My first time here for lunch. A two-item combo plate is reasonably priced. I ordered sashimi with teriyaki salmon. The three slices of sashimi were salmon, tuna and yellowtail. Yellowtail had a dallop of ground ginger/garlic which greatly enhanced the taste. I found it amazing that the chef paid attention to such small portion of a lunch. My friend who ordered Hamachi Kama said the portion was the largest she ever seen in the area. It was delicious, too.

My family and I love this place! They always make consistent fresh and tasty rolls! My favorite is the Alaskan roll with spicy Mayo on top! They servers always so nice and make sure we have everything we need. This place also has good quality in their Togo orders as well. 👍

We had lunch here a few days ago. It was outstanding. I had a bento Box with Tempera, pork Katsu and Gyoza. My wife had a 680 Sushi Roll. This place is just off the 680 freeway. The service was excellent and the servers were young and very personable. And I have to tell you that the price was right.

A little hard to find as its in the inside corner of the complex. We ordered the Hot Night roll and ramen (I forgot the name but its #3 in the menu) with grilled pork belly. Theyre OK but the pork is soft and succulent. Made me wonder how they made it 😊. Service was A+

Nice little Japanese restaurant situated in a small plaza between Bollinger and Crow Canyon. The service was nice and friendly. The place seems crowded everytime. I always get the Sashimi Combo and some rolls. They look fresh and didnt have any issues eating raw fish. There are other options like dinner combos, ramen and udon. Will come back again.

Wide variety of menu items. Reasonable prices and quick and good service. Lots of patrons, kinda noisy, probably means I should go earlier next time. There will be a next time. Large portions, two of our group could not eat all of their food, time for take home boxes. Two televisions were on, kinda much, at least they were muted.

This rating is mostly due to the poor service that we had. Our experience during lunch today was not a good one. Came on what can be considered a routinely busy Tuesday around 1pm. Ordered a cooked bento box and 2 sushi and sashimi lunches. Bento box was served in a reasonable amount of time. Sashimi lunches were not served until 20 minutes after the bento box arrived. Waitress did not even bother to check on the missing orders until I asked about them. The restaurant is not big, less than 15 tables. Most people ordered cooked items so the sushi chef was not backed up. They didnt even start to slice the fish until I asked about the order. There was no acknowledgement of the delay. I did not ask for compensation, though it would have gone a long way to relieve some of my irritation had they even bothered to offer. I would have been more understanding if they bothered to be apologetic for the delay or just admitting that they missed the order.

This is the best sushi I have ever had. I regularly try sushi restaurants as I travel for work. This spot has the most fresh sushi I have ever had. My preference is always nigiri over rolls, and normally I’m going with non-cooked options. If you are into raw sushi, I would highly recommend this establishment.

I tried a few Japanese restaurants around the tri-valley area and find Yayumes food quality is consistently good. Freshness of the fish is critical to sushi and Yayumes sushi has never disappointed me. Lunch, dinner, take-out... I tried them all. They always make me a happy customer.

Hands down, probably the best sushi/ nigiri I have had in Northern California in a LONG time. I was completely blown away by the excellent service, variety of fish/ food on the menu, & the flavor & freshness of every item I bought/ ate. While it’s not cheap, for those that are fans of authentic, traditional Japanese sushi, Yayume is absolutely the best option for miles around.Now on to the meal that won my heart (& tastebuds!):I don’t eat raw salmon, so I had some Scottish Salmon belly which was seared ($12). Rich & buttery, a quick hit with the torch really makes this cut “shine” (literally & figuratively, heh)The Otoro/ Fatty Tuna was reasonably priced for the Bay ($15), so I got 2 orders, 1 raw & 1 seared. Both were excellent. Finely marbled tuna belly, cut properly, so it really melts in your mouth. Top quality fish here at Yayume, unlike some folks’ definition of Otoro at other restaurants, where it’s just big strands of fish fat, cut improperly, so you wind up gnawing on the chewy bits. Yayume’s Otoro could not have been more tender & tasty.Uni was pricey at $22, but it was very fresh & tasty, so I didn’t mind. A nice touch was that Yayume also has fresh grated wasabi (both in oil, & without…I opted for without). For higher quality fish (like Otoro, Uni, Ikura) I MUCH prefer it over the glow-in-the-dark green dehydrated stuff at most other places.Ikura here was a bit expensive at $8.50 an order. I had hoped, based on the quality of their other items, that I might receive Zuke ikura (House marinated, more sweet & less salty/ oily), but alas the Ikura was just average. Better than many places, but nothing as impressive as the rest of my meal.Ankimo/ monkfish liver app was on the expensive side, but it was fresh, with good flavor & had tasty ponzu sauce on top (I got an extra side of the ponzu, as I rarely have enough for my ankimo) ($14)I got a spicy tuna hand roll (to which I added avocado…I don’t understand when places don’t put BOTH avo & cukes on their spicy tuna rolls). It was okay, but I prefer my spicy tuna w/ Japanese Mayo, & this was just maguro & chili, which had more “heat” than flavor, in my opinion.Unagi was tender, fresh & warm, with just the right amount of sweet bbq sauce ($7)My entire meal was $114 w/ tax (before tip), but I ordered a lot, & most of it was the most expensive items on the menu (sucks that I crave the pricey stuff, heh). Regardless, I consider this money well spent, as I walked away completely happy & satisfied. I will most DEFINITELY be back!

