I enjoyed the food. I think it is a new gen kitchen, e.g., less oil/ grease, white meat chicken without asking and brown rice at no extra charge. You know Davis, Ca, if you know Davis. Try it out and see what you think. They also have ice cream!
Service was great, and the food was really delicious. I had the teriyaki chicken, which came on a bed of noodles with onions. Tasted really fresh. My friend had the cashew chicken, which she says was really good. We also got a large rice to share, which did not come with the main meals; had to order rice separately. All of it came out within 10 minutes of ordering and it was all hot. Will be visiting again!
We have been here a lot of time and it’s perfect for soup! Whenever it’s a rainy day and we’re craving soup, we come here for the super tasty soups. The other dishes are great too! Customer service is great and the staff is friendly.

I mean it was just nasty i order shrimp chow main pork fried rice honey walnut shrimp and beef and broccoli... total out 70 something i didnt blink i was like okay its worth it...shhiitt i was dead wrong.. the person who took our oder sadid fifteen minutes we went to nugget four to five minutes max! Came back nd foof was wziting !!!!!!! Nd in my head i was like hmmm that was way to fast...nothing was hot nd smeĺling fresh AT ALL... man nun of the food the food was fresh i feel like it was all old food....i will never again im so disappointed in this this place i will take pictures of the slop they gave us
When I found this place, I was happy! The food is always great and the is fantastic. I drive 30 minutes to enjoy their food. They have something for everyone. Great selection of combination lunch/dinner plates and ala cáete dishes. Their lunch specials are a great deal. If in the area you have to stop and try for yourself.
I ordered honey walnut shrimp and the quality of the shrimp tasted horrible. The vegetables were very soggy and looks old. The sause was very runn and made the taste seem very bad. So far out of this dish the steamed rice was he best. Walnuts kinda look burnt but not black burnt. I dislike the service when I bought the dish. They didnt seem to notice that I was here. After I got the food there was only one particular server who was nice but then again she also pay attention and I had to wait like an extra 4 minutes for them to get my food.
I gave them 4 stars because I rounded everything out. 1 thing for sure is that their honey walnut shrimp was amazing! Fresh, tasty, not fishy. I was so disappointed in the fried rice though. Out of my whole combo meal the only good thing was the honey walnut shrimp. The service was excellent though.
Loved it! Worth the drive from Sacramento just for Chinese food! The Hunan Shrimp with Chow Mein was delicious! Orange chicken was amazing, you can actually taste the citrus!

Pot stickers were cold, wor wonton soup seemed uncooked, the broth was thin and tasteless, the mu-shu came already wrapped, so the bottoms were wet, and the lemon chicken was sticky sweet.

I think the food is pretty good, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired at times. One time with my friend we were promptly seated and then totally ignored. We saw employees walking around but everywhere but our table. Its not the customers job to get the server to do their job. We left and ate somewhere else with far better service. Most recent we ate there again and the service was good this time. The problem was our takeout leftovers. We forgot it and we came right back within 15 minutes and they had already tossed it in the trash. They couldnt have cared less. They did replace it, but made my friend wait a long time. The replacement had far less meat and veggies compared to what was tossed out. What we forgot should have been saved and then tossed it out if we dont come back that evening. The place is streaky and my friend will not go back as you never really know what to expect.
Such delicious Chinese food, very consistent. I visit or order out maybe once a month. The mushu vegetables is my favorite menu item, but everything Ive tried is high quality and delicious

A friend and I had eaten here just this evening. I heard about the place from my sister, so Id been wanting to find the time to be able to relax & have a good dinner.Boy, was I disappointed. The employees (all nationalities EXCEPT Chinese) were friendly, informative on menu items and polite) service was exceptionally splendid and served very quick. Although, the food wasnt at all like I hoped. Not even on average was it anything to have a question whether to return some day. Because...for the price...NEVER! Overcooked sweet&sour pork, semi-hard steamed vegetables, bland rice & not even enough sauce on top or within the main dish meats.My friend eats everything and whatever I do not finish usually, but tonight was opposite. We are both heavy stomach feeling and nothing really hit the spot. I wish we hadnt chosen that spot.You may want to rethink on where any of you choose to eat your next meal. If u decide to eat at WokOf Flame I hope that you dont experience the same.
In general this restaurant was ok. The egg rolls were very good. The sweet and sour pork was ok at best. The meat its self was quite over cooked. The sauce was good. Service was spotty. When they attended to me, they were fine, but they did not attend frequently. Second time eating here and my memory was of a similar experience.
2nd trip, both times a long wait and terrible service. Lost our order that was placed 40 mins prior. Wont ever go back. I ordered shrimp egg foo yung and got 2 shrimps with it. This place is the worst Chinese place Ive EVER!!!! Been!!!!! Do NOT go!!!!!!!!!!
In spite of good service and friendly staff, sadly the food was over priced and really either tasteless in the vegetable dish and just strange (not in a nice way) in the chow mein. Hot and sour soup is good tho, really nice! Weve been a number of times before in our 7 years in Davis...... thats the last ... just feels like each visit we hope... and increasingly disappointed. Im pleased to see that so many others do enjoy the food (even at those prices).. just no longer us.
Service is absolutely stellar. Food is delicious, affordable and come in great portions. They definitely have some of the best chow mein!
Good meal, good environment. Only complaint is it follows the trend of American ethnic restaurants where they just make everything sweet for white people who cant handle spices and peppers in food lol overall totally satisfied with them just wish there was less sweetness in the sauces.

