What an amazing sushi restaurant! The quantity of fish you get per piece is significant and delicious. The hand rolls are filled and the nigiri and shashimi are delicious with large portions.It is a good price for the quantity while still being a great quality in a nice lighting and big inside restaurant dining area.

We love getting the Blue Fin and yellowtail sashimi. They give you such large pieces and the fish is always fresh. I highly recommend as Ive been a patron for 27 years!

Order the kobe steak and shrimp with fried rice. Fifty dollars and some change, definitely over priced. We did get seated fairly quick but under our chairs was a pile of rice that wasnt cleaned up. The presentation wasnt all that. We got one little show from the cook, then he piled all the food on the grille to start cooking.

Ate here completely based on the menu options I saw on the website, saw some more authentic Japanese dishes that I rarely find outside of little Osaka and little Tokyo, was not a disappointment.The Sukiyaki was very good, loved the lotus roots in it, although it felt a bit too sweet at times.The Saba and Ika was perfect, honestly the Ika was some of the best I’ve had in a while, the Tamago was good too but I wish it was served warm and not cold, the texture of tamagoyaki definitely taste better when warm.I would definitely visit here again, I want to try their Zaru Soba, it’s a favorite of mine and I hope theirs is just as good as I’m used too.Update: ive visited several times since and I really love this place, 5 stars

Kishi! OMG! We went to dinner there last night and it was SO good. The food quality is amazing! The flavors are to die for! We ordered the Shōgun meal for two. Wow! It included so much food, teriyaki steak and chicken, rice, mixed tempura veg/shrimp, sushi, and sushimi, soup, and salad.The service was so good, too. They never missed a beat! Food tasted great and service was excellent! The only minor nitpick was that the presentation wasnt as good. The rolls were cut pretty unevenly and everything was just not put together well. Overall still slightly closer to 5* than 4*.

First time coming here & it was really good. The chef/ cook did an amazing job ! Everything was great.The only thing is that I brought my starbucks cup in with my drink and I was asked to leave it in the car or they can hold for me in the back.the person wasnt really nice about it . I understand but I was still buying a drink as well. Overall I will go back because the food was good.

Teppan is popular and there are many choices. Shogun is near my top choice. We went to Kishi because thats where my son wanted to go for his birthday dinner. Kishi was off in so many ways... lackluster performance and food. Heres the thing; these places have high prices and the food and atmosphere at Kishi didnt match the price. I wouldnt go back. I hate leaving a bad review (its not even that bad - I m being generous) but I wouldnt spend my hard earned money there again.

I had one of the most wonderful experiences eating here… This place is a treasure! I had the traditional spicy roll, the spicy tuna roll and my friend the resident expert had several different types of fish and one type of eel they were also delicious… The chef is incredibly keen and very intelligent he knew how to read his audience well when you’re sitting up at the sushi bar this is an art that goes beyond any level customer service I’ve ever seen and I am truly an admirer! The service was beyond excellent I have to admit but if you would’ve given me one of those spicy crab rolls I would hope it would never end!They also have several other types of options for seating you can seat yourself at a table that has a hot plate where they do all the cooking in front of you that was neat but we had to go straight to the sushi bar lol I found this place to be incredible I can’t see why anybody would pass this place up!

I like that they offer both the flashy show experience for those that want it and regular table/booth seating for those who dont. My wife & I got a booth since it was just us and we wanted to talk rather than be entertained while dining.Service was great and fast, but we both agree that the food was bland. At least it wasnt expensive.The menu was almost overwhelming in the sheer number of choices. Perhaps if they focused a bit more on quality rather than quantity, wed be inclined to return.

As with everywhere prices have gone up but still way worth it. Excellent cook at our Teppan Grill customized each of the 5 dishes ordered and was very nice. Do jot forget to tip your chef.

