Had a delicious dinner at ttobongee chicken! Have heard a lot of good things about the food and finally decided to come tonight. We are sad we haven’t come sooner! We got the jalapeño chicken, soy garlic chicken, ttokboki, Korean corn dogs, and rice cakes with sausage. Everything was perfect and service was quick and great! We will be back soon

Visiting Pacific Grove and have eaten at 3 other places and this was the best by far. Yes it looks a bit like a greasy spoon type of joint but it was VERY good and VERY close to what you would get in a similar place in South Korean. Yang Nyum Chicken was cooked to perfection and the sauce it was swrrved is was amazing. Sause was sweet as well as having a spice kick to it just as it should. The 1/2 serving was 9 pieces. My wifes Bi Bam Bop was delicious and was big enough she has left overs for lunch. And the pickeled radishes on the side were extremely good.Definately recomend this place.

Love the half-half yangnyeom and crispy fried chicken here, comes with chips and radish, and also some 2-finger gloves. The spice levels are the real deal. Great selection of other items as well including black bean noodles and jjamppong. Humble and cozy interior with kpop playing on a screen. Plaza parking can be a bit tough during peak hours. Hope to return soon to try more stuff.

I should have taken pictures but this place has to be one of my favorite chicken wings places. It’s more like chicken legs and it is an Asian style flavor so don’t compare this to your American style wings like buffalo wild or wing Stop. This is totally different but soooooo good! Breading isn’t too much, just enough and their homemade sauces are great! Personal favorites are the honey BBQ and jalapeño BBQ.

This is the real deal. If youre looking for a tasty and authentic Korean fried chicken experience look no further. Theres also good light beers on tap to wash down the spicy wings, or imported bottles from Korea. Theres always something off-menu or special being made as well. Ask the staff for what is new! For those looking for some language training its right outside the north gate.

Everything on the menu is delicious! My favorite flavors are the original, yang num, jalapeño, and soy garlic . I think Ive tried all their flavors. If you like a super spicy flavor I recommend the maip dak. I could only eat one. Highly recommend this place and the pieces always come out perfectly crispy! Ive ordered it as takeout too many times. Im always craving this food as the quality is there. 5 stars!

Delicious fried chicken. Perfectly crispy wings. No soggy wings here. Some of the drumsticks were huge. We got the combo and it was perfect for our family of 3. We also had the clear noodles and dumplings. Each dish was great. Super nice and friendly staff. The owner was there too and he was very nice. We’ll be back.

Easily the best Korean fried chicken Ive had in the states, and also some of the best wings in general Ive had here.The wings are huge and so are the portions. I dont think Ive seen bigger wings at other places before. 100% worth going to and 100% a place well be coming back to.

All things considered this could have been a pleasant (albeit expensive) experience, but the half order of boneless yang nyum was nearly inedible. The chicken was extremely overcooked, dry, tough, and stringy. I managed to chew through and swallow the first couple pieces but it was rough on my jaw. It just got worse after that and I couldnt chew the next couple pieces well enough to swallow and had to spit them out. The rest went into the trash. Aside from the meat issues, the rest was mediocre. They were on the low end of crispy. They had an undertaste of burnt oil. The sauce was kind of flat with a comfortable chili burn on the tail end. The mandoo were fine but the sauce had an unfamiliar flavor I didnt care for. Service was ok, 20 minute wait for a takeout, but friendly. That dried out stringy chicken ruined the whole experience for me though.