The chow mien was great! Also the orange chicken actually had hints of orange which was nice! The pork fried rice was as expected, nothing special. The server took a while to get our drinks to us but once we got our soups our followed right after and everything was nice and hot. We will definitely be returning here! Not too expensive either!
I was positively surprised by this place. The service was nice, premises clean and staff very friendly. But the best part is that the food was delicious, they have tons of options and the amounts of food are incredibly high. All of this for a very cheap price! The 6 of us had dinner for only around $10 each. Highly recommended!
Maybe it was a bad night, right after Christmas, but we waited an hour for take out. They didnt put much meat in the mixed chow mein. Crowded!
I have tried to like this place and I just cant get there. The food is so mediocre and the servers need much more training. The last experience was that I had my leftovers boxed up to take home, but forgot them. I went back in ten minutes and they had been thrown out. In the dishes with seafood, you are lucky to get three shrimps.

Ordered chicken chow mein, but its just noodles in soy sauce, with a few pieces of meat. No veggies, no carrots, no greens, no bean sprouts like chow mein should have. It was disappointing. Maybe other dishes are better.
Best Chinese food in Davis hands down.
I love this place. It is so reliable and the staff is very pleasant and attentive. Even if you cannot sit inside, they are happy to help out. If you are able to sit inside, enjoy some clever art sprinkled about the place. If you are not able to, the food travels really well so grab some takeout! I always get the wonton soup and even that travels very well.
Well... actually weve just tried it for the first time... Its GOOD!! The pork fried rice was pretty good... considering its the yellow rice. We... (the wife, sister in-law and the grandson, 2 years old) had the lunch specials. I had the General chicken, non spicy. Excellent! The chow main could use more veggies but all in all.... 5 freakin stars yall!!

Very nice customer service, but quality of food is sometimes lacking. Food usually tastes fresher dining in compared to take out. Last time I ordered take out my order was wrong and the chicken was cold and hard to bite. Not to mention, I pick up my food at the time they say it will be ready. Otherwise, their lunch menu is a good price for the amount if food given.
I ordered egg foo young with brown rice. Over half the plate was brown rice. Service was pretty good although it was obvious the waiter was new; he kept coming back to ask questions. Not bad. I might return to try another dish. Lunch specials are served until 3.
Very nice dinner for two! Good traditional Chinese family restaurant with excellent food. Reasonable prices, great service and very well prepared food. Kind of noisy, but nothing that interferes with a table conversation. All in all a very nice place to enjoy a good meal with friends and family.CD

