I hadnt been here in many years but it was just as good as I remember it. I sent on a random weeknight and the place was full of college students, obviously, since its so close to USC. They have a cool reverse happy hour with decently prices items. I ordered a number of their vegan options that were clearly marked and everything was delicious. The servers and staff were very friendly and attentive. I wont wait as long for my next return visit.

Hole on the wall gem! Service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed all of our order especially the spicy tuna rolls which is on their best sellers list as well as their Thai tea… with boba! Yum! Took one to go as well. The spicy garlic edamame was too spicy but we still finished them. No food left behind! Definitely coming back and recommend.

The Diablo Ramen was awesome! For someone who considers Sriracha to be mild, this bowl was hot enough for a kick without being too overwhelming... so your mileage may vary. Highly recommended if youre near USC with all of the specials and Happy Hour deals!

I was so excited to see they had veggie options that weren’t just an avocado roll! Will be coming back the spicy garlic edamame is also really yummy. Thai iced tea has coconut milk option!Bathroom is really cute too! However I do wish maybe the server we had checked in with us a little more! Overall great experience

I probably dont have a very dependable palate when it comes to ramen because Ive truthfully always disliked it lol!! Its always been either too salty or too thick tasting but Ebaes does it for me!! Ebaes Tonkatsu has the perfect balance of salt & pork flavor and the Original is almost like a creamy Tom Yum similar to Tom Kha Gai (just a bit sweeter) which I love so.. Id say try them out!

Dinner was actually really good here. Im vegetarian, and I found they had a nice selection of vegetarian options. The portion sizes are justified for what youre paying for, and the ambiance is great. Highly recommend.

I had a Diablo ramen which was actually not that spicy (I do love spicy) and was really just a poor version of tonkatsu ramen with simple cheap ingredients yet with the same price tag as other MUCH better ramen places in LA (Suehiro, Rakkan Ramen, etc.).The Red Dragon Rolls were absolutely delicious though. From other reviews, it seems this place specializes more in sushi and appetizers like Edamame so keep that in mind.The service was non-existent. Walked in and I had to get the hostess attention then she looks at the dining area and says just sit anywhere. Once seated, no server came around to offer any drinks or take our order. We had to wave one down as he was just chilling in the back.The environment was a mishmash of quaint and tacky. A lot looked cheap and without taste (not everything has to be expensive obviously but its a bit much). The seating was SUPER claustrophobic. If you sit anywhere near the big table, youll have people squeezing through next to you and knocking over the stuff on your table (happened twice).Overall, Ive never cared for reviews and have always had very minimal standards. But man even Shake Shack looks and tastes better with better service.

A fantastic ramen place for a good price. The Original Ebaes Ramen ($14.5) has coconut milk which enticed me. Very flavorful and absolutely tasty. They had a small tomato in the dish which was really weird but it honestly paired well with the coconut milk broth. The chicken didnt have a lot of flavor and that complimented the bowl as every other aspect did.The USC roll was also very well done. A pretty big roll. The cream cheese adds a good creaminess and texture. However I think the sushi rolls are overpriced but the quality is there.

The Thai tea and tonkotsu ramen here cannot be beat. I love the atmosphere, dinner with friends is always a treat at this fantastic hidden gem. Service is always kind and I love coming back to revisit my favorite menu items. Definitely recommend!

Rolls were good. Recommend the Korean beef rice bowl and Pad Sie Eiw were really good and decent portions for this type of establishment. Vegan options available for your vegan buddies. Atmosphere is that of a quaint higher class dive bar. Nice place to chill. Thai Tea is a must.

I really liked this place. It was very small inside and comfortable. The decor was interesting and unique. We tried several items on the menu that were delicious and affordable. The ramen was sweet and I loved it. The sweatiness was interesting mixed with a little spicy taste. The sushi was good too along with the cheese cake and tea.

How did anyone find this place? I honestly work about 5mins away from this place and pass by it everyday and had no idea it even existed but the sushi here is really good and at really good price! Glad my coworker found this and I assure you I will be stopping by here much more in the near future! Plus the girl at the front was super friendly and laughed at my bad joke.. that’s always a perk when you visit a restaurant lol

I tried this ramen place because it was near USC, but I regretted it. The ramen was terrible, had no flavor, and the protein was primarily fat. Next time I will drive to Silverlake Ramen on 10/10 .

Heavenly pork ramen. A rich pork broth with garlic oil and scallions, two beautiful 1/4 thick slices of tender pork, perfectly done noodles and a garnish of pickled julienned ginger.This seems to be primarily a bar/dinner spot. No windows or a glass door and dim lighting. I was a bit apprehensive to go here for lunch, but I trusted the ratings and Google maps reviews and I was rewarded.

