We are a group of four, and its become my go-to place for satisfying my spicy cravings. We ordered a variety of dishes, including Toothpick Lamb, Jelly Noodles, Layered Pig Ear, Beef Combination Frog with Golden Soup, and Mongolian Beef.I must start by raving about the Toothpick Lamb – the flavor is absolutely incredible. The only downside is that the portion size is a bit small, but the taste more than makes up for it. The Pig Ear dish also left a positive impression – its flavorful and quite tasty. However, for those who cant handle too much spiciness, its essential to take note of the menus indicated spice levels. My tolerance is relatively high, but some of my family members found themselves sweating while eating, so proceed with caution if youre spice-sensitive.On the other hand, the Mongolian Beef was a real highlight. It was delicious, and I have no complaints about it whatsoever.Unfortunately, the Beef Combination Frog with Golden Soup left something to be desired. The portion of the frog was disappointingly small, and the way it was cut was a bit odd. I ended up mostly eating the joints and bones, which was less than satisfying.

A little overpriced but very delicious food!We tried chive & tofu stir fry, sesame balls (their most famous dish), toothpick lamb stir fry, and lotus root with pork.Only complaint I have about the food is that lotus root with pork literally had two tiny pieces of pork. Im talking like fingernail tiny lol we were very confused and thought maybe they forgot to put in the meat but the server said thats how its supposed to be.Everything was very delicious though, and we are definitely planning to go back. Just not gonna order the lotus root dishThe sesame balls were so interesting too. We ordered it because it seemed super famous and popular. Honestly, it was kinda weird at first because its savory and slightly spicy at first but inside is sweet and chewy so it wasnt fully a savory dish nor a dessert dish. But it grew on us as we kept eating it. Definitely give it a try!!I liked that the interior was clean and new. Im hoping more restaurants like this opens near us!

This Chinese restaurant is okay. We tried the duck and the fish & tofu, and they were tasty but pretty spicy. The next day, both me and my partner had some tummy troubles, probably because the spice level was higher than what were used to. It didnt hurt, though, so maybe it was just the spiciness. The food is good, and we got seated quickly. The duck wasnt my favorite, but it was okay. Overall, its a good place to try Chinese food in town, just be careful if youre not a fan of too much spice!

Ive been coming here for the last year or two since moving to the area. Its a great spot with authentic northern Chinese flavors. Food is a bit spicier than bay area ppl might be used to but very tasty.Recommended dishes: fried diced chicken la zi ji, noodle dishes, veggie combo with celery and lily, bead curd pork, string beans, intestine, and duck, fried rice with spare ribs, toothpick beef, Dan Dan noodles, lemonade

Tasty and expansive menu offering great Hunan style dishes. This restaurant is close to Berkeley and worth the trek up. The dining area has lots of tables so there usually isn’t a wait though it’s usually fairly busy with guest. This was my second time going so we tried a few new dishes. I am a fan of spicy and numbing foods so everything tasted delicious, but my favorites are always any of the white fish soups (sliced flounder). The tea served with our meal was also quite tasty.Lots of options for everyone so definitely give this place a try!

This was my last meal in the bay after having been here 8 years, and I genuinely mean it when I say this is some of the best Hunan food lve had in the area, if not ever. I wish I had found this place sooner. The prices are more than fair for the portion size, we were a party of four and ordered four dishes + a starter (with rice) and left completely stuffed. The spice is no joke, but it burns in the best way possible. The sliced beef tendon in chili is the most fragrant lve had, and had a kick that Im not usually used to but absolutely loved. The eggplant and string beans were also a hit, its basically my two go-to veggie dishes mixed in one. I dont think Ive ever had toothpick lamb that I didnt like, and this version was no exception (they saute it with celery that actually pairs really well - coming from someone who avoids celery 95% of them time)My only gripe about what we ordered is that I wish the old school lamb hot pot had a bit more lamb and veggies, there wasnt too much of both to go around.Wish I were still close by, I cannot wait to come back

Came here for a group dinner. Had 8 different dishes: mapo tofu, frog,, squid, glutinous rice balls, beef tendon slices, fried rice, and others. All dishes came out sizzling, bubbling hot. Amazing flavors and spices. Great accommodating service for our group of 16. As for parking, plenty of parking during weeknights.

This is one of the best Chinese Restauran in the bay area. We had been to Great China and spent $200-$300 for 4 people. Here you ordered 5 big orders, it costs you only $85! Food is phenomenal! The restaurant is so nice and clean. The service is super fast! We like everything we ordered. I recommend spicy clam and chicken. Hunan Beef is amazing! Food doesnt come with rice so I recommend you order pork fried rice to go with it. (Huge plate that 4 people can share for $12!) The servers told me that staff LOVEs fishes here. So we have to go back. Try to bring a group and share food. It is fun and delicious to share and have a good time together.

Best Chinese food I’ve ever had! And I have lived in east coast, mid west and west coast and travelled to >40 countries! No sweet base, just yummy and some really good spicy 🌶 options for spicy food lovers. Not to mention they had multiple meat and seafood options to choose from including lamb and their portions were very generous and shareable. Highly highly recommend this place. Will take as many ppl there as possible- it should be on everyone’s bucket list to have authentic Chinese food! Yum can’t wait to go back. 😋