I went to lunch with 2 coworkers. We all got lunch specials. Choices include one entree (great selection including various chicken, beef, veggies, shrimp dishes), hot and sour soup, and 2 sides (choice of pork fried rice, white rice, brown rice, veggie chow mein, or steamed veggies). Let me tell you: best Chinese food Ive had in YEARS! The hot and sour soup was delicious! We respectively got lemon chicken, sesame chicken and garlic chicken. The garlic chicken was in sauce with veggies, and the other 2 were breaded and sauced. I got the lemon chicken and was able to get the sauce on the side, which few places do. We were all able to do 2 sides of pork fried rice, which was very flavorful. I normally pick out the peas and carrots from fried rice, but the rice being so flavorful meant I didnt need to. The service was friendly, quick and efficient. I will drive out of my way from Sacramento to come here again!
Garlic chicken was not palatable besides not been fresh. Was surprised to find garlic chicken which was completely fried and served as if it was sweet and sour chicken. No rice was served with dinner entrees although the prices were high. Certainly had much better and fresh food elsewhere.
Not great service and the food was so so. Our waiter seemed out of it (drunk or stoned). Asked for dish to be medium hot spicy and it wasnt hot at all. It wasnt even medium.Then another waiter cleared the table after we finished eating and I told him we wanted to take the leftovers. He put a dirty plate on top of one of our leftover dishes and we stopped him to make sure he was going to put the leftovers in a box. He then switched the plates so our leftovers were not underneath the dirty plate. He did ultimately bring us the leftovers after he boxed them but then didnt bring us leftover containers for our soup or the other dishes we had remaining.Not a great experience.
I went out with some friends the other night and this place was fast and delicious! We had a great time and enjoyed the best honey walnut shrimp I have ever tasted. Also, my order had a mistake in it and they handled it very graciously and proffessionally.
I like to come here for lunch. I usually come here after the lunch crowd; parking is easier and I never feel rushed. I order one of the lunch specials (the Honey Walnut Shrimp is my favorite), with brown rice and nicely steamed vegetables for my sides. The lunch special comes with a cup of Hot and Sour soup. On cold rainy days, I think I should cancel my order and just have a large bowl of the soup. I have met friends here for lunch and dinner. I also have called in orders and picked them up on my way home from work.
I have been to this place twice and my experience was pretty good both of the times. The environment is relax and food is of good quality by Davis standards. I really liked the vegetable chow mein with Shanghai spicy chicken. The hot and spicy soup is pretty good with all its flavors. Food is definitely not bland at this place. By far the best place for Chinese food in Davis. I would recommend taking your friends and family here

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Davis. My family owned 5+ restaurants from 1984 until 2015 when they retired. I worked in 2 of their restaurants so I like to think I know good quality Chinese food when I see/taste it. I typically get the chicken corn soup, cheese wontons, shrimp w/lobster sauce, walnut shrimp, and brown rice. I have tried their shrimp chow fun (but ask them to use less soy sauce, so itll be a nice light brown color. If you prefer more soy sauce, you could always add it on yourself). Food is delicious every single time I get it and none of it is spicy!!
Weve always had a good dining experience here. The food doesnt disappoint and the service was prompt. However when we ordered Chinese tea, it was with lukewarm water in our cups which wouldnt do much to enhance the teabag. Normally we would get piping hot water in a teapot with Chinese tea leaves or bags in it. The waiter knew the water was lukewarm but only brought a plastic pitcher of warm water when we asked for hot water.
I think this is the best Chinese food in Davis. They make all their own sauces, so you arent getting some generic gross goop. They use lots of fresh veggies, which is a big bonus with me. Plus, they are always really nice to their customers. Unlike other Chinese restaurants in Davis.
Funny name combined with the culinary skill and courteous service to back it up! Sweet and savory dishes of many regions, all delectable. The salt & pepper green beans (asparagus too, in season) are tasty, and one of my favorite entrees is the Beijing Chicken. Also, the mushu dishes and the eggrolls are excellent!
This is probably the best or at least one of the top three Chinese food restaurants in Davis. The Singapore street noodles are incredible - the perfect mix of spice, curry and noodles for a filling meal. Their vegetarian egg rolls are always incredibly fresh - very nicely fried and prepared with a light touch on the oil. Vegetarians will love the tofu options and the veggie dishes - all prepared just right by the great cooks in this kitchen.

If you like non traditional Chinese food then this is the perfect place for you. The food is absolutely delicious. Our personal favorites include general chicken, salt and pepper chicken, and cream cheese wontons. The service is fast and friendly. I took off a star because it is a little pricey but still worth it.
If you like spicy food this is the place to go. If not, stay away. My husband really liked it. He loves spicy food. I dont eat spicy food and thats all they have. There was nothing for me to eat here.
The food was bad the service was bad. I ordered a soda in the waitress brought me one refill and then took the glass away... My favorite part was listening to the fight beteewn to doordash Delivery Men... She also forgot one of my entrees... Then charged for a family size dish. When I wanted a side. Well never eat there again... Do I want my furtune cookies... NO!!! $0 tip. Couldnt get out of that restaurant fast enough. What a terrible end to an almost perfect Saturday. Thanks wok of flame.
If it is your first visit, get the sizzling rice soup. I get it every time I go. Mongolian shrimp is excellent, but so is everything on the menu. Salt and pepper chicken wings are a standout as well.
They are a good deal because for the price they have really nice portions. The food is good quality and I highly recommend the dinner deal because it is SOOO much for the price you pay. I never finish it, so it’s two meals for me :)