I think is the first restaurant where I’ve stopped after two bites. I couldn’t finish it. I was so excited to eat tteokbokki, but it was very disappointing. The tteok (rice cakes) and fish cakes were soggy and falling apart, and the soupy sauce tasted like spicy Kraft Mac n Cheese…and not in a good way. I felt sick after my few bites. I’m definitely no picky eater, and I’m a cheap (and broke) young person who will eat pretty much anything, yet I couldn’t stomach this. Sad to say, I lost $20+.The service was ok, although the person at the front was very loudly watching videos on their phone.I don’t think I’ve ever written a one star review, and it’s sad that it goes to a Korean restaurant. Maybe their chicken is good, but I was very disappointed.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised to find a Korean chicken shop within walking distance of our house in Monterey. We recently relocated to the Peninsula and had seen this place in passing a few times and decided to give it a try. To say that we were not disappointed is a huge understatement. The restaurant is a small, cozy vibrant “greasy spoon” and it always seems to be busy. They do a big take out business in addition to the eat in. It appears to be a family business and the staff is very friendly and efficient. Even when it’s busy they manage to take orders and serve drinks while you wait for your food order. There are many Korean specialties on the menu including many varieties of chicken wings and boneless wings. Can’t go wrong with any of them. My favorite item is the Dolstat Bibimbap rice bowl. It’s served in a proper stone or cast iron pot and the rice at the bottom gets crispy and crunchy as it should. A bottle of gojuchan sauce is placed at the table so you never need to worry about running short. Perfect bibimbap, very comforting especially on a cold night. I’ve had the bulgogi beef and kimchi as well—both excellent. Authentic Korean “street food” served efficiently at a fair price. What’s not to like? First time trying Korean fried chicken.. and WOW it was delicious!! To drink I had Soju strawberry flavored, which is a beer sized bottle with 13% alcohol. I highly recommend this restaurant plus they have a really friendly staff and atmosphere. Will be coming back with friends, family and coworkers.. its a must try food!

I ordered the japchae and rice cake skewers and they were a bit subpar. The japchae just tasted of salt and pepper and was a bit overcooked. I think hmart does this better. I also enjoyed the skewers but they didnt taste extremely fresh, felt premade. The inside of the restaurant was overwhelming with a heavy air of grease. Outdoor seating was really nice! Was a bit strange a Korean restaurant didnt provide banchan.Overall didnt feel very authentic.

We were looking for Korean BBQ. Almost walked away after seeing the limited menu. So glad we decided to give it a try. The fried chicken is amazing! Very flavorful and moist. So I’ve been here a couple of times and luckily my worse experience was the first and then visits after I never had an issue. A word of advice to the mailer Filipino worker, don’t give special treatment to other customers when they’re Filipino and they speak Tagalog. My brother and I were there as well and I overheard and understood their conversation. They even got something on-the house. Treat every other customer the same, right?Now why do I give four stars? I’ve been back a few more times afterwards and I had no issues. The same waiter was there and his service was pretty good after the first encounter. I moved past it. The food is bomb and they have my favorite Cass beer so I can’t be forever salty from my first experience lol.

Definitely some of the best Korean fried chicken I’ve ever had!! Their kimchi soup was also incredible and there was SO much, really great value, I would pay 2x more for the quality and quantity of food. The owner is also an incredibly kind person who even brought us a blanket so we could eat outside. Though we were technically doing take out, he brought us shrimp chips and extra pickled radish. It’s really tough to open a restaurant in the beginning of a pandemic, but it’s clear that this place is very popular (and for good reason). I am only in the area for a few days but I’ll probably be back because the food was so good. Would HIGHLY recommend this, you HAVE TO come here.

Love eating here, we moved back from the Bay Area and have been craving Korean fried chicken, we were so happy to find this place! Met the owner and he is super kind and friendly! We usually get the soy and garlic wings and the green onion wings, love them both so much! crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside!! the fries are really great too, crisp and crunchy but super melt in your mouth!! This is my go to place for tasty chicken. The bulgogi is also really good. The chicken is juicy and very flavorful. I tend to go with the green onion. It has a very nice sauce that doesnt have much spice to it. The beef is a very nice thin cut and cooked just right. The staff has always been super friendly. Much better than Buffalo Wild Wings or Wing Stop. Look to spend about$20-30 per person after tax and tip. If you can afford it, it is worth every penny and probably my favorite restaurant in the area overall.

