Okawa Steak House & Sushi in Santee

This is an awesome little place tucked into a very low key location! We made reservations for the hibachi table for 6, recommended but walk ins can also be seated at open tables, and were seated right away. Being a Sunday night, it was busy the entire time.Staff were terrific, from the moment we were seated we were taken care of with drinks, appetizers, main orders, refills, check ins, and entertainment.Daniel was our chef, he was upbeat, warm, funny, and very entertaining with the cooking and Shenanigans.Great quality of steaks, seafood, and chicken, all cooked to your preference and flavored beautifully -its a good portion of food too, if you have the will power to leave some they make excellent leftovers. 😉 They also have items not hibachi, such as a good variety of sushi rolls (cooked & raw), noodles, rices, soups.Plenty of easy close parking and quick access to the freeway.

Food was yummy, the prices were good for what you get. It’s pretty fun to watch the food being cooked right at your table. Overall fun and good place to eat.Lost a star because staff was just going through the motions, chef had a AirPod in his ear, nothing extra, while tables and utensils were all clean, the floors needed a good sweep and the walls and baseboards need a good wipe down or coat of paint.

I love this place. Ive been coming here a few years now and the food is always really good.The food is good and flavorful. They give good portions for the price as well.The service is also really good. Both the hostess and the waiters are really nice. The servers are on top of taking used dishes out of the way and refills. The chefs also do a good job keeping the table entertained and of course, making the food.The place is very clean, including the bathrooms. Which is nice. I hate going to places where everything is perfect but the bathrooms are gross. So, thats definitely a plus.

Came here on a Thursday at 5 pm. That was the most perfect time to go since a couple minutes later, the whole restaurant got filled.We love getting the combo plate for 2. It includes two sets of soup, salad, rice, noodles, shrimp, chicken, and steak. I could not get a picture of my plate since they give you the food items one by one. Too delicious to wait!I also like the presentation of how they make the food. And funny ways they interact while making the food. Its a special place to go with my family and definitely look forward to going back.

I call trying to make a reservation and the guy said we should walk in even though he could make a reservation, I asked if it would get busy and he said no. He just sounded rude and lazy over the phone. We showed up to a packed house and when I explained the phone he just ignored me. The food is good here but the service everytime is terrible and I give up on dining with them

Hibachi grills are fun and offer a bunch of different types of meat, but this one wasnt impressive. It was a lot more expensive than most meals, and literally all the meat was overcooked. The shrimp were cooked 3x as long as they should have been, and the medium rare steak was well done.

Great local spot! Our first time here, and we were pleasantly surprised. We decided last minute to try a new place near home (Santee), and opted for Okawa Sushi.Glad we did. It was date night so we enjoyed the ambience, romantic lighting and the option to sit with group at hibachi grill or privately at table for 2. We opted for table for 2. I ususally only sit at booths (even if I have to wait a long time), but they have none...unfortunately.You can also sit at the sushi bar which is a nice option for more social people (unlike me.. lol). It was kinda noisy, but good vibes and happy customers and staff. Dont come for a quiet meal.We ordered veggie fried noodles, avocado roll customized to a jalepeno roll, sweet potatoe roll, house salad and mochie ice creams. Enough good vegetarian options, and all that for under $30 (not including tip). Food was fresh, good, and brought out fast!It was a nice experience and we will definitely go back.

First time eating there was the reason we went back. We were actually treated better and it wasnt such a mess to get seated. The white boy is probably the only decent server in there. Despite calling ahead reservation no one was properly assisting guest in so my daughter & i were squeezed standing behind the guest in front of us. Apparently we were standing to close to other people because a waiter felt the need to tell me really close in my face. I was so annoyed with everything, that i requested my food to go and didnt bother even Tipping. Last time i was there i tipped over 20$ because the waiter did his part. As for this time it was horrible, we probably wont return.

I ordered Chicken Tatsuta, but got glorified chicken mcnuggets made up of ground up processed chicken instead of whole meat chicken. This is my only complaint and the reason I took away a star rating. The sushi was really good. I hope the make the effort to elevate the chicken tatsuta to a level worthy to be sold in a restaurant made with real whole meat chicken. Otherwise they should take it off the menu.

Okawa Steak House located in Santee is delicious. I ordered the sweetie roll, which is the pretty one and the Santee roll. They were both delicious. We sat at the sushi bar area. They also have seating were you can get sushi or many other things on their menu.They do have large tables were they cook in front of you. Yes, like Bennihannas but smaller. All diners were enjoying the show and there food.I strongly suggest trying Okawa.You wont be disappointed!!!
