This place is excellent. A hidden gem of Burbank. Very authentically Japanese. The food is so fresh and flavorful. The owners are warm and inviting and good at their jobs. The omakase is 100% worth the price.

Food is good. Its a very nice place.The waitress was great and polite. I taught my friend how they use both hands to serve and hand items and we should do it too.I believe this is a new management.I would definitely like to go there back again.

Had a great meal with a friend at Tatsu. Service was quick and very friendly. There were tables taken but not crowded, it was a Weds night.Cucumber salad had a really yummy dressing and the miso tasted really good! Was happy to see they have a gluten-free soy sauce (not sure if it was tamari) if you ask. I had the avocado roll and vegetable roll and they were both really good. I liked the wasabi, it was different than the usual tube stuff!My friend had a few sushi rolls and yellowtail collar and he was all about them!Can’t wait to go back.

One of the best sushi places Ive been to. Sushi tastes fresh and they have an excellent presentation with their dishes. I think the ex girlfriend roll was my favorite. I went the hour it opened and the place had a better ambience than expected compared how it looks like on the outside. Looks very highend but they have reasonable prices about 20-30$ per person or if youre sharing rolls. Service was average, everyone seemed nice and friendly. Parking lot is small so you might have trouble finding parking.

1 server for 14 tables on a Friday night!Order wrong. I wanted to order sake but they never came back to the table. Just put the check on the table. Never asked if I wanted anything else. Losing money by not asking if I wanted any more. My mistake for trying something new.

I hope I can spare someone the bad experiences Ive had with Tatsu Sushi. Three to-go orders in a row not even close to what I ordered. The food was particularly bad. And on my way out of their side parking lot I noticed the owner throwing boxes of trash out into the alley.

Delicious place! We went for a friends birthday and had a big party. The sushi was delicious, the server accommodating. Somethings took a while but it was definitely worth it. The only thing i didnt much care for was the yellowish lemony drizzle that was over the mochi and other dessert they brought out for my friends birthday. The sake was delicious! And the staff were quick and eager to refill water glasses and take empty plates.Beware, tho. The garlic edamame has a kick to it and it doesnt say so in the menu. :)

Great lunch specials! I had the Miso soup, salad, Mexican roll (full size) and a ramen bowl for less than $15. I took home half the roll and most of the ramen bowl to have for dinner. Food was delicious and the waiter was very attentive.

The atmosphere is nice and your classic Japanese restaurant with booths and table and nice music plaing in the background. They brought water right away and menus. The menus were interesting and you can order with a dry marker and writing on the menu. To simplify things we wrote only on one menu and reviewed it with the nice waitress.I ordered Sushi ala cart and my friend ordered some roles. We got edamame, miso soup and cucumber salad to start which were all excellent and up to my Japanese standards. The cucumber salad had a very nice dressing which was maybe miso based. Next the sushi arrived and I took my first bite of the Himachi which was excellent. Fish was perfectly cut and a soft melt in your mouth taste with the perfect temperature rice, tasty rice vinigar and wonderful rice combo to make the perfect mouth watering sushi. All the other sushi 🍣 including the Uni was perfect. Next the rolls arrive which were delicious. The lobster roll tasted excellent (Im not a roll person) and was best when you ate one complete piece in your mouth at a time although rather large and again you can taste the wonder flavor of the excellent rice. The rice here is delicious. Next thing we knew everything was done and we forgot to take pictures...Im saving up for the Omakase and coming back!

Ordered thru Yelp and the order was almost an hour post estimated arrival.It was quite expensive and the quality was just ok. The seaweed salad had a pungent fishy smell and I didn’t eat it. The crispy rice was ice cold and soggy, the lemon roll was ok and the tamago was super sweet.Overall there’s better cheaper places for sushi for the same level of quality or I would order from other expensive places for much better quality. Super bummed especially since it has high ratings on Yelp.

Food was very good. Server seemed very disappointed that I was only ordering two orders of California roll and hot sake (which was over $30 total). She tried to convince me I had enough wasabi when I asked for more. Then I said I would pay for extra, she went and got some. I have never been charged for extra wasabi at a sushi place (maybe lucky me), but I was, for a very small amount. The meal was good but just not a welcoming vibe.

We came on a bustling Saturday and the staff was working their hardest to get everyone serviced in a timely manner. Seemed like they were down a person, maybe even 2. Nevertheless, the head chef took a moment to send out a birthday treat for a customer while dancing along. We had a very nice dinner at Tatsu. The food seemed fresh and it was presented in a very beautiful manner. The sushi maker brought it to our table versus the waitress, which made it feel special. You could tell he was proud of his work. Their mannerisms were authentic and gracious. Also of note is there is parking next to the restaurant. Would recommend.

Their food is great compared to other places don’t get me wrong. HOWEVER, the service drags, there’s only one person at a time waiting tables and one person making the food, with the guests inside and their to-go orders, they need more workers to get things moving quicker. Be prepared to wait over an hour for your food and chase after the waiter for something.

Id been trying to try this spot for the last few months but every time I tried they were closed, at the weirdest times. I was driving by and they were open so I came in and ate. I spoke with the owner who told me they had just taken ownership 2 weeks ago. Great news, now they will keep a good schedule. And the food was amazing!! I sat at the sushi bar and had a great conversation with the sushi chef/owner. He made some great suggestions that landed amazingly and everything was good. I was the only one there at the time so obviously the service was amazing but Im sure it would be great even with a full house because the staff seems genuinely concerned about your experience!! This family owned treasure is conveniently located right on Magnolia, AND THE FOOD IS GREAT!!! The fish is of excellent quality and absolutely fresh. The sushi chef knows his art because everything is perfectly seasoned and exquisitely presented. We had to try the ramen. Tastes like Tokyo. Really. Oh and the beer was so iced cold. And heres the kicker- they are open for lunch. The people are very nice and I want to support them, they just opened and these are tough times for everyone.

