchy roll always great. The double double roll was my second favorite. The service was top notch. The waiters are really on it! We got there right when they opened for dinner (5:30pm). We were seated instantly. We were served and done eating in 30mins (yes we were hungry). Awesome place that was worth it. (I have also uploaded a picture of our table with all the rolls).

Great food in a tiny spot where you can get a great view of the chef prepare the food. Be careful with food that is steaming hot, shoveling it in all at once will burn and make it impossible to enjoy the remaining courses, even though its almost worth it to witness the chef go why you do that??
