Excellent place. Food and service was outstanding. The place is unassuming from the outside. But the quality of food and service can’t be beat. I’ve been passing this place for years. Recently invited for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and cleanliness. The experience was so good, that took my family for lunch the following week.😎👊🏽

My family and I love this place! We have been coming here for several years because the food is delicious, and the staff are wonderful. 💯The price is good for the amount and quality you get. They dont do all you can eat, but it usually comes out to cost less in the end than what all you can eat would cost us (usually around $30 a person).

The first time I came here I was on a date and it made for a wonderful atmosphere. The rules are all very fresh, delicious, and will definitely keep it coming back for more. Additionally theyre all 50% off according to a promotion they have going on right now. I had the caterpillar wall which has baked ill on top, the rainbow sushi roll which is a assortment of fish on top, and the oh my God roll which lives up to its name. It was so delicious that I have returned multiple times and even took my friends from France here recently to try the sushi here. They were just as impressed. Whether you are doing solo dining or coming here for a date night this is a perfect place I even see people bring their young families here as well. This place is definitely worth it and so far the service for the staff has been wonderful every time Ive come so I highly recommend it. This is now my favorite place to eat

Paid $16 for 2 sad looking rolls made by what appeared to be a cheap Chinese restaurant. California roll was ok, The tuna one tasted old and it felt like it came off the buffet table. 1⭐ cause I felt misleaded by the reviews and pictures, and because I had to throw it away. Also my order took less than 5min which suggest it was definitely premade. 👎👎👎👎 If rest manager refunds or remakes my order Im willing to change my review

I hadn’t been to this place in years, we stopped in today and I was impressed. The inside is much nicer now. Service and food were excellent. Really impressed how different this place has become. No all you can eat at this time but they made up for it on the reasonably priced rolls. Will be coming more often.

Updated furnishing and decor has really brightened Joes up. Now it matches the tasty food and great service!Pricing is very reasonable, service is always excellent, preparation and presentation are very good. Never had a bad piece of sushi and Ive eaten here a LOT!Parking lot is half paved and half gravel. Little challenging for handicapped if they try to park on the side, rather than the fully paved area in the back.Funny name for a sushi restaurant, but well worth the trip! This isnt OC uppity sushi, but a low key, nice sushi place with reasonable pricing and fascistic staff.

Im giving this restaurant a 3 because their food was decent but holy hell Im not coming back due to the ambience. Only thing about the food is that too many of their rolls have imitation crab meat. FYI SOME SUSHI IS 50% OFF THIS IS NOT AN AYCE PLACE. Tip is also automatically added to the check. The seating is too close together and its awkward. Wait staff were shimmying between the open tables. Its echoey and if theres a loud party nearby, it will be magnified.

So a group of us went here for a birthday. Its been many years since Ive been there and had a gift certificate from the Christmas of 2019. We got there to find out they no longer did all you can eat which was fine since everything was pretty much 50% off. The food was amazing just like remembered. When it came time to pay we tried using the gift certificate that was signed by whomever issued it and it also had no expiration date. The manager on duty said it could not be honored since they had new ownership. We tried explaining that it had no expiration and it was for Joes Sushi. The answer was still no and they didnt offer to give any help for this $50 certificate. Unfortunately even tho the food and service from our server was good we will no longer attend this place and neither will the others that were with us. So if you have a previous gift card dont bother trying to use it cuz nothing you say or do will help

Stopped by for our first time and I must say it was a great experience.. especially since it’s memorial weekend and everywhere is a little crowded. We decided we wanted a fresh meal and found Joe’s Sushi.. it had good reviews so we had to check it out… the welcoming was great and the service was amazing.. our server made great suggestions: protein roll and baked mussels.. the seafood 🦞 was really fresh… our rolls and baked mussels were made at a relatively 💨 pace but we were there at a good hour so little traffic For a holiday… Great experience and we plan on coming back!! Check it out… relaxed environment with friendly staff.. I enjoy restaurants where the staff is interactive with the guests.. makes for a better vibe ⭐️

First one in today. Excellent food, service, and prices.My only word of advice is on their tip included pricing. When you walk in, there is a noticeable sign that says the 15% tip is included.I didnt see it, but my wife did. When I went to pay the bill, she had to remind me and get clarification from the waitress.If you want great sushi, in a clean restaurant, with a very friendly staff, Id get here early as Im sure the place gets packed with customers.I will definitely come back.

