Mix Stix Asian Fusion
751 Front St, Soledad, CA 93960, United States
Food was phenomenal (as always), but the waitress was quite stoic and rude. No thank you's, no friendly demeanor, and overall it felt like walking on egg shells and like she'd rather be anywhere than there. I've worked at a restaurant before, and I was appalled. Possibly the worst service I've ever had, which rare since ALL of the waitresses before this time have been friendly and polite. I don't expect a waitress to be treating me like royalty and bouncing up and down with extreme energy, but at the very minimum a polite attitude and basic manners are to be expected.

A lot of Chinese restaraunts have dishes that are too salty, too bland, or a mix of both. We stopped by on our way to san antonio lake and we loved it, ordered a ton of different plates with zero complaints against any of the dishes. It was so good we ended up going there again 2 days later for our drive back from camping back to Salinas.Everything was seasoned just right and nothing was over/under cooked, and its one of the few places that serves battered dishes (like orange chicken) thats still crispy and actually tastes like its named. Imo better than every Chinese restaurant in Salinas. My current top 3 are Golden China in Watsonville, Fortune Garden in Soledad, and Lees Garden in Marina. Hopefully their quality lasts.Staff were super nice too. Came with a group of 13, 7 being kids, and they accomodated us with a very welcome to our home, time to eat vibe you get in most Asian households. They gave a bunch of colorful twirly straws to the kids and turned on a movie for them on the large tv above which helped. If Im omw south this will definitely be a go to stop for food.
Mom Can Cook Thai Kitchen
18358 Soledad Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91387, United States
When Taste Meets Quality everything turns out better! It's been a minute since I've tried some great tasting Thai Food. And it's here in SCV! This place is a hidden gem, so don't let the old school location make you feel uneasy.Just go, order and Enjoy! ?First off, after reviewing some Google Reviews this Thai restaurant was the highest rated out of the few here in Santa Clarita. However I never tried it till today, and I'm glad I made the right choice! Parking is good, and this welcoming atmosphere of a place is something to be at with a date, friends or even your solo getaway! The inside was clean, and felt like a Authentic Thai Restaurant with modern flavor. The staff are friendly, and I really wished I sat and ate. But opted for Food to go on a late Thursday night. At first the menu was priced higher than other Thai Restaurants so I wasn't sure if I was getting a bargain. But upon eating dinner at home with their Signature “The Rich and Famous” Pad Thai, Crispy Tasty Rainbow Trout, and Homemade Style Wings, I knew right that second why this Gem is Called “Mom Can Cook Thai Kitchen!”Bite after bite, the priced matched the Taste! That much that I kept eating more than I can handle! Lol. Definitely a pleaser, and coming back for more!Sadly another location has been a great go to place that I've earned a great friendship with might not get my business as much anymore. Because this New Finding is a New Favorite for me!Thank you guys!
Life Thai Fusion
22911 Soledad Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91350, United States
This place has delicious food and theyre very careful to prepare your food correctly if you are vegan. The manager informed me that she has special training for her kitchen staff on vegan food preparation. Everything Ive tried so far is great. My favorites are the pad see ewe (vegan) with faux beef, soy prik king fish (spice level 3), and the soy orange chicken. My kids love the soy chicken satay and soy orange chicken. Also the fried mushroom appetizer is delicious and crispy, it kinda reminded me of getting fried calamari except the mushroom melts in your mouth!I wasnt very fond of the pad thai but that might just be because pad thai isnt usually my go to.The only negative I would say is sometimes the service is sub par. Theres one waitress in particular who wears her hair in a very high bun atop her head who is difficult to communicate with. Im here now and had to ask her 4 times what vegetables come in the yellow curry before I got a clear answer. She comes off a bit rude but that might be due to a language barrier. This is the second time Ive had her as my server and both times Ive been unhappy.Fortunately for life thai fusion, the food is good enough to keep me coming back in spite of her (customer service training would hurt though).
China Wok
20655 Soledad Canyon Rd #38, Santa Clarita, CA 91351, United States
China Wok is the worst Chinese restaurant Ive ever been. Atmosphere is like 70s with mo music. There is only one server. Food is not that great and expensive, serving is very little for its price. It was a bad experience for me, I ordered a pan fried noodle and I specifically gave the number and yet they gave me the wrong one and changed me $17.95 instead of $11.95. The owner apologized but didnt recognize the mistake the server made. I will never go back here.
The Windmill Restaurant
1167 Front St, Soledad, CA 93960, United States
The food was average. I was in a group of 6. Two of us were visiting family from out of town. Naturally, we were engaged in each others conversation and took us a while to order. However, the waitress seemed pretty annoyed with us. After we ordered, it took a while for our food to come. My dad ordered salmon and was the last plate to be brought out. His salmon was so cold. He ordered a hot coffee and was served old coffee. We asked my dad not to eat his food and wed let our server know. My dad is 73 and decided he didnt want to wait. We mentioned the cold salmon waitress when she came around and asked how everything was. Her response you shouldve said something soonerWhat she doesnt know is that I observed the Kitchen staff struggle to stay organized. At one point she was asking for certain dishes/sides they did not make. I also observed her interaction and demeanor with other diners. The waitress cashes out at table side. I find out unfair and wrong for servers to hand you the credit card terminal preset with a tip and not give diners the privacy to adjust based on diners experience and quality of service. She made us feel like we irritated the S*** out of her for coming in to dine.I know most places are understaffed right now but that does not have to result in poor customer service.
