I havent had sushi this good in a long time. The service was amazing, atmosphere was awesome, and most of all the food was ridiculously good. The omakase was definitely worth it.

Variety of dishes, sushi, and all were tasty, atmosphere peaceful. The service was excellent. It was a little pricy and no prices are posted. But the final bill was about what I thought it would be.

Food is good, nice location and well decorated inside. Why the 2 stars? Price for food is very high. A chicken teriyaki bento box is $25.

Kashiwa is a fantastic restaurant with a fantastic omakase. The food is well worth the money, and is extremely fresh. While the price may turn away some you are paying for quality and a superb range of flavors that other sushi places do not achieve. The restaurant does get busy later in the day and for good reason, if you want to eat dinner here a reservation is a good idea.

Very authentic and very good sushi. I sat at the bar and spoke a little Japanese with the two chefs, who seemed to really appreciate my effort, and they were extremely nice.I ordered the Sashimi Omakase and the Live Shrimp for a total around $77.The fish was fresh and was textured exactly how I expected the cuts to be.The Live Shrimp is definitely a unique item I havent tried before, and is something I recommend to the adventurous eater. You get the bodies (which are freshly slaughtered) on nigiri rolls and the heads are fried completely. Ive had sushi places fry fish bones after the dish was completed, before, so this seemed pretty normal. I ate the legs and the backs, but decided to leave the heads since I was sure how I felt about them.I will definitely be back next time I visit Long Beach for work! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

STILL TAKEOUT ONLY as of April, 2022.This is my favorite place for traditional sushi. The food and experience are excellent. Service starts with hot hand towels, and the miso soup and hot tea are good, but the star is the sushi. The fish was sparkling fresh, and portioned and cut the way I like. Of course it is - because the chef is a fussy old guy whose been doing this for decades.Advice to diners - If you want rolls with cream cheese and pistachios, then try elsewhere. Ask about the specials - they buy what is best and wont buy the rest. Please keep asking for dine-in service to restart.

I came in just for a few items to try out as I had never been here. I will definitely be coming back to try a few other items. Friendly staff, clean good quality food, low key spot.

A very authentic, sort of upscale place for yummy cuisine.I go a few times a year with my Japanese mother in law and family, and its always a treat.I love the friendly staff, and the food! Everything is so tasty and fresh. I usually get sushi and sashimi as well as some tempura.Bliss!

My wife and I already celebrated Valentines day because our schedules are rather hectic. It happened to work out that we had a free evening together on the actual day, and a friend had just recommend Kashiwa. We went, it was an event evening for Valentines day and they had a special fixed menu. Reservations only. We asked about it as we walked in. After some deliberation with the other servers and chefs, they agreed. (Mind you, we werent expecting to eat out, I was in soiled work clothes).Service was exceptional. The menu was amazing. Every piece went with the next wonderfully. The sashimi melted in your mouth. The meal was capped off with two scoops of ice cream, jello, and a small cup of roasted green tea. A well rounded, well thought out, and delicious dinner. We left with satisfied bellies and taste buds. Thank you!
