La Petite Camille
170 El Camino Real, Millbrae, CA 94030, United States
La Petite Camille is a casual Vietnamese restaurant just west of the Millbrae BART station, a short drive on the other side of the 101 Freeway from the Burlingame airport hotel where were staying. Our family of 6 thought that this was the best Vietnamese dinner that weve had, including three cities weve visited in Vietnam, as well as our home town of Toronto (which has a sizeable Vietnamese population). We ordered chicken rice paper rolls, pho, bun, pork chop, lemon grass beef, clams and fried noodles. The rice came in a communal bowl for everyone. The dishes were served relatively quickly, and gradually filled up the table. Each course was carefully prepared, and were obviously handmade with care. The waiter was efficient and friendly. We mostly drank water, and our water pitcher was quickly refilled. The prices are moderate (mostly $9-$13), low for the quality we enjoyed.Theres a parking lot outside, shared with the Chinese restaurant to the south.Im remember this restaurant for the next time were near SFO San Francisco Airport.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I don't know how they got all these good reviews but I will describe my experience here in depth and othersCan judge from there.I came here with my Son on a Monday evening—I had came up to pick my son up from SFSU to come home for the summer (we live in San Diego), so before heading back down, we stopped here because of all the good reviews. We were seated fast, but from there it went downhill fast. My son ordered well done steak and well done brisket pho—he got raw meat instead. I ordered a hot tea—the table across from us had ordered some and I saw that they got it in a tea pot. Mine, however was served in a tall drink glass so since it was glass, it quickly heated up and burned my hand when I even tried to pick up the glass, let alone drink from it. I had to ask for a mug or something with a handle in order to get something appropriate. They finally brought out the tea pot like the other table, but only after I burned myself and asked. My son'sLemonade was 3 sips of lemonade and the restIce. We also saw that our table didn't have hoisin sauce like the other tables did—we had to ask for it TWICE before getting any. When my soup came, the bowl was sitting on old torn order Receipts from the night—basically they sat my bowl of soup on top of their trash and served it to me. I don't know where that would have been appropriate ANYWHERE. I also had to ask for the rice that came with my meal rather than it being served with my meal.Lastly, I noticed that every other table didn't have the same issues as we did and the service to those tables was up to par, despite how we were being treated—-which deeply concerns me. My son and I were the only non-Full Asian or non-white customers there and the service to us was below sub-par.It's really a shame because in San Diego, we frequent Thai and Vietnamese restaurants a LOT and have never experienced a restaurant treating us this way. By the way, we are half Asian, half African American so it was extremely disappointing. So I'm posting this review as a STRONG WORD OF CAUTION TO ANYONE WHO THINKS ABOUT FREQUENTING THIS PLACE ESPECIALLY IF THIS TREATMENT WOULD BE UNSATISFACTORY TO YOU IF IT WAS YOU AND YOUR CHILD.

Had Pho combination, great taste, Vietnamese Sandwich which was better than most Authentic Vietnamese shops, Cafe Vietnamese Style. Restaurant is ran by Chinese but the food is more Authentic than Vietnamese. Service was great as well. Pricing very reasonable for this area really enjoy it.

9 Noodle House

GREAT NOODLE SHOP IN MILBRAE1/6/2023 - In this small restaurant I have found a great tasting authentic Chinese Noodle Soup with the Char Xiu Pork. The soup was light, great tasting and not salty. The egg noodles were particularly chewy. I loved this. The authentic touch came from the char xiu pork. It was not the familiar kind (sort of sweet and red colored) that we can find in most Chinese restaurants especially in SF on Clement or Irving streets. The char xiu pork served here tasted not as strong but as good and it did complement the soup very nicely. The portion was good. The price was average. The service was timely. This small Noodle House deserves my 5 stars for the over all pleasant meal. I got to enjoy a very good noodle soup and in the meantime lend my support for our local small businesses in Milbrae.??

It says Vietnamese cuisine but its more of a seafood restaurant. Good food selection on their menu. Wine list and beverages are also on the menu. All in all, great dining experience. A little pricey though, service is okay.

Cafe Orchid

7/31/2022 update: Cafe Orchid is still awesome and my go-to place for Hong Kong style meals. Off the menu, I got their Hong Kong style tomato beef crispy noodles. This was my first time eating this here. There werent any photos on Yelp for this dish. Amazing flavor with plenty of pieces of beef and tomatoes. As for the beef and vegetables chow fun with gravy, this was great as well. The chef did a good job with the wok flavor. Excellent service. Good job my friends at Cafe Orchid.9/24/2021 update:Cafe Orchid is still an excellent Hong Kong style cafe. There was a constant flow of to-go order pickups and a short line waiting for a table at 7pm on a Friday. It gets busier during brunch time on the weekends. I started my meal with an order of curry fish balls. They are a favorite street food among Hong Kongers. The only thing missing is the bamboo stick used on the streets. The curry sauce here is thick and smelled wonderful. The fish balls were firm with a soft snap. The beef brisket braised noodles are still good. It came with mostly overcooked tendons that were easy to chew. Theres an option to get the thicker egg noodles, but I prefer the thin noodles. It was all washed down with a lemon tea with real lemon. Great job staff at Cafe Orchid. We are lucky they are in Millbrae. I like how the bigger waitress knows all the regular customers.4/22/2021 update. Indoor dining. Tonight I had the beef brisket wonton noodle soup $10.50 and a HK milk tea $3. The beef briskets were more tendons than I would have liked. There were only two small pieces of meat and two big pieces of tendons. It was slowed cook and pretty flavorful. The three wontons were satisfying. It contains shrimp and a hint of sesame oil. Their milk tea tasted almost as good as the ones found in tea cafes in Hong Kong. My bill came to $18 with tax and tip.****Original review below****Indoor dining tonight 3/12/2021. Cafe Orchid 蘭苑 is a Hong Kong style tea cafe 港式茶餐廳. They do a very good job of offering the same style of food found in Hong Kong lunch cafes. We are talking about baked rice/spaghetti, little sandwiches, milk teas, rice dishes and soup based instant noodles/macaroni bowls. We had the cold HK style milk tea $3.60, HK Style milk tea and coffee $3.00, afternoon tea chicken wings $10, curry pork chops spaghetti $10 and baked pork chops over rice $10.50. The restaurant was spaced out for Covid and I felt safe eating indoors. The menu was under a plexiglass or can be scanned via QR code. The food came out fairly quickly and I had no complaints about the chef, food quality, wait staff. Great job Cafe Orchid. My bill was about $43 with tax and tip for two people.
