Bun bo hue tasted like standard beef broth. Didnt have that special kick of flavor that is expected with Bun Bo Hue. The Banh Beo & service was good though. There was a rude customer across room that was watching videos on her phone really loud, which was not enjoyable for us. The owner noticed us looking over at the rude lady, and she politely asked her to turn it down out of courtesy for others, so we really appreciated that.
Bun bo hue was not good as other restaurants. Meat was low quality and the broth had no flavor. I was excited to try this place since they claimed bun bo hue so 1. I was disappointed and not coming back.

Fantastic place, I really enjoy their Bun Bo Hue. Their coffee isn’t half bad either. Their herbs, on point. A work colleague brought me somewhere else to try their Bun Bo Hue but I was disappointed, since this place has always had a special spot in my heart. Now that I live so far away, I find myself dreaming about this place and wish I lived closer. I also have to recommend their Bun Ngheo, the dry clam bun. You have no idea how lucky you are to have this place within your geographical reach. Same family runs it that always has. Order the large portion. I leave nothing behind on the plate whilst eating here.
Long time customer here. The place makes good Hue style food, especially the bun bo hue. My only complaint is the inconsistency of the broth. Some days Ill come during lunch and the soup will either be way too salty or too bland. Most likely attributable to the aging owners so its not really something Id hold against them.
Ordered com tam whichnis $8.50, asked for additional fried egg. Staff didnt update us the price nor were there any price listing for the fried egg. They charged extra $2.00 for an over cooked close to burnt fried egg. I ordered a large bun bo hue and asked bowl to be split between my wife and I. When the bill came they charged a service charge of $2.00 for dividing the bun bo hue. Without even letting me know before hand of the charge. Talk about ripping off your customers. That is just poor management and ownership to not educate your workers about informing your customers.
I have a love/hate relationship with this restaurant. The bun bo hue here is great only if 1) the chili oil is actually spicy and 2) the noodles are not mushy. Ive been here many times and depending on the time of day the noodles can be overcooked and mushy. If you come here when they first open or too late before their closing times, the noodles are mushy 😔. Also some of their batches of chili oil are not spicy so its hit and miss. But if the stars are aligned and their noodles are perfect and the chili oil is spicy the best bun bo hue in Bolsa!
The noodle soup was pretty tasty. We got there before noon so we didnt have to wait to be seated and the food came out fast. I was completely satisfied with the experience.
I have been living in OC for more than 15 years and this is the place that I go for Bun Bo Hue. I have tried different places, but I couldnt compare them to this place. When you walk in, you will see an old man behind the cashier or a girl, which I assume is his daughter. Their price to me still considered cheap. $6.95 for a large bowl. I normally order one large and a regular bowls for two people; I also ask for two dishes of veggies, which they dont charge extra. I love the shredded banana veggie.my 2 cents.One thing you need to know, they close on Thursday.
A good place for some bun bo, which is a Central Vietnamese style noodle soup with beef, pork, and many other ingredients. The soup is not bad, but not the best Ive had, service was typical Vietnamese service, which is not bad, but not extraordinary. They have other Central Vietnamese dishes like mi quang, com hen, banh beo and a few others. They have a good dessert selection. Overall, a decent place to have some Central Vietnamese food.
Ok noodle, but unpleasantly surprised by the heavy dose of MSG. Its as if the taste profile is stagnant in the 80s - heavily salted and MSG-ed like its no tomorrow. The ambience is acceptable, and the place is decently clean with authentic enough food, but its the bland bowl that irked me. Aside from the MSG, the herbs werent used right and didnt leave the right note. A bowl of this price should have carried more finesse, especially in this part of California where the Vietnamese community is strong.Good enough for a pinch, but not exactly recommended if you need your bun bo Hue fix and have time to go somewhere to get it.
Its in the name: Bún bò Huế số 1. Go for their bún bò Huế and nothing else unless you absolutely have to. Place has been open for many years and know what theyre doing. However, they do get really busy and parking is terrible and I believe its cash only but definitely worth it if you want bún bò Huế.
Best Bun Bo Hue in OC! It has little different from having it in Vietnam. Be careful of their chilly paste/sate, it will burn you to ash. I love Bun Bo Hue & when someone says this is a good one, Ill go to try. And mostly get disappointed. Not here!
Typical Viet place. So expect that kind of service. Decent meal. Not too expensive ($7 average ).The bun bo hue (Central Viet nam spicy beef noodle) is a little salty ( broth cooked down all day? ) they give u just enough of the herb, bean sprouts and shredded banana blossom no fresh chillies though. Would love a bigger piece of lime so ask for more if u want more than a eighth of a lime. Service is quick...to the point..no fuss...no extra..just eat fast and go. I prob will eat here again since it is better than other places ..but make sure to ask for ice water or u will get plain luke warm water from the tap ..lol..there are some dessert options too ( traditional sweet bean dessert i.e. che and flan and Sam bo luong)..but after a two hours drive home from work ..I dont want chit chat or anything else ..give me my noodle soup quick ..nothing fancy. Also parking is a little difficult since its in a strange little cubby hole. Pay at the cashier . Also they have other food such as banh canh and rice dishes ..but if you going to go to a place that specializes in beef noodle ..why have other stuff?
Its a good place for Bun Bo after all. I love the broth the most. Service was OK. I hope they appear to be more enthusiastic. Definitely come back for more.
Banh beo us mở longer traditional. Mexico pork rinds is used instead of traditional Vietnamese fried pork skins. Bun Bo hue was not good. Chả hue is like gio, the lower grade pork cake.
Good, authentic bun bo (spicy beef noodle soup) is hard to find. This is one of the best places Ive tried outside of Vietnam.
Bun Bo Hue got plain or maybe I am just getting sick and my taste bud are not working right. But all in all good service good environment. Will come back again.
Good place to have Central Vietnam dishes. Quite authentic. Tip, add hot chili paste to virtually any dishes to feel the real sense of Central VN food.

The vermicelli bowl has a small amount of vermicelli, a few stalks of laksa leaves, the meat has little water, which is bad, but the price is $13.75. To go, put away the chopsticks and spoons. Ive never seen such a bad restaurant.
The beef noodle soup here is super delicious, everyone. The flavor is very rich, not bland like other restaurants. The corned beef is very delicious, for those who like to eat crispy beef tendons, this place is great. The sausages are also delicious but a bit small.

2023-03-20 06:31:12Lets go with the good first, this is very clean and well organized for a Vietnamese restaurant. The waitress was an old lady but she was very friendly and attentive. Sadly, thats it. We tried the Bun Bo Hue which was considered the most popular item here but it was just average. The broth was just OK and not much of lemon grass and the meat was quite overcooked. We also tried My Quang and it was even worse. The taste is NOT My Quang and it was quite bland. They have amber parking spaces and its a handicap friendly facility.

2023-04-13 04:41:40Hands down the BEST bun Bo hue ever. My husband is from Hue and we live in Colorado, we fly here to just eat their bun Bo hue. Our vacation consist of eating here twice a day because it’s literally that good. The broth is high quality along with the tender meat and everything else. Can’t wait to come back soon!