This used to be my go to place when i was craving for japanese food. The udon was good and plenty of choices for rolls, i loved the philadelphia roll, lion king roll, rainbow roll, and the baked one. This last time about a month ago the quality of the food seemed to not be at par with the previous experience i have had with them. Is it the chef? Change of suppliers? Prices are better than most in the area.

We were here on Friday, it was a huge disappointment! Crazy wait times… told to pick up in 15/20 minutes but turn out to be another hour wait. When an error was made due to new staff Cindy made it a point to explain to me very nicely and professionally, a rare combination these days, that due to the effects of Covid-19 there have been staff transitions to ensure the best quality and safety were provided to the staff and customers. Yayume Sushi and Cindy, the Yayume Manager, takes every measure to ensure every customer is happy with their meal. I ordered online and it was ready within 15 minutes. I ordered a 2 entree bento box with salmon teriyaki and mixed tempura. It came with a bowl miss soup. My daughter ordered some California roll, and a some albacore nigiri. The salmon was cooked just right, not too dry, a bit moist which is good. Mixed tempura was good! Price point was affordable, portion size was generous. This is our second time to order from them within a week. Well be back for sure!

Nigiri was good. Rolls were tasty, but almost all of them were not rolled well and fell apart. Ramen broth was not as deeply flavored as it should be, but pork and other additions were delicious. Server was careless in delivering dishes and spilled soy sauce, then didnt bring a replacement napkin when asked. Food was good enough to go back, but well avoid that server if we can.

My heel broke while I was walking in and the staff and customers were laughing, staring and whispering about me. i left crying and they kept laughing. I am so disapointed in this restaurant. The lack of compassion and care they have for there customers is horrific. After what happend i don’t ever wanna see this place again. There food is also trash, it tastes old. This is the go to spot if you are craving Japanese food. The sashimi is fresh and creative rolls. I also like the shrimp and vegetable tempura and Udon soups. Ordering ahead is recommended to avoid waiting outside for food to be prepared.

Terrible experience. I ordered three rolls (dragon, rainbow, and 49er) for delivery via GrubHub on Monday at 12:10 PM. The order confirmation guaranteed delivery between 12:55 and 1:15 at the latest. When the food didnt arrive by 1:20, I messaged GrubHub, who was unable to reach the driver, and guaranteed delivery by 1:56. 1:56 came and went with no delivery. It finally arrived at 2:00 PM, 110 MINUTES AFTER THE FOOD HAD BEEN ORDERED.I dont know who dropped the ball, GrubHub or Yayume, but this is unacceptable business practice. I would never recommend this place to anyone.The sushi arrived at room temperature, not cold. Who knows how long the food was unrefrigerated. It came with one set of chopsticks (three rolls should have three sets of chopsticks) and two packets of soy sauce, which was insufficient for the number of people it was going to feed.Additionally, the sushi was mediocre at best. Reminded me of sushi you might buy at Safeway. Two of the rolls were supposed to contain California rolls on the inside, but neither did. California rolls contain crab, avocado, and cucumber. The rolls I received were predominantly filled with mayonnaise (or some other creamy filler) with some crab and avocado. No cucumber. Just mouthfuls of mayo. The third roll was supposed to be filled with crabmeat, but it was identical mayo mixture.Go to Amakara.
