Otop Thai Restaurant
16822 Vermont Ave, Gardena, CA 90247, United States
This was the laziest place I have ever ordered from. I ordered the spicy tom yum and asked if they could add noodles to my soup. They said yes, no problem they would. My boyfriend ordered the chicken pad thai, his plate was a total mess, the noodles were NOT in my soup but instead in a container, hardened together. They didnt even seperate when i finally got them out of the box into my soup. Ew, my soup smelled and tasted like marinara sauce. It was absolutely terrible! I will NEVER eat from here again.

I am saddened to no longer support this restaurant because it was my go-to thai food spot. However, every time I ordered here, the hostess would put my order to-go without asking me. I didnt think anything of it at first, but Ive come to realize that she doesnt want me dining there. Im an average black guy. I order with card, Im polite & dont like confrontation, so Id like to think of myself as an easy customer. Today, I came in at 2:30pm specifically for the $6.99 special they advertise on the door. The lunch special comes with the entreé, side salad, egg roll & rice with a free thai tea (for dine-in only). I placed my order & waited. I got my order but with no thai tea so I asked about it, she said No it doesnt. I pointed to the bold red writing on the menu that says Free Thai Iced Tea for lunch specials. She responded For dine-in only. I told her You never offered me the option to dine-in. She doubled down on it, then I told her Id like to dine-in & she scoffed & rolled her eyes, then said Fine!. I dont like to assume that she was being racist for me being black, but she automatically made my orders to-go every time Ive been there, and she has been anything BUT courteous as a host to me as a customer. I dont raise my voice, I dont make a fuss. I just keep to myself, but apparently my presence is not wanted in this establishment. And so here I am writing this review.P.S.: I dined-in with my to-go plate & they gave me a free glass of thai tea, but I didnt drink it out of fear they tampered with it after I complained to get it. Its a shame I will never support this restaurant ever again, but there are plenty of Thai restaurants in the Torrance area south of here to try.Edit: Also, just to clarify: The lunch special ITSELF is dine-in only, so she made a special exception for my order to be to-go, without asking me. Meaning, she really did not want me to dine in the restaurant for some strange & interesting reason. If you are black, beware of spending your money here.
Pho Ever - Gardena
2228 Rosecrans Ave, Gardena, CA 90249, United States
I have been coming to this place for years with my children and parents and sadly, I must give this restaurant a low review. On Father's Day, my son decided to take me to Pho Ever. We ordered food from a young latina waitress and two beers. My son is thirty years old and I am sixty years old with grey hair. The waitress said to me that she has to see my ID because of restaurant policy. I give her my ID and she stares at it for five seconds and then gives it back. She spends less than a second with my son's ID before she gives it back to him.The food comes and everything is great like it has always been in the past.Having a quiet discussion regarding personal family issues, the waitress suddenly appears at the table and saids “Did you want something?” I said “No, we did not waved you over”The waitress then said “You have been here too long, you can only stay one hour” and then pointed to a paper that is taped to the wall (The 1 hour limit was in tiny print). Granted, we were only there for 30 minutes tops and there were empty tables and the restaurant was not busy.We both quietly got up and paid the bill. After years of coming to the Pho Ever restaurant with various generations of my family, none of us will be coming back. My Fathers Day event was ruined.

WOW I never!!I sooooo wanted to like this place but it was a total bust from the beginning.1. The vegetarian options are AWFUL. I got the Fried Rice with veggies and tofu and the rice wasnt even fried. It was a disturbing yellowish color that didnt resemble any fried rice I ever had, and the veggies were frozen peas and carrots. Something you could make at home on a lazy Wednesday. It was an OK dish. I wouldnt recommend it at all.LESSON: NEVER GET BACK OF THE MENU ITEMS!!!2. The bathroom was filthy. FILTHY. Walked in and a large turd was floating in the toilet. (Had to kick the toilet handle to flush it, didnt wanna touch the handle). It was toilet paper covers all over the floor. It looked like a public restroom in a park -_-LESSON: Dirty Restroom = Dirty Kitchen = Dirty Staff3. The kitchen was FILTHY. I sat near the swinging door and caught a glance of the kitchen and was petrified. Cut up boxes on the floor to absorb water or keep the staff from slipping. The floor was visibly wet. Plus it was food particles all on the floor. It wasnt a great sign. A messy kitchen = food poisoning in some occasions. Luckily I didnt order any meat but I was worried about dookie fingers in my fried rice.LESSON: NEVER EAT WHERE THEIR A DIRTY KITCHEN4. The staff was sooooo confused. They mixed up more than one order. They gave me someone elses Tofu Stir-fry. It was at my table for a good 2 mins before they realized it and before I could figure out it wasnt what I ordered. They took it to the man behind me which i thought was kinda awkward since I was breathing over his food seconds prior. But he got his revenge when they accidently gave his table my FRIED RICE!!LESSON: NEVER LAUGH AT SOMEONES MISFORTUNE, IT CAN EASILY HAPPEN TO YOU TOO!!As a borderline germaphobe there were just one too many strikes about this place. I kept thinking ima get gonorrhea or something messing with this service. I would of appreciated it more if the food was actually good. But it was basic.

Overprice on most of their products. Its nice to know one can be able to go to a near by market to buy products from their international company but shopping at d at mo I is a under statement. Prices are ridiculous but they no we will buy it at some point since people from the Caribbean land such as Nigeria Belize Jamaica or the Filipino island cannot obtain items from our international country. Anyway theyre raking up on our weakness. I for one do not care to go at this store unless i need to get some fish which is very high. My favorite fish is red snapper which is about 9 buck a pound Dat Moi. Grouper is a very nice fish the people from Belize enjoy which is very high per pound. Counch is about 90 buck per box which consists of about 4.5 to 5 pound. Our taste of island food such as yellow yam bammy plaintain chips are over price as a example green banana is price very high. In reg store plaintain is 69 cents to 79 cents per pound but it Dat Moi its about $1.78 per pound so they got left on the shelf by me and Ill get mine some other places. The African is very big on shopping at this international market for fish produce such as cassava leaf palm oil and what so ever they eat. Some of the items are out dated especially the face cream thats over price like dermavae. People from foreign country bleach their skin a lots so dermavae is a good cover up for acne or skin discoloration and toning. Dat Moi know theyre embarking into people lifestyle by a quick get rich scheme. I a good this place and try to go to redondo beach pier or porto call in San Pedro to get my fish which is a lots cheaper or even china town and they central market. Theres local store such as Lewis meat market that carries our homeland products and superior grocer on la Brea or the Belizean market on king & MLK. Being a foreigner is very costly. But me shopping at Dat Mo Ill pass. Theres a lots of option but people are too lazy to do research. Theres Florida and new york to order products and it will arrive in 3 days with priority mail. We cannot make it easy for wanting to eat out type of food from our county. Theyre taking advantage of our means of living. Hope this help some one to see my point. I shop at Sams Club. The mark member coconut oil is $7 98 per jar. I saw it at D at Mo I for $14. 98. This how they profit on poor people. The Belizean coconut oil is over price. We use salad cream which cost about 9 bucks for a small bottle when i can get it cheaper at other places. Its very ridiculous what the international food finding can be over price. Someone need to stand and report such matter and maybe things will change. Have a nice one and stay safe plus do research b4 you shop at Dat Moi
