This was really delicious. I went around 5pm and they werent too busy. The service was great. There were some interesting menu items. I ordered Chicken Mango Curry (which included a generous portion of jasmine rice), Garlic Shrimp, and chicken Pad Thai. I was particularly impressed with the fresh garlic sauce on the shrimp. Really amazing flavor. I thought the prices were reasonable for Thai food and Id definitely go back again!

We discovered this little gem on accident a few years ago and been coming here ever since. The food is phenomenal. Authentic DELICIOUS Thai food. The service could use some help as its new kids every time we come, but the food more than makes up for it. If you enjoy Thai food or want to give it a try, do not sleep on this place!

This is one of the best Thai places I have been too. Located right next to Apple Hill we happened to spot it when trying to take a shortcut. Weston our server was so attentive. He knew everything about the menu. The food is priced very right and when the food came it looked and tasted amazing. The restrooms were very clean and overall the parking and ambiance is second to none. Highly recommend this place to anyone!

We love this place! Everything was great- service, atmosphere, the food, and the price is very reasonable for the quality. And there are many vegan (/turned into vegan) options ♡We had the fresh spring rolls, thai tea (with coconut milk), excellent tom kha soup, and very good evil jungle noodles. Second time i came i had an excellent pad eggplant and an excellent pumpkin curry.Everytging very tasty, and the tom kha is ine of the best we ateMake sure to ask to have it all without fish sauce.There are some specials in a sign at the entrance that is easy to miss so pay attention...

I found this place last Monday. I was very impressed with everything. I ordered yellow shrimp curry with egg plant and rice. I also got a side of egg rolls. I got alot of food. Fantastic flavor and real fresh. Im coming back next time Im in Placerville.

The Green Curry (with chicken) was perfect and not very spicy (the menu indicates otherwise). Pair the Green Curry with Brown Rice and you have a delicious post ski meal thats worth the drive from South Lake Tahoe. Word to the wise, this place is popular so you might want to consider a reservation or plan on ordering some take out (in advance).

A friend and myself had just eaten here yesterday.. it was my very first time trying Thai food and can i say wow am impressed. We entered & the staff is so very sweet & polite and the calmness of the place made me feel like we were at home. The food here is outstanding! I loved dining here. It looks so pretty inside and the waiters were very sweet. The food was outstanding, flavorful and fresh. We had the fried banana with coconut ice cream for dessert and it finished off the meal perfectly. I cant wait to try some more of their food !

Elie, our server, was fantastic. She was welcoming and had the best attitude. Got our food out in timely fashion and any alterations to our food was done with ease and a good attitude. Update: (28 Dec 2022) My family and I went to Thai Unique for dinner and they were down a cook so food was super delayed. Bottom line: the food is well worth the wait.(Written 4 years ago) I travel around a lot for work and Ive been fortunate enough to visit Thailand. Thai Unique is spot on Thai food. Anytime Im in town or near town I will make the trip to eat at Thai Unique. The only downside Ive heard people complain about is the service being slow. I rather enjoy taking my time when I eat great food. Im also used to different cultures having different standards for customer service so a bit slow for food service is no big deal to me for great food.

Hands down best Thai food Ive ever had. Im somewhat of a green curry connoisseur and theirs with seafood is perfection. They give generous portions so plan to be enjoying it for a few meals, score! They use authentic, real ingredients. You can really taste the love and consideration the chefs put into each dish.Highly recommend starting with the fresh rolls appetizer and the golden seafood special as your main. Finish it off with some deep fried bananas and coconut ice-cream and youll be in food coma heaven.Because so many people love this restaurant, if you go at rush hour, you may wait about 45 minutes for your food. I promise you, its worth the wait. Easily remedied by ordering an appetizer!All the servers are accommodating and attentive, Especially Ann, Apple and Weston.

Ive seen many a restaurant come and go right here and knowing how country this town is for a Thai restaurant to be lasting as long as this place has I would say anyone that does enjoy this style of cuisine should check it out.. I will be as soon as I can afford to spend money on a night out for dining.. And I can only give 4 stars due to never having enjoyed the service or food..

Honestly, I did not have a first good experience but after trying different dishes on multiple visits deduced it was a fluke, or before a change in ownership.The curries have been great. My fiance and I each get an entree and have enough food for two delicious meals. ^.^Added bonus: they have their ingredients delivered to them regularly, if not daily, I know because I work in the same parking lot as this restaurant.

Very comfortable dining experience. The staff members are very nice and accommodating. Had a chance to chat with the owner and his business partner. Food, drink and dessert are delicious. I have dined here before several times but my experience today was enjoyable and different. The food portion is more than adequate for a single person. I had to bring a doggie bags home. Love this place. We just had time for drinks, I had a Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk and Cris had a green tea hot. Total amount was @ $4.55. . The lunch menu is large and often reflects the Dinner Menu with just one dollar difference. I havent been in years but I remember the shrimp was primo. I will be back with pics and descriptions.

