Ding How Restaurant
640 W Covell Blvd, Davis, CA 95616, United States
There’s some variation in food quality on a day to day, but if you catch them on a good day, you won’t be able to get a better Chinese takeout meal in Davis. As someone who has lived in Hong Kong and whose family is from there, this is my favorite Cantonese-style American Chinese restaurant in Davis. Their chow mein is such a comfort with good wok hei. I also love their orange chicken with real mandarin peel in the sauce. Like any restaurant, if you go in ordering the wrong stuff, you won’t get the most out of your meal. Sweet and sour pork lunch special is solid — more moist and flavorful that the chicken counterpart. The lunch specials in general are such a great deal. I love that we can dine-in again because I enjoy getting a hot & sour soup with my meal. Skip their mapo tofu and west lake soup if you’re looking for something more traditional (they’re not done correctly here). Get to know which chef you like and try to order on the days that they’re working. For the dishes that are tasty, there isn’t a better place in Davis for them. Service is stern, but good. That’s how a classic Asian restaurant operates. I don’t pay money for warm and fuzzy vibes; I pay for the food. That being said, I enjoy dining in. The restaurant interior is calm and relaxing. Bonus: They have an EXTENSIVE vegan menu that includes a plethora of imitation meats (similar to the kind you often find in Asian Buddhist monasteries). It’s a hidden gem, really.
Four Seasons Gourmet Chinese Restaurant

Maggie is the best, and so is her restaurant. Im always telling people that the Chinese Restaurant in the gas station is the best Chinese food in Davis.
Hunan Bar & Restaurant
207 D St, Davis, CA 95616, United States
Its one of those Chinese restaurants that are best for casual gathering with family and friends. The food comes with decent quality and style. The waitresses are very friendly. Id be happy to be there again next time I visit UC Davis campus.
Panda Express
1491 W Covell Blvd, Davis, CA 95616, United States
For me, a Chinese, I didnt find Panda Express more attractive compared with other Chinese restaurant in the town. Honestly speaking, its quality is just so-so. Maybe its because it has became an American-Chinese food style restaurant.
MT BBQ HOUSE

I bet most of these reviews are from employees, friends, family of the owner. This was by far the most atrocious restaurant Ive gone to downtown (my friends who accompanied me also agree). Extremely slow service, unclean/cramming setup, one of the grills wasnt working, the portions were incredibly small and misleading on the menu (photo = us getting billed over $50 if you also imagine 2 small sides), and everything took forever to cook (a blend of the thick meat cuts and the questionable grills). We got ripped off, too. Upon receiving the check, my friend noticed some of the orders hadnt arrived, yet they were billing us for it. We let them know what was missing, then the owner came out and glared at us, and had one of the waiters come up and tell us we were wrong. They were trying to drain every ounce of cash from us that they could, which was sad considering how poor the service was. We ended up getting some of the items off the bill from initially speaking up about it, but after the rude owner came in, all we wanted to do was leave ASAP. The one waiter we had was the only good thing about the restaurant; I feel bad for him having to work there. Anyways, we went to McDonalds, which was far superior. We shouldve gone there to begin with, but at least now we know never to come back.
Panda Express
1906 N Davis Rd, Salinas, CA 93907, United States
Do NOT support this Panda Express!! They refuse to give you a few extra pieces of chicken if you ask...which is against corporates policy, and they do not give 10% off to veterans and first responders. The shift leader lied to my face about the discounts. I am a first responder, and I showed my ID and asked for 10% off, and she refused and said that they do not give discounts to veterans. She claimed that no Panda Expresses give discounts which I pointed out was a lie, then she said Panda Expresses in California do not give discounts to veterans which I also told her was a lie, and then she went on to say that their specific Panda does not give discounts to service members. I know she was lying because I used to work for Panda Express, and it is in Pandas handbook to give discounts to first responders. This Panda is the WORST Panda I have ever been to; they need to fire the entire management team of this location!
Noodle House
1022 N Davis Rd, Salinas, CA 93907, United States
This is a small chinese, vietnamese restaurant in a strip mall. Very attentive service. There is a lot of selection, very surprising considering the size of the restaurant. I enjoyed my meal very much oh, I did choose Vietnamese food as that is my favorite. The prices are extremely reasonable. I would recommend this place if you are alone or with a group.
Dumpling House
129 E St, Davis, CA 95616, United States
Used to be my favorite place in Davis, I ate here often when I was working for the university. Was eagerly awaiting their reopening and excited to support them again... but Its just not as good. Still probably a decent deal if youre craving dumplings. The pros:1. The veggies dishes are cooked to a perfect done-ness, and very flavorful.2. The people who work there are very nice and I like supporting them3. The dumplings are handmade! The cons.1. Prices have gone up - totally fine as this is how it is everywhere now, but the quality of the food has not remained the same.2. The dumplings have more dough in them, taking away from the enjoyment of the filling.3. The popcorn chicken (used to be 5-spice breaded chicken) is now a greasy pile of unknown chicken parts with too little salt.4. The broccoli side used to be beautiful Chinese (the elongated ones) tossed with fresh garlic, but now seems to be just a couple spoonfuls of pre-minced garlic thrown onto blanched broccoli.Probably the worst part... when I got my food last night, my friend and I walked a block away to eat and we unboxed everything, the dumplings were lukewarm. The other dishes (popcorn chicken and broccoli) were still very hot. I dont know if this is because they were sitting out for a while, but lukewarm pork dumplings made us really uneasy and we waited to eat them until we got them home and cooked them in the pan to appropriate temp.Probably not going back, sadly. Sorry Dumpling House, maybe Im just too picky as I have aged.
Sesame INC
825 Russell Blvd #21, Davis, CA 95616, United States
Expect the greatest customer service and hospitality in Davis when you visit here.It was our first time eating a snack here and it was delicious. The pineapple and pork buns are the greatest I've ever had and the staff were very kind to me even though there was a slight language barrier. I love this place and was treated with respect. Thank you Sesame staff and specifically the nice old Asian lady who made my first time here enjoyable. I appreciate it.
Wok of Flame
417 Mace Blvd, Davis, CA 95618, United States
Were relatively new to Davis and have had many people recommended this restaurant. Im rather particular about Chinese food (I have some Chinese in me and my grandfather was Chinese/Hawaiian and was an amazing cook). Wok of Flame won me and my boyfriend over for many reasons. We love the fact that they have traditional book style menus, the ambiance is great, the service is excellent and the food is so fresh and flavorful! We shared a plate of potsickers which were a nice size with crispy edges and the dipping sauce was divine. He had a bowl of Hot and Sour soup and I had a bowl of Egg Drop soup. They were both nice and hot and delicious. The only thing that was missing was white pepper, they dont offer it, and I believe thats the first Chinese restaurant Ive been to that doesnt offer white pepper which is a staple for adding to soup. The Dynamite Beef was nice and crispy in a great sauce with crunchy veggies...a real delight. The vegetable chow mein was great as well. We both had iced teas (Oolong perhaps) and it was very refreshing. We will definitely be back, since Wok of Flame has now moved into #1 position of Chinese restaurants here in Davis... well bring our own white pepper...lol.
