I almost gave up on Vietnamese food on the island. So many places with terrible food. Not fresh, not good quality. This little place is absolutely perfect. Good prices, good quality, good serving sizes and a very nice staff working here. We felt very welcomed right away and well taken care of. We sat in the window and ate like time didnt exist. What.a wonderful experience. And they have a parking lot :)

I’ve had a few meals here and think it’s a decently priced place with tasty food. The shop owners are also really friendly.I recommend the banh mis as they are flavorful and good value!The last time I went my friend and I had the speciality soups which honestly were just okay. Nice and warming but the flavors weren’t as punchy as we thought they should be.I’ll be back for banh mis and to try the pho. Good place to grab a snack or get some warm soup on a cold or rainy day.

Great little place. Visiting from Ohio. The Pho was delicious. Gave generous amounts of all meats in soup. Also plenty of throw in vegetables. Service courteous and not over attentive. Owner took his early dinner as we were leaving. Was funny not bad!!! Also my niece got a delicious and generous banh mi the previous day. Ill recommend to anyone!!!! Keep up the great work

I gave it a two star only for being clean. Ordered #18 three pieces of tiny chicken and it taste more like chicken soup than the actual pho. Waitress seemed bothered when you asked her anything. Won’t be back.

Great Vietnamese food! Just like in Vietnam and I know because I traveled that country for 3 months. Its a family place and its quite busy but they work fast so, not a problem. I ordered pork Bun Cha and it was great. The service was nice, helpful and fast enough.

I had a craving for Banh Mi. My little bro told me about this spot. Well today I needed my fix, so I took a drive. As I walked in I was greeted by a very nice friendly and respectful lady who asked me to take a seat. So, I did right where there was a stack of menus and I grabbed one. I wanted to try different meats to see which one I liked the best. My brother wanted the shredded pork so I got one too. Then I ordered a chicken and a beef. I know that is a lot but I needed my fix! I hope you understand? LOL Yes I can eat especially when I crave something I have not had in a long time. I told the Lady I will wait outside in my truck and she said she would bring the food out to me. Is that sweet or what. The wait was not that long and she did bring the food out in a very professional and friendly manner. So, to me the service was very nice. Me and brother drove to our hangout and was getting sun and eating outside. Nice day. I tried the pork first which was very good and had some very hot green chile which I love. Then the chicken, again very good and tasty with that heat which I loved. I told my brother when I write the review I will use a word that I never use to describe food? I said I will use the word lovely. I told my brother these were some lovely sandwiches. LOL! I know that sounds funny but they were very lovely sandwiches! Lastly the beef, I preferred the other two. The beef for some reason did not have the heat and flavor as the pork and chicken but still good but not as good as the other two. The Banh Mi from this place all in all quenched my craving in a very nice way. So, well worth the trip and I will try other dishes when I have the craving for Vietnamese Food. My brother told me there are other dishes I should try like their pho. I recommend Rang Dong for their very nice service and very lovely Banh Mi! Alameda you have a hidden gem on your hands so show your support and go get some! Thank You Rang Dong! 5 Stars!!

I don’t know how this Bussiness has good reviews, but this is my first time come to try out their foods.I ordered soups Bun Bo Hue, few noodles in it, water Roth taste so bad couldn’t get few spoonOrdered 2 Bánh Mì chả and beef to go, taste so bad when I bring home for my girlfriend to eat, she couldn’t eat, I try they tasted so bad.Hope they figure out to make better taste and healthy foods.sometime not trust on people reviews true of fault who know.I would happy if they have better chef in future

My favorite spot for a Vietnamese specialized noodle: Bun Rieu (Tomato Soup). Its typically difficult to find a restaurant that make this soup with flavor. Rang Dong is by far the best I have tried as far as the Bun Rieu is concerned. The slow cooked pork ribs (falls off bone), the fried tofu, pork blood cake, egg soup & scallions with bean sprouts, cilantro and slice jalapenos on the side. Youll be surprised of how tasty this soup is. Good Luck!

Rang Dong is a wonderful, family run old school Vietnamese restaurant with delicious food and warm service. We got three dishes: banh xeo, bun boe hue, and a broken rice plate.The banh xeo was definitely the star of the evening: fresh, crisp, and extremely tasty. It was our first time getting this dish, and the auntie waiting on us was kind enough to show us how to roll the lettuce wraps. We were thinking this was an appetizer, but in reality it could have been either a full meal for one or an appetizer for 3-4 people.The bun boe hue was a generous portion with tender, fatty meat. I expected a bit more spice in the soup base, but this was easy to fix with the table side condiments.The broken rice plate was well done as well - pork grilled to perfection, rice exceedingly fragrant and toothsome.Restaurant was clean and efficient. All in all a great find - come for the food, stay for the warm service.

Been coming here over 5 years, starting when it was in Chinatown. Unfortunately, the old location burned down, but the owners are working hard to rebound and have all the classic dishes from the old restaurant. The owners always welcome customers with a smile and are attentive and take pride in their establishment. I enjoy the pho in winter and cold vermicelli in summer as well as a lemon soda or iced coffee.

