It’s a simple place with very friendly service and really good food that is hot and made fresh to order. Both times I’ve been here I haven’t had anything that wasn’t absolutely delicious. Everything is just so good. I love their hot sauce (Sambal) and their roti with curry is the best I’ve had.

Indoor dining 4/1/2021. 10 years ago, this place used to be packed with wait times up to an hour. Tonight it was completely empty. I was the only customer eating inside. I had the Martabak (meat stuff pancakes) $10 and the Singaporean curry noodles $10. The pancakes were a little dry. It came with a curry dipping sauce so it made it less dry. The Singaporean curry noodles were delicious. Im accustomed to the traditional dry stir-fried version. This is good saucy version. I had them replaced the clear noodles to egg noodles. The curry had a good texture with hints of coconut juice. There were generous portions of curry, chicken, mushrooms and noodles. Great job everyone at Lime Tree!

Affordable, good portion food. Their beef rendang combo was delicious and came with a drink and fruits.We also got a roti pratha and it was super buttery and delicious.The food came fairly quickly, but we had a hard time figuring out what ingredients were in the food. I think there was a little confusion because the roti was not made in house.

A neat place! Small and hidden but with a unique and tasty menu. The chicken and noodles were as delicious as youd expect, and the spiciness was satisfying. I didnt poke around their whole menu but the other entries looked equally appetizing.There are plenty of other stores around the area for desserts and other snacks as well if youre stopping through after some time at the park or at the beach.

The first restaurant on Irving street. Its a nice cosy place with wheelchair access. The decor is simple.Had the martabak and a Thai iced tea. The Thai iced tea was topped with coconut milk. Brilliant.The owner recognized I might like spice and served me this chilli tomato side with shrimp paste along with the regular dipping. I forget the name, but do ask about it. Its not clearly mentioned on the menu.Portions are generous. I barely managed to finish the item.Their flaky roti is similar to a flaky bread from South India, so I really like ordering it as its the closest place serving something like it.In short, a nice place to have South East malay-thai dishes. And if you like spice, you simply need to ask.

Pretty good asian restaurant with some selection of Indonesian dishes. The food is quite tasty and we had a selection of fried rice or noodle, appetizers, fried chicken and crab, as well as dessert. Parking available on the street. Probably will visit again but its a bit of a drive from the South bay.

This place has become one of my most favorite authentic south eastern Asian restaurant in SF. Its not just the food that you can enjoy but my experience sitting here with comfortable feeling like Im in my own home. The atmosphere is not overwhelming. Ming the owner is a super cool guy he even offer free fruit plate to us after meal 🍴. What more to say. Very local, casual restaurant. I went here with two friends on a Saturday, and we were the only ones there. I got the Mie Tek-Tek, and my friends got the shrimp noodles and tofu. The Mie Tek-Tek (mild) didn’t have much flavor, but my friends dishes looked pretty good. I liked the vibe and service, although about half of their menu is not available. Affordable for a big quantity of food.

Standouts: Thai ice tea, roti, roti and ROTI. That curry sauce on the side of the roti was the highlight. It was an appetizer so it came first and everything else that followed paled in comparison. The other dishes were pretty decent too. The ice tea was just refreshing and flavorful.

Tried their pepe’s salmon for the first time. Banana leaf wrapping with burnt makes me feel I’m in a remote village in Malaysia. The fish was fresh and aromatic. The acidity from the lime adds another layer of flavor. I wish the plating has more finesse. I also with they do something special to the rice rather than service a bowl of plain white rice with the fish.

This place is superb. A friend and I wandered around and planned to have lunch after a visit to the golden gate park. We picked up this unobtrusive place because we wanted to try some southeast Asian food. That turned out to be a fabulous decision. The restaurant is small in size, half-underground, not looking fancy at all, few customers when we walked in, so tbh we did not have high expectations at the beginning. However, our world views were just changed after we took a first bite of the food. I ordered a shrimp (Indonesischen?or Singaporean?) fried rice kind of thing. It was super delicious(though it looks nothing special) and I would say it’s the most delicious food I had ever had in a restaurant. Both of us were just amazed and we discussed the food during and even after the meal. Big size, humble look, extremely tasty. Hidden gem obviously. I will definitely come back again and bring more friends!

Menu much more limited than the one in the Richmond but just as tasty. As others have mentioned the curry sauce for dipping is too thin so can’t taste the flavor well. Singapore curry noodle portion wasn’t as big as I hoped but was tasty. Beef rendang came with side of rice which was probably on the house since we didn’t order it separately, so thanks for the extra treat, it is appreciated and earned the extra star!

