Edit-Darren is amazing and always has great customer service and is a credit to the company!! Yashua rung me up and he also had good customer service. This store is leapyears from the horrible service when covid started, Im glad they got rid of those other employees!!! I also added a star because they finally added a vegetarian option but they still cook in same wok/pans. My family love loves this place! It always smells amazing in here. I gave 4 stars because of how much my family comes here. I love how something fresh is always just coming out the wok. Its very freshly prepared. The location is always clean and the utensil section is never a mess. Ive never once had a bad reception from any of the employees. They are usually very outgoing and friendly. Now,heres where the 1star gets taken away. For a Chinese food place, where as, usually Chinese food can be safe for vegetarians, but not here. Everything is cooked with chicken stock. The vegetables are cooked in it,the rice is cooked in it, everything,so I have to suffer smelling this AMAZING smelling food and never have a taste(sad face). But definitely a place Ill bring the family to, especially on nights I dont feel like cooking. Dont forget to keep your receipt and do the survey and get an extra entree for free,it only takes a minute for some extra bomb food, for free.

In this regard I can only share about my breakfast experience. The egg breakfast that I had was sorely lacking. Of all the restaurants that have these types of breakfasts this one is at the bottom. Even the pancakes that my friend got were of very low quality and taste. Now I know they have been in that location for better than 30 years. I just hope that their Mexican and Chinese cuisine is better. As for the breakfast, I rate it a thumbs down ?. Oh, one other item. No handicap parking.

Food was fine. The lady at the counter is very rude. Snapped at me get away from the counter. Even though we were both wearing masks. After we got our order. We sat at a table outside of their stand and started eating. The same lady shouts out the window you cant eat here go away. To which I had no response before we could pack up our 13 dollar combo, her son was standing over us. I told him please tell your mother she should learn how to speak to her customers. It was rude. He immediately started cursing at me saying no your rude. My male co-worker, An ex marine immediately started yelling back at him. As I walked back to the car. I wanted no part of the scene. The two men were shouting back and forth at one another . The son started video taping my friend as he walked back to my car. Then I who was not involved at all was also taped. Luckily the old man came to get his son so we drove off. Luckily it didnt escalate into anything physical. I think its a sign of the times. Maybe they have experienced discrimination as Asian Americans before which is why it escalated so quickly to a shouting match. Either way it made me sad I wasted money patronizing a mom and pop shop instead of an In and out burger only to be talked to like a dog after combined, spending 30 on a couple burgers and soggy fries. This should never be the new normal. Bad customer service is never acceptable.

I had to drive an hour and a few minutes west to Altadena to pick up some artwork I bought online and having never been there before, the first thing I did was Google “places to eat in Altadena.” I'm not big on American food, with one exception: diners. I love diners. And I LOVE fish and chips. When I saw this place I knew I had to check it out. I love Foxes too, so the sign immediately got my attention. It's a tiny little place. I guess it's been there forever. And it looks like it's been there forever. Retro furniture, the retro star wallpaper, and the red and black checkered floors were such a welcome sight to my vintage loving soul. The service was friendly. The customers were diverse. All ages, shapes, sizes and colors. All good things. They had a menu board with a variety of different pies but they were all sold out. We went at like 1pm on a Tuesday though so for a place that closes at 2, we showed up too late I guess. And that's not a complaint. That just tells me that they're worth showing up earlier for. I got the fish and chips. I get fish and chips everywhere I go that has it more or less and I don't make this statement lightly- this was the best I've ever had. The breading was crisp but soft at the same time, like a funnel cake texture almost. The fries were perfect. They tasted like the fresh cut ones I'd get at the fair every fall growing up. The grilled lemon was a nice touch. My husband had breakfast, French toast, eggs, bacon, and the house made sausage. He loved it. There wasn't anything left on either of our plates. So how good is this place? Let me put it this way…it took me longer to drive here one way than it did to get my food and eat it, and I work night shift where I usually sleep on my days off till 5-6 pm, and this place closes at 2pm…and I fully intend to make this a regular destination. Five stars, no question! If you love diners, check it out. It wasn't my reason for coming to Altadena today, but it will be the reason I return. We are new to California and this is definitely going to be one of our spots. Great prices and big portions. Love it!