Heard a lot of good feeds from here so gave them a try and was not happy with my food. I was there first thing in the morning and was expecting my food to be fresh a great but was disappointed because food tasted like it was re-heatted and wont be going back. Food tasted like I was at a fast food restaurant and I was hoping for great quality food.
A wonderful surprise as we were passing through town. The Kung Pao shrimp was perfect with crunchy, fresh mixed vegetables and shrimp. The sesame chicken was delicious too. Now we know where to stop on our next trip to Davis!
This place has the best Chinese selection in town. Hot and sour soup is delicious. Also try the chow fun with the gravy! Everything we have tried has been great. And the price is great for the quality of food you get.

Seating and decor is great, but the service leaves one somewhat wanting. Fried dishes come out soggy. Prices arent the cheapest for the quality you get not the portion sizes.

Awesome place to stop. My family and I were heading to tahoe in traffic when 6 oclock roles around and the kids start losing it. Before my wife and I start losing it too I found this place on the map and pulled off. One of the best decisions Ive ever made. My family is gluten and dairy intolerant so finding any place that can accomodate our needs, let alone with excellent food, is more than a challenge. When we got there we were seated immediately. We asked about their sauces and ingredients and they were very accomodating. The food arrived fast, hot, and delicious. The ingredients were clearly extremely fresh. Even my picky 4 year old was chowin down. The service was amazing. Every need we had was anticipated. We never had to wait to ask for anything. It was like I was at a 5 star restaurant. And the best part was the price! 4 course meal, family of 4 for 35$, with leftovers!I cannot recommend this place enough.
Ive only tried their combos which is like a better panda express. My personal experience with their food is that it is a little salty. The great thing about this place is that you get a little bit of everything when you cant decide what you want. Service here is really good, just not that fond of the food.
Wok of Flame has Chinese food that is not as authentic as it can be, but downright delicious when you feel like having Chinese food. Serving sizes are large, the food is a good balance of flavors - not too heavy on the salt, oil, or heat. If this place was closer downtown, I would probably eat here once a week, if not more.
First time there. Nice friendly atmosphere and customer service was great. Had Singapore noodles, was your normal typical Chinese noodles nothing to write home about. Overall nice place for a quick bite

A little disappointing. I got potstickers and the mongolian beef. The dough on the potstickers was way too thick. Then the beef for the mongolian beef looked a bit strange. Fully cooked the meat was a sort of pink. I wondered if I was eating beef.

This is now my favorite Chinese Restaurant in Davis with excellent tasty food. Customizing is no problem - Im allergic to mushrooms which they happily remove from Chicken Egg Foo Yung and put the gravy - which I find a little too salty - on the side. Yum. I love their Wor Wonton Soup. This has all kinds of vegetables - carrots, cabbage, zucchini, water chestnuts plus chicken and shrimp with the won tons. Its delicious. Our favorite dishes include Sesami Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Honey Walnut Shrimp with either Pork Fried Rice or House Chow Mein.The Egg Rolls are really tasty and crispy. Sometimes its enough to just get the Appetizer Platter (Po Po Platter) with rice or noodles. Its a casual setting with both booths and tables and a couple of big screen TVs and consistently decent service. $$

Definitely a standout in the genre of Chinese food for people who dont necessarily like Chinese food. I didnt see a single chopstick in the place. Tasty, big portions, reasonably priced, and right off the highway.

Wok of flame is a tremendous establishment, not least because of their dynamite chicken and fantasic green beans. And dont even get me started on the quality of the green tea - absolutely fabulous. Green beans and green tea go together flawlessly. One thing I would suggest to fix is the various sauces provided- especially the rooster sauce- it made me pass tremendous gas a few minutes after trying it. But anyway, the dynamite chicken recommended by my waiter did indeed taste like a bomb (as he suggested), and came out like one too. Once I combined the chili paste with the aforementioned g-beanz, I was transported to a blissful mental state I imagine Kerouac was in when penning On The Road. As confucius once said, meat should be eaten in moderation ... so the green beans are an ideal meal and stand on their own. Im kind of regretting not getting the hot and sour soup...my son Alec seems to be quite enjoying it and his whole demeanor seems to have been elevated to a transendental level. Amazing to witness. And the best part was the attention to detail, particularly when i came to the tremendous service which ensured that my water glass was always full - a necessity to cool down the flavor explosions taking place in my food hole.

