MY THAI
46520 Washington St #3, La Quinta, CA 92253, United States
11-12-2020 Sat night, my wifes Bday. My wife and I Sat on the bar side, it was less busy than the main side. The bartender (also our waiter) was so rude to me, I thought I was on some joke TV special. (Candid camera came to mind). When he came to take our order, I started by saying, We would like to have.... I always order for the both of us because Thai food is usually served family style, for the whole table. He immediately turned his back to me and asked my wife for her order. I couldnt believe it! It was so bizarre and deliberately rude to me. So my wife did all the ordering. We ordered chic satay, tom kha kai pot, green Thai curry and Pad Thai. He treated satay and pad thai like it was mine, treated curry like my wifes. . He never smiled once. He served the Pad Thai, then said Curry isnt ready. Shouldnt the main dishes be served together? 15min later, curry never came. We got hungry waiting and almost finished the noodles. He finally showed and said our order was given to someone else! I said to just give us the check. This JOKER came back and placed the bill in front of my wife, didnt even look at me! Are you freaking kidding me! Not sure we will be back . Not if this clown is working.

Misaki Sushi & Grill

We were from out of town and decided to try this place based on reviews. It was Friday evening, so of course we expected some waiting. They said 20-30 minutes, so, no problem! But while we waited they seated at least a whole page of customers after us. 50 minutes or more later? They supposedly had only one place for a party of 6 waiting for a party of 2 to leave, those persons “had paid their bill.”Honestly they could have asked us if we wanted to split our group or they could have worked something ( it's a big place with many tables) (we asked several times even suggesting we squeeze into a booth) finally they asked if we wanted to squeeze into the table they were holding all this time for us! (They we're hoping to expand our seating when another couple left next to us) It turned out there was plenty of room and that couple didn't leave until just before we were done! If they had been more on top of things, we wouldn't have had to wait more than about 15 minutes.About the food: My family is Japanese American so we eat a lot of Japanese food. For the most part, The food was fairly good, pretty typical with Bento boxes and sushi. They also have udon and some other dishes. We ordered a variety of items and the food was tasty and well prepared, a little pricey though. The rolls were fairly large and they had a huge variety: clearly their forte. One of our group had to ask three times for her beverage to be served and came when we were almost done. They were clearly under-staffed for the busy time and a better method for juggling larger groups and seating would have been appreciated. Had they handled our seating situation better and not charged my friend for her very late beverage, I would have given them another star.

A nice area of La Quinta to visit for a little shopping (not many retail shops here) or a nice meal. There are plenty of restaurants for lunch or dinner. It's considered “Old” La Quinta, but when we arrived we were a little disappointed to learn that it was only built about 20 years ago and was just designed to look old. There is street parking available, and adjacent free parking lots for times when it gets a little busier.I admit, we expected a little more and were a little disappointed. We thought that we might spend several hours here, but ended up only spending a little more than an hour to see everything.

Basil Thai
50855 Washington St, La Quinta, CA 92253, United States
Finally, an authentic Thai restaurant in La Quinta! We saw news about this opening up recently and we live nearby - finally got to eat here on the weekend. But Im not here to talk about competitors. Im here to talk about a fabulous new restaurant in LQ - in the cove/old town area. Basil Thai! It sits between a Chinese and Mexican restaurant in a small space. I think it has a total of 4 or 5 booths and 4 bar stools to sit in. Framed photograph/posters are mounted along the walls depicting scenes from Thailand. Ive never been, but my partner had and loved the atmosphere. Fixtures are new.Business was super slow and the place had one server and at least one person cooking, so we were surprised at how fast the food came out after ordering. We order the basic Pad Thai and Panang Curry with chicken. We also had a cup of Tom Ka Kai. Later the server brought out some sauces (one home made) to add, after my partner asked for it. The home made one was HOT but very yummy. Actually, ALL the dishes were delicious and my partners quest for the taste of Thailand as she had it in Chang Mai years ago, was fulfilled. Both of us were really happy we ate here.We ordered from the lunch menu which is cheaper than the regular menu. (Lunch average cost was $13.99 a dish) Portion size is about what we expected. Not too big, but not too small either. We still ended up being stuffed. Rice will do that to you.I love the location and hope they become busy enough to stay there. We plan to visit at least once a month as a treat to ourselves and slowly eat our way through the entire menu.

Okura Robata Grill & Sushi Bar
78480 CA-111, La Quinta, CA 92253, United States
A wonderful use of the space. The decor is modern and upscale with interesting details. Would be nicer if the entrance was cleaned a little more regularly since my mom pointed out some cigarette butts messily stubbed out in the plants. The food was great! Theres the expected sushi, sashimi, and grilled robata fare, but they also have a variety of starters and entrees that could be described more like fusion, since theyre catering to a clientele that is not entirely used to Asian food (heard a guy at the next table asking if they had fried rice, which they accommodated)My only complaint is that there are very few vegetarian options. I found 4 on the menu, and thankfully the 3 I ordered were all tasty. However, it does make me a bit sad to watch others devour amazing looking rolls while I munch on my plain one. As the Japanese say, you eat first with your eyes.We had some cocktails with our meal and they were good. Strong enough without knocking you out. Also, we got there early, just after they opened at 4, and although it wasnt packed, the restaurant did have a steady stream of guests coming in. I know there was a tournament nearby, but i was surprised that there were already several tables seated even 15 mins after opening.Service was also great. There is staff for each level of the meal: ordering, serving, water, bussing, all different people. This meant food came out at a good pace and my water glass was never empty (and I tried!) I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and asked for a candle with the ice cream (yelp had an offer) and we were pleased not just because they gave us a bit extra, but because they did *not* bring out a billion people to sing to us.Last, cost was significant. Not including tip, our meal cost me just around $50 a head. To be fair, I was treating my parents and encouraged getting whatever they wanted, but a single specialty roll was about $20. I would say the food and service is worth the cost, however, so maybe come with the treat-yo-self mindset.Overall a great dinner with delicious food and good service that put smiles on our faces. If youre in the valley and have an occasion to celebrate or just want a really nice meal out, consider stopping by Okura!
