I found this amazing place on my way to Los Angeles. The food was prepared fresh and delicious, with care. Unlike other restaurants that serve premade food, they cook from scratch when you order. Just make sure you call and order at least an hour ahead to give them time to prepare your food.We ordered Pakora and Red Elixir for starters. Vegetarian Thaali and Saag Paneer for the main course. It was so good. They serve good portion sizes.The staff are friendly. A lovely hidden gem in a national forest, with beautiful mountain views. I will make sure to stop here the next time I make the drive to LA.

Stopped here on our way to camping at Reyes Creek Campground midday Saturday. We ordered the bread pakora, pancakes and french toast. Everything was large portions, very delicious and ordered vegan (preference). Wait can be long but definitely worth it. Well be coming back!

It can be difficult to find good food on your journey down the grapevine. The Red Dot will make you happy and grateful that the winding road took you through this part of California! This place is an absolute gem. Well worth the 4 minute detour from the highway! The food was spectacular-you simply can’t go wrong. Healthy, hearty, and bursting with flavor, everything we had was exceptionally delicious. The wait can be long so call and order ahead, they’ll have it ready for you when you arrive. Don’t expect anything fancy from the atmosphere, though the decor is genuine, authentic and warm: a mixture of traditional Indian decor with American seasonal trinkets and lots of interesting house plants nursing their way through the winter season. The staff is so kind and the food is clearly prepared with all the love and care they describe on their website. Worth a stop on your way in or out of LA!

This restaurant is a total gem!! After hiking all day, my friends and I needed FOOD and The Red Dot delivered!! Huge portions of incredibly tasty nums! The menu is varied so that everyone in your party can find something they like. We shared a ginormous order of pakora (battered and fried veggies in a sweet chili sauce) which was incredible. I ordered Tikka Masala Curry with veggie chikn which was out of this world. Everything here is incredible ~ this is a dont miss! I wish there was a The Red Dot by my house....

Great place for fusion asian food. We had the pakodas which were very well prepared and generous in quantity. Also ordered main course which we had to get packed because they have big portions. Loved the service and would recommend the place for food and ambience.

We stay in the hotel near the restaurant and this was one of the best dinners we ever had on a road trip. The beef less bulgogi mild version, the red dot pizza and the custard for dessert were incredible. Highly recommended if you pass near, dont miss it!

There are quite many Indian restaurants around LA and the Bakersfield region but not many can maintain quality with generous portions.Amazing location between mountains with a comfortable setup and light music. An easy detour of a few miles from US 5. Have been a visitor since 2019 every time I am traveling on US 5 between LA(or SD) and SF. Have enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner without any disappointment.Duration:MOST OF THEIR PREPARATIONS ARE FRESH AND FROM SCRATCH. The food tastes amazing. However, the preparation also takes some time. Be prepared to spend at least an hour depending on the dish.Tip:If you are running short of time, give them a call 30-45 min before your arrival and they will have dishes prepared for dine-in or takeaway. (We called them at 6:30 am and breakfast was ready when we reached 7 am).Some of the food recommendations:1. Bread pakora (a must)2. Samosa3. Savory pancake (too good)4. Soya chaap (hidden gem)Last but not least, the friendly and cheerful staff!

This place is a little jewel in the middle of the mountains. The food here is incredible. There are many Indian restaurants that do similar dishes but I have never been to one that does them so well. The flavors are complex and rich. The food is made from scratch and with tremendous dedication so that every pakora is perfectly crisp, every bite is bursting with many notes of different herbs and spices. Its hard to imagine the chef, Harman isnt in a Michelin star restaurant in New York or Los Angeles. The staff at the restaurant all seem to share the same dedication to the food and making everyone feel welcome and appreciated. I love this place.

