Pepper Farm Deli
235 Town Center Pkwy H, Santee, CA 92071, United States
Among other things Ill mention a few reasons leading to my honest take of this Deli. The peanut butter fit protein shake is too sweet from using Reeses peanut butter. The small straw is not wide or strong enough to sustain suction. Cannot taste the banana or anything else. It tasted like i was eating straight fudge. I had to throw more than half away because it seemex drinking the rest of it would be torture. The shake tasted as if it was too pureed, maybe the overpuree affects other aspects of their cooking? The fries were not seasoned, how easy would including rosemary, paprika or some other spice to taste differently than competition? Not much distinction as a deli. The fries ought to be more crisp perhaps a second fry would help. The philly cheese steak was filled with juicy meat but seemed to lack flavor or seasoning. If this place were to lean more into and commit into a unique distinction they could gain more recognition. Perhaps including more options to the customer would enable power in customer choice. The dishes transporting the food were commendable, unique transport of food. Seemed far too expensive for the meal given,I see Crafted Greens as one of their big competitors at the same rough price points and I see no reason to choose Pepper Farm Deli over Crafted Greens. I can get a plate with grass fed steak and two sides for near the same price as a meal and side from here.I might visit in a month to see what changes they make. The staff seemed open to genuine feedback, well see.
Pho Mai Cali
9888 Magnolia Ave, Santee, CA 92071, United States
Hands down, the best Pho Ive ever had. I ordered the P1 all the beef cuts with Oxtail, the A2 net egg rolls, and he ordered the P8 with well done and rare steak. The net egg rolls were amazing, perfectly golden, crispy, savory deliciousness with that beautiful vinegary dipping sauce. I preferred to eat them without lettuce and he did the opposite. We were both very happy. Next came his soup, I ordered another plate of veggies for myself, it was much needed. The P8 was the size of an extra large at most places. Next came my huge plate of meat, followed by a boiling hot broth in a granite bowl, and then a plate of perfectly cooked noodles. I mixed everything together, added my vegetables, and sauces and then the waiter came out with a roasted chili and garlic oil. That set it off! I split all of it between our two bowls. There was so much food! I have enough for another huge meal and full of meat. The broth is so rich and flavorful and I really enjoyed the chili and roasted garlic oil and chili paste. All of the meats were high quality and cooked perfectly. The meatball was like a delicious sausage. The oxtail was okay, but it was cooked until the bones were brittle and flaking. Im sure it is used to flavor all of the broth, so I was expecting that. This is our new spot, no more across the street from the post office for us!
In-N-Out Burger
9414 Mission Gorge Rd, Santee, CA 92071, United States
Ive long felt that In-N-Out is overrated and this visit didnt change my opinion much. This particular location is always busy which is fair due to its location on Mission Gorge, but even though I waited a little while, I expected it to be longer. Orders are taken efficiently and the dual window setup helps move things along. All seating areas seem spacious, welcoming, but the outdoor area seemed particularly neat with all the pillars. I might try eating there in the future to see if it improves my rating any. My issue with INO is not with the experience though. Its with the food. Its passable in a pinch but far from my go to or a top five option. Its fine. Its mostly inoffensive. I love onions, but thats most of what I ended up tasting on my cheeseburger. Maybe thats the real reason they always seem to ask if I want onions: they overpower the taste of the rest of the burger. The fries seemed overcooked and something I rarely complain about: underseasoned. Im not a big salt or fry guy, but this particular serving was super boring and disappointing. I do like that they have an eating while driving option so that doing so is less messy and dangerous. The strawberry shake had the fake strawberry flavor Ive been looking for as of late, so thats a positive. And the area looked quite clean. I went through the drive thru, so my vantage point was limited, but things seemed well-maintained all around. In the future, I think Ill crave the experience but not the food.