Ive dined here many many times and loved the cuisine, especially the pumpkin curry.However, I am giving two stars because the last two times in the past 6 weeks, Ive ordered the pumpkin curry to-go, and both times Ive found huge swaths of the outside onion skin in the curry sauce. It just is sloppy, unappetizing and makes me wonder what other steps were missed. Tonights pumpkin was also undercooked. I dismissed the first incident as a fluke, but after tonight Im wondering if theres a new cook or is the restaurant thinking cutting corners is normal?

Delicious food, friendly staff, Ive been offered water when Ive been waiting for my order which they definitely dont have to do.We always try one new thing but our go tos are the green curry and fresh rolls with shrimp. Great atmosphere, and service. Went @3:30pm on a Monday. The Thai waitress had 5 tables to tend, but was handling orders and requests seamlessly, while still checking up on me every 5-10 minutes. She was very personable and pleasant. I ordered red curry chicken and Tom Kha soup. Soup came in about 5 min and was perfect. About 5-10 minutes later the red curry came, and it was perfect as well. The servings were for two, so I had leftovers and was happy to warm them up a few hours later. Definitely reminds me of the food I had in Thailand...

I can deal with it even though I think that is a bit long regardless of how busy they are. The thing that upset me was they didnt tell me it was going to take 40 min until after I ordered...Therefore, service was a little on the South side tonight.

Our first time there. We took our two exchange students, one from Thailand and other from Norway. Our server was so wonderful and spoke thai with our one student. He said the food reminded him of home, so that is a fantastic compliment to the chef. We will definitely be returning. Food was the best thai food I have had.

This is my 4th or 5th time. Previously its been over all solid. The service is excellent. However this time the food was not good: Pad Thai flavorless, Pad See Ew flavorless, Fried spring rolls terrible, and the barbecue chicken just tasted like a roasted chicken with no barbecue flavor. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here last month, and Narim, the manager, was such a pleasure to work with! My mother and I, the bride, first ate at Thai Unique and fell in love immediately. The food was fantastic, and Narim shared with us some non-spicy options for guests with sensitive stomachs. He reserved for us the event room, and it was the perfect space for our 25 guests (I think it can fit more). Narim double checked our menu selections right up until the day of the rehearsal dinner. The buffet was so beautifully laid out that unfamiliar guests walked in and thought the buffet was part of the restaurant! We had a good laugh when they found out it was a private party.All of our guests, including children under 10, could not stop complimenting the food! We had the drunken noodles, pad thai, pineapple fried rice, thai salad, spring rolls (so good!), yellow curry, a tofu and veggie stir-fry, and they were all delicious! My family and my husbands family look forward to re-visiting this restaurant whenever we are in the Placerville area.

Worst experience ever. The serving was awful. Avoid this place if you can. A big bowl of soup was served without bowls for everybody. We had to ask the extra bowls. They never gave the soup spoons too. They were brought later to the extra bowls. By the time they got the spoons, the soup was already cold. They took literally over an hour to bring the main course food. Kids got too hungry and When we asked to cancel the order, the Asian lady who was serving threatened us that they cant cancel the order. She was so rude that she wont listen and walk away for what we have to say. After all this, they got us the entry meal without the side rice. When we asked about it, she says it will be an extra dollar. She is bossing around with the boys in the counter and she wont let the boys cancel the order. When we inquired about the delay, they were boasting the restaurant was full on the other side when there were only guests in one more table other than us. The other side of the restaurant was actually empty with the boxes on the floor. we being the last customers eating, they switched off the AC when we were still eating. Imagine our plight being with little kids especially when the outside temperature was freezing (Around 38 F). Never tell them you are non-locals and you are visiting Placerville. They can surprise you with rude and very much ugly customer service.

My wife and I eat frequently at Thai restaurants. The lunchtime menus and prices are all pretty much the same and you can usually get a good meal: if you substitute steamed vegetables for rice, a meal that’s low carb and reasonably healthy. As a first course they usually serve a cup of soup made with soup base, a few vegetables and a little tofu. Here, the soup was like that but with far too much soup base or added salt or msg or all three. It was salty, strong flavored and tasted terrible.I ordered green curry with tofu & steamed vegetables, medium spicy. What I got looked fine but not spicy at all. No big complaint, you take your chances on that. The surprise was that they had deep fried the tofu and eggplant. There’s no reason for anything in green curry to be deep fried, something I try hard to avoid. Worse, the fry oil was old and rancid. It was an unhealthy nasty-tasting lunch, although the steamed vegetables were excellent.My wife’s Pad Gai was greasy and bland with little strips of chicken that had been cooked to the consistency of sawdust.Our server was busy and hard working but she was taking care of the whole restaurant by herself and service was a little slow.

The standbys like the pad thai are excellent, but I strongly recommend that you try the specials. The satay was a little tough, but the seasonings were spot on. Had lunch there today. There were only 2 other couples and yet service was very slow. Waitress brought my meal to another person that started eating it - then when she saw the mistake tried to bring it directly to me...I said no - she went in the kitchen 2 minutes later came out with my meal again! I told her I wanted to change my order to get new food. If looks could kill. Second meal took forever to come out and was bland and just warm, not hot. I had to ask for the soup that comes with lunch and it was just warm also....and bland.