This place has all the makings of something special, unfortunately the wait time for food is unacceptable. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 children. We ordered an entree each. It took about 30 minutes to get lemonade for the kids and another 30 minutes to get one of their dishes. We had to leave after an hour and a half and just took the rest of our order to go, which was barely getting done. If you just ate and are coming to wait for the next meal time, this is the spot!Update: After getting home to Bakersfield, we finally got to try the food. It was really good! I hope they whittle down their menu to a few solid choices instead of the 100 options and also prioritize in-person guests over phone orders.

We werent too hungry, but saw this inviting restaurant along the road in Frazier Park and decided to get something light. We were immediately captivated by the atmosphere and the staff. The menu was so extensive that we had a hard time deciding. We shared a fresh salad and Mongolian Stir Fry, along with a Mango Lassi, all delicious. It was so good and the people so nice, that we decided to return the following day for breakfast and takeout for lunch. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Me and my family went to have lunch here when we were visiting California. This place has such an Amazon friendly aura, with great staff. I love all the spirituality here and music from different countries and cultures. The food options were endless! So many vegetarian, eggless, vegan, etc. options and so many foods from different Asian countries. The food was all freshly prepared and it tasted amazing. 10/10 experience, this is my new favorite restaurant.

Every visit to this restaurant has been like tasting a new color Ive never seen before. I like everything about this place. Ive eaten meals in Italy, Spain, Greece and Germany and count the Pakora at The Red Dot one of the top five meals Ive had eating out. The apricot preserves are unlike any Ive ever tasted.

Such a wonderful place!! Excellent homely decor. The girl was super hospitable, too. I wanted to so badly sit there and eat but it was a quick stop to get some much needed rice for the toddlers on the way back from San Diego. What a godsend this location was during a time of hunger. Lovely place in Frasier park, great place to stop by on your way to LA (or back). A bit pricey but the food is fully vegetarian, organic, healthy, filling and palatable. The owners/servers are really kind and explain the significance of the restaurant with all the different options and give their recommendations. Theres space for around 40 people (officially, although the place looks like it can seat half of that) and theres a childs playhouse too. You can buy some of their home made ghee and other things for sale. Overall, excellent food and service!

A really amazing spot to stop by on the way to LA! There isnt much outdoor seating but enough for 3 parties in covid! Its really a cute staff and they brought out our food in waves!The standout dish was the bread pakora and it was so unique with the sweet and sour and fried bread texture and onion rings!The ambiance was nice and at the end we also got free bananas. Flavorful food and generous portions. We had the super oatmeal, waffles, German breakfast, and also vegetable pakoras. The oatmeal is really good, sweet and savory, very different from quick oats. The pakoras were similar to veggie tempura but there might have been curry in the batter and it was served with a sweet tomato chutney. Family sized for sharing and very good.

Red Dot was a recommendation by Google and boy was it a good one. My roommates and I traveled to hike near by and had a very productive hike aka nature walk in snow. As such we built a appetite only a amazing meal could help. Im not a adventurous eater and ate pancakes from this amazing menu. And had amazing service from every single person we encountered in the staff. But best believe Ill be more adventurous and explore the menu more when I visit again. Love this place already. I can only imagine how much more Ill love it when I fully try the menu. So if possible order pancakes and there Thai Tea omg 😲it was game changing. Went to this tiny restaurant when our family ended up staying in this small town for the night. We decided to try this vegetarian restaurant when driving around.We ended up getting a table in the corner inside the restaurant which is a little cluttered. One large table was full of bags, boxes, and other items. Not very organized, but figured the restaurant is so small that maybe theres not much storage room.We were greeted by a server who was very polite, and offered us water.I began my order with mango lassi. For an appetizer, I chose the dal with lentils.They were both very delicious. As a main entrée, I settled for the potato paratha with a sweet chutney. The best part of the dish was the chutney, and it was incredibly delicious.Now. The only reason why I give this restaurant a 4/5 is due to the wait time. I have been to several small restaurants in many states that make their food fresh, and the wait times have not been as long as the Red Dot. We ended up waiting over an hour for two dishes.My only recommendation is that if you do decide to come to this restaurant is ORDER AHEAD OF TIME, especially if youre on a schedule or just dont want to wait for your food.Food was great, server was nice, incredibly slow.

