SGD Tofu house is a staple tofu house located in the grocery outlet/ paris baguette/ Daeho plaza.Known for their tofu they offer plenty of options that works for all types of diets. This place has been here for more than a decade and lots of locals come often for their soondobu fix. They also have rice or ramen options if you ain’t feeling the tofu soupEver since Covid, their side dishes are no longer refillable but it still is quite a big portion size for everyone.If you come at peak hours you might need to wait 30-45min but still manageable. You can get a milk tea while waiting or after as there are plenty of options in the same plazaParking is easy but would recommend parking closer to the grocery outlet as the traffic light entrance can get congested easily.

We have been to this restaurant numerous times. This isbfirst time I tried their stone pot bimbap and it was hot and delicious, plus the banchan! We typically get their variations of tofu soup and spicy pork!

The spicy rice cake was delicious, little bit on the sweet side but it was very tasty. Sea food noodle was perfectly seasoned with fresh clams. Friendly staffs and nice cozy atmosphere, the price seemed reasonable.

Best Korean Tofu Soup in town, the quality and taste is good enough to survive in pride among Daeho and JSJ in the next door.As the name indicates, all you need is to order Tofu Soup, you cannot go wrong easily but my favorite is Spicy Kimchi version. The price is inflated but relatively inexpensive comparing to other places.

Been here a few times and the quality has been consistently good. They give side dishes in a bento box style tuberware so everyone gets their own. Kimchi was on point. The tofu soups are my favorite. They do not skimp on seafood and meat here - both the soups and the seafood pancakes was packed with ingredients (not just dough)

I just learned a new word banchan, means the small dishes served before the main course. And that’s all we had for 40 minutes before they brought out our tofu pot. The service is cold and rude. If you like Korean food like me, try somewhere else, or try order online, since this restaurant does not welcome dine in customer.

The ice cold soup and the chewy noodles from the mul naengmyeon (물냉면) was the perfect choice for a hot sunny day.The kimchi had a good amount of heat and sweetness and plenty of crunch while the fish cakes were soft and savory. There was also a lot of japchae which may explain the banchan being served in take away boxes and the higher than expected prices.

My go-to place for soon tofu (tofu stew), which is the specialty here (over 10+ varieties to choose from). They also serve some traditional Korean BBQ dish, such as galbi and spicy pork, on the menu, but the options are limited. I also tried the budae stew (army stew), theirs come in a large bowl and had very little substances inside. It was barely enough to fill me up, a bit disappointing.

Update: Dont order the crab tofu. It wasnt fresh last time I visited so Im taking one star off. Ive been going there for years. It has more options for tofu soups than other SGD locations. Still my favorite place to go if all I want is Korean tofu soup.

The restaurant was packed! Service was very good with staff checking on you often. The food was very tasty and plenty of it! I had the seafood soup (Hemul soon dubu). Lots and lots of clams, two large shrimp a d five small shrimp, plus scallops. This is a must try restaurant! I believe that you will return as I have!

On and off eat here for the past 20yrs except pandemic period. Yet... still my favorite Korean tofu soup set m3al in bay area. Simply jus good balance among taste, price and amount. Food flavor has been well maintained consistent. My favorite? ...the fish roe 🤭 ...not often offered at other restaurant.

To note, i have not gone to many tofu soup restaurants, but I thought this place was alright. It wasnt terrible but not anything to rave about.I ordered the chicken tofu soup and thought it was solid except when cracking the egg, it was not hot enough to fully cook it which was disappointing. Aside from this, their spicy rice cake was good but not mouthwatering. As a whole, everything seemed middling from the food, service, and environment.

A consistent favorite of mine for Soondubu if ur in the East Bay around Milpitas especially on a cold day. This location & it’s sister spot in Santa Clara are both so good; though I’d recommend bringing ur personal bags in with you due to car break-ins in the area (Santa Clara). I really love their dumplings (mandu) soondubu, and their side dishes (banchan) & glass noodles (japchae). Tasty lunch spot, but it gets crowded... so try to beat the crowds there!

Ordered seafood pancake and budae stew: half of the pancake was overcooked (dark brown color) and the other half was very soft (light yellow color); Budae stew tasted like red shin ramyun, which I can easily make at home and mine tastes better. Not to mention the long wait throughout the whole dining when there was no waiting line to get in. Will never come back!