Great food, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. Wok of Flame is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Davis. The menu includes all of the customary dishes we are used to seeing in America, plus some interesting fusion- style dishes and a small selection of items from other Asian cuisines (e.g. ramen, soba etc.). One of my very favorite things about WoF is that in dishes where the protein is customarily deep-fried (sweet & sour pork, orange chicken, mandarin beef), you can request that the meat be wok-seared rather than breaded and deep-fried. This not only cuts down on fat and calories, it transforms the dish into a lighter, fresher experience. Delicious! Their renowned green beans are also well-deserving of their excellent reputation.

I really dont understand what people like about this place. It was not cheap, service was not especially good, and the food was both bland and over-salted. The food was edible but I wont be going back.
Nice restaurant and food. Servers and hostess could use a little training on professionalism. I would suggest that when they clean the tables they dont wipe the food scraps on the floor and leave them.

We went during lunch time and were able to get lunch specials for the whole family, which were reasonably priced for the quantity of food you get. The server was friendly. My husband, myself, and 4 kids ranging from 11 years to 6 months all ate and were satisfied. I would recommend this place.

2023-11-08 10:23:11The moo shu weirded me out so much... It comes prewrapped. So its not cabbage bonanza with wraps, its all the things already wrapped, four on a plate. Comments:1. The wraps are square. Yes. We unwrapped them to discover this.2. Sauce is already in there. I had one that had so much sauce I almost gagged.3. Pre wrapped means I cant get my Chipotle style bursting at the seams sized wrap.4. Four. Four wraps. What a weird and superstitious number.5. The wraps are the super thin good ones.6. It came with an additional carafe of sauce.I think we got other food. I just cant remember because the wraps messed with my mind.

Some are super greasy and others seem a bit fresher, but even the really good Americanized Chinese restaurants are never fantastic?I think I found the place they are all emulating, and the chefs at Wok of Flame definitely didnt give away their REAL recipes.I had a dinner combo. They come with soup, an appetizer, and a common side of fried rice, chow mein, etc You know the drill. What you dont know is that even if the dish you want isnt on their list, they will turn any entree in the menu into a meal by just adding a few dollars to the menu price. How great is that?? . So, tonight I ordered BBQ Pork Egg Foo Young and got to make it a combo. Here are my highlights:The Egg Foo Young was perfectly cooked with a fantastic gravy - strong and flavorful - which is why they didnt need to down the eggs in it.The BBQ pork fried rice was excellent. It wasnt overly greasy and the flavor was full but not overpowering.But honestly, it was the homemade sweet and sour sauce that captured my attention. Honestly, Im not the biggest fan of Sweet and Sour. But this one has me rethinking that. It was naturally sweetened, not cloying, with what Im guessing was pineapple juice. But it has this added note, a subtle spiced flavor that you can smell and taste. Its familiar but I still cant figure out what it is. I asked the server to ask the kitchen about a special ingredient. She came back and told me that the chefs told her that this sauce, like everything else here, is made with love.Of this, I have no doubt. But I think Ill just ask the next time I visit. Eventually Ill figure out this mystery!! 🧐

2021-10-25 03:32:03The venue is pretty nice inside, there are some TVs on in the background with cartoons on that make the evening not so quiet. The area we sat had kind of a strange smell and the table had not been cleaned very well.As for the food, the wonton soup and hot and sour soups were very good, I would definitely go back for those. The orange chicken was also very good, all white meat chicken. However, the Szechuan chicken was not good had a strange flavor.Overall, I probably will not be going back, except maybe to get some soup to go.

She was a very lovely lady and so humble. She was fast and very kind. She had some great recommendations. Anyhow, great food, great staff, great service. Kudos to this business and the owner for having great staff.

2023-11-13 04:13:36Had one of the worst experiences at a restaurant. I love Thai food, and more specifically, Tom Ka (coconut soup). When I came in, I was so excited about it! The nice older lady took our order and informed me of the bad news that they ran out of ingredients of my faviorate dish. So, with a sad face, I had to order Red Curry. Me and my girl shared 3 dishes between us. Toward the end of our meal there was another table next to us that came in 20 minutes later, and to my surprise where able to get my faviorate dish (Tom Ka). For some wild reason, now they had the right ingredients. Wierd, right? The only reason is to give 2 stars that the food was decent, otherwise unsatisfied. 😤

We ordered the general chicken (orange chicken) and honey walnut shrimp. Both come with two choices of sides. We chose brown rice, steamed veggies, chow mein and white rice.
