Wonton noodle soup so hefty and great value, could easily feed 2, and they did not skimp on the wontons. As a half chinese half korean, this place was perfect for me. Kimchi tasted like chinese influence too. Everyone was so nice, I love this place!

For those that are into K-drama, Im sure youve seen actors eating Jajang Myeon炸醬麵 (black bean paste noodle). Its actually Koreanized Chinese food! As a Chinese-American born in Seoul, Korea, I grew up in one of these restaurants and ate this on a daily basis. Jajangmyeo along with tangsuyuk 糖醋肉 (sweet and sour pork, in clear sauce) and kkanpunggi 乾烹雞 (spicy fried garlic chicken), are most representative of the Korean-Chinese foods and this place is one of the very few AUTHENTIC restaurants. Tasted JUST like how I remember them as a kid. My boys LOVED the food here also. Its our go to place now when they miss grandparents cooking.

A very tasty meal with good service. We tried something new and had ham egg fried rice. It was tasty and something interesting to try. We also tried Mongolian beef which was quite spicy and delicious. Next time we will try new adventures when we return.

This restaurant has been here for more than 20 years. With a high restaurant turn over rate in the bay area, the time speaks for it. This Korean Chinese restaurant is famous for noodles. So we ordered two noodle soup. We like the Chinese pickled with shredded pork noodle soup than the beef noodle soup. Both are very tasty. The noodle is Korean style noodle. The pork is very soft. The deep fried tofu is very crispy outside and soft inside. The best is that the gravy sauce is putting in a separate bowl, so the tofu can keep the crispiness before eaten.The restaurant is good for small or big gathering. Even though its right next to El camino, its quiet inside and not affected by the busy traffic outsides. The parking on the back is a bit crowded.

I went there on last Saturday 10/14/23 to try the jjampong. Unfortunately, it’s taste unbelievable bad. ( totally different from my memory and expectation.)This noodles soup contain of a lot of tasteless vegetables, 2 tiny small and tasteless shrimp, 2 ridiculous tiny tiny scallop ( like a small peanut size), 1 mussel, and a few pcs of squids, noodles were hard and taste bad.The price is okay $13.99 + tax.As a result, I got a stomach flu and ache later on. Feel bad and won’t go back.

The FoodWhen I think of getting Black Bean Noodle (Zha Jiang Mian, 炸醬面), there are not too many in the area. But I remembered my friends recommendation of Tong Soon Garden long while back. My friend wanted Black Bean Noodle, so we ordered it along with Tong Soon Fried Rice and Mongolian Beef. The fried rice had a mix of beef, chicken, and vegetables, and was good. The Mongolian Beef has a nice tender and good flavor. The Black Bean Sauce Noodle Seafood and Beef made a good addition to the meal. They provided plenty of sauce with the noodles so you dont have to worry about running out. The noodles had a good texture and complimented well with the sauce. There were quite a few other interesting dishes I want to try, but pretty fulfilled.The MiscellaneousThe restaurant is along the main road, so parking is a bit tricky. But there are small lots nearby and some street parking. The inside is decent sized with small and large tables to accommodate. The service and staff were good, with reasonable wait time for food. Their menu has a variety of selections but not overwhelming as other restaurants. The prices are slightly on the high end, with dinner pricing through the weekend. But the food is good so is worth a try if you are looking for some Chinese Korean fusion.

I finally found a jjampong that is close to what I remember. It has a good amount of seafood and the vegetables dont interfere with the flavor of the broth.I still feel theres something missing in the broth, but its way better than everything else Ive tried so far.