Went to this place a couple of times, both for lunch and dinner. We ordered different soft tofu items (at the mild level of spiciness). The soft tufu are all the same price and we got the same menu for lunch and dinner. I like this simplicity. The food is good as are the side dishes. Depends on the day and time the wait can be long (30 minutes or more). Service is relatively quick. Parking lot is for the whole plaza and can be full.

I love their vegetable tofu soup! Its awesome! Service is a little slow during peek lunch hour, so avoid this place if you want to have a quick office lunch break. However, the food is really yummy!

This is a very simple open area restaurant, nothing fancy looking here. The food though is pretty delicious. They are a typical tofu house where you can just order a tofu and eat it with rice. They also offer various bbq dishes, which were also tasty, but it was a little fattier than Id expected (shorts ribs). If you like Korean food, definitely give it a try.

The take out experience was not great. I was told itd take 30 min for pick up but ended up to be almost an hour. The beef soft tofu was mediocre and kimchi was tasteless. The restaurant was fully packed at 5:30pm. The servers were handling both dine in and take out customers which added to the wait time. Maybe the dine in experience will be better.

Arguably the best place for soft tofu in the east/south bay (that Ive found). Much better than its neighbor Jang Su Jang. The banchan selection is okay. Its generally good but nothing beyond the ordinary. What you do get is a quick service delivering yummy soft tofu soups shortly after ordering. Theres likely going to be a wait on the weekends but the line moves fairly quickly. My only beef is due to its popularity, it frequently runs out of banchan options later in the evening. It pays off to show up early. Itll start with the noodles, followed by the the potatoes, fish cakes, and eventually nothing but seaweed and kimichi.

Large variety of sides served with their standard soups, all very good. Kimchi was mild and the hot option for soup was also fairly mild. Small selection of soju from standard cold to fruit added, nothing fancy. All in all, while the menu items look relatively expensive, the quantity and quality of food exceeded expectations.

Tofu soup here is top notch as well as the bulgogi and galbi if you’re interested. Wait time can be expected during the peak hours so go at odd times at best. The japchae and sides have slightly shrank during COVID times but that’s anticipated.

This place will fulfill that soft tofu soup craving you have.Its a tofu house, so get one of their soft tofu soups. (though their bibimbap is good too :3 ) I got the mushroom tofu soup because I LOVE mushrooms! and the food came out relatively fast, I didnt even feel like there was that much of a wait! Their BANCHAN was super yummy! I really like their kimchi, it was really tasty. They also give you glass noodle dish, pickled cucumbers, and potatoes. The TOFU SOUP was flavorful, I decided to get the medium spicy and I could barely taste the spiciness (It could be that im just used to eating spicy food in general). their broth was very savory and really gave the tofu some good flavor :) I think next time I would want to try their cold noodles, it looked really good.Their service could have been better. It is usually pretty packed, but I had to ask the servers multiple times for more water and that got really annoying. They also give you the check at your table and you go up to the cashier to pay, and with your check they give you melon gum! it was a nice way to end the meal :) Overall though I would recommend this place if you crave soft tofu!

When you have lunch here, they serve you the accompanying plates of.. oodles, kimchee, marinated fish, and tofu among a few other things. All these dishes (I forget the formal name of them) are quite good and I could just eat them as my meal if I had n further plates. I really liked the clear-ish noodles that was in that set. I had the Beef w/Tofu Hotpot Lunch which came with Rice but this was a mix-up as my companion had order the beef and I the chicken made extra spicy. Instead the beef cam extra spicy and we switched since I like the heat and he may not have been able to handle. The rice comes in a large pot and as we were three, the server came by and portioned the communal serving into our three bowls. When the main order was server it came in boiling hot and bubbling like a clay pot or hot plate to which I added my raw egg. To my surprise, the heat was not enough to fully cook my raw egg as it cooked no further than about halfway and remained mostly runny. That was not an issue, it just... was. The flavor of the beef w/tofu was a bit disappointing as I was hoping for a stronger flavor. Not sure what I would be getting but expected something a bit more stewy vs. the soupy consistency, but again, that is not a criticism, just an observation. It was neither salty or sweet and was more on the bland side. Portion was adequate but it did not strike me as very spicy. I would return to try other dishes as I believe this is a worthwhile establishment for a tofu house to keep trying.

