What a treat! Everytime Ive been here Ive always been impressed by the selection, the atmosphere, the pricing...its all so great! Id highly recommend the Dragon Egg dish!
We went for happy hour and got a great deal on a wonderful meal. Everything was delicious and there was nothing left to take home.

The restaurant changed from what I was accustomed to. The interior has been changed so I am assuming their may have been a change in ownership. Service is still on par but I felt the quality of the sushi has changed. I now would change my ⭐ rating to a 4. Also, in the past the place was always packed with needed reservations, now we walked in and were seated right away. Looking around during the visit quite a few tables were empty. I may be wrong but I would think twice next time since for me its somewhat out of my way. Sorry JP.
Food was great and our waitress was fantastic and helpful. Unfortunately when we walked in the door we were greeted with two employees displaying attitude towards me and my wife for what seemed simply just walking into the restaurant. Now I dont know what kind of day they had but it was almost enough to call off our date night at Japanese blossom.Hostess after very visibly being annoyed that we walked in asked us what we wanted in a displeasing tone.Im not expecting the red carpet and treated like royalty. I was just expecting at least friendliness and professionalism.Also seems the front entrance is also a employee break area which was a bit off putting. If it wasnt for the our waitress and her friendly and helpfulness demeanor would would have left before ordering.So overall food is fresh and tasty and came out quickly. Just dont expect to be treated like a customer at the door but more like a burden.
The Killer Roll is so good, its just the right blend of flavors. The veggie options are really solid also. We shared the tempura banana and apple with ice cream and we still couldnt finish it. Love this place!
Simply the best. Great sushi, an awesome collection of rolls with combinations of baked freshwater eel, shrimp, crab, raw yellow fin tuna, etc. The quality and preparation is outstanding. They do serve alcohol. Table service is well done. Its expensive, but you can have a really nice evening here. Its a small place. It gets pretty busy Friday and Saturday for dinner. We love it.
December 19 2022, got a teriyaki salmon, gyoza, the spider, and the pepper fin. The gyoza were good but sauce was weirdly odd. The pepper fin fish was cut too thick to be able to enjoy the fish with the sauce without the fish overtaking the sauce. The teriyaki salmon was thick, sauce was super salty and not sweet at all like how it should be. Can’t even start with thinking if I had gotten the chicken teriyaki and it was salty. The coleslaw didn’t have enough sauce, and then the teriyaki salmon was brought out by an older asian lady waitress who seemed like she didn’t know where the food she was bringing out was going to which table. The Asian waitress was waiting for some type of confirmation before she put the salmon teriyaki down on the table. The unagi sauce on the spider was salty too, no sweetness at all and size of the sushi roll was too big to be bite size. The ratio of rice to the insides were ok. The tables were very close to the other tables and another customer was staring at my partner. No parking, space was crowded with no wheelchair accessibility, the menu didn’t have enough options, and only one vegetarian roll. I spent $82 and was very disappointed. If you want sushi I would recommend going to Genkai by mangrove or rice bowl.

Lots of money for very little food, dropped $100 & left hungry. Under cooked tempora and burnt crunchy (cut thr roof of your mouth) Goldie locks roll. Definitely going to skip this place in the future. Server was nice.