If you’re passing by and have some time to spare, there aren’t any better restaurants within fifty miles.They hand make every order from scratch and have only one chef, so it’s definitely a bit of a wait. To make up for it they have a beautiful patio to wait at, you can call in your order, or you can even wait in your car.My wife and I elected to wait in the car, and because we said we were hungry when ordering they brought each individual dish out to us the moment it was ready, instead of waiting for everything to be done. Truly superb food, service, and attitudes. We’re definitely going back!

This was a cozy little place that had the most delicious food. The bread pakodas and the samosas were outstanding, i relished every bite. The dal soup was so tasty too. The thaali would be a good choice for a nice heavy meal that is also not too spicy. The chef personally came out to have a conversation with us seeing us enjoy the food so much. She told us about how they prepare the food, and how much effort goes into each individual dish (that they prepare from scratch for every order). It was a lovely evening overall, I highly recommend this place. PS: Try out their chutneys that they sell in big jars, people come all the way from SF to buy them!

Loved this healthy and delicious find along the grapevine. The gracious owners prepared wonderfully seasoned and inventive Indian dishes, and we appreciated the wealth of GF and vegan options. The Red Dot is hard to explain. I love places like this because you can not describe it, but 100% (maybe 200%) worth the effort to get here. We started with a hand made pizza. Actually we biked to the restaurant from I-5 all the way up a long hill in a single gear bike. We called ahead to check hours and after making sure they were open the cafe suggested that we order our appetizer now and it will be ready when we got there. Thank God for that, it was a long hill and by the time we got there we devoured the pizza. We sat outside in our bike gear and ordered a few more things Tofu Curry, finally Pad Thai. All made to order all excellent!I was reading a few things about the cafe and Frazier Park California. Everything was calm, polite, easy going everywhere we went. At first I thought I was transported back to the 60s into a hippie commune. Then I though a cult had taken over the town. On both cases I was wrong. Just friendly people far enough away from LA, SF and other cities to remind you that Life Is Good.So please take the time and go out of your way to eat and visit a wonderful place with wonderful people and wonderful food.Oh yeah, I kept forgetting to take pictures of the food. When ever the food showed up we dug right in. By the time I remembered to take a picture either there was nothing left...nothing, or the picture would not have photographed well. Yes no pictures = we licked the bowl...Really!We did not get dessert, we usually do not but was tempted. We were surprised to get 2 delicious bananas, truly unexpected and awesome.We stayed till the sun was low on the patio and the fog was sweeping in down over the bills from the Pacific then went over to our bikes in search of beer.

If Einstein taught us anything it was that time was relative. Red dot’s train is moving at a pace different from yours but their trains arrive at the station (your stomach) on time with a caveat. Red dot staff are *very* detailed on time management and will give you the time to show up if you call ahead. Like to the minute LOL. So call four hours ahead - the guy sitting next to us called in his order at 11am and he drove all the way from San Jose to eat at 6:15PM at 🔴, ate his tikka, and drove back. It’s that good. Zucchini bread was good, but tikka, buckwheat pancake and Indian savory pancakes are off da chain ! The absolute best. Im not even a vegetarian but I love this place. Food is warm and comforting, filling and delicious. The pakora was fried to perfection and the portion was MASSIVE. The yellow curry was divine and just what I needed after a day of hiking in Los Padres. Plan on at least an hour and half for dining in. It takes a while because everything truly is hand made and made with love....it takes time. Service was lovely, atmosphere was calming. I live about 300 miles away and yet i have dreams about this place. Its a must visit.