Great place for Ramen in LA small but comfortable seating. Perfect on a cold day, hot soup and heated atmosphere. Pictured is the Spicey version of the Tonoka ramen (I think I spelled it right). The price is a slight bit higher than other places in the area but the quality and taste is worth it. Happy Hour starts a 2pm. They have beer also on their menu.

Great place I order food in this quarantine, we usually go to kura but with it been close I tried this place and let me tell you, I loved it great fresh sushi, they didnt forget nothing in my order and definitely I will be ordering more, you can trust this sushi is fresh and delicious, I did over order but it was for my boyfriend birthday, and his favorite is the Philadelphia roll and it was so delicious 🤤 super recommended this place.

My boyfriend and I accidentally stumbled onto this cute little place, very hungry and pleasantly surprised. We split the crispy rice, snow dragon roll and the seared salmon roll and the portions were big enough to fill us up. It was a mix of college students and their parents during happy hour (not the best happy hour prices) and busy but not crowded enough to disturb the service, even though there was only one server, who was also bussing tables. The food was delicious and well be back.

Great place for sushi. I didnt know i had such a place so close to me. My friend had told me about it and i was surprised. The restaurant is nice inside, it has that compact/cozy feeling Japanese restaurants tend to have.It feels like a hole in the wall place when you look at the entrance, you might miss it if you dont look closely.The only reason I dont give them 5 stars is because I wish they had eel rolls, that is important to me when it comes to sushi restaurants.

Food is not bad, but nothing to rave about. Very simple meals. We had a few sushi rolls and the veggie bowl. Veggie bowl didnt come with any sauce. Looked like frozen vegetables over brown rice.... Dishes could be improved. Service was slow. Staff seemed like they didnt want to be there.

My first time was very good the service, food and atmosphere, it wasnt busy but the second visit was bad the service was taking for ever they didnt serve the food at once, the appetizers were brought last, but one thing that I disliked is that the server was charging me 20 percent tip for a party of 4 afrerI told her she was whispering something to her coworker looked at us and laughed that was something that made me uncomfortable and upset because they werent professional.

This place is good, but not great. I ordered the spicy noodle soup with beef. I liked the atmosphere but it was a bit stuffy and narrow. The tables are way too close to one another and some are feet away from the entrance of the establishment. I also ordered the Thai tea and I believe they have free refills. Overall I was satisfied with the meal I ate and Ill try it again soon.

I came to Ebaes on Friday night with my friends because we wanted to try out something new. They really do get lots of customers and I will be sure to make a reservation the next time. Its been a while since Ive been here and I really like the new additions to the menu. I would recommend the fried squid, it goes great with the dipping sauce. Happy hour is great because the price is right. The service is a bit questionable or I might of cough them off guard, I will have to give them a few more tries to make a correct assessment of it. Maybe its due to COVID restrictions but I wasnt impressed considering the hype. I got their Original ramen and it was too milky and sweet, tasted like chai tea and noodles. Again, this may be due to the current restrictions as a good ramen needs time to soak in the flavors. I will return again to try a different style ramen but the Original wasnt for me. First time here and ordered the Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen, Crunchy Shrimp Rolls and the Edamame. I really liked the Crispy Shrimp with a good portion of crabmeat and shrimp tempura. Wasnt a really big fan of the Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen due to the not fully cook noodles. It pretty spicy for someone who loves spicy food I give this a 8 out of 10 of the Spice level. The Edamame, well you cant o wrong with them. I liked that they were warmed up which made it better.

The staff are petty and cant take orders if their life depended on it. If they dont like you they will make your food extra spicy (when it isnt supposed to be) or extra salty.This used to be my favorite place to eat, now it is trash because of the staff.

This place is a University Park treasure! The food is really good and the in person customer service is good.But I order here nearly weekly and the amount of trouble I have had with the internet presence and remote customer service is mind boggling. Some weeks its flawless, other weeks I have no idea what changed that it became difficult.Things to know:1. You cant place pick up orders over the phone, you must do it online.2. They offer a number of ways to pick up/order delivery, but some of the apps will randomly cancel your order (or the restaurant will randomly cancel your order). Post mates seems to be the safest way to order.3. (This was an issue a couple of months back, maybe its fixed now). They offer two different cuisines, and you have to go to a different website to order the other cuisine even though the food is offered at the same physical location, cooked by the same literal people, and picked up at the same physical location from the same customer service because...it is still only one restaurant so you should just offer the full menu on one website (The pineapple fried rice is not worth the trouble it takes to order).4. Over half of the phone numbers online (websites, google, social media etc) dont work, dont have working voicemails.5. The food has different price points per different apps. So uh, be thrifty?Update: Today I placed an order at 6:48 pm, only to have it canceled at 6:49 pm. No explanation given, couldnt reach the store through a valid phone number. Ordered the exact same thing at 7:30 pm, and it went through. Restaurant did not cancel the order it turns out, Chownow did. So avoid using Chownow.