Love this new place! We were impressed by the sushi, its really good and the rolls have more fish than rice, compared to a lot of sushi places that tend to overload on rice. We had the Lemon Roll and Ex Girlfriend roll and both were delicious. Great little spot!

Over priced and mediocre service.We ordered 2 sides of sauce and they charged us $1 each. And sure, that’s only $2, but I’ve never been charged at a sushi restaurant for sauce.We ordered a specialty roll for $16ish, and it came with only 6 pieces. And while that’s not a huge deal, most sushi restaurants, including ones in downtown burbank, charge similar prices, and come with 8 pieces. If it was just one roll, it’s not a notable difference, but getting 2-3 rolls makes enough difference that you’re missing out on ~6 pieces, or basically another roll.Service was okay, we got there and there was only one other table, we ordered edamame and it never came. We tried to order their special, where if you buy a roll, you can add 4 pieces of sushi for only $8 (1 tuna, 1 salmon, 1 shrimp, and 1 tilapia). We thought you got the choice of fish, and when we ordered, I point on the menu that we’d like to order than special but then I asked for tuna and salmon. There was no clarification of what I was asking for, and so when the bill came we were charged $15 for what we thought was going to be $8.

Tatsu Sushi fish is exceptional quality! I usually think specialty rolls are a bit over the top and never worth the price, but honestly everything came out amazing + was worth it. Super glad to have a sushi establishment in Burbank that isnt either crazy expensive or situated in an inconvenient location. The chefs & server are energetic and very accommodating! I appreciate the good service and will be coming back regularly :)

Great to have a sushi place within walking distance. The selection was fine, the restaurant is clean and comfortable and the service was pretty good for having only one person serving. The only issue is the price. For sushi, in my opinion, its too expensive. I can venture a little farther from home to Ventura Blvd and find better prices, better sushi and just as nice inside dining.

This place just opened over the weekend. The husband and wife who run it were very sweet. They were backed up on online orders and were very apologetic to me and the other party dining in but I only waited about 10 minutes for my food. I had the nigiri sampler, shrimp tempura roll, and miso soup. Everything was delicious and tasted very fresh. Will definitely be coming back.

Walked in the place sat down. there was no one there. waited for 10 minutes before someone noticed me. overrated, low quality rolls. it was not good. mostly rice. they skimmed on the crab and shrimp in the roll. i was looking for the crab and couldnt find it. my roll came with shrimp skins and extra fishbones that got stuck in my teeth. i was picking out shrimp peels while chewing. so gross. the place has an old people bengay smell. the service is subpar. she didnt speak english and i had to repeat myself several times. i would not eat here ever again. bad service.

They can be crowded, but the service is fast and friendly.Portion size is important when reviewing less expensive places because many of them sell thin slices of fish over large balls of rice. My husband and I came to Bonzai for dinner on a Thursday night, the restaurant was about half full when we were seated. We ordered sushi, udon soup and a roll. The food was all good, but the service was lacking. Everyone was nice, but it took forever to get all of our food and no one came to check-in with us. Decent sushi spot on the western end of Magnolia Park.They revised their menu recently to focus more on sushi and sashimi - that was a good decision. They used to also have a number of uninspired Chinese dishes that they gave the 86 to.Remodeled cozy spot for a date or dinner with friends. Hopefully they remodel the bathrooms soon too, because they are grimy.They offer Japanese beer and sake. Theres a number of specialty rolls on the menu now, along with the typical ones you would expect.There was only one waiter on duty, but hopefully business picks up and they hire another. Very friendly though. Also the music selection was tasteful.

Service was bad and food is average. When I walked in there, there were about six tables one big table about to leave. There was one server for all those table. There was a lady around to help somewhat, she seemed like the owner. The server offered me at booth and he was gonna wipe it down he never came back to wipe it down he started doing a bunch of other stuff for other tables. So I eventually sat myself and grabbed my own menu at a different table. Then he finally comes over and offers me something to drink I asked for water and I had my order ready I asked for a straw for my water he never came with that. I accidentally spilled my miso soup and he came back with a dirty rag to wipe my spill. I again had to ask for a straw he finally came back with it as he was wiping my table but forgot to give it to me so I had to get it from his hand. Then he said I’ll bring out your salad and the salad never came. I ordered a lunch special with a Mexican roll which is just a California roll with spicy “crab” And a black garlic Ramen soup. I can’t say bad things about the food It just didn’t wow me. Finally he realized he never brought my salad and brought it right before I asked for my check it was Romain lettuce a citrus dressing and corn. Super weird to me, I didn’t even touch that. I probably won’t go back because the food wasn’t worth the service maybe it was an off day but there weren’t that many tables to where he couldn’t finish a request from 1 customer without getting involved at other tables. Learn how to be more efficient.

TLDR; Affordable, delicious, wide selection, and also good if you have a person in your group that doesnt like seafood.Bonzai is a place I think about often during the pandemic. Although takeout from there is really good, theres nothing quite like fresh sushi. Most sushi joints either go the affordable route or they serve you an expensive, fresh selection of premium fish. Bonzai meets perfectly in the middle and gives you something affordable and good. Have someone in your friend group that doesnt like seafood? Theyre a heathen with no taste, but no problem. Bonzai has veggie rolls, beef/other protein bowls, and plenty of non-seafood appetizers that are filling.