If you are not in a hurry this is a good place to eat. Both times I have eaten here, the food was really good. Also both times the wait for the food to get to our table was over an hour. The atmosphere is pleasant and the people are very nice. It is expensive however the portions are very generous which in my opinion justifies the price. I will definitely eat here again. We were passing through after doing some Condor viewing up near Bitter Creek refuge. We packed plenty of food but we decided to find a joint for some grub to warm us up after our adventure. Highly recommended veggie spot in Frazier Park. If youre passing through the area, its well worth a stop - right off the highway. Food is quality and delicious, service is friendly. The place isnt huge but there is outdoor seating. It may take a bit to get food when its crowded since everything is made fresh when ordered but it is well worth it. Get an appetizer (pakora, samosas) or a drink (Thai iced tea/coffee or Red Elixir juice) while you wait! I truly love all the dishes. Be prepared to wait if you want to eat here!One time I came here, I was literally the only patron in the whole restaurant and it took about an hour for me to get my food. Everything is vegetarian and most everything can be made vegan from what I remember. They have a large menu with all sorts of international delights on it. Needs hours to prepare food! We have tried three times to stop here on our drives between San Francisco and San Diego and its never worked out. Each time we call ahead they tell us it will take hours to prepare a simple pick up order. Today we were told it would be two hours for a cauliflower wrap and we are now giving up permanently. If you want to try, plan ahead and give them at least 2 hours to prepare your food. Its a shame because there is nothing else good around and there is a great little playground nearby to let your kids stretch their legs in after a long car ride.

Just stopped here on a whim while taking a weekend trip to Pine Mountain. Was out visiting family off the 5. And was looking for something light to eat (its 105 out!) Found this gem hidden out here. We have since made the trek out from the LA area two more times in the following weeks. The drive was surprisingly fast and the food is amazing. The tabouli is the best Ive ever had. But its not just good Indian food. The stuffed mushroom caps were equally as good and the buckwheat pancakes with fresh fruit has the best homemade syrup Ive ever had. Ive been there twice, they prepare all food from scratch so its always fresh but it takes forever, specially if theres many customers, it gets kind of chaotic.So the second time I called 45 minutes in advance and placed my order, half of the food was there when I arrived and the rest was served promptly. More than you can ever imagine.If ANY restaurant has served everyone in a party, appetizers, entree’s, desert, and the final bill comes and one person ( me) whom was there for their birthday and who ordered first was not served their dinner because they forgot, THAT makes for a very unpleasant experience. Being gracious I said YES I would still like my dinner. The seating was outside and, by this time, everyone were freezing(temp. In the 30’s) but all set outside waiting for me to finally have my dinner over an hour after everyone else had finished.BUT, I was charged for my dinner.The expectation is, of course, that you pay for the food that you eat. That would be assuming everyone is served during the same time frame as liberal as that should be. If all people in a party ( 5 in this instance) have to wait until all have finished eating ant then wait for one more person in that party to begin their dinner order, that dinner order should be complimentary.Did I eat the food, yes. Was it good, yes. Was it painful for 4 others to sit outside in 30 degree weather for an hour to wait for one person to eat, yes.In my opinion, this place owes me one free dinner. My advice to anyone going here is to request visual confirmation that their order is being cooked. Great hospitality.Really appreciate the warm welcome and great views.The snow clad mountains were a spectacular view .They even gave bananas at the end of the meal to carry along for the way which was a sweet gesture.However food was not upto the mark.The aaloo parantha lacked flavor.We had ordered the cheese jalapeno paratha but due to a mix up in the kitchen they offered us aaloo parantha.The mint chutney though tasted fresh did not taste like a traditional mint chutney. The Malaysian thupka was very spicy.The service was delayed and took nearly 35 minutes to get the food although we were the only customers at that point.If you wish to experience great views and heartwarming hospitality visit this place, however the food was below expectation in our case.They do offer great variety in menu though