Came here today 6/15/2022 . Party of 7 and honestly was having a good time. Well that was up until I orders a side of chicken karage. I sat facing the kitchen with a clear view of the kitchen and where they place the food . I saw my side come out, my sever was facing the other way ( might have been on his phone, Im not really sure ) anyway the side sat there for about 10 minutes whil I stared at him wondering when my server would realize that my order was ready, well in that time another server came by, moved the plate almost out of site but not before reaching in with his bare fingers, grabbing a piece or two for himself and putting it back. So I thought to myself...ofcoarse thats not for me right, I mean it couldnt. Maybe thats a side they prepared for themselves. But no! a few moments later, my server realizes my side is there . Grabs it and brings it to me. I almost fell out of my seat, I quietly told the server what happened. Asked for a manager but there wasnt any here, I asked for the number to the restaurant and was told to find it on yelp. You guys can take it from here, this is by far my most detailed and honest review ever.

Love the fact that they have $5 ramen on the first of each month! You have to pay in cash to get this though. But theres also a Check-in deal that you can claim on Yelp! (Free iced tea)Their parking lot is very small because they share it with the other neighboring shops and its tight parking.Wait times can be a bit long depending on when you go. But you can leave your phone number and theyll call you when its your turn to be seated. Last time I went the waiter forgot I ordered sweet potato fries.The food is good! It was my first time there, and I didnt know theres a small lot in the back, BUT it was packed and found street parking a block away (read the street signs, some was permit only). It gets very busy and several people got turned away or were put on a waiting list. I found a Groupon which included two full-size bowls and two 4-piece rolls. I tried the Original Ebaes Ramen and my friend tried the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (very spicy). The service was a little slow (they were busy) and I dont particularly like ramen, but it was delicious. The atmosphere is cheery with drawings/paintings all over the walls. Its a fun little spot, and Ill be back to try their awesome happy hour.

I usually come here the 1st of the month, theyve got $5 ramen. My usual is the Ebaes chicken ramen and it is so good! They werent rude or anything that would make me frown on this cool spot. The Ambiance is the only thing saving us from a one-star review. Their Sushi is okay and their drink menu was pricey but decent. Their original Ramen is disgusting. The coconut milk Brock used to be Savory and flavorful but is now sour and devoid of anything resembling flavor. There is some pure spice without positive taste and the tomatoes are purposeless. The mushrooms or undercooked, at least I hope or they werent attempted to be seasoned. The chicken was Bland and randomly cut or torn into pieces, no two pieces being the same size. The noodles were overly chewy and clumped together as if for dear life. Still nothing was worse than their egg. Ice cold at its core powdery around that and less seasoning than mayo on white bread. This is my go to shop when looking to get my Asian food cravings! They have all sorts of menu items ranging from Japanese to Korean fusion. Appetizers are abundant and plentiful and their ramen choices are all very creative.The interior is long and narrow, but they do a good job with the space they have. The murals are very cute and the decor is also really fun.The ebae ramen has a unique flavor and is more like a Thai or Singaporean curry. It reminded me of Laksa and was a bit too spicy for me. The tan tan ramen was very similar to dan dan noodle and also had a nice kick to it. I asked for less spicy oil and they happily obliged! The Tonkotsu tastes like traditional Japanese pork broth ramen. They didn’t change the flavors or added their own twist, so if you’re looking for regular ramen, it’s definitely the way to go!I’ve had their other entrees and appetizers as well and found them to be enjoyable. They also have happy hour for those who are looking to get a nice buzz in!Will definitely come back and try more items!

Came here for a late night New Years Day dinner and I left full but unsatisfied. The food was not awful but nothing hit the spot unfortunately.Decor is beautiful, and is very USC/fusion appropriate. Tradition meets new world cool. Seems like a great drinks spot. Theres some wood-tavern feels, tall counters, and traditional tables. The ceilings are highlighted by paper lanterns decopaged with cool clippings. The servers wear fedoras and all black.The food, however, left something to be desired. We went to try the ramen, and were sad to find out it was only served Monday - Wednesday. Then we opted for the fries (seasoned fries, which generally are not my jam, but were okay), k-town chicken (korean style fried chicken wings, which were peculiarly sweet and served over more fries), spicy tuna crispy rice (rice was too oily and soft), yuzu yellow tail (sashimi was nice but the ponzu was over-sweetened again, and you lost the yuzu flavor), and the seared salmon roll (4 cut roll pieces, but this was the best dish of the night, and trust them it is spicy). The thai iced tea is no longer free with a yelp checkin, and was overly creamy so you didnt get that cool thai iced tea flavor coming through. All the food was beautifully served, just the flavors were each a little off. Great flash, work on the substance a little.Service was friendly, but I wouldve appreciated being told we ordered too much food for 2 asian girls, and also that the chicken wings were served over fries already so our extra order of fries was unnecessary.Those 5 dishes left us out $60 (including tax and tip) and feeling full but unsatisfied.