So Gong Dong Tofu House was a mouthful (to pronounce), but even more deliciously so! Its been two Fridays in a row that I have opted to come here on my lunch break. Although the first time did not go as smoothly, my coworker and I were glad that we gave it another shot.The first time we were at So Gong Dong, the service was definitely lacking and we were convinced both by the decor and how busy it was, that this was just how the restaurant was run. However, the most recent time convinced us otherwise!This tofu house has a more extensive list of tofu soups and dishes than any other Korean restaurant that I have ever been to. I love choices! I was really surprised that they offer both a generic seafood tofu soup, as well as a crab tofu soup. Both were tasty and flavorful, but my only gripe is that its such a big hassle and mess when you have to peel each individual shrimp... And the crab I got yielded very little meat. It may just be a personal preference, but I think the shellfish would have been better enjoyed if they had their shells removed prior to being served. On the same note, the (spicy) beef tofu soup was perfect and really hit the spot. For those who love the taste of kimchi, the kimchi tofu soup is a good choice as it came packed with kimchi flavor. It was a little overwhelming though, for someone like me, who wasnt that fond kimchi in the first place.To go with our tofu soups, we were also given some side dishes to share, along with some rice.Although the restaurant seems run down and all of its furniture old and mismatched, the food here takes all the credit in giving this place a 4-star rating. Will be back!!

Definitely a classic spot in Milpitas. I have come with parties of all sizes, definitely suggest getting there early as the place gets busy. The food is great for the convenience of being local, and the dishes are exactly what you would expect. Banchan is ready once youre seated, and the tofu soup is the highlight as its the best around the area.

A no-nonsense sort of traditional Korean restaurant. The banchan, japchae and kimchi were all tasty. Seafood pancake had lots of little tentacled legs in it. The spicy pork could have been spicier but was hearty. Staff was focused and constantly moving, a little hard to flag down, but they really know how to turn out a dinner service. Price was good for the amount of food too.

Went there a week ago. Order kalbi, 2 tofu soup, & spicy rice cake. The order for 4 people. The waiting wasnt too long which is good. The food was ok. Need more seasoning. The soup taste is good. The downhill here is the service we got. Other table got a lot more banchan than us. They only have us couple of banchan. And when I asked for more...., they keep ignoring us. Its even harder for us just to get the drinks. Theyre only fast when its time for us to pay the bill. Food: good. Customer service: worst. Come back? Definitely not.

Another one in the SGD tofu empire. Not that Im complaining. I still prefer the Santa Clara location, which is my favorite, since they have cheese there. I also think the SC spam tofu is better than the one at this location, which has beef sausage and its not very good. Otherwise, I like the banchan at the Milpitas location - the kimchi is on the sweet side (my preference), and the japchae is good. I also like that they give you some nori to go with your tofu soup and rice. The seafood pancake is on point and the bibimbap looked delicious.

Tofu house is one a gem shining by jangsu jang. True to it’s name, the tofu soup is good. Complementary japchae as a side dish. The kimchi is good mix of sour and spicy. tteokbokki leaves more to be desired though.

I’ve been a regular at this restaurant since they first opened and the food here is consistently good and solid. The upside: The taste of the soup rivals those in LA and the side dishes like their fishcake and kimchee is legendary. The downside: The price keeps rising every time I go, but it’s worth the splurge once in a while, but I’m getting tired of their use of the plastic bento boxes for in-person dining. It’s a good solution for to-go and was acceptable during the height of the pandemic, but I don’t think it’s acceptable anymore. I don’t know if all the plastic is being recycled or not. I’m guessing it’s mostly going into the trash. Not only that, but I don’t want to be continuously be exposed to plastics in my food if possible. The rice and some of the side dishes are hot. I’m putting hot soup into the plastic bento box. I hope the owners read these comments and make adjustments. I will give them 5 stars when this happens.

The mild flavor of seafood soft tofu allows you to enjoy just the right amount of hot soft tofu.Grilled ribs, the basic fish cake seasoning, bean sprout seasoning, and japchae are all delicious.The servers were friendly and I was able to enjoy a delicious dinner despite my poor condition during the trip.
