Midori Japanese Cuisine
3440 Sonoma Blvd, Vallejo, CA 94590, United States
Ok, first off, just telling you how awesome and big this was is impossible so the photo is for scale.I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl. Thats the small portion... Let me say that again, pictured is the small portion, and its $5. The large portion items are $7, and I saw one, its easily twice the size. My girlfriend ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken, just as big and very yummy. We also got a Ebi Roll, and a Spicy Tuna Roll, all top shelf items with out question. My only grip is no soda fountain, so we had to get Snapple. But all of that, 2 bowls, 2 rolls, and 2 drinks. $28. I can not tell you how good this food was for the price. On our way out, we decided heck with it, lets get a smoothie. They are like $3.50 for a small, which is the perfect size. I had a banana and my gf had a mango. It tasted like they just crammed a ton of fruit in there. It was heavy like a milk shake, and tasted like heaven. Soo amazing, and I know I will be showing up again when the weather starts to get warm, like it already is. They do have a large version of the smoothies, and I think thy were like $4.50 or so, and the sign says 64oz, but I saw a few people order them, I think the sign lies, they were HUGE!!! Soo worth it.In conclusion:The scary part about this place is how good and cheap it is. Its also right next to the house, just as close as McDs, and basically the same price for a simple meal.
Matsuri Restaurant
480 Redwood St, Vallejo, CA 94590, United States
Ive been to almost every sushi place in Vallejo. Not only was this the best sushi/japanese food I have had in years, but also the best overall meal Ive had in years. Everything tasted perfect. There were three of us and we were trying each others food and sauces in wide-eyed amazement the whole time. I hate to judge on a single experience, but this is my new favorite restaurant. Service was really good, and the food was the best Ive ever had. 10/10
Bay Hibachi Express
295 Mare Island Way, Vallejo, CA 94590, United States
Industry pros just opened this restaurant serving Japanese Hibachi style cuisine. Outdoor dining on the water or indoor tables in a small saloon style atmosphere. Try the chowder that’s only available on the weekends. This spot is delicious!
The Loft Shabu Sushi and Thai
8308 Bennington Ct, Vallejo, CA 94591, United States
Easily the best Thai food in Solano County, and probably the best Pad See Ew in the bay area. Ive tried Thai food in Santana Row, in SF, and all around the bay, but The Loft is definitely a standard above. The Pad See Ew has amazing flavor and is really filling. Portion sizes are GREAT. Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle are also among the best Ive ever had. Tom Yum Soup was good, but nothing extraordinary. Increasing the spice level is really just adding chili pepper flakes, so do be careful when turning it up, as you might inhale more than you taste!Delivery is a great plus!* UPDATE 3/23*IT HURTS ME SO MUCH to crank the review down to 4-star from 5, but Ive been here a few more times since my last review, and I felt like I should update a bit. Now, most things have not changed. Flavor, still amazing. Service, still attentive, Ambience, just as cute as before. But the portion sizes :(The last 2 times I came here, I had to order TWO entrees to get ALMOST as full as I used to be with just one order from before. At first I thought maybe my appetite is getting larger, BUT one time I ordered a pad see ew to-go (which they usually fill their black tray right to the top), and it barely filled their tray halfway! This is not good Loft!I definitely went a few more times to hope that sizes would grow back, but unfortunately not yet. Lets hope the next time I swing by portion sizes are back to the great way they were before!
Surukis
145 Plaza Dr #201, Vallejo, CA 94591, United States
I love coming to Surukis because hello, the location is great. I can get all my shopping done & eat sushi?! IN THE SAME PLAZA. They always have specials going on and the Bento Box one is usually a steal. Plus, if youre lucky, youll walk in when their chicken teriyaki is the special and order some shrimp tempura on the side.I always get their handrolls, edamame or their spicy chicken wings (which arent even spicy). They taste so good. & they have daily specials too during the weekday. Monday is $1.99 handrolls, tuesday is 0.99 spam masubis (I believe), Wednesday (I think) is Chicken Teriyaki bowls, and Thursday is their spicy chicken wings. Although a lot of people give this place a bad rep because customer service a lot of the employees here are high school sophomores-seniors, as their first job. & that is no excuse but the place does get packed & busy and the frustration seems to all go to the FOH employees. I asked once why a couple orders came out faster than others and its because they have one chef working on hot food items & another on the sushi. & if theres one person doing each thing, obviously it makes sense why other foods come out faster than others. & when it gets like that, & the hot foods are done, Ive seen the other chef help the sushi maker out.I wish this place was a little big, I know that the place would fill out eventually as it already does. Call in ahead of time & expect your food to be ready in about 20-30 mins during busy hours, or 15 mins during non-busy hours. Plus, I like that this place allows you to customize your bento, not like other sushi places in the area. & you honestly cannot beat their teriyaki sauce. Ive tried other sushi businesses in Vallejo but this one HANDS down has the best sauce. So believe me, the wait is worth it.