Wanya Thai Restaurant
16507 Soledad Canyon Rd, Canyon Country, CA 91387, United States
I have been a regular since Paul and family took over the location. This small location has changed owners over the past 20 years Ive been old enough to remember eating in general. Wanya Thai is truly my favorite restaurant and not just because of how great the staff is. The food is incredible. True authentic Thai food when you want it and Americanized dishes to please everyone.I have brought my whole family and all of my friends to this establishment. They are fast friendly and remember their customers. I have ordered nearly everything off of the menu and it has only changed slightly over the past 8 or so years since Ive been ordering. It may sound like an exaggeration and most people dont believe me, but Ive ordered the spicy chicken(now the spicy chili on the new menu) over 300 times. When I walk in the doors they call out to the cooks to fire it up for me upon seeing me. When I call in a delivery or pick up order they hear my voice and ask if Im going to order a spicy chicken. About a month ago i was feeling really sick and I ordered a Tom Ka Gai(coconut chicken soup),cucumber salad and steamed dumplings. The woman taking my delivery order was new and I could tell. I finished my order and hung up. A minute later I got a call from the owner Paul and he wanted to make sure my order was correct because I didnt order the Spicy Chicken. I told him I wasnt feeling well and the soup would suffice. He understood and hung up after making sure again. Then 15 minutes later(really fast delivery every time by the way) Paul personally showed up with my order with a complimentary Thai Iced Tea and asked about my grandmother and family. Amazing customer service to say the least.Paul and family go each day to the farmers market to get their vegetables fresh and you can taste it. Im ranting here but lets just say it doesnt get much better than Wanya Thai. I sound like a commercial or something but they are like family to me and I couldnt imagine eating Thai food without them. Ive eaten at many different Thai restaurants in scv and socal and the flavor profile just doesnt compare. If you managed to read this entire review and dont go to wanya to try at least one dish than shame on you haha.In conclusion, amazing food, amazing service dining in, to-go, fast delivery, family friendly staff, and farm fresh and clean ingredients that never change. If I ever move from Santa Clarita I am going to beg Paul for a demonstration and the recipe for the spicy chicken haha.
Island Pacific Seafood Market
19387 Soledad Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91351, United States
This is the largest Asian market in the SCV, with a focus on Philippine products. It currently has 2 eateries inside (although it had as many as 6 pre-COVID) in addition to its market. There is also a Goldilocks bakery inside.Crab Mentality is a play on words with the mindset to bring down those who have climbed the ladder of success (crabs will try to pull down those who have climbed up in an attempt to pull themselves up). My family went there a few times before COVID; the food is great but it can get expensive so we dont eat there too often. They will cook up fresh seafood (mainly shrimp and crab) that you eat at your table over butcher/wax paper (because it can get messy fast). They also offer lobster, fish and shellfish. The other eatery is a point point joint -- you point to what you want (with either your finger or your lips, if youre so inclined... of course verbal requests are also fine). We come here at least once a week, as its affordable and ready to eat. They offer the common variety of Filipino dishes but specialize with grilled foods. And this is one of the few places that offer goat (kambing) if youre into it. You can sometimes see them grilling the food right at the front as you wait in line. The market has a wide assortment of Asian vegetables and products that you wont find in the mainstay supermarkets like Ralphs or Vons. So youll find more varieties of rice, certain meat products that you wont anywhere else. The prices are consistent with other Filipino markets in the area - and unfortunately there arent many others unless you choose to make the trip deeper into LA County. Aside from Island Pacific, the only other chain is Seafood City, which is nowhere close to SCV.Goldilocks is a major bakery chain in the Philippines. Currently when I am able to go to the market (evenings), its usually closed (while the rest of the market is open). Maybe its due to COVID? The market offers a few baked goods from local vendors but they dont offer the cakes, pies, or other sweets that Goldilocks does. My familys favorite is the egg pie.If youre Filipino, you probably already know about the place, especially if youre cooking Filipino. But if youre not, but still interested in tasting Filipino food or sampling some products from the Philippines here in the Santa Clarita Valley, this is the place to go!
Golden Wok Restaurant
16668 Soledad Canyon Rd, Canyon Country, CA 91387, United States
My favorite Chinese restaurant in Santa Clarita. Golden Wok Restaurant is a small family-owned restaurant with great food and service.Located in an unassuming strip mall with plenty of free parking in the heart of Santa Clarita delivery. Takeout, delivery and dine-in options are available. The barbeque pork is lean, tender and marinated to perfection. Five stars. The noodles are firm, flavorful and fresh. Five stars. My friend loves the walnut shrimp combo plate. Five stars. The fried rice features fluffy eggs, firm peas, wok-tossed crispy rice and an umami flavor that would even make Ucle Roger proud. Five stars. My favorite dish here is the combination wonton soup. This soup is filled with handmade meaty dumplings, char sui, tender white meat chicken, and plump shrimp. The savory broth is my favorite part of the soup here and if the recipe is not a well guarded family secret, it should be! (Five million stars.)Google maps, friends and fellow world travelers, lets learn to say hello in a few different languages together. I find that saying hello in another country or language has earned me the best smile in return. I got a big smile from the lovely owner for saying hello in Mandarin: Nee how! (你好 Nĩ hão)The family at Golden Wok gave me a complimentary lesson in Mandarin language to go with my homemade wonton soup when I was feeling under the weather and the combination made me feel better.I cannot say enough good things about this humble restaurant. Definitely give it a try!Ill be back. Many thanks to Golden Wok for the great food and service! Xièxie!!
