Waiter was great and everything came surprisingly quick. I definitely recommend the pho. The broth was yummy and the chicken pieces they choose are high quality and cooked well. Lemonade was amazing
May’s have a nice patio where you can dine outside which is a plus but the food is okay. Both beef and vermicelli were over cooked and too sweat. Fried rice was okay, just meet, egg, and onions - hmm too simple even for my kids. They make pretty good Vietnamese ice coffee tho. The service is okay as well, a bit on a slow side. If you are looking for an inexpensive sit-down restaurant, May’s is not bad as other restraints in the area got super expensive.
I have lived in Redwood City for over 5 years and have eaten and May’s several times. However in the last week I stopped by and was shocked at how inedible the food was and the lack luster service.I ordered a medium chicken Pho. They served me beef pho which I ate cause I was hungry or tried to. The noodles were mush and the meat I spat out after a bite. What’s the most upsetting is the broth. So flavorless.I can’t say how disappointing it is to buy a bad bowl of Pho.Redwood City deserves restaurants of quality and consistency.

Food was great and it came quickly enough. But the glaring stares from the staff were a bit much. It might have been because we were there until 7:30, but the official hours went until 8pm Saturday night.
Be really clear with what you are ordering.This isn’t chicken chow fun, I was excited about big flat noodles, but this tastes fine.
I have only had the pho here but the few time I have had it, it has been terrific. Service has been fast for take out, although when eating in it can be tricky to get attention only because there is a constant line of people picking up takeout.
We were the only 2 customers in the restaurant and it took 40mins waiting time for the pho we ordered. The food was ok but the service was terrible. I don’t think they even talked to us.
This our go-to place for lunch. The food is good and comes out fast. The prices are also affordable. There is just this 1 server who has the worse attitude every time we come. He is always in a bad mood and it just kills the atmosphere every time. My friends says that theyre just so used to him. If it werent for the good prices and food, I would not come here.
One of the few restaurants that was opened at 4pm when we were feeling ultra hungry. Affordable and yummy food! Honestly, we werent expecting much when we walked in. To our surprise, it turned out to be an awesome meal. We had medium beef noodles and Vietnamese rice roll. The broth was super delicious and the rice roll goes superbly well with the special sauce! Definitely on my to-visit-again list!
Americanized Pho, but surprisingly decent. I didnt have to drench my foods with chili and oyster sauce to make it taste better. I would recommend this
Nice location in Redwood City downtown. Food was ok, not great. Waiter forgot our drinks and only brought half of them after we had asked several times. Then turned out he didn’t have the drink we ordered. Waiter never checked how we were doing.
Honestly, I don’t get anything else here besides the pork banh mi, which for $6 bucks, is the best lunch you’ll get in the bay for that price. We get the banh mi every week at this point because it’s just so dang good.
Service needs to be improved, but the food was really good. I highly recommend trying their eggplant curry rice in the vegetarian section of their menu. My friend ordered a Pho and she liked it too.
This place used to be my favorite spot but this last time we where there we where treated very poorly the waiter did not wait for us to finish saying our order and when he came with the food it was thrown on the table will never be coming here again

Big bowl of pho (pictured is a beef bowl XL), very fast and inexpensive ($20 for the 2 dishes). However the servers English didnt seem to be great and she questioned what we ordered several times and still got the pho wrong (we had ordered a different type with only rare meat and were brought a bowl with brisket and all sorts of beef in it). Also the beef ribs tasted a bit weird to me,kind of lemongrassy Not that they were bad but they were different from what I was expecting.
Food is so good and so cheap!! I got pho ga, my bf got the banh mi with beef ($5), and we share an appetizer. I think our whole bill totalled to $30. This is our second time at this restaurant and its been excellent both times. The broth is so flavorful and everything was very fresh. Ive also gotten the ca phe sua da here before. Served just like in vietnam!

The delicious food makes up for the poor service. The veggie spring rolls were delicious, and nicely pre-cut for easy dipping and sharing. The rare beef pho was rich and flavorful.

