Sushi Tozai in Sebastopol

Not sure why this has a 4.5. The sushi was pretty bad. The spicy tuna tastes like they used a taco spice pack from Safeway. It was all spice and no taste of the tuna.The other rolls were mediocre at best, though the fish on the Rainbow Roll was not fresh looking.Wont be back.

The wasabi wasn’t real. This is the first time I’ve had an individual piece of sushi made out of fake crab meat. The fish was tender enough, but it had a distinct fishy smell to it. To be honest, I’ve had better sushi from a grocery store.

Love Tozai! Been a long time since I last went, and its only gotten better. The wait time was short, sushi and appetizers were delicious as usual, and it was perfect for a birthday dinner. We ordered family style, with 7 or 8 rolls, and got the most delectable looking (and tasting) platter of sushi, as pictured. Pricing is pretty reasonable for the food/for Sebastopol, too! Would recommend :)

Always excellent! Im never disappointed with the service or food. Super nice folks working here. Upstairs is more family oriented and subsequently louder. The sushi bar and downstairs seating is quieter and more traditional. We opt for downstairs and the regular tables. Sitting at the bar is a bit faster for food, but we like the tables just fine.

We love ordering take out sushi from Sushi Tozai. Great service, great, fresh sushi and other dishes. We have been coming here for a LONG time and recommend!

The inside is really cute and I want to like this place but the service is really bad. The last waitress sounded incredibly annoyed by a simple question and was too busy texting to help any of her tables.

Its always a very pleasant experience at this restaurant. The food is very freshThe staff including to Sushi chefs are exceptional! You must experience this to fully comprehend the experience!

The staff were really kind and professional. The sushi was amazing! We were celebrating a birthday, and our sushi came out on a wooden ship! So delicious!

Best sushi spot in Sebastopol. Been coming here since they opened years ago. Staff has consistently been kind and attentive. Sushi is delicious. Nice peaceful atmosphere.

Good sashimi, sushi rolls, and Udon noodles, and great staff. The main problem for us is the noise. With reflecting surfaces everywhere, the dining area becomes a cauldron of noise when many tables are occupied, especially with a party group. We wish the management would seat large groups in the unused upstairs room, and add some soft noise-absorbing partitions in the main dining area.