Not sure if all AYCE sushi spots are gone but this location doesnt offer it. Not an All You Can Eat sushi spot. Just a heads up. The service was good, food was mediocre. The rice on the sushi kept coming apart, plates came out with long waits in-between, and the ramen noodles taste like cup of ramen broth and all.

We were a bit scared that there was no wait on a Friday night but we don’t regret stopping by. There’s a lot of rolls to choose from but the nigiri/sashimi menu was very limited. Even though they are no longer all you can eat, the menu is 50% off so for us it came out the exact amount we spend at other places for ayce. Me and my grandson went for dinner and had the all you could eat sushi, our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs. The rolls are very large, and quite delicious and presented beautifully. You must try the pink lady, my favorite. Service was good, I was a little surprised to be charged for what we didnt finish. However this tatic might discourage customers from overindulging, which makes sense. It would have been nice to have that mentioned as we ordered to our server, but hence this disclaimer was printed on the menu. I didnt dispute the extra 10$ charge, as service, food and atmosphere was pleasant. Just be aware, this is the restraunts policy. Took away one star for the extra charge, food was 5 star for sure though

This place is one of the better Sushi spots in downtown Riverside. Its prices are comparable to other sushi restaurants I have been too so the cost isnt too bad. Each place I have been sinces to have one thing that trumps the rest and at Joes its the quail egg shooters. If you never had one, here is the place where youll get the best. Staff is friendly and the homemade Sake is great. The biggest downside is parking when its busy and the wait area. The shop is small so I cant hate, but they do have a few items that was a miss for me. The biggest was the calamari.

New owners, but not the same great service. I placed a phone order, went in to pick it up and left, but when I got home I noticed I was short a roll, I called, they told me to come pick it up and I responded with Im already home Im not going back so I asked for a refund and the women response was we dont give refunds she said Ill give you credit for the next visit and I said fine. Went back a month later and asked about the roll they magically didnt know anything about it. The restaurant has been updated and everything looks clean and modern, but I feel it lost some of its charm.

2 stars, Sushi is so-so, The new ownership doesnt offer the All you can eat menu which was what kept us coming back in the past.The fun family feel is gone. I also enjoyed the loud music they used to play with pictures on the wall. Always made you feel at home. Its not the same anymore. Also noticed later into the night that gratuity was added 18% on top of me giving them another 20%. Something I guess we need to really start paying attention too. Now this spot is my favorite hands down sushi place in all Southern California theyre all OMG sushi is beyond phenomenal. The crazy thing about it is that you can only order one of those but my God I guess it just makes it that much better. Also love the California roll, Golden Tiger, Las Vegas, shrimp boat, starfish, and to add that give you free ice cream my favorites vanilla they are real good with birthdays. Original review is below, update here: still my favorite sushi, but all the half priced rolls have skyrocketed and you cant avoid a force 10% gratuity, even for takeout. The type of rolls that used to be $14 ish and are 50% off are now close to $10 each, and although I ordered by phone and picked up takeout, 10% was added in the bill, and the receipt I had to sign had a tip line suggesting more. The receipt you sign doesnt have a price breakdown so you have to sign without knowing what each costs, and I had to specifically ask for itemized to know why the price was so much higher than it used to be. Sushi still good, prices not really special anymore.Favorite sushi place in the riverside/corona area. Prices are great as well. But regardless of price, I still like this sushi the best

Took a gamble on this place since it was the only one open when I got off work and was really craving for some sashimi.. BUT $90 for small sashimi platter with basic, cheap fish (salmon, ahi tuna, octopus, TILAPIA) was just not it.. Although it seemed fresh and the lady was nice enough to accommodate my order 30 min before closing, I would have gotten something smaller but that was the smallest sashimi platter they offered, albeit 36pcs or something. Well, I guess it comes with 2 portions of salad and rice and miso soup (they were out) so that accounts for $40 worth 🤣The place itself was situated in a weird spot and the gravel on the parking lots not car-friendly either. Looked run down tbh. I’ll stick to my usual R91 off of the 15 and not cave in to my cravings when they’re closed. Better value, selections and taste.