A family owned place where the roti is PERFECTLY fried, crispy on the outside and steamy flaky layers on the inside. A must try if you like carbs. Their laksa is also very good, its spicy, and tiny bit sweet.

Now that COVID restrictions are lifting a little, we wanted to try this local neighborhood restaurant. We usually go to the Clement one, but was pleasantly surprised. The staff, setting, and of course the food was terrific. I highly recommend the Singaporean noodles and the Roti bread wrap called “Martabak”. Need to make sure you ask for more sauce as our party was fighting for it :)

The restaurant itself appears to be a converted basement since you have to go below street level. The decor is basic, but its clean, which is good enough for a place where you just want good food at an affordable price.The shrimp noodles (#8) was tasty. It contained a lot of garlic and fish sauce. Portions were bigger than expected, I couldnt finish it all.Service was excellent, but we did have to ask for the check after waiting for 5 minutes. Not a big deal.If I lived closer, it would be my local joint to pick up something and go home to eat it.

My wife and I ordered take out one week ago. We have ordered many times and always have been very happy with the quality and service. We used to ordinarily dine-in but with the pandemic we used a third-party delivery(Door Dash).Unfortunately that third-party never even arrived to the restaurant to deliver our food and eventually the restaurant closed. The owner was so gracious as to call me and hand deliver our food personally, free of charge for the inconvenience. We were astonished and grateful. What a kind gesture. And the tofu shrimp curry as well as the beef cubes dish were incredible.What a pillar of customer service. I highly recommend the establishment!

Whys there no zero star options? We waited here for almost an hour after placing an order in-person at the restaurant. Other than the hot water for the tea, the manager did not bring us any of our food items. We kept reminding him, he kept ignoring us, served people who came after us, kept serving online orders, but for customers sitting hungry in front of him, he was simply ignoring our order. After an hour we left, while he kept serving other people and he said sorry I know I ignored you guys!!! What the hell??? This was clear case of racism and discrimination! Wouldnt recommend anyone going there, period!

This hidden gem offers incredible Indonesian food including beef rendang that was cooked to perfection.The atmosphere is lively and the staff is genuinely friendly. Some Asian places try to have an upscale ambiance but forget about the food. At Like Tree, the focus is on making unforgettable meals. It doesnt matter that the ambiance is rustic.

I visit SF every December since 2016 and visit Lime Tree on every trip. Lime tree was one of my favorite restaurants in SF and I have tried most of their menu (except desserts) but over time the taste of the food has declined. The flavors of most dishes have become muted and even the Sambal (hot sauce) has lost its punch. Still giving it 3 stars as the place is family run and they are very attentive to their customers. I hope they bring back the old taste which I crave.

Wow, I wasnt expecting the quality of food for the price! Affordable, delicious and quick service. My friends and I had a vegetarian option, a meat option and a sweet black bean desert. I didnt even get a chance to take a photo of the desert we ate it so fast! The decor is somewhat lacking (its very sparsely decorated) and you do wonder if you are just walking into someones basement when you enter (the entrance is marked but not like a typical restaurant), but no it is indeed a restaurant. I will be coming back here next time Im in the area.

Food was mediocre. Service was fairly slow. I went with a friend for lunch, its a casual spot with several tables, if you have a large group you could pull several tables together. Its close to UCSF for lunch from there. However the wait staff appeared to take our appetizer to a table that ordered after us first. And our food was very slow to arrive. I was disappointed by the quality of food and the service, although prices are very reasonable.

Nice little hole-in-the-wall in Inner Sunset. Heres a quick rundown of the food. Roti: buttery, soft, and crispy. The accompanying curry sauce was creamy and had great flavor. Laksa Special: Great flavor and ample seafood. Broth was a spicy curry. Noodles were a good firm texture. Cheap fast no frills type of place. The Muni was rolling right by, shaking the whole restaurant. There are many other places to try on this street, so I wouldnt go again until Ive been to all the other places.

Lime Tree is the hidden gem of the Inner Sunset. Hidden in a basement with little to no signage, this place doesnt do a ton to promote themselves. But, that just means more yummy noodles for me! If you are UCSF, its a great place for lunch or a quick bite for dinner. Honestly, sometimes I just crave their appetizers for dinner. The corn fritters are wonderful, and you cant beat their basil tofu!