Make a reservation no matter the day!!! Otherwise theyll tell you 30 mins (on a Tuesday) and youll wait two and a half hours for a table that had been empty for two hours and be seated. Our waitress took out beverage order with attitude. And when she took our food order we learned quickly it was best not to ask questions. If you need napkins, silverware,vetc ask for everything at once. She did not like making trips. We were a party of six and we met a lovely fun couple who joined out table. Luckily this was not my first experience or Id never be back. Our chef was great and good was yummy. I wish I could tell you the waitresses name so you wont have to endure her, but she never introduced herself and I never saw the bill to see her name either. 🤞you wont get her but if you do try not to hold it against the restaurant..Oh did I mention we were there celebrating a birthday and the couple was celebrating their anniversary??!! We sang, no staff came to sing or offer dessert. SMH

We were celebrating my birthday and had one of the best evenings out! The folks at our table were friendly and the chef was entertaining and cooked everything perfectly. The entire staff was wonderful in helping celebrate my special occasion, they sang happy birthday, gave me an awesome hat to wear and I got my photo on the wall! I was also given a free ice cream and a gift card for our next visit! Found this gem on Yelp and am so pleased we decided to have dinner here! Will be coming back very soon!

Wonderful little family owned hibachi and sushi place. Weve lived here for 11 years and finally stopped in on my birthday for the grill. What a nice place! It took awhile to get a chef, but the service was good and the place was homely. I love mom and pop type restaurants and the fact that the owner came out to introduce himself and take photos of the family afterwards was a nice touch. The food was relatively good, and the family had a nice time. Win-win!

This is the second time Ive eaten here and it is some of the best sushi I have ever had. If you get a chance sit at the sushi bar and ask for Adolfo. He comes up with some of the best creations and is a great guy to talk to. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. My wife had the teriyaki and was very pleased. We also had their tempura which was flavorful and fresh.

We are here right now tried this place for the first time, and normally we are hesitant to try new places for this reason. We ordered deluxe combo Teri beef and chicken omg chicken was raw, they have teppan grills and nothing about our food was grilled. Raw under cook chicken...they flood the food with teriyaki sauce Maybe to hide that their is no flavor. Benihana is over priced but the food is absolutely delicious. Esp there chicken. Then the cherry coke was flat very flat....server was rude probably cause of language barrier they hardly speak English..... we normally drive far to gardena to get outstanding Japanese food but weaved here 2 years ago and dont really know of all the good eaterys so we took a huge risk. From.now on we stick to what we know ...we will never go there again

It was the server over him, she was absolutely rude and I mean down right. Food was great and had an authentic taste. Lots of sushi options with pretty clear explanations of whats inside - a rarity. The chicken katsu was white meat and the beef was tender. The sauces were pretty typical. The salad was a little sweet, but good. Would definitely like to come back and try different options. The menu is extensive, though I wish Japanese curry was an option. Prices were as expected -$12-$18 for a dinner plate.

Probably the most classic of Japanese restaurants on the Upland strip. Not an all you can eat place. The sushi tastes particularly fresh. Weve been having family birthday parties here for years and after yesterday we will never go back.we ordered teriyaki chicken and beef, fried rice, and california rolls with soups and salads. Everything except the soups and salads were terrible and bland. We couldnt even eat it. We had to go somewhere else to eat when we left. the service was fine but the food...never again. I wish I would have complained there so I didnt have to pay $40 for 2 soups and salads but my wife wouldnt let me. I know it was taken under new ownership a while back and that must be why things have changed so drastically. Such a shame. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The teppan dinner we had was good and I would consider doing it again in the future. The chef didnt possess the flamboyant personality that elevates the teppan experience but he made up for it by cooking all of the elements of the dinner skillfully. Kishi has been our go to Sushi place for decades. Although there has been an owner change since then, the food is consistent. Love, love, love their Miso soup! But why do they charge extra for it? Aldolfo, one of the sushi chefs is great.Down to the nitty gritty though, the place needs a do over and a new water filtration system. The water they serve tastes like toilet water. I wonder if they know that maintenance of their filtration is a necessity.Kishi, even your Miso soup will soon take a hit because of that nasty water.Lets talk about those chairs at the Sushi bar! Are you waiting for someone to fall?

First time here, at first impression I was a little put off, the food took quite some time to arrive, the server was apologizing every 5 minutes, when the food finally got to us, I was pleasantly surprised, portions were generous and the sushi was very fresh, overall (except the waiting) it was a great meal, will give it another try and see what happens.