I did not expect much but got a lot. I was meeting my son for lunch on Sunday. He had many good experiences at this favorite sushi place of his. Before he moved to the beach he had spent good times with his friends when they lived close by. When I walked in it was a spacious room with a kitchen that was open and huge. There were plenty of booths and comfortable table and chairs and that accommodated groups of families and friends. It was pretty well packed when I came in. I let my son order because I didn’t know what to get. between the both of us we devoured four rolls and each of them were delicious. The fish was fresh the rice was moist everything about the sushi roll was perfect. I have never had sushi so delicious and never probably will. The service was good considering there were so many people as there was so many takeouts that they had to take care of too.We vowed to go back next time we meet up and make this our all time favorite sushi restaurant.

Lunch on 11/06/22Let me start out by saying that I used to come here quite often and LOVED this PLACE. After not having been for a few years, we went again, and sadly, I really dont feel like I will be back.There are either New owners or its under new management management, either way, the warm welcoming atmosphere we once knew is no longer there. All the pictures of staff and patrons sharing good times that lined the walls are gone. In its place are cold, sterile walls.Its no longer AYCE, which I get. Covid and inflation has probably made that unsustainable, so I cant fault them. Most things are 50% off so its theoretically still a good deal except the quality of the food has gone down. I ordered a soft shell crab appetizer. The body was missing entirely, I was given only the legs, and they were covered in a thick tempura batter. My husband and I ordered some sushi rolls to share. Out of four, only one was really good, the Tokyo night roll. The rice tasted cold and old, like it was leftover from the night before.The service wasnt great either. Our server came to our table a few times, but always when we had food in our mouths, and never seemed to stick around long enough to hear if we needed something, we did a couple times. I ordered a plum wine, which is very tarsty, however, about ten plus minutes after we received our food, it still wasnt out, and I had to ask for it again. I wondered if I had said nothing if they would have tried to charge me for it. I also almost had to get a fork for a party member myself, as getting her attention long enough to ask seemed to be a little difficult. Lastly, they automatically add a 15% percent gratuity, regardless of party size. However, they base that 15% off of the total after tax, so its more like 18%.I know these all seem like petty things individually, but all together it was enough.For those who know what Joes was like, what its supposed to be like, and what it should be like still, dont go. Joes is dead, the spirit is dead, and I dont think itll ever be back.

This place has been awesome ever since I first came here. The food has been great, the hot sake (one of my favorites) is always one of my favorite drinks, and the atmosphere is always nice. Not too loud, non chaotic, just really chill and pleasant. Ive also had the pleasure of having a great attendant at this place numerous times named Danny. This guy has been awesome and there are other people whose service has also been great but I dont remember all of their names. Danny stood out because he also had conversation along with a great demeanor. Highly recommend!

Went for lunch with 3 coworkers shortly after they opened. Two ordered sushi, and the third and I ordered dishes with cooked items. They served the sushi right away, but it took about 30 minutes for the cooked dishes to come out. At the time we ordered there were around 4 other parties in the restaurant. The sushi orderers had finished long before and were just awkwardly waiting for us to get our food.My salad was nothing to write home about, but my coworkers that ordered sushi really liked their food.Its possible I missed it on the menu, but gratuity is automatically included. My biggest issue with that is the tip worked out to be approximately 44% (my salad was inexpensive, so even with the tax and tip the total wasnt crazy). They also have a tip line on their credit card receipts, so customers that dont pay close attention to theirs could potentially wind up tipping twice.

