Kabosu Japanese Cuisine
10155 Riverside Dr, Toluca Lake, CA 91602, United States
Decent Japanese restaurant in Toluca Lake with indoor and outdoor seating. It was fairly busy when we went at lunch. Salmon teriyaki was good, Zaru soba was only okay; noodles felt a little under done and the sauce was on the weak side. Not the best place Ive been to, but will give it another shot sometime.

Ooka Sushi & hibachi steak House
3525 Riverside Plaza Dr #200, Riverside, CA 92506, United States
I have been going to Ooka Japanese Restaurant for special occasions since they have opened and my children were small. At that time it was a high end hibachi type Japanese restaurant and it was a great show and great food. The Japanese hibachi chefs were entertaining and authentic. But cue today, my husband and I came in for our anniversary dinner and I was quite disappointed. Our hibachi chef was 24 years old and not Japanese. And I remembered this because he said his age and he was younger than my youngest child. He did not know how to handle the grill and was not entertaining or talented which is part of the show. He made the always present onion volcano (which I look forward too each and every time) out of 3 little onion slices with no panache!! There was no show and the food was only mediocre. I paid 50.00 for the lobster and my husband ordered the filet mignon and salmon but the salmon turned out the size of a chicken strip. I paid a lot money for our anniversary dinner and I was expecting the service to reflect that price, which in the past they have always delivered. Needless to say I was completely disappointed and will probably will not eat there again. Its really sad because they were a great restaurant with great food and a great show!!

Saku Ramen
3643 Main St, Riverside, CA 92501, United States
Ok heres the good, the bad and the ugly. The good: is the ramen, it tasted good. Added extra noodles and it was perfect filling portion. The fried rice and gyoza were equally tasty. The location is in a nice area of historic riverside. This place is open 24 hours, perfect for that late night after party snack. The front line staff was nice and took our order promply and answered our questions. The bad: its over priced. The base price is already high and then you add on basic toppings (which should be included) like egg, mushrooms and ginger and your loking at a $23 plastic bowl of ramen. This is cafeteria style fast food. You order first then go hunt for seating and wait for your order to be called. You get disposable plastic/Styrafoam everything. There is no wait staff, you pick up your food and serve your own drinks (or can drinks) and pick up after yourself (signs instructing you to pick up after yourself). The seating is limited and uncomfortably industrial steel style. No back support and must share with strangers. Tipping is suggested when you order (tipping for what? idk because they serve you nothing) The ugly: the gender neutral restroom (only 1) was disgusting! They usually say you can tell alot about a restaurant from its restroom cleanliness. If thats the case then ?. Feces splattered on the walls, Graffiti all over, broken dirty bathroom cabinet, dirty sink, dirty floors. No baby changing station. (Wish i would have seen this the first two times before eating there) for this reason and over pricing, i probably wont be returning. Too bad because this place has potential.

Oishii Sushi
6133 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92506, United States
This rating is bittersweet. My family and I have eaten here for years, but I will no longer after what I saw last night. My husband and I stopped in for a late dinner (close to closing) and we ordered our rolls. In the corner of the restaurant one of the waitresses was refilling the soy sauce bottles. Thats fine, as most restaurants refill ketchup bottles, etc. That wasnt the problem. The problem was that I saw her pouring all the remaining soy sauce from the rest of the bottles into one main pitcher. She then proceeded to place all the newly empty bottles with lids in what looked like a water bath to soak. Here I thought this is a strange practice, but figured, maybe this is how its done in a sushi restaurant. After they had soaked for a few seconds/minutes she then began removing the bottles from the water bath, dried them and the lids and proceeded to refill the bottles with the SAME soy sauce that she added to the soy sauce pitcher. This is where I thought it started to get disgusting. Again, Im not sure how things work in a sushi restaurant, but this didnt seem right. I assumed that the restaurant would either a) discard all the sauce from the bottle if it was being removed and wash the bottles for re-use or b) just wipe the down the bottles and re-fill with NEW soy sauce. Neither of this is what happened. The whole situation looked gross and made me feel nauseous. What tipped the scale for me was seeing that she was eating her own bowl of edamame WITH HER HANDS and was placing those same hands into the water bath with the clean soaking bottles. I think it is very disgusting to work with communal food while eating. She absolutely DID NOT wash her hands. This is a health and safety violation as this is how diseases spread. It is NEVER OK to eat (putting your fingers in your mouth) and touch clean food containers with those same hands/fingers. I kept thinking of all the other items in the restaurant that she may have touched without washing her hands. Gross! I would recommend that if a restaurant is going to practice poor food preparation technique and not follow basic state Food Handlers Regulations, then they should stay in the back out of the publics view. I will NEVER eat sushi there again

