Milpitas SGD Tofu House
231 W Calaveras Blvd, Milpitas, CA 95035, United States
So Gong Dong Tofu House was a mouthful (to pronounce), but even more deliciously so! Its been two Fridays in a row that I have opted to come here on my lunch break. Although the first time did not go as smoothly, my coworker and I were glad that we gave it another shot. The first time we were at So Gong Dong, the service was definitely lacking and we were convinced both by the decor and how busy it was, that this was just how the restaurant was run. However, the most recent time convinced us otherwise! This tofu house has a more extensive list of tofu soups and dishes than any other Korean restaurant that I have ever been to. I love choices! I was really surprised that they offer both a generic seafood tofu soup, as well as a crab tofu soup. Both were tasty and flavorful, but my only gripe is that its such a big hassle and mess when you have to peel each individual shrimp... And the crab I got yielded very little meat. It may just be a personal preference, but I think the shellfish would have been better enjoyed if they had their shells removed prior to being served. On the same note, the (spicy) beef tofu soup was perfect and really hit the spot. For those who love the taste of kimchi, the kimchi tofu soup is a good choice as it came packed with kimchi flavor. It was a little overwhelming though, for someone like me, who wasnt that fond kimchi in the first place. To go with our tofu soups, we were also given some side dishes to share, along with some rice.Although the restaurant seems run down and all of its furniture old and mismatched, the food here takes all the credit in giving this place a 4-star rating. Will be back!!

I came here on a Saturday afternoon, and it was pretty busy!! Despite being a packed house, it didnt take long to order and getting my food. I really love açaí bowls just because of all the fresh fruit, and smoothie-like base with assorted toppings of fruit and granola.《Food》I ordered the Dragon Bowl Z, Beautiful AF, and Blueberry Nice Cream. Both smoothies I got bases of coconut water (cashier recommended too), since I cant drink milk. I honestly really enjoyed eating the bowl, I couldnt finish it so I saved half for later and it was still good by then! I liked Beautiful AF smoothie more than the Blueberry Nice Cream, because it just tasted sweeter. I dont think I liked the hemp granola and flax seed in my (Blueberry Cream) smoothie.《Customer Service》The customer service was super! The friendly cashier gave me great recommendations and was patient, since I was struggling on deciding on what to order.I would definitely come back if Im in the area again!Edit:My second time here, I was more comfortable in ordering since I got to meet the owners behind RAWSF and understand what theyre business really is and how they became a business. Its definitely not your typical açaí/smoothie-joint; what theyre business is, is a lifestyle. They made this business because of the lack of healthy places in the surrounding area. They wanted to give people an alternative place to go to and be the convenient plant-based restaurant around. Why go to a McDonalds, when you can get something very healthy (having tons of health benefits) and deliciously refreshing instead?!This time I ordered a Cosmic Dream 2.0 w/out the pumpkin seeds but with goji berries instead. Ive tried their DBZ bowl before, so their bowls do not disappoint. I also ordered a Beautiful smoothie w/ coconut water making it sweeter. For some reason, it tasted better than the first time I got it...I really enjoyed the smoothie! And tried their Walnut latte, which really had that natural & nutty/toasty notes to the flavor which made it interesting.Ive also never had a plant-based burger before. They use Beyond patties for their burgers, and honestly I couldnt taste the diffence from a meat patty. There was so much flavor, and better yet, I didnt feel that heaviness or tired-feeling after eating it. It was so light & tasty, that I wish there was another place close to me selling this!
Hapa Musubi
1658 S Milpitas Blvd, Milpitas, CA 95035, United States
The FoodMusubi is a pretty popular quick snack found in most Hawaiian restaurants. But it is uncommon to have a location that specialize in the snack, until Hapa Musubi opened. They specialize only in musubi, a simple Hawaiian and Japanese influenced meal. With a variety of options, I got several to try.- Chicken Teriyaki- Pineapple & Spam- Chicken Katsu- Cali RollThey were all pretty good, but I liked the Cali Roll and Pineapple & Spam the best. There are still quite a bit of other options so Ill need to return to try the others. The MiscellaneousHapa Musubi is within the shops of downtown, so getting by foot will be easier than by car. The inside is not big, but there are seating for those who want to sit down for a bite. The interior have quite the coloring and aesthetic, along with, quite literally, a wall of spam. They have a good selection of musubi to choose from, along with some side items. They prices are not bad, though I wish they were lower, it reasonable for downtown. Definitely recommend to give it a try if you are around the area.