Standard Vietnamese fare in the heart of downtown Redwood City. In short, it was delicious! Their menu has Vietnamese, Chinese, and English. The staff can also speak the 3 languages, which was super convenient since I came with my parents who only know Chinese. My dad ordered some tofu that tasted a little sour, but they were super accommodating about it and just took it back with no questions asked. I had no complaints about my order (bun thit nuong cha gio)--it was so good! Exactly what I was craving. The servings are also pretty large, so I even had left overs for the next day. Great value!
Had pho with rare steak and tendon. Too much MSG! I had a sore throat and had to drink gallons of water afterwards. The rare steak was good quality, tendon less so and soup not that great. Wouldnt come back for pho. It was really cheap though, havent seen sub $7 pho anywhere for a while.
This place has gotten my orders wrong twice now. The pork in the bahn mi tastes like cheap meat. They are not keeping up with the times and dont seem to try to keep customers happy.
FOR YOUR SAFETY, DO NOT ENTER THIS RESTAURANT!! The boy serving me throw chairs on the floor just because he is angry about something. Also he cursed me because I can’t speak Vietnamese. Yelling and staring at me when my order is ready. I’m seriously worried about being killed at the moment.For your safety, don’t consume at this restaurant. He can curse you this moment, who knows is he going to poison you next time.
Ordered the fresh spring rolls with pork, and the chicken rice vermicelli (number 45, I think). Everything was delicious, and the service was attentive. Will be coming back!
Food was so-so. Service was swift, but a bit rushed and dismissive. Price was okay, but I was (without notice) charged $1.00 extra for extra pickled veggies on my bahn mi.

I’m a dasher (door dash) and i’m Just going to say that they are extremely rude and refused to help me even though I also have customers. Not only did they refuse to help me, but they told me they weren’t going to do the order for my customers because they were “too busy”. Frustrating experience.

2023-10-23 02:40:280/10. I’m actually traumatized. We went in and the guy was very rude. Barely acknowledged us. I had a bad feeling because of the bad service and less the pleasant smell but we already ordered so we decided to stick it out. Worst mistake.I got the pho Thai (rare steak), my friend got the pho ga (chicken noodle). It was pretty flavorless so we dressed it up with the condiments. Something tastes off, I smelled the hoisin sauce and it smelt like rotten milk. Disgusting. And then I found a piece of my intestine in my soup and that was it. I sent it back. My friend didn’t want to pay for hers either because of the rotten hoisen sauce in hers. He charged us any way and screamed that we couldn’t ever come back. AS IF WE EVER WOULD. This place needs to be shut down.

The way they serve spring rolls are creative and easy to eat. I really like it.PLEASE SWEEP YOUR FLOOR!!!! It was dirty everywhere, with all kinds of debris and marks.

2022-02-20 05:13:54My new go-to for true Vietnamese on the Peninsula! Super similar to the pho I’ve had in Vietnam and SJ (my standard)—pure, simple, fresh! Such a homey spot with an extensive menu of Vietnamese classics: banh xeo (rice crepe), cha gio (imperial rolls with taro), pho, bún rieu, vermicelli bowls, rice plates—even the banh mí’s look great. Food came out super quick; flavors weren’t too salty/heavy but just right. Great outdoor patio right on Broadway with string lights for the vibes. With the warm weather it felt like I was back in Saigon enjoying a bowl of pho on the street while motorcycles buzz around. Hard to find a gem like this on the Peninsula. If you’re looking for super homey, true Vietnamese food, come here!!

2023-10-08 21:29:29Customer service is zero and place is dirty ...food is normal nothing amazing. Walls are dirty next to tables like someone brew their nose on them. I will never go back there. Customers have to ask for folks to eat, another Customer had to say 2x Im here to pick up a order cuz 1st time was ignored..I ordered coke than when I said where is my coke server said we dont have coke ...(communicate than dammm)... horrible place ... I lot of asian pho places need to take classes in Customer service and put a smile on your face ...its FREE.

2023-08-04 18:14:02I really wanted to like this place as someone who lives and works in the area. I tried it a few times and each time different menu items. Every single time neither my husband nor I could finish. It never tasted good and had lots of issues. The service was always very lacking. Maybe I just got unlucky and caught them on bad days but after the 3rd try Im done. Sorry folks! Not for me.

2019-09-03 19:52:13I will give it zero star if I could. Ordered the signature beef noodle soup and there was a bug in it! Asked the waiter why there was a bug, he checked it by using the spoon to cut the bug into half in the bowl!!! Got no apology from them, but a cold ask: do you want to have another one? Absolutely not! Will never go again!
