Fast service and very decent sushi rolls(not cheap!). Their Hokaido scallop ramen is also very tasty. The best part is that they will give you a coupon which can be redeemed for rolls during your next visit.

Ive only gotten take-out from this store but frequently order party-size platters since the quality of the sushi is just excellent. Fresh fish roe and bonito flakes and top quality seafood. It is a little on the pricey side (just 1 of the 8-pc rolls runs anywhere from 18 - 25$) but its worth it. Love this place.The only thing I dislike are the seared rolls. I got one that was a little burnt on the top (maybe from a torch), and they tended to have a butane aftertaste.

Overall a friendly restaurant and has a good amount of seating tables. Nice decor and music. Prices were average and comparable 10$-30$. Has fast and friendly staffing, was seated and served within minutes of entering which deserves more stars just for that. I ordered the Tonkostu ramen which the broth was not very flavorful which made the noodles not so appetizing for this visit. I also ordered a Spicy Tuna roll which was tastey but very easy to have fall apart when picking up, did not feel held together.

Their tempura and katsu was very good. The curry has a bit of kick and not overly sweet, surprised it had beef in it. The rolls and nigiri was a mixed bag where some combination didnt match and some ingredients was well prepared and others not as fresh. All dishes came out really fast, wished it was paced a little better allowing us to finish the appetizers first so we didnt have to hurry to clear space for the entrees.

Solid sushi, Wasabi isnt watered down and it has some kick. Presentation was good and flavors were excellent. Service was pretty meh but they took the order and were prompt with the check if not exactly attentive.

I have tried a few Japanese cuisine restaurant in the bay area, but Spiral was by far the best. The food was expensive, but the taste, texture, and quality is definitely worth it. If I had one complaint, it would be the lack of liveliness in the servers 🤔 but maybe its just the masks 😄.

Hello we had just had lunch for the last time here, the service was absolutely horrible and rude, weve been coming here for over 10 years and never seen it so bad, I never received my order it took longer than expected and we were ignored by all the servers, and the food of my boyfriend was horrible the teriyaki beer was fatty and the food was not cooked properly, we will never come back.

This restaurant is located in the busy Westlake Mall. The sashimi is fresh and the service is fast. Id like to see the restaurant offers more options such as brown rice. The salad was ok and the menu selection was pretty diverse.

I want to like this restaurant because it is in the shopping mall with plenty of parking, good location. Unfortunately, the sushi and/or rolls are very disappointing. Why? The rice is way too soft and doesnt taste properly. This is so essential and the rest doesnt matter.

The restaurant is ok for main Japanese dishes, but dont expect anything too authentic, or even that flavorful. The sticky rice wasnt that sticky, the meat dish wasnt that meaty. But the salmon sashimi was good, and the tempura wasnt bad. Theres lots of seating and the staff was friendly. Itll get you by when you need a Japanese meal fix, but theres not anything special to come for.

Took my mom there for lunch. Food was good. The service was lacking. I asked multiple times for some utensils. These rivers dropped off a fork and spoon and didnt really bother with us until it was time to pay and get containers to go. I had tried numerous times to get their attention for additional utensils to no avail. Plus, they didnt even bother to offer us tea like all the other patrons. The food was good but, the service needs some good improvements.

Service can be better. It took time for us to have our drinks, condiments, etc., even though it is not busy. Waitresses rarely speak too. My food (just grilled squid-an appetizer) came very late that when it arrived, my fiance is done with his bento meal. We followed up our grilled squid and the waitress gave us an attitude. On a positive note, the food was good.

Discovered this place when I first moved to Daly City and was pleasantly surprised. I was always told to avoid a sushi restaurant that is not busy or seems stagnant. So I was not afraid to try this restaurant because of the high traffic in the area. No matter what time of the day, Spiral always seems busy, but rarely have I had to wait more than 15 minutes to get seated. The service is so quick and the food is delicious. On an average day. the time to walk in the door, be seated, order, and receive my food has taken less than 15 minutes. But this may also be because I am a creature of habit and know exactly what I want before sitting down. Still the food always tastes consistent and freshly prepared!Although I rarely make it to happy hour because of my work schedule, the happy hour special is awesome! You can get up to 20% off your entire bill, if youre there before 5. Not only that, but every time you go in there, they give you a coupon for a buy one get one free on select rolls, which are really reasonably priced to begin with. This is one of my new favorite sushi places because it is delicious, clean, quick, and centrally located.

