Food is okay. I didnt enjoy the salad that came with my dish. The dressing was too plain.
I have traveled all over the world and I order Sushi wherever I go. I have never ordered a vegetarian role and gotten raw broccoli, the whole floweret, and some type of lettuce, shoved into the center of rice and sushi wrap. The other roles I got had zero flavor, as if all ingredients were watered down to nothing. The only thing in the order that had a taste was the ginger. Hopefully their other dishes keep them in the 3.9 level because the Sushi would not.
For me. I love this place. I used to go to Pocket 8s once a week. The crispy spicy chicken is so good. I have this place at least twice a week.

Ive gotten food here multiple times and its never been above average. The California rolls I had tonight were genuinely just gross because of how unripe the avocado was, I had to use a lot of force to poke a hole in it. Something about the sushi here is also just so cold? Its unappetizing and loses a lot of flavor because of it.
I tried it for the first time and ordered the chicken and the steak with rice and salad. The sauces were very good. The meat had zero seasoning not even salt and pepper which was very disappointing. The rice and salad was decent. Overall I would say try it if you are out drinking but if you are in it for the taste its a big no based off of the simple fact they cant even season meat properly.
2nd time here. 1st time was okay. 2nd time, I ordered Calamari. It was terrible. I also ordered the eel and avocado sushi roll the same as the 1st time. Only this time, it was prepared completely different and tasted as if it had been sitting around for a few hours. Dont think Ill be returning to this establishment.

This place has really good food and is delicious.Staff is friendly and the one time I got the wrong order, the staff apologized and graciously replaced my meal for the correct one..I appreciate that they made things right...Chicken and shrimp is my favorite combo here
Good customer service, quick, and big portions. Not the most exquisite don I’ve had, but I wouldn’t expect that at this price point. It was still very satisfying, wasn’t over cooked, and had good flavor. Very satisfied with the value.
Wonderful food and I saw many people enjoying it. There are individuals sitting at the tables and individuals picking up their food, food pick up delivery individuals I believe from different apps. Have different combinations. The food was delicious and interesting that theres soy sauce wasnt too salty - What you wanted everything was a fair price. You get several different things to drink but I was there for the food.

Was incredibly impressed with the menu and waited all day to have dinner as we excitedly considered all of meal options. Imagine our disappointment when we arrived and were notified that the dining room closes at 7pm. What dinner location closes at 7pm on a Saturday night?
This is probably my favorite place to eat in Merced outside of the in-n-out. The food here is really great and its one of the few places in the area offering unagi don for a very reasonable price. The drink selection is also awesome, as they have Mello Yello Peach and Seagrams ginger ale.They also have Groupon, which saves you a pretty penny every so often.