Fish is ok quality. All based on California rolls so there really aren’t any interesting rolls. The seaweed salad is horrendous! I don’t recommend. Aside from that they add 15% gratuity!!! Not based on size of party or total price of the bill just to everyone. That’s the most ridiculous scheme. Gratuity is based on the level of customer service and it’s optional. If ownership was smarter and not scheming, they would just increase the prices by 15% instead of forcing people to give a tip to avoid paying their employees their fare share. Also, their ordering pages still display 50% off prices but nothing is discounted. Again, these are pages printed out on regular paper. They can change them.

And got our first 2 items super quick ( like the old days) it was great at first! But then after our first 2 items got delivered, we waited about 15-20 minutes for every other item to be delivered. Then waited and waited for our last 2 items we ordered. One of which was the Baked Green Mussels, which was my most favorite item on the menu (before). They forgot about them 2 times, we had to ask 3 times until we got them, and when they were brought to our table. They were COMPLETELY burnt beyond eating! You could visibly see how burnt and bad they were yet, another random waiter set them down on the table and said “be careful they are hot!” No sir, they are BURNT!We complained to another random waiter (since it didn’t seem that we were assigned one) and he offered to take it off the bill, but didn’t really seem concerned. As we were leaving I realized all the men that were working the sushi bar were cleaning and using harsh chemicals like bleach that filled the whole air with the smell. (This was around 9:10) they close at 10. People were still eating and having to smell that! In conclusion, Joe’s was my favorite place in the whole world. But now I will not be going back. And I will be telling everyone who also used to love Joe’s that it is no longer the same.

Back in 4/25/2009 my wife and myself got married...and after that we all ended up here..for our Joes Sushi🍣 fix...we had been coming here few years before that.but it was always amazing Sushi.fresh delicious,, all you can eat,,we have since moved.and heard it closed.sad thing to hear..but then we heard it was open again under different owners...I would always tip the chefs as we came in...and we would get some items that I dont believe were on the menu...we are going to make a trip back to them again soon..

Been comming to this sushi spot for years now, (Love it) never dissapoints me. Yes, occasionally it has off days just like all of us, is not a perfect business. So if you like to eat mostly rice in the rolls, little pieces of fish, little bit of crab, and horrible service then Joes is NOT for you. And for all of those people complaining about closing hours, its the price to pay if you like to eat fresh, or would you like to eat old raw fish instead? The sushi doesnt appear magically on the plate. The sushi chefs need time to prepare and rest. So I like that. If I cant make it before 1pm then I plan ahead, or better yet.. get taco bell. In conclusion and in my personal opinion its the best Ive ever tried around the area of riverside! Totally recomend. It never dissapoints! Best sushi in the inland empire! So give them a chance, you will love it!!!

Ive tried many AYCE sushi places and I cant help but find myself coming back to Joes over any other place. I love the food here and the staff is awesome. Cool vibe during dinner, and chill/relax vibe during lunch. They probably have the best baked mussels of all the places Ive tried.

I have been to a few sushi places around the country and joes is definitely my favorite. All you can eat with an amazing selection. Fairly priced for most sushi spots. I highly suggest trying their volcano and pizza roll. Not spicy but very tasty.

Its not even a shadow of what it once was in the glory days of Joes Sushi. What once was an energetic, happy, and celebratory environment has turned into a muted, serious, and dull affair. There used to be a guy in a literal penguin suit that would yell with the workers in jolly greetings as you came in, much like a family would at a party. Birthdays were celebrated with lights and clinking and all the hullabaloo as if you were the only birthday to celebrate! Alas... No more. And thus, even the sushi has lost its glow on the pallet as this once proud orca of the sea is yet another humdrum sushi place swimming in a school of conformity. RIP Joes Sushi.

Sure the wait is crazy long but its JOEs! Sushi is awesome. The crowd is always fun and loud. The birthday gag is hilarious! I love it! Servers are full of spirit. No matter where I go the sushi is not as good as Joes. The service might be more attentive and wait shorter but you cant beat the awesome atmosphere and fun crowd. Its an amazing thing when a restaurant can make all their customers (complete strangers) feel as if theyre all just hanging out at a friends house.