Theres a real shortage of decent Singaporean food in SF, and this place is a godsend. The murtabak and nasi goreng are both just terrific. Until now, this has been one of my favorite go-to spots if Im ever in the Inner Sunset area and I have a hankering for some of that good-good Indonesian food.I love their Mie Tek, Nasi Goreng fried rice, Martabak, etc. Overall, my experience here has never pushed me away but made me come back for more and try other things on their menu. I love that they offer specials not shown on their regular menu and you just easily walk-in, place your order with the cashier and wait until the food comes out. Not bad for quick service and a big serving of food. Im always so stuffed and I can never finish my order of food.Definitely a hidden gem but not in this case. All of the reviews already posted for this place are really great and descriptive so I will only add two things:1) The Martabak sounds way better on paper than it tastes! Dont bother with it.2) If you happen to be East African and are looking for a way to get chapati without making it yourself just grab a bunch of this Roti. Its expensive but damn, it tastes exactly like the chapati we eat at home in Tanzania -- love it!

I loooove Southeast Asian food and I think this is the only location that serves such fare in the immediate area, so definitely a great addition to the hood.Small place (a bit cramped), gets a lot of locals. Homely place, great to hang out to catch up w. friends. Basically fried corn + dough (how can you go wrong!)Laksa isnt as good/flavorful as Ive had at some other places. The noodles were overcooked and soggy but the broth was decent and there were lots of ingredients.Overall not bad but not blown away. Def want to get roti next time and a noodle/rice dish, looked sooo good when it was coming to other tables!

Love the food!Had the chicken today for the first time and WOW! Never had the perfect amount of seasoning on the chicken like this. Rice was more like sticky rice but was fine since I mostly ate with soup sauce.The coconut shrimp tofu soup was to die for with just the right amount of heat for me (ordered spicy). Lots of oohs and uums slurping that one.Line out the door at 8:30PM so I got to go and did have to wait for about 20 minutes and worth it. To go bags reusable and cool +1.

Being Cambodian, I surprisingly dont particularly enjoy SouthEast Asian food. But Lime Tree serves affordable and solid South East Asian cuisine!I was craving curry and got the Singaporean noodles with curry. My friend got the Mie Tek Tek. The curry noodles had a great flavor and wasnt too heavy. It was actually light and refreshing but delicious and substantive at the same time. The Mie Tek Tek was a little spicy for me but the flavors were so interesting and delicious. For two, the meal came out under $20! A great value for unique and delicious food!

A great lunch! Indonesian-Singaporean style food. Its like Thai food, but its *not*. That small pivot toward Indian food makes it exciting! A little rougher, a little more exotic, a little more solid in your tummy. Both of our dishes tasted very fresh and clean with distinct flavors that melded together very well. We got the Singaporean Curry Noodles and Nasi Goreng. This little neighborhood gen is hidden literally below the street-level (you have to take a few steps below ground level to get in). The aroma--a mix of lemon grass, garlic, and coconut--alone should tell you the food is delicious. The cuisine shows Southeast Asian influence. Laksa, a coconut-flavored noodle soup, is hearty and satisfying. Mi-tak-tak, a spicy noodle soup with cabbage and chicken chunks, has a strong citrus kick. The potato cakes are a wonderful way to start the meal. The best part--most dishes are priced below $10. The homely setup doesnt offer fancy tablecloths and silverware, so perhaps not ideal for a romantic date, but the food makes up for the humble decor.

Ask me what my last meal on Earth would be, and I would say, Beef Rendang from Lime Tree. And six years after Ive had my first meal at Lime Tree, I still stand by those words. Lime Tree is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco - mainly because Im more of a hole-in-the-wall / mom & pop / bang-for-your-buck kind of guy. And this place meets all of that. I really enjoyed this place with my family. We got the roti, laksa, salmon Pepes, and mie tek-tek. We shared everything between the four of us and we were stuffed afterwards! It was all very delicious! Im glad we stumbled upon this place since it is slightly hidden.

The best thing about this place is that its BYOB. They can easily accommodate large groups (its never too busy) as well. Food here though is mediocre at best, and usually tasteless. In general though, its an affordable, easy spot to stop in for a quick bite.

Found this place by accident on the internet. Dont be fooled by the understairs style access and the spartan furnishings. Here you eat very well! We had wok-sautéed rice with chicken and house noodles... All wonderful, and generous dishes (average cost of a dish about $10). A must try, even if it is located in a more residential area.