Extremely rude staff always have been! Food is Great I love it! But they are rude ladies. And also I do not think its right or even there place to tell me how to do my job with GrubHub. It is MY job to make my order as picked up and on my way, it is NOT your job to tell me what to do...YOUR job is to make the food and have it ready...wouldve been a 5 star if staff changed and were more personable. We dont frequent this restaurant very often, but when we do the food and service is fantastic. 1/9/22 no dine allowed just take out. Make sure you take your cell phone to place an order. The menu is on the chair by the front door. I had the spicy orange chick with fried rice and chicken chow mien.
It was hot in there. Overall it was OK. The teraki bowls have the meat and veg cooked separately . The vegs were cold and should have been cooked with the Teri sauce. There was no ice by soda machine. There was room for improvement of my teraki bowl. By the way this was my first time there.
The staff is super friendly. They greet everyone who walks through the door. One young girl, who I asked for recommendations, was very friendly and very helpful. The place is very clean and there are many booths to sit at. The place is not noisy at all. I ordered the fried tofu combination which tasted very good. It had white rice, the fried tofu, a small salad, and 2 egg rolls. So much food I couldnt finish!
We had a very !!!!!!! unpleasant experience as we were accused by the manager of stealing soda....extremely embarrassing to be honest with you! Since she walked to my table to confront me about my husband stealing her $2 dollar soda.I purchased $50 worth of food that included 2 refillable sodas, I do not drink soda myself, one was for my husband one was for my nine year old. I decided to pour OUNCES, of soda in a water cup FROM MY HUSBANDS CUP ( NOT FROM THE MACHINE) so my Toddler twins could have a sip a sip!!!! since they were crying about us not letting them drink soda late........yes I poured literally ounces of my soda for a 4 year old twins..... like how much soda can a toddler drink??? 3 sips????The manager walks to my table to tell me I need to pay another soda because she saw my husband filling out the water cups with soda....from the machine!!! That she had cameras.....and she saw him!NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at your cameras and confirm that your water cups were filled in my own table.If I have two large soda cups that I can refill 3..4 ..5 times how Im I stealing your soda ?? for pouring ounces of OUR soda.????????My husband did pay for a 3rd soda because he is a nice person and we dont like to argue, but it was absolutely ridiculous.This is not even about money !!! is only $2 !!!! dollars....this is the fact that you accused us of something that is not true, embarrass us in-front of people and my daughter we are honest people and we can pay for as many sodas as we wish.please look at your cameras before you approach people to accused them.....Never in my life coming back.......Horrible service!!!
Great prices and portions. Very friendly, attentive staff 😃🤘 I got the daily special & my mom got the salmon burger which she enjoyed. My ginger teriyaki chicken was delicious and all other components tasted good. I would go back again for either dine in or take out soon
Very Clean, fantastic Teriyaki chicken with rice. If you think the sauce is too sweet, just throw on some soy sauce and its perfect. Everything was cooked to perfection. It was hot and lovely when it got to the table. The young lady at the register made some really good recommendations based on it being our first time there. It definitely will not be the last time! Awesome!
Sitting here right now and only one order came out. There are at least 5 people cooking and everything else is getting out. Chefs cant get anything right. Take out orders are being taken of. People after us are getting partial orders. I am not coming here again unless you can get your chefs in check. I do not recommend. Worst experience I ever had. We barely got the last meal. We didnt eat at the same time and not even close

When we walked in, we were greeted and thought this place was good. The prices were okay with 5.50 for a tuna roll. When the tuna roll arrived, it was as small as an eyeball. The roll was bland. When the salmon roll came the roll was big. Everytime we picked it up, it just broke apart and was bland. We had to get our own water and the worst part was that the water didnt even taste like water. Did not like the dressing and it tasted like mayo. The fried calamari was crunchy but the calamari was soft with the texture of tofu. The best part was the steak, it was juicy and actually had flavour. Overall probably will not come back.
I got the ginger chicken with salad and the spicy tuna sushi. I got the all white meat and personally I think the chicken was a little dry. It taste good but not good enough to return for me unless for the sushi of which I felt was very reasonably priced and tasted very well.
The prdering space is difficult and small, especially if you walk in not already knowing what you want or are a first time customer. The food was plated nicely but the meat was soft and fake feeling. Our orders came quickly and staff was nice. I doubt well go back.