Ive eaten here twice and enjoyed both of my meals though I preferred the bento box to the udon as it was much more flavorful. I got the Saba and tempura for my bento box and really enjoyed both along with the complimentary miso. On the other hand, the vegetable udon was pretty flavorless and veggies seemed firmer than I would like. Ive also tried a few of their rolls and they were all fresh though not particularly special. Overall its a pretty solid place to eat.

Some serious issues with the attitude of the staff. Called the restaurant initially to ask if they offered AYCE, which they confirmed. After coming the next day and getting seated, AYCE option was asked for only for the waitress (who I assume was the owner) to say they didnt offer it. When told there was an explicit confirmation over the phone, she rudely snaps you must have called the wrong number (as a sanity check, when I looked through the call logs on phone, the number called was 100% the number of the restaurant). The sushi here was slightly above average, but to whoever reads this, there are probably better places to spend your money at.

Addendum Jan 2020:I have subtracted a star because they had 2 tables for 6 and 2 tables for 2 available, but the hostess refused to seat my family of four. By the time we finally got seated, those tables for 6 stayed empty for the rest of the time we were here. I found the whole scenerio offensive. Considering we come here pretty often and drop a big check every time. Its not like they dont recognize us.Original post:I have been coming here since it opened. Food is pretty good. But service is just terrible. The servers look right at you and walk on by. We always have to ask for some item that weve already ordered but they forget to get for us. Fork. Rice. Something is always missing. Our food is finished and sitting on the counter but the servers pretend not to see it. You cant even flag them down. A frustrating dining experience.

Use to come here a lot because it is close to where I live. The food is good but if you ask for anything extra they always forget (fork, extra dressing, etc). The reason I stopped coming was the TERRIBLE service. I never got checked on after the food was delivered. Finally couldnt take it anymore. Now I go to Tomo near the theatre. Good experience! Food was great.My recent was a bento tray of 3 items for dinner.Good: All 3 options I selected. BBQ beef short ribs were very tender. Wow! Salmon sashimi was fresh and had some white radish to eat it with! The chicken karaage was cooked well and very large portioned!Decent: Soup. Salad was tasty, but sauce was a bit watery. Still good flavor, surprisingly.A little improvement: Rice portion was tiny! And tea sometimes didnt get refilled quickly enough. (This last one is sort of an Asian thing to complain about.)I think it also helps to be in a smaller group. We had 5. The teriyaki steak sauce was phenomenal but the steak itself was unevenly cooked, although it looked well cooked, there were a few small spots that were red(this means these parts werent well enough)The soba (I believe this was the name) was amazing. The skin was a very very good addition to the soba. Came back with a party of 9 and LOUSY SERVICE, HigherPrices $2-5 increases. We want to eat and we dont want buy the restaurant. Hostess and waiteress didnt smile and didnt want to be there. First customers and we were not treated like customers or guests. A party of 6 or more get a free sushi cake and they want to check Id for exact date. Your menu doesnt state exact date. NEVER COME HERE... TOO INCONSISTENT. Standards are reasonable price, reasonable quantity of good tasting food, reasonable location and parking, and good service on smaller parties (4 or less). Reasonable service for smaller parties. Minus 2 stars...9+ party lousy service, not welcomed, hostess acted like doing us a favor. Made reservation for banquet room....lost or no reservation. Manager did not know his job. Waiteress knew her job and helpful. 2nd time, smaller party. Good service, helpful, welcoming! 4 stars for small parties less than 4< patrons,3 stars for 4+ (9) parties. The katsu don was the most squishy Ive ever had, and was cooked TOGETHER with the egg. Was pretty upset because that is not traditional katsu that you would get from most places. and when I complained they did not offer to do anything and simply said sorry its the way we always made it. I wouldve been happy if they just took a drink or two off the check after terrible customer service (waiting for 10 minutes without getting menus, despite being the only customers on there). I wouldnt waste the money on this place.

Went there for a windy day. Outdoor seating was too windy to sit & eat, so asked to be seated inside. I ordered Salmon Teriyaki bento box, but when we got our food Salmon sashimi showed up so had to send it back. She didnt check us on later, I had to flag someone else to get forks for my dish. Food was ok to me, but my friends Chicken teriyaki had brown meat with too much fat (skins) and he wasnt liking it at all. I was bit embarrassed because I bragged about it to him and took him there.
