First of all, the menu photo is out of date. The price of rendang beef is $15.00, not $13.00.Though the food is DELISH, its getting a bit TOO expensive for myself. I had the Beef Rendang and 2 extra apalam (chips). Just the apalam was $1.50. I could buy the uncooked chips at the local 99 Ranch market for $10 and get about $100 worth of chips. However, the Rendang is somewhat worth the price ($15.00) but for $15.00l, I would think the portion would be larger. Ill come by here again, IF I get the craving for rendang like my mom made when I was young. I almost ordered the iced dessert but I found out that they also increased the price. My lunch....LUNCH...would have cost me $30.00. I expect $30.00 for two people not one person. I decided to get only my lunch and went next door to Nations for some milkshake.Price: B (for the portion you get)Quality: A++Service: A

A Penang style Malaysian restaurant. They provide standard menu and daily specials. I have only been here once so I cannot give complete judgement. I did order three items hok kein mee, mee goreng and nasi lemak with chicken randang. The mee goreng was the best dish out of all them .the hok kein mee was ok. I would give it 3/5. The mee goreng 3.5/5. The chicken randang with the rice and sambal would give a 3.5/5. I feel the chicken randang the gravy could have been reduced more give it a thicker base. Flavor wise it was on the milder side when it comes to aromatics. Put more dishes and aromatics in the base. The owners are very sweet and kind. I did feel like I was in a street side restaurant in Malaysia when I walked in. I think this place needs to be a bit more bold in terms of flavor. The recipes are authentic but they can amplify the same flavors more with a bit more aromatics and herbs. For example the mee goreng use garlic chives instead of spring onions. Garlic chives are more traditional. Satay was not on the menu. I think that should be standard in any Malaysian restaurant as a starter. I think as a weekly special introduce some malaysian fish beef curry or ikkan bakar or crab pepper. I know the owners are Malaysian and they can definitely be a bit more adventurous and bring their soul into their food and set a unique brand for themselves. There was nothing on the menu that stood out to me from other Malaysian restaurants in the bay area. That is why I ask you to use local California sea food and introduce Malaysian style sea food dishes. This place has potential to do much better and I think they can with a bit of risk.

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area. The food is well prepared, I especially like the vegetable mixture that comes with some dishes(lightly sautéed pawns with vegetables in light sauce, and home style tofu). It's has generous amount of broccoli, bokchoy, cabbage, carrots and asparagus in the mix, cut size is right, cooked tender enough yet still remains its crispness. I don't even know how to cook it well like this in my own kitchen…we have came to this place for at least 6 times and have tried different dishes. The food quality has been consistent, which is really important… :) the price is very reasonable, given the food quality, downtown location, parking lot in the back, and of course, something also tickles my fancy, white table linens. Of all things, I haven't mentioned about the service… that's also brought me to write this review today. We always felt being treated nicely and warmly at this place. Today we came for lunch, I asked my husband to order me a Yuxiang pork, and he mistakenly ordered a different dish and we didn't notice that until the dishes came. I was initially surprised, this is not what I ordered… and the waiter quickly apologized and said they will make the dish I wanted. My husband told them that he made the mistake at ordering and we will pay for it. The waiter right away told us not to worry about it. Coming from a hospitality profession, this smooth gesture of always make your customers feel right, is a gold medal. Very nice people work at this restaurant, you can tell. The restaurant is clean, and artfully decorated. It has a nice wine bar and lovely cocktail selections. I can't wait to go back again and try something new! In the meantime, thank you!