This is my first time going to this place since the reviews were mostly positive. However, when I ordered Salmon roll and platter 17 chicken, steak & shrimp. THE CHICKEN WAS PARTLY RAW AND THE SALMON ROLL WAS COOKED! They have not specified or nowhere in the menu that states that the salmon was going to be cooked! The chicken was partly raw and it was disgusting. The staff seemed like they don’t know the food itself. The food was dry and bland. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! Yes it’s cheap for the price but I wouldn’t spend a dime for the quality of food here. Go to a real Japanese sushi place other than this. This is NOT A JAPANESE FOOD.
Always messes up our orders. Then well charge you extra to correct mistake . Meat quality is very bad. Charges extra more more teriyaki sauce. Very rude service. This will be our last visit here....
The food is ok some of the time. The customer service is not very good. They seem to always overcook the chicken. They messed up the order majority of the handful of times I have gone.Also..for the comment left by them about me getting what I ordered...I did talk to the managment and they were not friendly nor did they care to help fix anything.
We love Teriyaki Don! It is so convenient for lunch! I always give new businesses credit for working out kinks while still serving the public. I have been a new employee before so if you go in and critique every mistake when they havent been open a week is not very fair. After 3-4 months be as hard as you want. I have eaten here a handful of times and love everything I have had thus far. My favorite is the spicy chicken salad! Yummy!!! And the prices are so affordable for a quick lunch!
So we went for lunch and the flavor wasnt bad and the prices were decent. However, the lady taking our order didnt even bother telling us about the daily specials she just asked if we wanted free miso soup. We didnt even see the specials until after we paid because the sign was on the long end past the counter, past the register. What equally upset me was we did order something that was on the special menu, but since we were looking up at the menu and not directly at the hidden specials sign, she charged us full price. When we finally walked past the specials sign and noticed what we ordered was on special, she looked right at us. She didnt offer to substitute something for us overpaying or offer to give us the difference. We just nodded our heads and sat down.As you can see from my pictures the salmon roll was odd. They put cooked salmon inside a salmon sushi roll...lol. it was strange enough that my 3 kids winced at it. They are used to seeing it uncooked. The flavor wasnt bad, but it wasnt great. I will not order it again thats for sure.The ginger beef dish was really good and we loved the to go containers they serve their food in. Its super convenient!!!This place is decent for cheap college students who cant afford actual good sushi or higher end Japanese restaurants. Its like....a Japanese fast food place, all about the amount of people coming in and not about the quality. But for a quick bite, fairly inexpensive, and not expecting high standards, this place is will do.
I have gone to this place numerous times and I love the food and price, I will no longer be going back as they feel that they are allowed to question people about if you’ve been vaccinated or not before they allow you to order your food. I understand the laws but I also understand my constitutional rights and I do not have to disclose that to anyone. That is a over reach of a business and entirely against the law. I will be filing a complaint with the city as well. They tried to tell me that’s in accordance to CDC and that’s not accurate. We live in a free nation.
Not very good food . The burger was run of the mill frozen patty from a grocery store. The chicken teriyaki was under cooked and no teriyaki sauce at all just sesame seeds. The shrimp has no flavor. I wouldnt recommend this place.
King Asian Cuisine was my go to for Sushi. Until now! OMG this place is amazing. I am a Sushi Attic and the Sushi here is beyond amazing. Generous portions. When asked for extra Wasabi and Ginger they came through. Prices are far better than the above mentioned. I am now a dedicated Teriyaki Dons Customer! Glad that I found this restaurant.
Disgusting. Shrimp isn’t deveined. Tempura is soggy and soft like bread not crunchy. The crispy chicken looked and tasted like the spilled the whole container of spice powder or whatever they put on it (I’ve never had it like that I was totally confused) rice not fresh all stuck together. Everything was terrible except my soda. Sorry but it is just not good .
We ended up going to T.D. when our initial destination was full. I was pleasantly surprised with the price and the quality of the food. I would highly recommend to everyone. The service was top notch. Two thumbs up.

Absolutely my favorite place to eat the spicy crispy chicken is so good it like angles baddered it. They have two types of steak the NY steak is my favorite thing to eat but there regular steak is pretty good 100% best quality for the price here in Merced I do doordash as well and they always have the food ready fast. Tell everyone you know about this place cause its the best in town!!!!

The new York steak is amazing when they cook it to the correct temperature. Sushi is alright. The service is amazing. They always greet you and I feel welcomed every time I come in.

