A nice neighborhood restaurant serving very tasty Japanese food in an easygoing casual space. The portion sizes are very generous. A hidden gem.

This little place is charming! I loved their decor and the fact that the anime “Spirted Away” was playing on the TV! The staff was super friendly and attentive. Food came out promptly after ordering and the fish on the poke salad and chirashi don was nice and fresh. My friend appreciates good sashimi wherever we go and she gave Yojimbo a thumbs up. The chicken on the donburi was surprisingly flavorful and grilled, not simply boiled chicken and egg. I wish they had some togarashi but they had none to offer. I also ordered 3 basic rolls to go for a friend (Cali, spicy tuna and unagi) and those were enthusiastically scarfed down! We paid $110 including tip for the entire meal which I think was standard for our order. Next time I’m in the area I’ll try other specialty rolls on the menu!

The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Miso Ramen, Spicy Ramen, Edamame, and side of White Rice. The miso ramen was the best ramen I have had in a really long time. Definitely recommend trying! They said that the large is really large so we got the regular sized bowl of ramen. Huge portion of edamame. We had to take the rest home. The service was great. Everyone in there is really nice and helpful. If you love anime they had lots of art from studio Ghibli and other movies/show. They were even playing Spirited Away on the tv.

My go-to sushi spot when I am near Alameda. Been here several times over the years and I have loved everything I ordered. Service is always quick and the food and fish is fresh. Great value and quality!

Such a tiny place. Love all the anime stuff. Good tasted good. Spicy Curry was actually spicy. Lots of California rolls topped with different things. Baked salmon one is great.Came in for restaurant week and it was 3 tools for $25. Good deal but all were California roll based and we didnt want that many. Expected cooler menu options for restaurant week.

The food here is so good, and it was quiet when we went, so the service was nice and fast. Fish all tasted fresh and delicious, served at the perfect temperature. Decent miso soup. Super impressed with the generous portion and beautiful presentation of the chirashi 😍 we also got a great dragon roll, so good! There were also cute anime art, figures, etc. displayed around the restaurant for a nice cohesive theme. Very welcoming atmosphere and great food.

Update:Yojimbo has opened a new branch just a few steps away from its original. 2139 Santa Clara Ave, former space of American Oak.Check it out!!!****************£We certainly love going to this place! Yojimbo is one of our favorite ramen and Japanese food restaurants around the Bay Area! We have been coming here for several years and have invited friends. All of the people we invited to eat here were very impressed and others kept coming back, some drove from Vallejo and Fremont. Our frequent visits was stopped due to the pandemic, in that two years of pause my wife managed to be nearby and got me some ramen to-go but as best as it was packaged, we know that ramen is best eaten right away after serving. Well, we visited last week and we came back yesterday to make up for lost time! hahaThe ramen is still as good as we remembered it, the only change is that it now comes in two sizes, regular and large. It used to be just one size which was LARGE and you needed to use a big soup spoon. We used to have more than enough for two meals. On both recent visits, we ordered the regular size which is still a generous portion. The broth is delicious, noodles are nice, the chasu is delicious also. People who come here regularly will agree that they are consistent with the taste and good quality of the ramen.Wait, theres more! For non-ramen lovers, there is also quite good selections of japanese dishes and as others have complimented, it is fresh! I rarely order sushi here because I usually come for ramen, but when I do, it has always been fresh! There are also a good selection of appetizers to enjoy. I tried the pork bun last week and it was very good! I wanted to try the spicy tuna bun yesterday, but it was out. Oh well, more reasons for my wife and I to go back next week .. hehe.Lastly, as shown on my photos, Yojimbo has some very cool Japanese anime inspired art work throughout the place drawn by the owner himself! There are also some action figures on display for fans of Japanese anime. I wanted to ask the owner if he will be able to make one for me one day as I do love his Samurai warriors art works.Go, go, go to this place! You have to try it at least once and you will not regret it! Oh - really last thing! At some point they opened up more space on the side of the building but it was closed and we were told that it has been closed for quite some time BUT they are planning to open a bigger location not too far from its current location. From what we were told they do not have plans to close the current location, I do hope that they dont because it does have its own charm.

Yojimbo is my favorite sushi and ramen restaurant in Alameda. They go above and beyond everything time I go to either locations. I love how cozy and their park street location is, it’s great for dates. They always hit the mark on their array of sushi rolls, nigiri, and ramen. Today I went for their ramen and their broth always hits the spot with its rich flavors and great spices. I also like the crispness of their tempura, seriously no dipping sauce needed. The Nigiri was a great appetizer with its expertly cut fish and mouthwatering rice. If you are in the area make sure you try one of their locations, you won’t regret it!

Its definitely my kind of sushi place! Love the Anime/Manga decor. The food was delicious and made very quickly.I was greeted with a nice bowl of Miso soup on the house. Before my order arrived. Which I think is a nice touch. Love Miso Soup! The space is very small. However, I think its just right. There are some wider tables in the back. The only thing I would suggest for the owners is to place some mirrors in strategic places. That way, it feels more roomy.Overall good spot