YGF Malatang
540 Barber Ln, Milpitas, CA 95035, United States
Considering its a franchise straight from China, I think this is the best malatang spot in the Bay! The most important tip is to get on the yelp wait-list before you head over! I went on a Saturday afternoon and got on the wait-list around 12:20pm. I didnt get called to go in till 1:15pm. Less than 1 hour wait is actually pretty fair in the Bay but I can only guess itll go up once more and more people find out about this place. When its finally your turn to go in, the host will run some instructions by you if you tell them its your first time. Its really simple and requires a lot of self control (on my end). Grab a bowl, get a tong and shimmy down the line grabbing whatever your stomach calls for. The staff were great at keeping ingredients stocked and we waited barely a moment for the fresh meats to be brought out. They have a lot of quality ingredients and many that Ive never seen at other restaurants. Its very very easy to overdo it at this step so exercise self control!Once youve filled your bowl, you head to the cashier and they weigh your ingredients (the weight of the bowl is deducted) and you pay a little under $15 per pound. You choose from the 3 cooking options, beef broth, tomato broth and spicy dry pot. I recommend the beef broth on medium spice. Its a perfect meal for this current cold season were experiencing. When you pay, you tell them the table number that your host gives you when you were called in or let them know its for to go. There should be no issues with communication cause the staff I interacted with were trilingual - English, Mandarin, and surprisingly Cantonese!!!Really happy with my experience and I look forward to my next visit.
Poke Xpress
1236 S Abel St, Milpitas, CA 95035, United States
This is the best poke you can get in the South Bay. I've been going here at least once a week for the a year now since it's 5 mins away from work. The business is family owned and operated by a sweet caring couple. They feel like family to me at this point. Poke Xpress is the best priced in the entire Bay Area and you'll leave full! They have milk and fruit tea for under $5, and also offer sushi rolls and salad bowls. Their fish is very fresh since they get deliveries every other day. I enjoy getting half sushi rice and half brown rice (it's Korean mixed rice). They have 3 sizes of bowls and a combo which is a regular bowl and 6pcs of California Roll. I'd recommend getting a regular bowl that comes with 3 scoops of protein. I usually get tuna, salmon, and yellowtail as my choices of protein or you can sub out salmon for spicy salmon (like minced spicy tuna). The standouts for toppings are usually the macaroni salad which is lightly dressed and jalapeños. For dry toppings it'll be hot Cheetos and fried onions. All of their sauces are made in house and many have tried to ask them for their recipes. Spicy Mayo and Ponzu is a good standard combo, mango sauce is fruity but best as on the side, and wasabi mayo has a crazy kick. The wasabi mayo impressed me because usually at poke joints, they buy premade sauces.A nice thing is that they have a stamp card, for every ten bowls you'll get a free drink.Always eat at the place if you can, it always tastes better than taking it to go!
pho & bun
1810 Milmont Dr, Milpitas, CA 95035, United States
Pho & Bun in Milpitas will definitely suffice your cravings for some delicious Vietnamese food. This place absolutely deserves a 5-star rating.I was starving when I walked in, but thankfully, the service was incredibly fast. I didnt have to wait long at all before I was enjoying a steaming bowl of pho. The temperature of the pho was just perfect, and I didnt have to wait or be extra cautious before I slurped. We tried two different pho options - the PHỞ TÁL NAM, BO VIÊN (rare steak, flank, and meatball), and the PHỞ TÁI, BÒ VIÊN (rare steak and meatball). Both were phenomenal! The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the meat was tender and delicious. Truth be told, I inhaled that bowl. It was gone within 5-7 minutes. The portions for both the meat and the noodles were very generous. Each pho came with the side of leafy greens and veggies as one would expect. Hot pho after a hike on a cold and rainy day - the expectations were high, and this placed delivered in every aspect. No Vietnamese meal is complete without Vietnamese coffee, and Pho & Bun did not disappoint. Their coffee was amazing! It struck the perfect balance of sweetness and strong, intense coffee flavor. Just be warned, it comes packed with ice, so the actual coffee content is a little less. You can always ask them for light ice.The restaurant itself has a lovely Vietnamese interior with beautiful wall paintings. It creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements their delicious food.Overall, Pho & Bun in Milpitas is a fantastic spot for Vietnamese cuisine. The fast service, amazing coffee, and incredible pho make it a true gem. I highly recommend checking it out!