This was my first time eating in at Ebaes and I was extremely disappointed by their service. Although the food was good- I had the Hawaiian fried rice with tofu instead of chicken and a spicy yellowtail hand roll that was a little too spicy- the service made this meal hard to bear.We were immediately seated so I expected good things, but was disappointed when the waitress ignored us throughout the entire meal and took 20 minutes to give us the check and another 20 to take our cards. The restaurant wasnt even full, so theres no reason why they should have been so preoccupied. Next time Ill be sure to order take-out since the food is just as good and I dont have to deal with the terrible service!Also, random tip: the bathroom is covered with photos of Channing Tatum and Zac Efron. Went for lunch at Ebaes Union. Asked for Pad thai from the manue which mentioned shrimps and chicken. There were hardly any shrimps to be seen. I asked the attendant but I was told that only 2 shrimps are added per dish. After looking hard, I found exactly 2 miserable sized shrimps.As I dont like eating chicken, I just couldnt finish the food which a terrible chicken smell. I did point this out to the attendant as well.Having had this dish in London several times, I had difficulty to understand the scarcity as customers are given the choice of having shrimps over the chicken.My suggestion is that your menu should clearly mention it to enable customers to choose a shrimps or fish dish.I am sorry to say but both of servers did not offer any alternatives or replacement.

Went there for dinner with my family and it was goid. Second time, ordered using app and found that menu is extremely limited and so much more expensive that dining in. Cant understand why. Also who sends gyoza order without ponzu sauce? That just killed it. Todays experience, tried to do a phone order and the person answering was very short and despondent saying that I couldnt order directly with the restaurant and had to be subjected to a third party app to place my order for pick up. I explained how the menu is limited and apparently their to-go menu when ordered IN the restaurant is also limited. I cant even figure out why that would be the case. If you have issues with people placing orders and not showing up, have them pay with a credit card over the phone. I have over 30 years of restaurant experience and never have I encountered such poor taste in customer service over a freaking phone order as I have today.

I visited Ebaes after a day of pounding pavement, starving, so I had very low standards for nourishment at that point and I left incredibly dissatisfied. Im a fan of good restaurant ramen and, since its a prominent item on their menu, I quickly decided that I wanted a big ol bowl of nice, soupy ramen. I was so hungry however, that I couldnt decide what kind I wanted: original (marked as a specialty), or spicy cha-siu tonkatsu ramen. I decided to consult my waitress for her opinion and, after a far-too lengthy conversation about the flavors and heat levels I decided on the spicy char-siu.Immediately after the words came out of my mouth, the waitress said oh well were out of the char-siu - is chicken okay? No. No it is not. Furthermore, why did you waste my time piddling around telling me about the ramen without mentioning that you were out of a crucial ingredient? Genuinely idiotic service aside, I ordered the decidely less appealing sounding Original Ebaes Ramen with shrimp. I also listened in to my friends orders. The waitress actively advised my friends against a few sushi items (big red flag) and helped them select other dishes - as well as a bottle of pink sangria.The ramen I received was described and prepared thus: spicy & creamy shrimp broth with choice of chicken or shrimp, green onion, tomato, mushroom, coconut milk, no curry. Does this sound like ramen? No? Well its probably good that it didnt taste much like ramen then. Not only is the combination is odd to begin with, but it arrived tepid, and it was badly made. The shrimp were tough, the noodles were overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside (how they achieved this feat, I have no idea), the topping freshness was inconsistent, and it was overall very sweet. I remember there being corn in there, despite it not being listed on the menu, but that could be because it reminded me of canned creamed corn in its sweetness. I dont even know what this dis is supposed to be.Also, as an aside, the sangria that my friends ordered was also disgusting. We all agreed that it was a lot of Welchs apple juice, a little cheap wine, and a ton of ice. It was like something youd order in a nightmarish tourist trap that mostly serves cruise ship tours on their day trip.Honestly, thats probably a good description of all the food I sampled there. Trying way too hard to be unique, while totally sacrificing the original point of the dish, and completely let down by the chefs actual cooking ability.
