Food is decent. I’ve had better noodles and presentation needs improvement. If you truly want to be a good noodle place - you have to have that flair for having the right balance of flavor and consistency. For me portions were good but I can understand why others feel it’s small. The ambiance is cute - it’s more of Hole in the wall feel. I gave it a 3 star because service is not up to par and food could be more authentic. We had to ask and waved our hands to get the servers attention. The male server you can tell he wasn’t happy to be there. He was short and I felt rushed when I was ordering and if you want to make a good tip. In this business, you got to show you care.

From web information then come here today.Stay besides window to feel the east culture in a guilt country town.Pork dumpling is the first show up, I am so surprised the soft dumpling skin which mix chili oil, it makes me feel Im in paradise.Noodle is the second after I finished dumpling for a while. The taste is perfectly bouncy. Pretty similar feeling with Axia..I will come back again next time.

Visited SLO, enjoyed dinner at Mee Heng Low Noodle House in Historic China Town. Ordered the Chicken Potstickers and Twice Cooked Pork and washed it down with a Firestone Premium Lager. Did not need to add soy sauce to the pork. Seating is limited, friendly courteous staff, worth a visit.

Not worth the money. Bottom line. Prices say 10 bucks online then you get there and its 14 and 16 bucks??? I was asked to pay over the phone on venmo before I got there. Very strange. Wonder if it helps in cheating people out of their money. When we got home we saw the serving size was half as much as expected. There was barely any chicken or vegetables and the noodles did not have a fresh texture. Sauce tasted like soy sauce they were trying to pawn off as there own. Huge dissapointment. Then I tried to call the place back just to let them know as some constructive criticism but the chick working there just said thank you for your feedback and hung up before I was done. Wish I wouldnt have tipped her $1.30 on $58.18 dollar tab. We got 4 things.

Great little find. Our favourite is the twice cooked pork. We also tried the noodle dishes which were all tasty. Main floor is order at counter and find a seat. If you are a larger group, upstairs is available. Rétro kitch décor. The musical choice was quite odd with Flight of the Bumblebee, which reminded me of Bugs Bunny. Half the fun is using the restaurant name in a sentence. Our best is: Got fired from the art gallery because Mee Heng Low the paintings.

Cute spot, but food is lacking flavor. I got the shrimp lo mein in ginger soy sauce ($19, barely a full portion), it included 7 shrimp and was very salty. Disappointed, I wont be back.

This place seems like it belongs in a little secret corner of San Francisco. The food was good, the atmosphere was very cozy. The food was a little salty but they have some home made coated peanuts that are out of this world.

The food we ordered was very salty and overly loaded with ginger. We also ordered chowmein it was burned and again very salty. No a good experience. Dont recommend this place at all. The waitress was handling money then crossed over to serving not using hand sanitizer or washing hands. Gross for sure.

Great food & homey ambiance. A SLO fixture. The #2 (twice cooked pork) is AWESOME. Food is pretty salty though, so if youre sensitive to salt, let them know ahead of time. Great service too....& theyre very reasonably priced, not sure why people are on here saying theyre expensive. I love this place!

My wife and I love the Noodle House, we have been there many times over the years and we were just commenting tonight how we are surprised its not packed every time we go. They have a smaller menu and we have had everything on it, it is all great. The potstickers are fantastic, my wife loves the soup bowl and I love all the noodle bowls, had the Chow mein tonight and it was superb. All the staff are friendly, and helpful. If your in the area we definitely recommend you give this great place a try.

Recently tried them for the first time. I ordered the tofu noodles with chili peanut sauce, and it tasted like nothing. The tofu was raw and the dish had literally no taste. Bummer.

Something has gone horribly wrong. The place is located in a historic Chinatown district, and theyve been open since the 1800s apparently. I suspect that its only still around due to tradition. All the employees seem to be Caucasian.I ordered the noodle soup and it tasted exactly like the fake Asian soup I try to make. Way too much cilantro. Way too much white pepper. The soup stock tasted ultra-processed. And most of all, the noodles tasted like regular pasta. I just found it really amusing and disappointing that the soup tasted exactly like the kind I make as a regular guy who knows nothing about Asian cooking trying to emulate it. It tasted okay at least.The lo mein, though. I got the chili peanut sauce, and something just tasted horrible at the very beginning. Almost toxic. I couldnt finish it. My dad said it tasted like it was from a can. But it was really offensive to me. I feel like I wasted $28. I dont think it deserves to be considered an Asian restaurant anymore. I really wish I could get my money back.The second star is for the almond cookies. They were really good. They were more like ginger cookies though with a lot of baking soda. One guy told us they were $0.75. And another guy told us they were a dollar. When the dollar person was told we got an offer of $0.75, they just said okay. Kind of weird. Tread lightly. Consider going elsewhere.

Delicious little hole in the wall. Would recommend their pork dumplings and low mein! I was a little surprised to see that they didnt serve alcoholic beverages, as a good imported beer sounded nice, but that doesnt take away from the amazing food we had!

The food was pretty decent, we ordered the chow mein with black bean sauce, dumplings and some bao. The chow mein had good flavor, could use more vegetables but side from that it was quite tasty. The bao was also very good. The only complaint we have was the amount of dumplings you get for the cost. They were good but steep in price. Ill have to come again for the live music, we just missed it as we were leaving.

Simple and good! this place has terrific noodles and soup and is a great stop before or after a movie at the Palm (next door) even tough it is only noodles and vegetables and various toppings the combinations are endless and the staff could give lessons to many other restaurants! Classic Chinese-American joint serving an array of traditional to eclectic noodle dishes, dim sum, and stellar beers and wines. Theres deli-style seating downstairs and sit-down service upstairs. On Wednesdays theyve got live jazz upstairs. The owner Paul is a San Luis Obispo fixture--truly a salt othe earth guy. I stop by at least once every time Im in town.

My favorite place to eat in SLO. If you dont eat here youve missed the boat. The chef also has an incredible history. Ask him about having Chris Issacs play for his customers at his previous restaurant down the street. He loves his customers!

The upstairs was in the process of being redecorated. We ate downstairs which has 2 booths and two tables. A very interesting note is that tea is not provided. If you want tea, you need to purchase on your own. Limited food selection.

My girlfriend and I wanted Chinese for dinner. I pulled up Google map on my phone and found Mee Heng Low (what ever, its their restaurant). I bought four items $37 total. Pricey. I got the chx chow mein and the chx was scarce. I was rummaging through the vegetables looking for bits of chx. The taste was bland and soggy. 😩I also ordered the shrimp low mein. Again skimpy on the shripmy. The noodles reminded me of the grocery store bowl noodles that you forget about in the microwave over night. Soggy on the bottom and old-hard on top. Still bland. Thank goodness for soy sauce and saracha packets.Next, was some under cooked doughy ball thing with four tiny pieces of dry chx. Im not sure of the price, but it ate the four pieces of chx and tossed the scary dough mess.The only decent piece of food was the potstickers, but those were obviously store bought and reheated.Guess what, Panda Express is just a few minutes away. Sorry owner of You Hang Low, but you want to Hang High fix your food.With Honesty Anthony B

The restaurant has been there many years, I believe when I was 4 or 5 my family eat there because even in the early 60s they were a family oriented place to go, Ive brought my children there as well and even in the 90s same thing, Great food and families are welcome, I always have a great meal when in SLO, even couples can enjoy good healthy food and a healthy atmosphere.
