CP Restaurant & Lounge
2800 West Coast Hwy, Newport Beach, CA 92663, United States
Dealing with this restaurant was the worst experience of my life last night. We put on a fundraiser for Foster kids there for 120 people. The owner Jack started yelling at us before the event started, changing what was agreed upon and continued to be unprofessional and yelling all night at us. They didnt let our patrons park in the parking lot! They had encouraged us to have live music but then last night said they couldnt sing or play the music through the microphone! All of the performers had called in advance to check on the equipment too! They didnt provide the food we had agreed upon and paid for. Many people did not like the food either. They ran out of plates so served paper plates. The wine glasses they served were plastic and dirty! They said they would donate a $100 gift card and did not come through. A few days before the event they said we had $3,000 bar minimum and the night of said other people not in our event didnt count towards it. The night of said we had to have a 2 drink minimum per person also. They forced our people to wear wristbands that night to keep it separate. They said they had enough tables for our raffles but in the end we had to rent tables to bring in. They were completely unreasonable to deal with and did not keep their word. Both Cindy and Jack changed things the day of and were mean.I personally do not ever want to step in that place again! Ive never been so insulted and mistreated by a business owner.

Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors

When PS first opened it was great it actually had Asians preparing Chinese food, now it is prepared Hispanically. The interesting thing is that the food all tastes exactly the same wherever you get it or who ever prepares it, just like a bowl of Ramen! PS was bought out by a big corporation several years ago, since then they 1- upped their prices, 2- reduced the portion sizes, 3- stopped sending promotions to loyal customers and 4- decided that Customer Service went from the Customer to them along with the Customers money. I used to go there 3 times a week, every week. We laughed about needing a PS fix. Now I dont go there at all. Try Shanghai Pine Gardens on Balboa Island. Bigger portions, lower prices and traditional Chinese food.

I ordered my usual, Vegetarian Fried Rice at this Pick Up Stix to go. I also asked the gentleman to make sure they use a clean wok. There was no one else at the restaurant. However, it took him a good five plus minutes to share the order with the cook (I think the cook was somewhere in the back.) And another ten minutes for the preparation. I was just happy that they made fresh Veggie Fried Rice that I really enjoyed. The place is clean and comfortable! I will be stopping by at this restaurant in the future.

Siam Station

FABULOUS SERVICE ! My wife and I are big fans of Siam Station so another visit to this new location was on the cards. We arrived just before 2pm and parked right in front. Straight after we headed inside we met Emma the manager and Ellie one of the chefs. WE WERE STARVIN ! Emma brought us menus and we asked for cold waters. We kicked things off with a Potsticker Appetizer ( love em ) and a Thai Iced Tea to share. MAINS ! My wife had to have the Pad Woon Sen ( glass noodles, stir fried with garlic sauce, egg and mixed vegetables ) with Shrimp ( $3 ) and I ordered Kua Kai ( flat rice noodles, stir fried with egg, bean sprouts, green onions ) with Crispy Pork ( ($3 ). Our Potsticker Appetizer hit the table at lightning speed followed quickly by our Thai Iced Tea to share....nicely divided into 2 large plastic cups. And it all tasted great. Soon after our main meals arrived...huge beautiful looking serves. I had never tried Kua Kai before...very soft flat noodle. Sadly the Crispy Pork add on was chewy pork belly...not my thing ! On the other hand my wife was over the moon enjoying her glass noodles and huge shrimp. HARD TO BEAT !

Sweetfin Newport Beach

I would come more often if they offered higher quality fish quality. The salmon they offer is the cheaper salmon and the tuna is basic tuna. No High end blue fin tuna and salmon here. Really hard these days to find a restaurant that serves high quality sushi grade poke bowls. If standards for fish quality are so high then this place is ok. If they offered higher quality sushi grade fish I would be here more often for sure. Until then I will stick oToro.I went back a couple of more times to try my luck the second and third time with the fish but the fish quality is the same. When I looked at the tuna in particular and then the Salmon I could not place the order. Fish quality seemed like an equivalent of a Subway chain food quality. If someone doesn't have high fish quality standards for tuna, salmon, and other sushi fishes. Other toppings are average but fish quality needs an upgrade.

We went in for the mangonada that was pictured on the window, but was told the person who makes it wasnt there so we ordered a few boba drinks and a mango shake. Everything was very good, but pricey. My daughter wasnt a fan of the boba in her drink so that was a waste, but everything else was very delicious. The bathroom wasnt operable so that was inconvenient to have to walk to the end of the pier to use the restroom. Gave it a four star because it was so pricey and service was slow. It took a while to get our order and we were the only ones in there.