Dont waste your time or money. This is the worst version of Japanese fast food. The whole family ordered something different. The tempura shrimp was soggy. The teriyaki chicken and steak dry as hell. And when the woman taking orders told the boy at the grill to cook the steaks medium rare he made a face a rolled his eyes. Yes, you can see the entire kitchen staff from anywhere in the restaurant. My guess is that people who dont know the difference wont mind the sub par food. We were excited that something new had opened up in Merced. Huge disappointment😞
Cant get enough. If youre on a budget and want great tasting food, this is your place. Fast, affordable, large portion size, and alot healthier than typical fast food. Wish they served kimchi though!

Good prices, good service, but the food was not very good. Ordered the chicken and steak teriyaki. Chicken teriyaki was ok. The steak teriyaki was really tough and had a jerky texture to it. I had to drown the meats in teriyaki sauce to mask the blandness. The food tasted like the frozen teriyaki bowls you’d find at a grocery store. Tbh, those bowls probably taste better. The side salad/veggies that accompanies also has a frozen food flavor to it. Miso soup also tasted very salty and processed. Overall, gave it two stars for the favorable things listed but will not be returning again.

Bad customer service... they wont pick up the phone 35 minutes before closing.. Im pretty sure they can take in orders but they must be too lazy to since it is before closing.. Your hours should be listed at closed at 6:15 instead of 7pm on Sundays if youre not going to take orders...

Really they give you a tiny To go container of sauce that dont even cover a 1/8 of the chicken and rice and expect you to pay extra for another sauce the same size of what they brought for the REALLY DRY CHICKEN AND RICE. I did I was told it was going to cost extra !!!!

Teriyaki Don will violate your medical privacy and HIPA law by asking for vaccination history and to show proof of you COVID vaccine and if you are volunteering your medical history they still require you to wear a mask to order food. Even though they are open for dine in and do not require you to have a mask while your eating.

Near University of Merced in a shopping mall. lots of soups, udon teriyaki chicken fish etc. sandwiches, soups, etc. french fries, salads, etc a good place to fill up on. prompt service, order at the counter before u find a seat.
Too keep the customer coming back please get it together quickly...Customers blocking entrance to the door...Dirty tables...Food extremely dry and food thats normally warm is cold...Get a experienced restuarant manager to come run the place or at best steer you in the right direction

2023-11-07 02:17:45Excellent food!! Its a lot of food too so youll definitely leave here full and feeling like you got your moneys worth. The staff was very kind on the night we came here. We were eating there late with my family for my sisters birthday. They allowed my husband to come inside and join us after they were closed and allowed us to continue eating after they were closed. We came back and ate there again and the food and service were outstanding.

They prep everything to go style, sit and enjoy it. About $40 for two. One combo can feed 2 kids. Clean restroom. We got combo #1 chicken and #18 spicy chicken, steak and shrimp.

2022-03-18 20:09:45I’m disgusted by how my food was prepped. The salads should be packaged separately from the “WARM” food, it made the salad warm which tastes gross. I asked for extra ginger and this is all I got. The spicy tuna roll had a stench like it was over due or has been sitting out for a while. The rice was too soggy and mushy. Food is over priced for this kind of quality. I am NEVER ordering from this place again! I’m disgustingly unsatisfied with this service.

2023-07-19 09:48:53Never come here for sushi. I got their spicy california roll once and it literally tasted like sand. Whatever was on top was crunchy and grainy. Not to mention the avocado aas expired and the wasabi was dark brown. It was not an enjoyable roll and their miso soup is also very flavorless and bland. Honestly I’m surprised they stayed open this long. Do NOT recommend..update. They appear to have a new chef and now the food is pretty scrumptious. Come back and try it again!!

Asked the waitress for an extra to-go sauce and she said you have one, as she continued to stack them to the ceiling! Donburi was decent but agree with separating the salad from hot food. The place feels mismanaged from an ownership level.

A kid offered to sell us a candy bar so he could go to Disneyland-- props to him for getting out there to raise the funds. They required a tip but they didnt serve or bus our table. Salad dressing wasnt good. Staff were kinda apathetic. But the teriyaki sandwich was very good and I liked the chicken and steak don. Good overall.
