Khao San Thai Kitchen - Santee in Santee

OBSESSED!! 😍 I was so impressed by this family owned business. The food is so fresh, beautifully plated, and delicious. Our waiter was so kind and helpful. We got the lunch special, 10-13$ per person depending on your choice of protein, which I thought was an absolute steal. I cant wait to go again! Seriously the best Thai food Ive had in San Diego.Update: I went there again, the food was amazing as usual! I had leftovers to take home and realized they use paper boxes, not Styrofoam! 😍 Im so happy to see a restaurant making more sustainable choices!

I just want to start off by saying as soon as i walked in it wasn’t busy at all, but i noticed an employee in the back cleaning and wiping on counters. it’s always good to see workers cleaning and being productive on slow days instead of doing nothing. the cashier was a younger guy, and he had amazing service. especially considering if this is his first job. he offered me a lunch special menu, and asked if i needed any help finding something specific.i got the lunch special spicy noodle (drunken noodles) with chicken. spice level is out of 10 and i got 5, wasn’t spicy at all but i could taste the spice. while i was paying i was offered a drink by the cashier and i said just a water. he let me know the estimate of when my food will be out and i sat down. to my suprise i had no idea he was going to come out with a lemon water in a glass. i was fully expecting a water cup. i thought that was a great touch and he handed it to me.everytime i go to thai places i try to order a thai milk tea when available. i have had A LOT of thai milk teas. so i ordered one and it was once again, surprisingly very good. one of the best thai milk teas i ever had. i would ask for light ice next time, but very flavorful tea. balanced taste of the tea and milk, not too milky.i got my food and i had napkins and untensils in my bag which doesn’t happen often. the drunken noodles was very flavorful and the chicken was not rubbery at all despite some reviews claiming to be. it came with steamed rice as a side, and you have other options too that isn’t rice. it was very good rice, even my mom commented on how good it smelled.overall very good food, amazing service, and good drink options. i will be returning!!!

This place is so cute, and the food is not only delicious, but has beautiful presentation! My date had the tiger cry steak, which was phenomenal and had a delicious sauce with it. The spicy noodles tasted delicious, the pineapple fried rice was yummy and the Thai tea with boba was fresh and delicious. The customer service was great too. Definitely try this place!

I love this place! Food is top tier thai people are friendly. Definitely a hidden gem and some wonderful food.

Been here twice. The food is OK, but the ambiance is somewhere between a McDees and the County Jail Booking Office. Not once picture of the King on the wall and playing C & W music...

Me and my girlfriend had dinner there last night. We went with a large group which probably over whelmed this business. The hostess was very patient. The food we got was fabulous. Best Thai food I have had in a while. Worth a wait if they are busy.

My husband wanted to give it three but after some reconsideration as he was pouring the incredibly water Penang curry sauce down the drain, he said two as well. The satay chickens only resemblance to the real thing was the faint char marks on what tasted like rubber strips, peanut sauce was bland. Pad thai had almost no flavour and more of that rubbery chicken, heat does no equal flavor guys. The Penang curry, well, had the consistency of water, not good. Im not sure who the other reviewers were but as it said grand opening I had high hopes, employee and friends of employee reviews?

My favorite Thai place in Santee. They have a great lunch special and have duck as a protein which most of the other ones don’t offer.