The broth is really favorable and tasty. It is clean. Wheelchair accessable. The portion size is really a great deal. They speak Chinese, Vietnamese and English. Parking sucks, but what is expected in Chinatown.

Seems to be a hit with carnivores. Not very veg friendly, though. The tofu banh mi is dry (no sauce of any kind) and consists of way more carrots than tofu (which is fried, and not seasoned in any way). They also have a salad thats primarily shredded cabbage with some fried tofu and pickled carrots & daikon radish, and veggie spring rolls (the peanut sauce is yummy!). It is the only Vietnamese place within walking distance from me, so I cave and come here once in a blue moon. Would be great if they expanded their veggie options. I know its possible! Lots of decent veg-friendly Vietnamese places out there. The lady who takes the orders is super sweet. I think Im a return customer because of her.

We ordered the spring roll for appetizer.... the roll is very crispy and the fillings are tasty. They only serve one size pho... large size. We ordered rare steak, well done flank, and tendon. The tendon is soft but I didnt get that much meat, although the soup is really tasty. I also wish we had more of the side condiments (basil & bean sprouts).. i didnt ask for more, but I think they will not hesitate to provide more since two of us ordered the same thing.

Rang Dong is one of my go to restaurants. I come here at least twice a month for take out and the staff is always very helpful and friendly when I pick up. They use door dash so you can order thru the app.

The pho no. 11 was pretty good and the broth was delicious too. I went here with friends and we ordered no. 11s. The waitress was nice to us so it was great service. Fast too. It even had a lot of people that day and those waitresses work pretty fast.

This place has really good food with big proportions! The wait staff although maybe the owner and wife, were very nice! I love good customer service and am happy to say I got it here. A little cold tho, we had to wear our jackets inside the restaurant. Everyone else did too. I will come back here often.

This is a pretty good place to stop in. The presentation of the entrees are good. For what you pay, you get a decent volume of food. Most of the flavor is there. The grilled meat actually tastes grilled, and not pan seared, which is automatically a plus. A little lacking would be the slightly bland skewers. Otherwise I still continue to come here.

Stopped by with a friend for dinner to fill my Pho craving. The service was prompt and friendly. They were able to accommodate my friends request for no noodles and more mixed lettuce. We enjoyed our meals and left with full stomaches. Would return here if I am in the area again.

VacI came in for quick bowl of pho and sour plum drink. There is a charming older lady, who must be a proprietor. She was so pleasant. The food came quickly. 4 slices of beef for $9 + plus the accompaniments. Fine. The sour plum soda came with a salty lime and a can of soda and heaps of sugar on ice. Since the sugar was not listed on the menu as an ingredient for the drink, I requested a change, from a male waitperson. He was surly, said to me you did not say you don;t want sugar. Unpleasant, unfriendly and looks like a proprietor. No point arguing that this wasnt a sour plum but a salted lime. I did get another order of sour plum, without the sugar in the glass. What a mixed experience!

Food is good but the service and atmosphere left something to be desired. It had a peculiar smell and the table were t as clean as they should be. They also only split checks two ways. Meaning they combine everything into one check, have to take a picture, and then they split it down the middle. Its ridiculous! Honestly, even though the food was good I wont be returning. Very disappointing service!A group of four of us came in one hour before closing. Food service took awhile which we didnt mine but they expected us to finish or pack our food within 15 min of it being served!I noticed a Man & woman who came after us were served before us but i tried not to make a deal out of it.As my party was half way through the meal, the employees turned the lights on to the restaurant & shut the lighted sign off, then after I paid the bill and after i told them we werent done eating they were insistent and turned ALL the remaining lights on as to make a point.The gentleman at the restaurant then told us we were taking too long (7min after closing) and that they could not stay forever. Are you kidding me!? 7 min after closing! If you didnt want to wait you could have told us to order take out. I will NEVER come here again! WORST service EVER!!

I would always order some rice plate or bowl of noodle.Traditional vietnamese cuisine cooked by great people.I would always order my pho noodle uncooked because you can keep the texture of the noodle if you cook the noodle at home when ordering togo.

Walking through Chinatown, trying various restaurants, hubby and I decided on some phó. Grand idea, as it turned out. Good phó and spring rolls, attentive staff, sauces guaranteed to blister you. Twice, in fact. 😁Went back next day for solid food. Yum. Lemon grass chicken to die for. As a matter of fact, the chicken did. Scrumptious. I thought the owner would burst into tears when I ordered extra peanut sauce for my fluffy rice. Oh, nooo, spoil taste. So bad!We forgot our ice cream dessert and returned. He was wringing his hands with happiness that we did return and gave us beaming smiles and dessert.I will go back again.

I love pho soup and this is the best I have found in the Bay Area. NOT fake pho. Others use chicken broth to cut corners. The broth at Rang Dong is the real deal (slow simmered from beef stock). Also rice noodles are perfectly al dente firmness. I drive through the tunnel from Orinda. Parking sucks in Oakland Chinatown. But there is a parking garage on the north side (right side) of Webster two blocks before Rang Dong.