I wish I would’ve filtered the reviews to “newest” instead of most “relevant” because then I would’ve avoided this restaurant! I had a very similar experience to another reviewer here. This was my first time trying this place. It was near me and seemed to have a lot variety. I checked THEIR website for menu and prices and called my order in for pick up. I ordered 7 items and didn’t think to ask for a total because I assumed their online prices were accurate!When I arrived to pick up my order I had what i thought was some sort of sense of what my total would be based on the online menu prices. Instead my total was double from what I thought! I could’ve understood a $10-15 discrepancy but not DOUBLE! When I asked the woman about the total and showed her the online menu on my phone she said it was 10 years old! I’m sorry what? If you know your menu is inaccurate wouldn’t you fix it as business????Not only that but the receipt was not itemized so I had no idea what each item cost. I paid for the food because I had family at home waiting to eat and I was hoping the food would at least be good. It was not. The only item that had flavor was the string beans. Everything else was flavorless.. we had to add sauces and seasoning to make it taste somewhat decent.I will not be eating here again nor will I recommend it. The one star is for the woman saying they made an exception for me for one of the menu items she said they no longer make but “made for me”.

If youre looking for a Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area with lots of vegetarian options and a family-style dining experience, you have to check out Tong Soon in Santa Clara.They have many vegetarian dishes, and dishes can be made per your spice level. The restaurant is also great for families, as the dishes are meant to be shared and the portions are quite large. Some vegetarian dishes to try are the veggie chow mein, kung pao tofu, and stir-fried green beans.Their service is excellent (all older ladies who push you to try various dishes). They bring out the food very quickly, and don’t rush you to leave the table.Overall, House of Nanking is a great choice for a family-style Chinese dining experience with plenty of vegetarian options.

I come to Tong Soon specifically for the house chicken. Can’t review the rest of the menu but the chicken is always wonderful - I would go out of my way to order it. I’m new to the Bay Area and Tong Soon is the first place where I’ve felt at home. I always get wonderful service and free kimchi refills without asking. I appreciate the kindness and will be a regular customer.

To start off, the food was terrible and under seasoned. The only good thing was the egg rolls and house chicken. However, when we got the house chicken last year it was boneless (without requesting) and this time they gave it bone in and when we asked our server why the change, she said we have to request it to be boneless (even though it wasnt originally like this), so why would we know to order it boneless? She didnt replace it at the end.Next, our server repeatedly asked if we wanted the water she placed on the table for each of us cause we didnt drink it. She said that if we werent drinking it to tell her immediately so she could take it away. So I dont get if theres no free water or we are expected to drink it right away?Finally, to top it all off, I felt that she deserved no tip as she was rude to us throughout our meal and the food was extremely bad. Ive been to this place enough times to know that this experience was extremely underwhelming. During billing, she said she didnt add 18% service charge which I assumed meant I could tip how much I want. She proceeded to chase me out of the restaurant saying I hadnt tipped her. She even brought another customer and explained to him we hadnt tipped her?! We explained to him that the service was so bad and that was our reason for not tipping her. She brought us back to the billing counter and said shed tick the 18% tip box if we didnt tip her (um, which is totally illegal??). After explaining to her the reason for lack of tip we tipped her a little bit, and she continue to yell at us. This is completely crazy and unacceptable. If she wanted to she couldve added the 18% to our bill but didnt want to, so I believe its acceptable to tip how much we think is fair for our experience. The fact that she ran out of the restaurant and yelled at us in the middle of the restaurant was weird. She couldve made our experience better from the start and she didnt.Although I used to love this place, I will never be going back here because of the terrible food and service.

No frills and not the most elegant restaurant around... BUT, its food is down-to-earth and excelllent with good value (taste, portion, and contents vs. cost), reminiscent of hole-in-the-wall, localized Chinese restaraunts in Korea! This is what Chinese food is all about - good food, good value, no frills nor shourcuts! This is a pleasant contrary to other such places around this area (especially the one very near this place to which I recently gave 2 stars for its continued erosion of taste, portion, content, and value). I think this will be my go-to place for this type of (comfort food) restaurant. Will try a few more times and update.

Really, really good. The food here is super satisfying and very tasty.Get the black bean noodle. Its one of the best interpretations Ive had of this dish. Plenty of shrimp and meat in the base. Thick, silky and sticky in all the right ways. The other food is really good too. Nothing was too salty or bland. The fried rice wasnt greasy and all the meats were cooked to perfection.The service here is really nice too. Quick but courteous and they were always stopping by to make sure we were ok. The place was busy too so I really appreciated the attention.

