Are you craving for some authentic Korean style Jjajangmyeon and Jjambbong? Then look no further, this place has got it down. Amazing food (they def use MSG like theyre supposed to), great portions, and cheap! I ordered Jjam-jjamyeon which is like the half and half deal, and it was bomb. Definitely coming back if Im in Oakland anytime soon.

This no-frills, Chinese-Korean, handmade noodle house has been serving the East Bay Korean community for decades. And the taste truly owns up to its namesake.The gan zazang (간짜장) ranks among the best globally, with a light smokiness that makes the sauce all the more satisfying. The jjamppong (짬뽕) broth, while full in flavor, wasn’t my favorite. The kkan-pung shrimp (깐풍새우) perfectly crispy, yet saucy, but the shrimp itself could have been bigger, given the price point.

Authentic spot for Korean noodles (jaja myeon) . The other options are great. I Especially their Tang su yuk which we had with sweet and sour sauce. Didnt have any banchan for some reason though.

One of the most unique places I’ve eaten. Chinese-Korean hybrid food. I always get the gan zazang (dry noodles) and gan pong gi (fried chicken)Prices are about as reasonable as it gets for Oakland. I hope they never close.

Great Korean Chinese restaurant with large portion and fair price. Came here with my girlfriend. The food that we ordered tastes really good. The za zang noodle really satisfies me when I took a huge bite.

Ganzazang and tangsueyuk were really good. Decent price and portion was great. I think we finally found our go to place for korean-chinese cuisine! It was nice they have half zazang and half zambbong option too. Spicy zazang myun was okay tho. Can’t wait to try other dishes next time.

Their tangsuyeok and jjamppong is my favorite of Oakload/SF area. The jjamppong has a delicious depth in flavor, I think the extra sear on the seafood does that. Good serving size.Tangsuyeok is also tasty without being too dry out oily.Ganzazang is pretty good for a JJM style dish.

If you are in Oakland you have to check this place out! Its in the Temescal neighborhood so there is ample parking near by. The serving staff is prompt and friendly. They always greet customers with a smile and are helpful with suggestions. The menu is extensive but not expensive. I always order the Bimbimbop. They bring all sorts od wonderfulness to add. They have cocktails too!

Once again another quality food establishment that delivers on a consistent basis. Ive been going here for 7 years and never have been disappointed. Now mind you there are other restaurants in close proximity that you can experience. But Chef Yu and his crew just do what they do and the food is spectacular. If youre in the area of 51st and telegraph and have develop a taste for quality Chinese food, baby just go there and give it a try, you dont even have to tell them that I sent you!! My first impression of this Korean Chinese restaurant was not clean. I had ordered several dishes to go. Noodles dishes were average, and some of the seafood in the noodle soup didnt taste fresh. I wish they used fresher oil to fry Tang-su-yuk(sweet and sour pork) because the batter was dark with spots.

The to-go portion sizes are VERY VERY small, not to mention super expensive. I paid almost $8 for a super small size of hot and sour soup. Complete rip-off. Wont come back for a to-go order.

Our South Korean friend took us here for some truly authentic Korean dishes (her opinion) even though the place is marketed as Chinese and some dishes are familiar from many Mandarin restaurant menus. But the dishes we ordered (Zazang myun, Tang sue yuk, and Zampong) were fantastic and nothing like we had enjoyed before! Delicious! We will be back.

Authentic 짜장면 (black bean noodle). The black bean sauce has some sweetness to it and the noodles are hand pulled. Honestly nothing better than some hand pulled noodles. Their 짬뽕 is also good. If you go here, I do recommend getting the 깐풍기 (spicy fried chicken) or at least the 탕수육 (Tangsuyuk - crispy fried pork).

Best jjajangmyeon in the bay! They hand make their noodles and you can tell - perfect texture and consistency. Their jjangmyeon sauce is so flavorful without being too salty. The tangsuyuk is excellent as well.

Ive been going to yuyu since 2004 when they had a smaller shop down the street. Best jjajangmyun in Cali (maybe entire US), no contest.I unfortunately cant have it anymore since I turned vegetarian but their japchae bap is meat-free and delicious. :)

Hidden amongst the many restaurants on Telegraph Ave. Don’t let the set up or the look from the outside fool you. This place a gem. I come here to get my jajangmyeon fix and have never been disappointed . Also, the food portion is huge so order with caution.

I dont know what has changed but ever since the virus broke out and you can do takeout only, their jajjang myeun has been beyond great. It has the flavor of the famous spots back in Korea. Whatever they are doing differently it is working !

So glad to have good Chinese food in Temescal. Their new location is closer to everything so I can always get my fix of the best Gan Jajang noodles or pork dumplings. Their fresh noodles are always just right, not too chewy or a mouthful of dough. Other highlights: chicken udon soup, dry fried string beans, and fried rice. To top all the tastiness, the owner is such a nice person; that alone makes me want to support her family-owned and operated business. Her husband is the chef, her daughter grew up working there too.

Some might call it Shabby Chic, but I think it was kind of shabby. That was not why I was there. I came to eat, and I was not disappointed. We had the Moon and Udon noodles, with seafood, and chicken. Plenty of meat. The noodles were house made.

Let begin with a preface that I probably have been going here for 10 years. Walked in for lunch around 11:30. There were 3 tables occupied, table of 6 and 2 tables of 2. My wife and son ordered the zazang bop. I ordered the gan zazang. Took half an hour to get our food. Our waitress who I assume is the owner was the most unpleasant person who need to be in a different line of work, cause dealing with the public is not her forte. My wife asked for to go boxes and i hadnt eaten any of my food and my wife had majority of her meal leftover and she brings us the smallest size boxes. Of course we had to ask for bigger ones and with all her charm and personality finally brought those to us. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN HERE AGAIN. Im sure the owner could care less with the constant revolving door of Korean students at Cal and all, but go down the street to Koryo and get a bowl of noodles.

This is a Chinese restaurant with a Korean atmosphere. The soybean paste was just as delicious as the best restaurants in Korea, and it was well-fried and dry. Jjambbong is said to be a little salty but delicious.The real soup here is sweet and sour pork. It was incomparably delicious to anything Ive had in Korea. I think its because the pork is different and the sauce is the old sweet and sour sauce.The female servers are friendly and there are a lot of Koreans coming and going, so I think its a very good restaurant. I definitely plan to visit again!

I submitted it and ate it. Ganjjajang was delicious... …The fried rice and red pepper japchae were not very good. The fried rice was a bit bland. The red pepper japchae was slightly soggy, probably because the noodles were overcooked, and maybe because they didnt drain the water enough, but when I got home (I live 5-10 minutes away), it became sticky like rice cake... … Even though it was still warm. The seasoning was weak and there was almost no spicy taste typical of red pepper japchae.The jjamppong soup served on the side of fried rice had no seafood flavor at all and only tasted like salty red pepper powder... . After thinking about Jjamppong Jjajang, I thought it was a good idea to order Jjamppong Jjajang. (The Jjamppong soup on the menu may be different, but if this is the only soup served on the side, it would be better not to provide a side. I threw it all away.)Overall Review: I think its worth going to eat Jajangmyeon.It seemed a little hectic because there were so many people... . Im not sure if its as unfriendly as you said in other reviews.

I called to place an order, but there was no answer. Im dialing again and the call is busy. It keeps doing this about one or four times. I can hear the kitchen... If theyre busy and cant take orders, they say they cant take orders because theyre busy... I dont know if its a gutsy business or what, but I drove up to the front and looked, and they were doing good business. Its now April 11th at 12:47. Im not going to order it because it makes me feel bad. take care. Its a pity that this region is not competitive.