Asian Bowl
790 E Tasman Dr, Milpitas, CA 95035, United States
We visited this place last Friday. We ordered Manchurian Sizzler, Malaysian Roti Prata,Passion Fruit Lemonade and Hazelnut Bliss. This place has good ambience and was not too crowded. The Malaysian Roti Prata was fresh, flaky and sauce was flavourful.Passion Fruit Lemonade was very refreshing and had real passion fruit pulp in it.The Hazelnut Bliss(Vietnamese Coffee) had a nice taste and we loved the flavor of the coffee. The Manchurian sizzler plate had Spring Rolls instead of fries(because they were out of fries). The spring rolls were crispy and tasty. The Veg Manchurian balls were crispy and had good taste. Fried rice and Noodles were a little bland but when combined with the sauce given both tasted very delicious. Everything was very tasty overall. But I think for 18$ the quantity was a little less(probably because of inflation, cant blame them). The fact that this place is fully vegetarian and all the dishes we ordered were flavourful, would make us go back to this place again to try out some more dishes. Best Indo Chinese food in Bay area.
Obaitori

Gyokai Normal $17.00,Homemade Chicken Karaage 5pc $8.00,Total $ 31.00 ($25.00 + $2.35 Tax - $1.09 Cash Discount + $4.74 Tip)The reviews on Google Maps were quite high, so we decided to visit this time.Weekdays Just before 8pm on a Wednesday, two groups were inside eating, apparently the last customers before closing.Soup: Although its called seafood, it has a faint taste of dried sardines, and is easy to drink without being too addictive. The temperature is just right, not lukewarm.Noodles: Medium-thick, straight, with just the right amount of firmness, which I personally like.Boiled egg: The yolk has a light American color, but its perfectly half-cooked and has no aftertaste.Char siu: Thin, chewy and firm, rather similar to ham. Its well seared and browned. Personally, I like the melt-in-your-mouth type, so I guess its not good. Looking at past photos, it looks like some of them were mushy, so I wonder if theyve changed them recently.Shinachiku: It doesnt have any strange taste and has just the right texture and is just delicious.Spinach: Not bad, not bad. Personally, I dont think I need it.Fried chicken: The ginger and soy sauce seasoning was so strong that I wanted white rice. I wonder if it could be a little lighter in flavor. The batter is thick and crispy. Shishito peppers came as a bonus.Overall review: It was delicious. You could say its no different from the ramen you eat in Japan. Both the ramen and fried chicken were delicious. If youre nearby for dinner, I might consider it as an option. Its a little different from my favorite ramen, so next time Ill try the tsukemen, which is highly rated in the reviews. However, considering that the yen is now weak and it costs ¥4,500 when converted to 145 yen, I might be hesitant.
Sen Dai Sushi
224 N Abel St, Milpitas, CA 95035, United States
Our favorite neighborhood sushi stop. We like this place for the sushi and the people are friendly. We usually order just sushi but several kinds to share as a group: Rainbow, Caterpillar, Sweet Spot, Spider and Stormbringer. Occasionally we get Agedashi tofu or tempura as appetizers, both tasty. I am a fan of spider because it is a soft shell crab. A small restaurant which fills early so you need to show up when it opens otherwise you might wait awhile.
Lucky Soul Diner (Jeonju K- Cuisine)
50 Dixon Rd, Milpitas, CA 95035, United States
Great korean restaurant for tofu soups! They come with free appetizers. The tofu soups also come with rice. I ordered the beef tofu soup, kimchi tofu soup and steam egg. The difference in color is due to medium spice level and spicy spice level. Save some gas from traveling to Santa Clara and come here!
