Fuji Restaurant
73603 29 Palms Hwy, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277, United States
I don’t normally comment much but I believe I should this time cuz I just had the worst Japanese food experience ever in my life so far. The restaurant smells like traditional supermarket. The cook looks like Japanese(or Korean), but the dishes tastes like Americanized Japanese food. (I don’t even think they have ever tasted real Japanese food.) The carrot’s skin was not pealed off, the bottom of broccoli was dark like they stored for many weeks. The curry was sooo wet like a soup tho at least it tastes like curry. Chicken in overall was okay but it was seasoned way too simply.. the shrimp haha… worst of the worst. Do not ever consider getting tempura shrimp or any shrimp added in there dishes. That is definitely not a tempura shrimp what the heck. The cabbage and bean sprouts were raw. Anyway, we only chose to eat here because there was nothing else to eat around here… so if u can’t find something else too like us, god bless you and expect to be disappointed.

Twentynine Palms Commissary - Defense Commissar...
1025 Del Valle Dr, Twentynine Palms, CA 92278, United States
Decent Commissary selection for the middle of the desert. Generally good fresh fruit and veggies and even meat, and always find some treats when it comes to their special sections like Japanese curry and rice and even German foods. I don't usually find the place too busy, except maybe later evenings on the weekends, or lunch hour during the week there's usually a wait at the fresh deli and sandwich counter. And fresh sushi is fantastic! Thanks to Covid-19, sometimes shelves are empty and delayed being refilled, especially when it comes to eggs, cheese, and water (but we've always managed to find TP at least). The next closest grocery would be Starter Bros and a DG Market. A huge Walmart with groceries and a Vons can be found down the way about 20-30min from base, in Yucca Valley.I also wanted to add that they now offer curbside pickup which started Sept 2021. Real convenient! The only struggle I've faced is when they do a substitute and it's not something I would have chosen, you'll have to go in the physically return items at the customer service window, and most of the time you won't catch it until you're already home and putting everything away. I hope they'll update the system to one day be close to something like WalMart has where you can choose to decline a substitute chosen ahead of time.

Yamahana Sushi
71757 29 Palms Hwy, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277, United States
We got carryout here on our visit to SoCal. Being from a city with a decent food scene, I have to say that the sushi here was mediocre at best. My California roll was not quite as good as I've had even at grocery stores, and my spicy salmon roll was about average. Sadly, we had to go back because they neglected to put a set of chopsticks or soy sauce in my bag. Even with this mess-up, they were very conservative with the soy sauce packets. They don't give you anywhere near enough ginger either. My wife got a ramen bowl here and said it was a bit sweet, but OK.The dining room was small and unlike any sushi place I'd ever been in. They do have Japanese sushi chefs, but the quality of the ingredients was not good. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but this place is incredibly pricey and may not even match up with the quality I get at Trader Joe's (shipped from California to Ohio!) for $7. So really, I can't recommend this place.

29 Palms Plaza
71757 29 Palms Hwy, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277, United States
Almost everything you need all in one location. From the grocery store to the gym to the Japanese restaurant to the nail salon. Theres a smoke shop and dollar store too for the days when your low on your pennies. You might even find God there in the church (which is strange to me that there is a church in a plaza such as this). Id stay away from the fast food joint there though. They were shut down due to a rat infestation awhile back.