Michael Warring
8300 Bennington Dr, Vallejo, CA 94591, United States
Do I have good reasons for a 1 star review of an acclaimed restaurant? Well, you judge. The restaurant is in a standard retail storefront of a small shopping center. It has no atmosphere at all. If you plan to have a romantic date, this is one of the last places you would want to go. Everyone can hear everyone elses conversation unless you whisper. Its obvious obvious that this place was chosen because the rent is cheap and nothing was done to make it an inviting atmosphere. We reserved by phone and were told the only time open was 6:30pm. From S.F. you can plan on 90 minutes to get there during the dinner hour. It was a long drive and traffic was bad; we arrived 25 minutes late. There were exactly eight other people in the restaurant; it was more than half empty. The fixed tasting menu has four very small courses plus cheese and dessert. We were told that the first course, a salad, had been served and that the chef did not want to prepare it for us now because it would interrupt his concentration. We were also told by Mrs. Warring that there were three seatings in an evening, that each seating had a window of two hours, and if service did not start promptly and follow the schedule, the next service would be disrupted. Although I was upset about not receiving the first course, I sighed and accepted this reasoning. (It was only after the meal ended and I paid that I found out that there were no other seatings this evening and that Mr. and Mrs. Warring were anxious to close the restaurant and get home early.)Still under the illusion that there would be two more services that evening, I ordered a glass of an excellent red and received approximately 3 ounces, if that much. I asked if that was a standard pour and was told yes by Mr. Warrings wife, who was quite coldly and unsmilingly providing the waitress duties. Servers of course range from those who smile and are obviously happy with their work to those who hate their job and see you, the customer, as a problem that is ruining their day. Unfortunately, Mrs. Warring is a perfect example of the latter. Each time she passed by our table the few drops of wine in my glass became a few degrees cooler. The promise of great food, of course, is the main reason that one drives an hour and a half and pays high prices to eat in a shopping center. I cant comment on the first course. But the second course was a small one-inch cube of raw fish with a few bits of something and a 1/4 teaspoon of sauce drizzled over the fish. Perhaps a super-taster with a very dense system of taste buds and a nose for every nuance could appreciate the subtlety of the dish, but it was lost on me. The one bite of fish was excellent. The rest of the dish was all promise and no delivery. The third course was some kind of raw meat cut into five one-inch cubes. Tough and stringy is a perfect description of the quality of the meat. Almost impossible to cut and about five minutes to chew each cube. I suppose this was a strategy to extend the dining time given the miniscule portions. The chef would then have more time to prepare the cheese plate for the patrons. The cheese plate had three local cheeses. Mrs. Warring seemed very proud to announce that one of the cheeses had been aged for six months. Given that the week before in Bologna, Italy, I had tasted a three-cheese plate of Parmigiano aged 21, 24, and 36 years, I was not terribly impressed.Dessert was fine. When I paid, a little before 9pm, I noticed Mr. Warring cleaning and closing the kitchen. Of course, they charged me for all the courses even though they refused to serve the first course. Of course I will not be back. But as a warning to you, there are so many other excellent restaurants in the Bay Area and the wine country, why run the risk of an unpleasant experience, a server who doesnt like serving, a long drive, a high price, and a snob-attitude. Spend your money someplace else where you have a much better chance of having a great time!
168 Market
765 Sereno Dr, Vallejo, CA 94589, United States
Well my experience shopping at 168 market was very nice. I went there once on my bike and the security guard watched my bike for me theyre very nice but didnt really have what I was looking for that day but I went yesterday with my husband 11/21/2023 that was his first time I laughed at him cause he was taller then everybody in there. I bought the rest of my thanksgiving food and let me tell you all the meat and seafood department is on point, clean fresh looking seafood great prices I can do for awhile I was a regular at Walmart but the food just got to high for my pockets. 168 is like a mini seafood city its nice and they got a hot deli as soon as I taste that Ill leave another review. The best part is I only live across the street. Thank you for bringing a different flavor to the neighborhood we needed a little change. But I think they should have like food other than Asian food I only say that cause of the location somebody told me the reason why they only have their type of food is because they only want their people to shop there but I dont think Thats true at all because they wouldnt have put their store right there. I havent been back but I will in do time.??????
My Thai House
3636 Sonoma Blvd, Vallejo, CA 94590, United States
YUMMY! The food was really tasty. Between Korean and Japanese bento. The service was friendly and helpful. THE restaurant is very small. Not many tables. Small and simple menu which I like. Didnt like the to go boxes since we were dine in but not the end of the world. Will definitely go back to try other items.