Sprouts Farmers Market
9361 Mission Gorge Rd, Santee, CA 92071, United States
The employee named Cheryl who was working today at July 16, 2022 08:33 PM treated me very poorly based on my skin color. In the first hand experience with her, I offered to help to bag my big order of groceries. While I was bagging the groceries, she finished scanning through the items then I made payment. However, I still have lots items needed to be bagged. Without helped me to finish items to put in the grocery bag, she was already taking a next customer in the line. I asked her to help me. Instead she completely ignored me. It was upsetting me, as much as I like do groceries in Sprout, her customer service is away disaster. Then, tonight, it is 2nd time happening again. I wish there was another cash register open, so I did not have to deal with her anymore. It was not my luck. Can y'all train this lady for another couple of years? Just teach her how to treat other customers equally and not go to the next customer while the previous one is slowly bagging the 5-8 grocery bag, which is her job to do as a employee of Sprouts Farmers Market of Santee.REASONS ON WHY I MADE THIS REVIEW:1. She treated the white people in front of us with respect and happiness and when it was our turn her mood went from a happy to a racist moody face(we're Asian by the way).2. Not asking if she wanted to help with the bagging.3. Racist, as I said in reason number 1.
Janets Cafe and Deli
9225 Carlton Hills Blvd, Santee, CA 92071, United States
Nice staff but when you order something you expect to get what they say is in it. Well I got the Buffalo chicken wrap which is suppose to be one of their Oak favorites but what I got was far from being a favorite. It says it comes with chicken strips but mine came with hardly any chicken in it at all and as a matter of fact I would say it was half of a half a chicken strip chopped up into bits which amounted to 2 bites! One for each half of the wrap! Flavor was okay but to charge $14 for it is straight up robbery. Literally the chicken was only at the top of each half of the wrap and the rest was all lettuce. If it wasn't for the person I can with I'd walk out without paying because it was that pathetic. I usually give places 2 tries but I will not be back. If you didn't have the chicken strips to put in the wrap then you should of came back to the table and informed me instead of giving me what was served. The only thing I can say was good was the fries. Those were on point but not enough for me to come back. Shame of the waiter and cook for not letting me know they didn't have any strips to make the Buffalo wrap. Negative stars should be an option for places like this. Also the mosquitoes were out of hand! Horrible experience all around.
Doa Inez Restaurant

Ordered over the phone, friend got my order incorrect while ordering called right back within 10mins and a guy got my correct order what I wanted and let whoever was getting the orders didnt want the supreme burrito no more. When the order got here to the location of drop off the ordered was incorrect. Called to let them know like hey order was wrong when got here. Why get my order if you werent going to send it ? While speaking to them they said because you didnt get the order right when first calling oh well. How is that any good customer service oh and to top it off the person over the phone clicked on me. Great customer service. Dont get your order incorrect or else they WILL NOT UPDATE IT IF YOU CALL WITHIN 10mins to get it correct. They get the order correct but then wont send it. Very unfortunate.

Phils BBQ
9816 Mission Gorge Rd, Santee, CA 92071, United States
The food, ledgendary. Waitstaff, doing the best they can on a busy weekend nite. Not happy at all about the part between ordering take out and actually taking it out. Seriously, management, get a plan.I was, wistfully, generically, pointed towards the space on the floor in front of a long line of kaos and order people; taking orders handing out orders, hard to tell where I interface -really hard. Ive been on my feet all day and Im tired-- hence ordering take out. Hmmmmm? Theres no real direction, wait over there and youll hear your name over a loud speaker.--operatve word being loud. I sit down at a really long table where people are at each end but not in the middle.10 minutes go by. Come to find out it really is a big party. So upon realizing I move of course. Embarassed. So I stand in front of the kaotic line of food order takers. Some guy asks, have you been helped?- to his credit. I say yea, I just dont know where to be, I dont want/cant stand. Oh you can sit over there and youll hear your name over the loud speaker. So I sit. Another 10 minutes go by and now I start writing this little diatribe. Finally a kid comes and says youve been waiting a while Ill go check on your order. Good kid. Promote him. Today. He returns with my food. I learn its been sitting there a while; probably, in hinsight, about 20 minutes. I leave .Yup food is cold.I did try to call in but the recording says they dont do phones anymore so your foid will be hot. Think again. Might test that process before going live. Also gone is the big bench we use to wait on and the buzzers that went off when the food is ready. They worked really well. You can print that. I tested them. Your loud speaker isnt. Ive now tested it too. Onion rings are great sizzeling hot. Not so much cold.I drive through Santee every Saturday night after working 8 hours on my old feet and knees. I look for places to pick up food. I grew up in the up country of North Carolina where bbq rules. I would eat takeout from Phils regularly if it wasnt such a logistical nightmare to do so. Still once a year Ill break down and half to have that bbq but as it stands thats about once a year. If you are older or have mobility issues this is not the best place even for take out. Clearly the business model is not designed around us. See ya next year!
