The owners are very nice and generous. They got us some food that are on the house. They speak a little English but the services are great. The foods taste great and the sashimi platers are fresh. I was there for team lunch and would love to go there again.
The service is one of a kind, the quality par to non. If you want a special memory that lasts I recommend the booth and ask for some privacy :). Great food and get ur fill of Seoul food.
I have never written any reviews, but I must say this restaurant is just amazing! Their food and service are way beyond my expectation. I will definitely visit again soon.
We as family and friends had chance to go dine here, little while ago for one of our friends birthday dinner .food and service was great and what I was really impressed about this place is not only quality and quantity of sashimi and other side dishes were very impressive to me, I really enjoyed the all of quality of great food . Its been a quite awhile I had high quality of sashimi in Los Angeles restaurant. I highly recommend this place because not only the food but relationship of owners maintaining with there long time friends and customers. They are very humble and humanlike. Enjoy!

I came here last night at about 8:30 p.m. we ordered the mixed sashimi combination. The combination comes with many different little side dishes of seafood. The sashimi was fresh and very tasty. The side dishes were really good and extremely interesting.If you dont speak Korean it will be hard to communicate, however the staff there was extremely friendly and they were showing us exactly what sauces were for what cut of fish. They even did a hand demonstration for us which was so awesome. The food came out fast, the service was excellent and the parking was extremely easy.We had everything from halibut, Toro, salmon, yellow tail and monkfish liver.I will definitely be coming back to this place.
Food were good but service wasn’t at all. I was there with people, a lady wasn’t really friendly but pushing us to order, when we asked if we can have chilled sake in a cattle, she said she can’t because we are drinking cheap sake and there are no other option but hot sake lol
The NEW Shogun restaurant (opened under new ownership as of Oct. 2019) is super delish!!! It is a small restaurant, but it is nice and organized neatly on top of being very clean. The food was amazing; I ordered the soba/sushi set and the sushi was great. The highlight of my meal was definitely the soba though! The noodles were fresh and light matched with a sweet, yet savory dipping sauce. You can add wasabi, thinly sliced green onions and the radish according to season the sauce however spicy you want it. I am not lying when I say it is the best soba I have ever eaten 🤤!!!Overall experience:Parking - Valet....believe its $2?Price - It is a new ownership, but it isnt as expensive as the old Shogun.Food - 5 out of 5Space - it is a tiny spot. There are two small private rooms (max. 4 i think) and the rest are pretty much the same. I cant remember if there is bar seating.Service - was excellent~Recommend - to anyone and everyone in KTOWN LA who wants to eat some yummy sushi! 👍👍👍👍👍
Under New ownership as of Oct 2019. Mr. Sung is awesome. The place now have many affordable price menu and I am in love with the lunch boxes. It is perfect spot for lunch and dinner! Try if you are in Koreatown.
They totally overcharged me on purpose. I ordered 1 yellowtail sushi & a rainbow roll, with a large sake. It should have been no more than $30 & they charged me $50. Its not worth it.
I loved the sashimi and fish was fresh.They charge me Korean wine (Bok bun Ja) for $25.
This sushi bar is a hidden gem in Korearown. Their menu is slightly pricy, but the portions are tasty, artsy, and generous. There is limited parking in front. The vibe is casual, comfortable, and homey. Private areas are available. Their wasabe is delightfully stronger than most places.

I wanted to eat sashimi rice bowl, so I submitted it, but its so fresh and delicious! The quantity was really large, and they also gave me a salmon head, so I ate to my hearts content. There are so many sashimi in the sashimi rice bowl, so I think I will go again next time.

The side dish appetizers before the main entrees were so amazing every single one of them tasted so delicious (a whole large plate of kimchi tempura pancake, a pickled salad, freshly shocked oysters and the regular side plates), the sushi was high quality, and the Maeuntang and Nurungjibap were both very tasty and so satisfying.The lady I think the wife of the owner serving us was so kind and nice - she made the whole experience more enjoyable. She was always on hand to refill our side dishes, and she gave us extra rice to leave with.I was so moved to see that he cooked food with sincerity and sincerity as if he were cooking for his family. I thought that it would be a family and business that would please God because my heart was honest and I was considerate of others. Blessings!

Upon a single glance, the prices are quite reasonable for a sushi restaurant and the menu has a new nicely balanced mix of fresh contemporary and classic dishes. The appetizers are absolutely amazing. You get an entire experience from the start. This is a spot for any crowd or crew that appreciates high quality sushi. Regardless your age, gender or ethnic group, if you enjoy sushi, this place is definitely worth your time and money. The service is also top notch. The staff will take your order quite promptly and will bring out your starting side dishes nearly as soon. They will also clear all empty and unused bowls and trash out of the way in an as undisruptive manner as possible upon request or upon their discretion. The fish quality is just out of this world. They are all incredibly fresh and have that melt-in-your-mouth quality that avid sushi consumers crave and seek. The soba is definitely worth a try for those who love cold noodles. The noodles are cooked to perfection and presentation is also nice. The dipping sauce/soup for the noodles is very delicious and refreshing as well. Also the flavor is different (and in my opinion, better) than the generic store-bought type of dipping sauce/soup that you find every other sushi restaurant using for their soba. For those of you who read up to this point, you read this long for a reason and i hope this review gave you a reason to visit New Sho Gun Sushi. You wont regret it. 2021-06-26 22:02:21Im not a big expert on sushi and all their dishes but I will still give my opinion. Not the best tasting sushi I have ever had but it was still decent. My favorite sushi out of all of them was the bass and the shrimp, the others not so much. I do believe this place is pricey. I got the combo for 2 with 5 selections and I was charged $73 the most I have ever spent for sushi. With that being said I dont think I will visit this place again. The miso soup was really good though. I arrive at 7:30 pm on a friday not super busy but there several parties tabled. It looked like there was only one server for the whole store but she was attentive and nice.

You will not be disappointed and if you are you need to go back and order these things instead of whatever you got.Meal includes plethora of additional items that will be incredible. Crispy eel pancake with sweet spicy red pepper sauce was served to us and a light tea and edamame all complimentary. With the items we got below, we got white rice, a salad with a bright acidic spicy dressing. Tons of different pickles and sides I’d usually get with an all you can eat deal at a j/kbbq place. Get the below items and you will not be disappointed.- braised spicy chicken- sushi, we got the 10pc, came with salmon, sea bass, halibut, more…- eel over rice (we didn’t get an eel roll. But next time I am planning on it)- shrimp roll- I think I am forgetting some but this was enough food for 7 peopleThe chicken is literally amazing. If you don’t like dark meat don’t get it But it was the best meal I have had in a long time and the owners are absolutely amazing.

The prices were extremely reasonable and the portions for sashimi and tempura were incredible. Some of the lightest tempura Ive had in L.A.. I recommend eating here. I was also very happy with the quality and selection of fish. It was so fresh.