Joes Sushi Japanese Restaurant
9555 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92503, United States
I have been a long time Joes Sushi customer. It was very difficult to find good Japanese food or any Asian food in Riverside. Riverside has a great share of Mexican food and bars, but Asian food taste like dirty and we still ate it, because thats what we do. Maybe you will understand if you ever have Asian food cravings and live in Riverside. Back in my Riverside days this was the pre-gambling stop. Whenever my friends would win big or wanted to get in the poker mood we would hit up Joes Sushi. If you will notice, every review is either very good or very bad. Both sides are completely right. I feel the experience does vary per visit.Lets start with the positive first:The food is not bad. You get very larger qualities and lot of flavor. They go all out on the sauce and that crunch stuff. If you order anything with cream cheese, you will get a mouth full. If you are a person that loves rolls (not sushi/ sashimi) this place will be heaven for you. I use to eat a crap load when I was younger so this worked out very well. The actually sushi is okay. The atmosphere at times could be fun at the bar when the servers are telling jokes and enjoying themselves. Some my best experiences were the first few times I went here. The bad/ the usual experience:Any complaints about service are 100% true! This wasnt always the case. In the beginning it was simple crap talking and joking, but lately it just plain rude. My friends and I were a bit wasted once and one chef said here eat some cream cheese to my friend and said oink oink. I thought it was kinda fun at first, but he was so insistent he didnt stop until my friend took it and at least pretend to bite a random piece of cheese. Another complaint I heard was they talk smack in Korean. Yes, my girl can confirm this. Very accurate! Whenever a white person walks in and you think they are screaming something a Japanese greeting sometimes they are mumbling a curse word in Korean. Yes, the chefs will try to hit on your girl if shes Korean and you are in a mixed race relationship. I can go on and on, but the final visit here put the nail in the coffin for me. Back in my high roller days of poker, I knew majority of the sushi chefs and the sad thing is most of them still work there. I feel sorry for them, but that is no excuse to be mean to your servers, customers, and to be raciest. On my final visit, a few chefs gave me a balloon face meaning that I gained some weight. That is possible Im not as young or active I was years ago. I know they were just being blunt, but the manager agreed. We are not my friends that is too far. I didnt take it personally, but it was hard to enjoy your All-you-can-eat meal when everyone working here is happy to see you again, but agrees you gained weight. Flash forward.. I am back to college shape now, but there is no point in going back if this is how you treat your loyal customers.I admit I was a fan in the past, but Joes Sushi has taken a turn for the worst. I have referred many friends here and had a lot of great times, but goodbye Joes. If you like the smell of constant cigarette smoke on the sushi chefs, come here. Not recommended. Two thumbs down. Never again. I hope you go out of business. I recommend Cabin Sushi.

Roheys Wok & Grill

The dishes taste different from what youd get from other Korean or Japanese restaurants. The tastes have fused somewhat but its still delicious. Id personally recommend the bibimbap or katsu curry.

Sushi Asahi

It was mediocre at best. Its a typical Korean owned japanese restaurant. I would not eat on the outdoor patio because youll have a constant battle with flies. My apps came out with a hair on it. It was just a meh experience. Probably would not come back...

Sushi Ran

Customer service is very below average. Just another ignorant Chinese/Japanese/Korean restaurant here just to take American money. With little respect if any respect just running a business with no integrity.

Oku-Niku Japanese BBQ (Previously known as Roku...

Normally, I don’t write a lot of Google reviews. I found this place online and decided to give it a try with my wife. It was awesome. We decided to try to $55.00 AYCE. The meat and seafood selection were great and plenty. The beef was tender, and seafood was fresh. The restaurant offered high quality sushi and the side dishes were very tasty for a Japanese BBQ. Service was very pleasant, and we were served quickly. We just found out favorite Japanese AYCE BBQ.