Its slow food, prepared with care and love, so dont be in a rush, order some appetizers (the pakoras were amazing) and enjoy the journey. This is as fresh as it gets, everything is made to order. That means having to wait at least 45 min to get your food. So worth it, nourishing meals as they should be, a labor of love. The chai tea was perfectly spiced, we ordered the naan with paneer and jalapeño, it was steaming hot and delicious.The pakora medley was some of the best pakora I have ever tried. A bowl of lentil soup, so hardy and we took the lo mein and kung pao chicken to go and it made a lovely dinner. I cannot wait to go back! But I will be ordering ahead next time ;)

This was my first visit. I gave them a 4 because I didnt actually sample the food. They said it would be a 1.5 hour wait for food (not to sit down, but to get the food after ordering). They said they had a large catering order. I decided just to get a tea. They did a great job with it. Really yummy. The staff was really courteous and genuinely seemed to care about all their customers. Next time I will give the food a try.

The food is amazingly delicious, staff is super friendly. I felt so at home here and cannot believe the incredible hospitality my family and I received while here. They even had a little playhouse inside for the kids to play in while waiting for food. Not a fast stop as everything is made fresh right when you order. Great place to relax. This place is a hidden gem. We were in town for the weekend competing in the Spartan races. We happen to be staying at the motel right next door and were googling where to eat. Went there for breakfast Saturday morning and ended up coming back 3 other times because everything on the menu is delicious. Be patient, this is not fast food. If you want faster service call ahead of time and place your order. The chef really cares about the food and each entree was full of flavor. We had the pakora as a appetizer. I will return and order two next time, it was that delicious. We shared the tofu curry, the classic Chinese Kung Pao, and the beef less Mongolian stir fry. Let me tell you, sharing food is the best way to experience this place.

We showed up and the place was empty so I started out skeptical, I dont typically like vegetarian, but my little sister had been before and its one of her favorite places. We had a family of 6 with all different tastes so we decided to all get our own thing and share. First they brought out the appetizers and I honestly would have been fine with eating those all night because the samosas were filling and the pakora was absolutely delicious. We swapped drinks, my favorite was the iced Thai tea but their mango Lassi helped cool us all down. The menu has plenty of variety. It is fresh, quality food made on the premises. When I go there, I get the feeling they truly care about their customers, no matter if its a cup of tea or a banquet. This place was a real surprise driving around Mt Pinos. Their food is, to all appearances, totally home-cooked, and tastes that way. And it is way underpriced. Their vegan stuff is excellent: we (me + wife) got a beef stroganoff with mushrooms and alternative cream sauce, and cleaned the plate together. Because there was enough for two. I dont know how this restaurant exists but Im glad it does.

WOW! I read reviews and had this place saved for months before coming here so I knew it would be worth the drive, but I was blown away! The vegan samosas, vegan naan, and vegan Malaysian laksa were absolutely phenomenal. Many have cited slow service. We stopped on our way back from San Francisco to LA on Tuesday around 3:30pm and were the only ones there and food came out quite quickly actually. We also had the cooler of the day which was watermelon strawberry and it was delish! So fresh. The staff was very kind as well. I wish it was closer to our home in LA so I could visit more frequently. I’ll definitely be returning though! It’s worth the 2 hour round trip. That’s how good it was. Sooooo flavorful it’s incredible. Open another in LA please? My only knock is that *some* items, not all, are priced far too high for this level of dining. It makes it not worth it to try the item and a shame in my opinion. We had lunch for 2 with appetizer and drinks and had leftovers for $50 including tip. So not bad, but also not cheap and we avoided some of the pricier things. I’d suggest management make tweaks to the recipe to use lower cost alternative items that can lower the price of certain dishes. $11 for a dessert is what you pay at a trendy, high end restaurant in LA or Miami, not at a casual restaurant in a tiny town on truck route. Even for organic and vegan, I’d say $8 max. Which, being in the food biz myself, you should always price menu items at 5x cost. So if 2 samosas cost $1.50 to make (overestimating here for quality) then that’s $7.50. Anything more than that is too high. Anyway, I’ll be back! Thanks for having us!