I had high hopes for this place. The chicken was a little ok and way overpriced. I ordered a Bibimbap and there was so much rice, with a tiny container of sauce and a little bit of veggies and he gave me the wrong order. Couldn’t turn back because I was headed home. Visited Jan 29 2020 around 1 pm - it is a Wednesday, there were four of us. The waitress was very attentive, the menu has Korean, Thai, Hawaiian, Chinese plates - they all looked so good. We ordered the Korean Dinner Box, Pad Thai and the Loco Moco. It took about 15 minutes from order to food on the table - all cooked fresh. All of the plates were good and tasty. Weve been here twice, and we will definitely come back. The food is excellent, the owners are very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. This is a small mom and pop neighborhood restaurant, in a small strip mall; so, you will definitely be eating where the locals eat! Since its small and family owned, you can probably expect to wait occasionally for service. But, its not rude to just get out of your chair, walk over to the counter, and ask for something if need more water, a beer, or whatever. Kick back, relax, and enjoy!I highly recommend Johns Burrito; its a twist on the Korean burrito with the addition of two eggs (over medium) and rice, along with vegetables and grilled meat of your choice, on top of a Korean crepe. This is one of those places that you can close your eyes and pick something off the menu and you are guaranteed to have a phenomenal plate! The service is top par, Jeff our waiter had extensive knowledge of what was on the menu and made great recommendations on what to eat & drink. So much for exploring other Monterey cuisine — this is the only place I go to now! I stumbled upon this place a few months ago by sheer luck because it was close to the Asilomar tide pools. So glad that I now know about this place. Any time I find myself driving through Monterey, I find myself craving their amazingly flavorful and juicy chicken and their kimchi fried rice. Absolutely the most delicious Korean food in the area. The bib bim bop was AMAZING and served in a piping hot stone bowl and their kim chi is perfect for only being made a few days prior. I have loved the real KFC hit my taste buds in Seoul at the tender age of 20. No other fried chicken hits the mark- so very crispy, spicy, sweet, umami-licious. Lightly battered, twice fried, this place absolutely nails it. The menu is way tighter than the old BBQ place, which everything revolving around the sacred bird. I ate my garlic wings with a side of homemade kimchi and pickled daikon- a nice palate cleaser between bites. I even finished my meal feeling moderately healthy! The only thing missing was a soju bomb. Keep them in business so we can all celebrate over one after the pandemic.

Me and my husband decided to visit the restaurant after we tried their food at a local festival. It was a complete disappointment. Aside from the long wait (30 minutes at a tiny restaurant), the dishes were just blend and over priced. Loco Moco had a very blend sauce, dry patties, and wrong-cooked eggs (no runny egg yolk)--nothing was done right. Kalua pork didnt taste anything like Kalua pork, with tiny portion of pork and a huge pile of rice that I could clearly tell was a leftover from the previous day given the odd smell. This was the worst Hawaiian dishes Ive ever had. If you are here to try good quality Hawaiian dishes, you should think twice.

My wife and I were really looking forward to having lunch there. When we arrived there at approximately 1200 there was a sign on the door saying short staffed will be open at 430. Fast forward to 500. We pull into the parking lot and the front door was open. As we walk in we are told sorry we are closed the cook is sick going on saying they were taking her to the ER. After picking up my son from his school, my family went to this restaurant today (April 21, 2016)at 5:00pm. The lady who is the owner of this restaurant took our order. She was serious, no greetings from her but we started to make conversation with her asking how old is her restaurant and she answered back 4 years old. After 5 to 10 minutes our food was ready and that was great! My wife ordered spicy pork and while eating she found a hair and I suggested to show it to the lady. The lady said, it was not a hair but it was a ginger thread. So my wife went back to our table and our son wanted to see it. Our son made a comment like this Its really a hair Mom! Right there and then, the lady grabbed all our plates and glasses of water and said with an angry voice. Okay, you dont have to pay!. We were so shocked. We were not even finished with the food. And me and my son were still eating as we have a different order. I would say that this woman who claimed to be the owner was so RUDE in handling the problem like this. My wife said to her, my son is still finishing his food and were not done yet! But she continued acting being rude with no manners infront of us, especially infront of our son. I never experienced a server most especially an owner of a restaurant to be so rude and with no character.This is my message to the owner of this restaurant: I am an Engineer and my wife is working in a hotel for almost 15 years. And if you think that we just came to your restaurant and complained just to have a free meal SHAME ON YOU!
