Kotobuki Restaurant

Old school japanese restaurant feel, high quality fish and excellent, light tempura. Not enough places like this around anymore.
Soba Izakaya MINAMI
24391 Avenida De La Carlota Suite A, Laguna Hills, CA 92653, United States
I am hesitant to write this review because I dont want this place to get busier. This is an excellent Japanese restaurant in Laguna Hills. It is located on the first floor of the new large condo development. We needed this place, since my town is sorely lacking in good options. The only good Japanese restaurant closed down about a year or two ago. The menu is large and extensive, the dishes very Japanese and high quality. The service is slow though, they are probably working out the kinks.
Maki-Yaki Express
24401 Ridge Rte Dr # A102, Laguna Hills, CA 92653, United States
Go to Maki-yaki Express if you are feeling like sushi and dont want the fancy restaurant...saying that reminds me of Carls Jrs pitch about their six dollar burgers without the restaurant cost. This place is not fancy its a small restaurant in Laguna Hills near Seven-Eleven.When you first walk in, you will be greeted by a very friendly Korean lady. There are a lot pictures of all the various types of rolls so you dont need to know what the roll is called just know what it looks like. I ordered the udon combo with tempura shrimp and crunch roll for about 7 dollars. My friend ordered the Spicy Tuna roll. After adding a drink this was about 18 dollars not bad for 2 people. (half the price of Niko Niko. Dont get me started on that place -1 star) If you order in you will eat on actually Japanese bowls and plates. If you order out you will get everything packed in separate packages, which is nice since every order comes with a small salad and miso soup.If you are looking for the highest quality sushi this is not the place, but if you are looking for above average sushi minus the wait and cost go to MAKI-YAKI! Highly Recommend. Great for take out!
Sushi Ramen House
25260 La Paz Rd # A, Laguna Hills, CA 92653, United States
Not that good. Rice is low quality flavorless. The salmon cuts did not look very fatty and almost seemed oily. The lunch specials are a joke and do not taste as good as the sushi from the grocery store. The prepare the sushi in the back with Latin chefs, doesnt feel like an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant.
Kin Sushi

We have been coming here for about a year. We like the food very much but this place has major problems which are becoming mission critical and we will not eat here again. First of all, the place has always been very cold and we, even summertime, have always worn sweatshirts to eat there. This time, it is winter and very cold out. inside it was cold and got colder by the minute. When we arrived, no one said hello. there were only a few tables and I had to ask to sit down and I asked if I could sit at a table and I received a nod.I sat and waited for my wife who arrived to meet me a few minutes later.I ordered a couple of things and asked it the heat could be turned on. It never wasThe food was good but we had to ask for everything. I should actually say that the sushi and sashimi were good. The miso was horrible. The salad came without dressing. it was a horror show out front with the person who runs the place out front dressed in sweats and treating us like we are a burden. We made it through the entire meal and asked for the check. The worst service I have ever endured. Here is the worst part; between the server and the hostess no one said ONE word to us ever - NEVERWe wont be back and it is a shame.

Back in 2018 I was thinking it would be super cool if there was a bar that was geared towards gamers, a place they could hang out and drink beer and have a good time; when I found this place in early 2021 it was like a dream come true, as it is exactly that. Since then, they expanded the DLC area and have expanded their menu and have a few new beers. I really enjoy live music night. I am one if the regular here, this is where my buddies and I come every Saturday night to hang out. We drink beer and play Yu-Gi-Oh, board games, and Magic the Gathering. The staff are great and super nice, I know most of the people who work here, food is great, love the big selection of beers, and I always enjoy being here.I have a 3 suggestions that could make this place even better, Im talking coolness factor of 101. They should do trials for new beers and menu items to see if people like them, and if there is enough sales, then they add the beer or menu item permanently to the menu. I think you guys should bring back the giant pretzel from Oktoberfest, that was a fan favorite. Also, I think it will be really cool if you guys added chimichangas to the menu.2. I think on Fridays and Saturdays if you could change the business hours to be open until midnight those days, like Dave & Busters, that you guys would get more business. Also I think you guys would get more business if you kept the weekday hours open until 10:00.3. I think you guys could get more business if you had a designated night every week, like say Thursdays as D&D night, or Friday night Magic the Gathering.

I have been living around this area for 16 plus year, but I have never got the feeling that at restaurant waiter could bring me an unhygienic utensils as he argued with us as we appeared there to pick up our food 5 to 7 min before he told us over the phone. We decided to eat there but he refused very harshly stating we are an arrogant customer. There is was a huge gap of communication and understanding. He really gave us very bad look and gave me and my friend an empty box when we ask for paper plates so we can sit outside and eat. He gave us one disposable box and asked to tier apart and use it for both of us. I asked him to charge some money and give us another box so we can eat decently. He argued and went inside unhappy to grab the box, that's where I got the vibes that I never ever got in my whole life from any restaurant that he is going to give us unhygienic box or plates to use. We left the restraint with one box and me and me friend ended up eating in that one box by tearing it apart, which is not a bad thing for us. But having such disrespect and bad vibes from a person who you expect to prepare and give you food is not safe at all. I would never recommend to eat there, as safety and health is first while eating anywhere. Just to clear this is the guy who normally charges your credit card and he refused to share his name.ThanksUmer
Heaven on a Fork
25381 Alicia Pkwy # F, Laguna Hills, CA 92653, United States
Located in a not trafficked location. Staff were friendly, but slow in service. Food was Ok. The rice was not fluffy as Persian rice is famous for. The eggplant dip with kabab on it ( which was weird ) was ok minus the kabob. The on site baked bread was good. Baghali polo was sticky rice like Japanese with hardly any Fava beans and minimum dill weeds. Don’t order ice cream as it was soft ice cream not a “ Persian style “ no Safron and very melted. Prices were much higher than a typical Persian restaurant considering the atmosphere and location. Lots other ethnicity were visiting. The blue granite in the wall is beautiful!!!!!Will not go back.