Last night we had an amazing dinner at Eddie Vs! Heres the run down...The vibe is elegant, yet exciting... the waiters are dressed in a way that makes you feel like youre fancy, but not stuffy. The lighting and decor are perfect for date night or birthday dinners! Our Waiter was Doug... he gave us an overview of the menu, told us his favorites and described the dishes really well. He came to check on us, but didnt bombard us which was appreciated. Our first set of drinks:The Hope Diamond and Perfect Patron MargaritaBoth were very good! The Hope Diamond wasnt too sweet and was oh so pretty! The margarita was quite good.. we usually try everyones margaritas to compare to our favorite (Cha Chas) and this one came pretty close!Appetizers:Kung Pao Calamari and the Jumbo Lump Crab CakeMan oh man! These were delicious! We could have just ordered these and been done... We had to force ourselves to stop eating so that we could save room for dinner. 100% recommend these! The calamari was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was so tasty! Not spicy, but there was a nice kick to it, it was served on a bed of crunchy noodles, which were also good when you ate them with the veggies... it was so good! The crab cake... WOW! Weve tried our fair share of crab cakes, and let me tell you... this was by far, the BEST! It wasnt compressed like others we have tried... this was perfectly cooked and had delightful crab lumps... SOOO GOOOOOD!!!2nd set of drinks:Smoked Old Fashioned and the 24 KaratThe old fashioned was smoked table side... I got a video but didnt get the first part, I wasnt quick enough lol it was tasty! We liked the smokey flavor! My 24 Karat was pretty good too, I liked it more than the hope diamond, it had more layers of flavor.Entrees:Bone in Rib Eye and Three Georges Bank ScallopsSide (family style) Crispy Brussels SproutsThe Ribeye was absolutely amazing... cooked to perfection... juicy and a perfect sear! SO GOOD!! Since we were already getting full, Matt ate about 1/2 of it, so I will be putting the rest in his breakfast for the week (check out my profile for my YouTube channel to see how I use our date night left overs and videos from our date nights!) My scallops were very good... the sear was just right and 6 was just right, I wouldnt have been able to eat more than that! Now for the brussels sprouts... those were disappointing. The flavor was good, but because of the sauce, the sprouts werent crispy, so it was the only fail for us.Dessert:Banana FosterThe experience of the was the best part! I did get that on video since I was ready for it :) There is a strong banana flavor, and it was good, it was just really heavy! The flame added a nice crust with a smokey flavor, which I enjoyed, I would recommend it, but only if you are ok with a heavy, dense dessert. Thanks to Doug for his great service and to Eddie Vs for a lovely date night!

Excellent service and a very nice vibe at this upscale Asian American fusion restaurant. My favorite dish is the same bass. They are usually very busy for dinner.

Overall: 3.6/5 (dine in)This is a small storefront thats street facing so it might be hard to find parking right in front. I was surprised when I got there because I thought it was a sit down restaurant but the set up is really for take out/delivery. They have bars & stools along the side of the walls but at max, the restaurant can only seat 8-10 people. Customer service is good here though.Pork Belly Bun Slider ($5.95): Better than the grilled pork slider but was just okay.Grilled Pork Bun Slider ($5.75): The grilled pork was very dry.For both sliders, they gave a lot of carrots which I liked but they were lacking all the Vietnamese flavors. The buns were soft though.420 Downtowner Special ($10.25): We were both so disappointed when we tried this. The presentation was nice but the taste was mid. The green colored rice and the shredded chicken were bland. The pork on top was a bit less dry than the one in the bun and was the only thing with flavor.Nam Nam Wings (5 Wings For $7.95): The wings were the best item of the night. They were crispy and tasty.

Bello by Sandro Nardone

Had super high expectation for Farm based on pictures, reviews, and menu. If I could I would give 3 and a half, with the potential for a 4+ as we get further along the opening of businesses during the lockdown.COVID reopening issues:They were not offering any of their craft cocktails, and after reading all of the great reviews about them one of our guests (the birthday girl) was looking forward to trying one. But they unfortunately dont offer them right now, even though there is a full bar open. We were told that they are in the middle of revamping all of their specialty cocktail menu, so they neither offered the ones they did before, or any new ones. They said you could just order a normal cocktail and they would make it. It just seems weird that while your creating a new cocktail menu that you would not offer the current ones in the meantime. Also, they only had diet coke and sprite and no other sodas.Could just be a COVID issue in terms of different bartenders or massive time and cost of prepping the bar for specialty cocktails. I expect this to not be an issue moving forward and that the new menu will be fantastic.Food:The food was good. Octopus (pulpo) was out of this world good, as advertised in many other reviews. We got ours cooked a bit more crispy. Which works out well because its served over some delicious sauteed greens with a sauce and that is wet, so the dish is not too dry with a bit more of a cook on the octopus. Gorgonzola salad was also super good, they do not skimp in the cheese. Dare I say maybe too much gorgonzola? Nah, I would never! Pizzas I thought were extremely wet and soggy and were OK taste wise. I like a thin crispy crust though, and the rest of our table seemed to really like them. The pasta was good, very al dente, but at a place like this I expected it to be better than good. Based on reviews and the modern Italian theme I just had crazy high expectations for the pasta especially. Flavors were great though so if I go again I will ask them to cook it a little more, although....A warning, we were told that the kitchen chefs will not make any changes to anything on the menu. We tried to get gorgonzola on the side when we ordered the salad so that my wife could share some of my salad and because she does not like blue cheese, but were told that they would not do that for us.Service + Overall:The service was great, everyone was very good to us and generally had a warm and inviting vibe. We were checked on by multiple people and when we had some issues with a wine we ordered they quickly and very willingly took care of it and made everyone happy. Our waiter was great and very funny.I expect, as restaurants all struggle with reopening, that Farm can and will iron out issues. I appreciated everyone there and we had a great time at dinner.
