Lime Tree
450 Irving St A, San Francisco, CA 94122, United States
Ask me what my last meal on Earth would be, and I would say, Beef Rendang from Lime Tree. And six years after Ive had my first meal at Lime Tree, I still stand by those words. Lime Tree is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco - mainly because Im more of a hole-in-the-wall / mom & pop / bang-for-your-buck kind of guy. And this place meets all of that. All the other dishes are exceptional. I would highly recommend these dishes if you are going there for the first time: 1. Beef Rendang 2. Singaporean Curry Noodles 3. Roti Prata.

Dabao Singapore
1661 Tennessee St Unit 2K, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States
My wife is from Singapore and I’ve been there a bunch of times. This was our first time with Dabao Singapore. Our niece got us a package with Laksa, prawn noodle and chee kueh. Not sure how to describe chee kueh other than a steamed rice powder cake with preserved cabbage and hot sauce. We have it in Sing for breakfast, so we saved it and had it this morning. It was quite good, though it could have used a little more cabbage. My wife had the prawn noodle (ha mee). She said the soup stock was very good, but she was a little disappointed in the noodles. Perhaps the time between initial preparation and delivery affected them. But overall, she liked the dish.I had the Laksa and it was quite good and quite true to those prepared in Singapore (as opposed to many others which are more like curry noodles). While I’ve had better in Singapore, I haven’t had many there that are better. Two come to mind there out of the dozens of different hawkers we’ve had.No dry mouth overnight which tells me no MSG was used in either dish, which is a huge plus.Prices are a little steep, but sine the price includes delivery, it’s not outlandishly high compared to other restaurants serving Sing or Malaysian food.Easily the best Singaporean restaurant in the Bay Area.

GAI Chicken & Rice
1001 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94103, United States
This restaurant surpassed my Singaporean-bred Hainanese chicken rice expectations. Having lived the first 12 years of my life in Singapore and having lots of HCR during that time, I was pleasantly surprised that this restaurants dish takes one of the top two spots of Best Hainanese Chicken Rice in My Entire Life. The rice was flavorful, the chicken was tender and tasty, the chicken skin was so smooth, and the ginger sauce was delicious. The pickled cucumber accompanied the dish to perfection. The only thing missing was the chili sauce. If I was just rating on HCR, I would give 5 stars. My husband ordered the Mala Dan Dan Noodles. While they were also delicious, we missed the numbness of the expected Sichuan peppercorns. We could hardly taste any! And thats the reason for docking one star.As a side note, the restaurant has a funky sterilized smell that was a little off-putting (I sometimes smell the same smell at Bart stations). However, the HCR more than made up for it, and if youre doing take-out, then its a moot point.

What The Cluck Haight
1782 Haight St, San Francisco, CA 94117, United States
Cherylynn N, a Yelper and friend has a thing for poached chicken and rice no matter if its thai or hainese. So when I broke news to her about WTC, she was ecstatic. I promise her that Ill let her know when theyre about to open. I even went as far as to find out if there is sidewalk seating so TT (furbaby) can join her. Unfortunately they dont. Sorry TT! ?WTC replace Haight Street Gelato with minor tweaks for a different outlook than before. Seating is limited to just counter with back behind ordering counter. I got the classic bowl comes with a side of soup. Chicken has super tender texture mouth-watering juicy slivers. You get some white and dark meat. Skin is attached on every piece being same size meaning no mixed and match just cut and serve as is. Rice is a little mushy, but taste good with fragrance and flavorful. Now I am eyeing the ultimate bowl. Service is quick and efficient in and out under five minutes tops. Theres no public restroom or WiFi, but there is 10% discount to all locals. For the price, you cant go wrong here. Good luck trying to find a deal like this in the Fidi.

MY-Malaysianfood
1566 Carroll Ave Unit 2K, San Francisco, CA 94124, United States
I was only in San Francisco for 24 hours and craving the Assam Laksa, but when I went there I couldn't find anything, just an industrial warehouse district, so I'm assuming no dine in (on Google it said dine in). They did not answer the phone so I never got any Malaysian food.

I always try to get our clothes washed before heading home as I hate carrying dirty clothes on our trip back. After searching, I stumbled upon this and read the many raving reviews, which I 100% agree with all of the amazing reviews. The owner is Singaporean and could already catch my accent as I am from a neighboring country. We had so much stories to exchange given that we were originally born in the same continent. He also gave good advice to my child who is in college. He wash, dried, and folded all of our clothes and it was so neat that it was so easy to pack. You will have no regrets getting your clothes laundered here.

