I went there yesterday and ordered two rolls. The food was okay. I have had better sushi else where. The food was dry. For the two rolls we ordered we only got a small amount of ginger. Overall it was an average place.

This place is not just aesthetically pleasing, but they serve absolutely delicious sushi! Everything tastes very fresh. Service is great. I really don’t have any complaints about it and will continue to return here - especially for their lunch specials. You can get a sesame chicken combo with a California roll, soup and salad for under 15.00 - Can’t beat that!

This is our familys weeknight sushi place. We bring the kids who absolutely demolish the crunchy rolls. My favorite is the yellow tail buffalo roll. The fish is always delicious and the service is always great. They take extra care of our kiddos. The Yoshi rolls are a personal favorite too. The price is fair too!

I ordered a draft beer, poke bowl, and fried calamari. Raw fish in the poke bowl are very fresh and cold while rice is warm.Fried calamari had only the meaty part of the calamari. If you like the small tentacles, they are not. Its fried to crispy.For me, its too much for a meal so I ended up boxing half of the calamari home.

This is a good local sushi restaurant. The proprietor seems to know EVERYONE who comes in. That makes for a friendly atmosphere. The menu is quite good. I look forward to trying menu items beyond the creative sushi rolls.

So good! We got there before it opened and they still had smiles and sat us anyway. They have, hands down, the best calamari. The rolls are fresh and large. Last time we went we shared the sweetheart roll and it blew me away. It felt like you got led down a culinary path of delight. LOL. Well be coming back for a long time.

Second time here and we couldn’t be happier with what we got. Started with some sashimi appetizer and a cucumber salad (both amazing and super fresh), and ate some gyozas. The sauce that comes with it was to die for! The sushi was super delicious as well, and my boyfriend really loved the roll he got (pictured here). Also, the place is so beautifully decorated, the host and owner always friendly. We will for sure become regulars :)

A little expensive, but very fast service. I ordered over the phone, and got the food in less than 10 minutes. The pork curry cutlet was great. Good texture and flavor. The salad on the side wasn’t too great.Also, they do a good job of packing the to go bags

Their rolls are really good. Sashimi seems a bit pricey and I wish they wouldnt use such thin slices for the Chirashi...but that being said, it was very tasty. The winner for me here is the spicy beef teriyaki! I always see a lot of people here but with the pandemic still around, I prefer to takeout. Oh, and the tempura is actually rich in flavor! I also recommend the Alaska roll. Support your local restaurants! Make sure to tip well even for takeout!

Food is very tasty. We always order Philadelphia rolls 🍱🍣 and Sweetheart rolls. The оwner Tom is very interested in discussion, and he makes you feel like you’re welcomed. But, sometimes you have to remind them that you need soy sauce/napkins. Tables could be sometimes sticky. The food is very tasty! I definitely recommend getting edamame and philly tempura rolls. The glassware could sometimes be blurry with fingerprints😢 The presentation of the food is not best, yet average. They offer giftcards, that you can buy for other people. Overall, there are more pros than cons. We will still visit them!

By far hands down better sushi places in the orange county area Ive been in. The rolls were good. Tho Id avoid the kazun roll(forgot the name but its cooked spicy salmon role). Didnt have as much a taste. Next time Im hear, will try out the omakase if they provide.

The owner ane his wife are some of the friendliest and kindest people to own a restaurant. This establishment is a master of textures and sauces! You must try the spicy calamari, the sesame chicken, and the baked 🥑 Avocado! The rolls and sashimi are really well assembled and presented. Do yourself a favor and go experience their amazing service. The whole staff works really well together and sometimes, when they know you, its like they can read your mind.

The staff was great and it was busy. There is a variety of sushi available. All of the sushi we had was fantastic.Update: Theyre still great. We love the 911 roll, Godzilla roll, caterpillar roll, and the spicy scallop avocado. We tried the sake martinis tonight. Both the blueberry and apple were great.

Sushi is pretty ok. But 2 stars due to their inability to provide estimate time. We was little bit in rush, so before ordering togo asked how long it takes to prepare sushi, receptionist said 15-20min, after we placed order in few mins, they said to pick up in 30-35min, but then order was ready after 50 min..Please provide real estimate, because it might brake people plans sometimes.

I’ve never felt racially profiled until I tried to eat sushi at Kanpai. I am in Orange County for work, and stoped in to get dinner after leaving the office. The waiter and waitress served every table with a sense of urgency (Caucasian customers) while I was the only African American/Hispanic customer in the restaurant. It took the waiter who was working the tables outside to ask if I wanted anything to drink, which I ordered a glass of Merlot. The waitress inside immediately directed her attention to every Caucasian customer inside the restaurant walking past my table (sitting alone in the middle of the restaurant) to make sure every Caucasian customer was taken care of and their order was taken. I sat in this restaurant for 45 minutes, only 1 glass of wine and no one asked if I wanted to order food or if I wanted a second glass of wine. I’ve paid with my American Express (for the 1 glass of wine) which the waitress had to double take a person of color holds an AMEX!

First time trying this place. Rude waiter. Denies us seat at sushi bar, insane long wait for food even though restaurant was not full, eventually they serve others first who came in long after us.