1st time trying this place because theyre open a bit later than others near me. Checked their website for menu and prices. Called an order for carry out, ordered 2- 6pc potstickers, 1 General Tsao Chicken and 1 Honey Walnut Prawns. Assuming the prices on the website were accurate, I didnt ask for a total over the phone. Should have been about $34-$35 plus tax, according to the website prices. When I arrived to pickup my order, the older Asian lady said $71.80... ?? In semi shock I said aahh.. that doesnt sound right. She showed me a menu with prices, I said thats not what your website says. She said those prices are over 10 years old. Ok, well Im pretty sure thats not MY fault, definitely False Advertising/Illegal in some way and COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!my receipt was not itemized so Im also very sure a Gratuity %age was included secretly.Typically, whatever type restaurants across the country, have a policy statement (somehow), stating Parties of 4-5 or more will have a 15-20% Gratuity automatically included in the final bill.DINE-IN ONLY!THAT DOESNT APPLY TO CARRY OUT ORDERS!You did NOT serve me throughout my visit!BUYER BE AWARE!! The quality of the food has gone way down-hill, and the prices are at least 2X what is posted on the site...Beware!!Low quality meat and a very small serving that tasted like it had been around for a while (old and cold) . Incredibly rude server. after she asked us to sit, demanded we order within 5 minutes. we thought maybe it was ok because the kitchen was closing but we realized she was being rude and pushing only us but not the other table in the kitchen! pushed us to pay before we even finished half the food we ordered.the food was also sub par and not fresh at all. really disappointed with this high rated restaurant, which makes me question the authenticity of the ratings.

Do not waste your money. Overall foods are bland and the service is terrible. The waitresses try to remove our plates in the middle of eating and make us finish our food ASAP. The owner was staring us and wanting us to leave the table, saying “hurry up” in Chinese. How rude! We just wanted to have a relaxing family dinner.

Great for large groups. Food is pretty good. Most people come here for their noodles, so if you dont know what to get, either get jjiangpong or jajiangmyun. Another popular is the beef stew(?) Not sure what it was actually called.

If Bob Murphy didnt like the food at Tong Soon, he either does not like Chinese cuisine at all or he is a shill for a competitor. Ive enjoyed Chinese cuisine from SF to NYC. Maybe the ambiance is not first rate but the flavor of the food and the quality of service is every bit as good as Hakkasan in San Francisco. I enjoy the cuisine here several times a week. The best in the area.

I went to lunch here with my family, we were seated fast and got our food quickly. I got takeout: generals chicken and mu shi pork. Both were under salted, both had slimy, unappetising meat with soggy breading. The generals chicken dish was very unevenly heated, suggesting that it was microwaved in its container. The flavors were acceptable, but overall I would order from Panda before trying this place again. (Also: the parking is indeed terrible, but if I took stars off for that then every restaurant in SF would be zero stars.)

Fried chicken wings, Ong Choy with Garlic and the Seafood Noodle with Black Bean Sauce are a must!! Everyone will be fighting over the chicken wings so if you have a very large group order two plates. Or, just order one for yourself and dont share.There is a small parking lot in the back and its perfect for large groups.

Went here for dinner with my wife. We were seated in a corner and they totally forgot us. We waited here 15 mins all the while trying to make eye contact with any waiter. I took out and ate Jjajang, Sweet and Sour Pork, and Kkanpunggi. At first, I wondered why the sweet and sour pork sauce was so thin.. It was really delicious.. It tastes like the sauce I used to eat at an old country Jjajangmyeon restaurant.. I never thought I would eat it here..ㅠㅠI should have asked for the kkanpunggi without bones. Anyway, the jjajang was delicious and I will have to try it next time I visit. By the way, it was nice that they gave me sliced onions. Haha.