Rasa Rasa Kitchen R2K

I came here completely expecting to love this place given the reviews and loving Indonesian food. Im not sure what happened but the food was terrible... I got the pan fried noodles and the fried chicken and both were just so bad. When I saw the $17 price tag for pan fried egg noodles I assumed it would be a fresh spin on mi goreng, they turned out to be mediocre stir fried instant noodles with a passable amount of chicken, cabbage and carrots - you can get an amazing bowl of fresh ramen for that price here in SF. I also got their turmeric fried chicken and it had good flavor but it was tiny as hell and quite dry. It was interesting because the chicken was fall off the bone (never had fried chicken that did this), I think they must precook this chicken in some way and then refry it when some actually orders it. As for the size of the chicken, my picture says it all it was two pieces of chicken that were the size of just my thumb, index and middle finger - I was shocked that this is what we were getting for $20 and rice was not even included. While my food was a decent temperature I was there with a group and others were served barely warm food. We got wings and pempek to share as apps and these items were served warm on the outside but cold inside, which I can only assume means they dont really know how to flash fry food. We got the sweet Thai chili wings... fyi its just fried wings covered in may ploy sauce. The staff was very friendly, I do want to credit them with that but they charge an automatic 18% tip yet you order through a QR code at your table. To clarify its not like anyone even takes your order at your table. They also give you a pitcher of water and cups to pour yourself at the table. Im not opposed to tipping at restaurants with service set up like this but I think the option to tip and the amount seems much more appropriate.Again, I came fully wanting and expecting to like this place and I was shocked it fell so flat. So much so that it makes me think that most of these reviews are friends and family. Two more points for what its worth 1) I live in the neighborhood so, again, I really wanted to love this place 2) Ive spent about 2 weeks in Indonesia which doesnt make me an expert, but I do have a frame of reference for Indonesian food.

Delancey Street Restaurant
600 The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States
I dined here with 2 other friends one weekend afternoon and it was pretty chill. Not very busy and we got seated outside. Note that since this is on the waterfront slightly, it could get windy and chilly even though there are some heaters. The food didnt take too long to come out. We had bruschetta which was pretty simple nothing too extraordinary. Also ordered the Singaporean noodles which was pretty spicy for me, the half chicken which was normal, the pesto pasta which was pretty nice, and a large veggie bowl. Overall food was not that impressive though there is large variety.Coming here to support the mission of this restaurant is whats more important to me and so I encourage others to visit this place as well! Its located in a nice neighborhood with good walking area afterwards.

Surisan
505 Beach St, San Francisco, CA 94133, United States
A beautiful, sunny and mild Saturday morning in San Francisco is something to relish. We decided to top it with brunch at Surisan as some in the group had previously dined over there, and had good recommendations. Taking a look at the menu presented plenty of options for the vegetarians as well.We put our name on the wait-list through Yelp. It limits to reserve for a max of 6 people, but if you are trying to reserve for more, you can put the number of people in the notes section.Following the COVID protocols, the hostess asked to see the vax cards, so do not forget to carry these as long as these mandates and the recommendations are in place. The hostess also insisted that all the people in the party be present before they could seat us. Even though couple of people in the group were parking across the street, and it wouldnt have taken them more than few minutes to arrive, we were still asked to wait.Once everyone showed up, we were immediately seated. We preferred to sit inside. The environment was lively with almost all the tables taken, and it seemed everyone was having a good time.We ordered some Bloody Marys, Matcha Mojito, Berry Makkoli and OJs for the table. All of these were good, but the mojito with whipped cream stood out.For brunch we ordered Sailors scrambled, Japchae rice with tofu, Dolsot bibimbaps with chicken mango and one with tofu. Presentation was nice, food was hot and flavorful when served, and serving size was large enough that we could share. Ricotta pancakes were also great, topped with slice of orange, strawberries and blueberries, definitely a must try.Service was good too. It didnt take very long for us to get the food after ordering, and the server and other wait staff were quick in responding and meeting any requests.20% gratuity and SF employee benefit mandate amounts were already added to the bill.Definitely going back to try some other items on the menu, and surely recommend if you like to try Korean-American fusion.