We went on a sunday. We got seated right away and our service was fast but the food was just not good. Any sauce that was on any roll was just masked the flavor of any fish in the rolls. The calamari was not calamari. It was chewy and stringy and not pleasant at all. Got the vegetable tempura and the sweet potato was raw in the center. The fish was not fresh and a man who appeared to be the manager came by told us it was because the fish was warm, why is the raw fish in an unfried and uncooked roll warm? Wont be back.

I have been a long time Joes Sushi customer. It was very difficult to find good Japanese food or any Asian food in Riverside. Riverside has a great share of Mexican food and bars, but Asian food taste like dirty and we still ate it, because thats what we do. Maybe you will understand if you ever have Asian food cravings and live in Riverside. Back in my Riverside days this was the pre-gambling stop. Whenever my friends would win big or wanted to get in the poker mood we would hit up Joes Sushi.If you will notice, every review is either very good or very bad. Both sides are completely right. I feel the experience does vary per visit.Lets start with the positive first:The food is not bad. You get very larger qualities and lot of flavor. They go all out on the sauce and that crunch stuff. If you order anything with cream cheese, you will get a mouth full. If you are a person that loves rolls (not sushi/ sashimi) this place will be heaven for you. I use to eat a crap load when I was younger so this worked out very well. The actually sushi is okay. The atmosphere at times could be fun at the bar when the servers are telling jokes and enjoying themselves. Some my best experiences were the first few times I went here.The bad/ the usual experience:Any complaints about service are 100% true! This wasnt always the case. In the beginning it was simple crap talking and joking, but lately it just plain rude. My friends and I were a bit wasted once and one chef said here eat some cream cheese to my friend and said oink oink. I thought it was kinda fun at first, but he was so insistent he didnt stop until my friend took it and at least pretend to bite a random piece of cheese. Another complaint I heard was they talk smack in Korean. Yes, my girl can confirm this. Very accurate! Whenever a white person walks in and you think they are screaming something a Japanese greeting sometimes they are mumbling a curse word in Korean. Yes, the chefs will try to hit on your girl if shes Korean and you are in a mixed race relationship. I can go on and on, but the final visit here put the nail in the coffin for me. Back in my high roller days of poker, I knew majority of the sushi chefs and the sad thing is most of them still work there. I feel sorry for them, but that is no excuse to be mean to your servers, customers, and to be raciest. On my final visit, a few chefs gave me a balloon face meaning that I gained some weight. That is possible Im not as young or active I was years ago. I know they were just being blunt, but the manager agreed. We are not my friends that is too far. I didnt take it personally, but it was hard to enjoy your All-you-can-eat meal when everyone working here is happy to see you again, but agrees you gained weight. Flash forward.. I am back to college shape now, but there is no point in going back if this is how you treat your loyal customers.I admit I was a fan in the past, but Joes Sushi has taken a turn for the worst. I have referred many friends here and had a lot of great times, but goodbye Joes. If you like the smell of constant cigarette smoke on the sushi chefs, come here. Not recommended. Two thumbs down. Never again. I hope you go out of business. I recommend Cabin Sushi.

This place is ok. 3 Stars for 3 things:1. Joes is not in a good neighborhood and parking is difficult. You either have to park in the back or the adjacent dirt lot. Kind of affects the mood of a date night when you walk across dirt to get to the restaurant.2. All you can eat sushi dinner price is pretty expensive but not outrageous about $25 each.3. Their sushi was ok. It wasnt terrible, it was just ok. Could have been a bit more flavorful and fresh.For all you can eat in Riverside check out Asahi off Van Buren or Akina in Mission Grove

Love this place and food is very delicious every time I come here food is the bomb the reason I don’t give it 5 stars is due to my server was all older lady black hair she really doesn’t understand English had trouble order with her by the time I order for my husband and daughter she walked away I had to catch the owner and tell him I didn’t finish putting my order in she never came back to check up on us or to give us our check another server ask us would you like ice cream we said sure got it to go we had to head home as it was getting late. A great word to describe Joes Sushi is OK. The Best thing going for it is its ambience, the fish so-so Ive had better Ive had worse, sushi itself sits on a throne of rice(A lot), overall if your in the area and you really want sushi right now, and you dont want to drive because theres traffic, then this is the place Bon appetit.