This always been the best sushi restaurant in town. It still is. Freshest ingredients. Wonderful presentation. Friendly and helpful staff. You are sure to have a delicious meal here. Make a reservation as the wait can be long.
Decent food, decent price, but nothing special. I remember them being a lot higher quality. The sushi was fine, definitely wasnt bad, but it didnt stand out as anything special. Couldnt really taste the fish and it was mostly rice.Also, you cant order online and calling in the order and paying ahead of time took about ten minutes, and the wait was about an hour.Nothing terrible or catastrophic, but not outstanding enough for 5 stars.
This place used to be one of my favorite places with fresh tasty great food. My mom has been going for years. She went to pick up some food. My mom accidentally forgot to pay. But paid right away once they told her she forgot. My mother being a very very nice senior citizen. Obviously made true mistake. Well then they told her she was not allowed to come back. This is why they get one star.
We ordered 10 items, and upon pick up of our order, two items were missing. The young lady that was helping us was able to expedite the missing items quickly. The sushi was delicious. Will definitely order again. I also look forward to eating in the establishment in the future. Thank you for making my birthday dinner so yummy.
We had a great experience my granddaughter came to visit with my great granddaughter and was impressed with everything. My 5 year old great granddaughter said she have the restaurant, the food, and the waitress named Rebecca 5 stars with 2 thumbs up. And she insisted that we were coming back later. Thank you to everyone. If your reading this to see if you would like it yes its good. Being 5 and they are usually picky eaters she ate almost everything on the plate and it was arranged to look very appetizing she loved it. 😍
Very nice Japanese restaurant in Chico. The sushi was tasty and fresh and the flavors of the rolls were really good. We were in a bit if a hurry so I forgot to take any pictures of the rolls we had but the one with jalapenos in it was the best of the lot. Also had some hot sake for happy hour and it was delicious as well. The wait staff and support staff were very attentive and friendly. I never had to wait for a refill of water or to clear off dirty plates. I would definitely go here again next time I go to Chico...it was very good.
I have been told many times that this is a fantastic place to get sushi in Chico but we never ended up going cause they can be very busy. Well now I understand why; they are amazing!The gyoza and sushi that we had were so good, the fish was so fresh and the staff was so kind even though we came in 30 minutes before they closed for the afternoon.I also was told they do reservations, so that might be the way to go!
Love, love this restaurant and go there at least twice a week. But I think they need to be more efficient when it comes to taking orders over the phone. I waited on the phone 23 minutes to be told my pick up order could take up to two hours. You guys need to create some kind of a system that takes care of over the phone orders. Your restaurant is amazing and during this crisis, I think it is a great opportunity to reinvent yourself when it comes to taking orders over the phone.
This place has a very unique dining experience. From the moment you walk in the environment is friendly and speedy. This place is very busy and popular so you must, I repeat MUST have a RESERVATION, to dine here. So call in advance. I promise it is worth it. Overview of my experience was that amazing service all around and fresh dishes. The quality was phenomenal. The table cloth for your table is paper and they hand you some pencils, markers, and pens to draw with. The idea is to have fun, eat great food, and create a memorable experience that you get to take home with you via paper table cloth. :) cool idea.
Ever since Japanese Blossoms got a bunch of investors the management has gone downhill, sadly. On our last visit one of our party ordered the salmon and asparagus. The dish was a giant pile of plain white rice with a tiny piece of salmon and ONE asparagus spear. One is a garnish not a description of the dish. Management wouldn’t make it right. For $30 you can do better. High turnover and inexperienced servers also indicates they treat their people poorly. Goodbye Japanese Blossoms, we won’t be coming back.

Very good selection of tasty dishes. Getting orders may take some time when they are busy, so call far ahead. When they are busy, it can be difficult to find a parking spot. There is a limited amount of street parking.
I really liked this place. I got there around 5 on a Saturday, and the wait was only about 10 minutes. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was good. I got some tuna and garlic nigiri and one of the custom rolls. They were out of some seafood and Orion beer, but I was still able to get some good food and a Saproro beer. I finished the meal off with some green tea ice cream. Altogether, just under 40 dollars for the dinner. If you are looking for sushi in chico, try Japanese blossoms out. I would recommend trying to get a reservation.
Had a terrible experience with a to go order, I placed my order and was told it would be a certain amount of time. I waited for that alloted time and headed in for the pick up. I ended up waiting triple that amount of time. I had a family that was waiting at home and wanted to treat them but it turned into a nightmare. Employees shouldnt give specific times to come pick up if theyre not sure. It wouldve been easier to tell me that and I couldve gone elsewhere instead of having to wait so long. I live 30 minutes away so I couldnt just go home and wait either. If you want to order to go, I suggest ordering at least 2 hours before you plan on eating.
The chefs are outstanding. They know their craft well. Youll definitely find your favorite roll, but theyve got several of their own creations that are awesome. Ive never encountered anything but the most attentive and friendly wait staff. Even when its been packed, there was never a long wait for the food to start arriving.I always make it point to come here when Im in town.
The food was phenomenal. I enjoy the four roles. But I have purchased three of them at happy hour prices and was charged full price for all of them. It may only be $2.25 but its still the fact that I went there during happy hour and did not receive happy hour prices.
This is a tough one. I think they have great food, although Ive only had their sushi and rolls. -which they have any Norman selection. It seems more flavorful than other sushi. Its also served at a temperature much closer to room temperature. That may be the difference. Havent really had any of the other entrees; will do that as I go there more often. Only downside is that this place really packs them in, and while the service doesnt suffer, the main dining room can get quite hot and steamy during the dinner hour for some reason. I dont know if they just dont have control over the AC, or its underpowered or what. But that was a problem on both of my dinner visits.
Very nice ambiance with great menu choices. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Will definitely return. Great little sushi place! Very quaint, good food good service and paper table cloths for the kids to draw! Great variety of rollls, something for everyone! A must visit if you like sushi! Join these folks between 5-6PM week days for a really good HH. We got 4 rolls, a seaweed salad, and 2 drinks for a pretty reasonable price. We left full and happy. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed
My daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful meal together. Great sushi selections, wonderful home made deserts. The atmosphere was perfect for an evening out. I suggest the sushi bar if you have never seen sushi made, it was a great experience for my 13 year old daughter who loves sushi dishes.
Unique menu for all their rolls. They have a flip book with a description and picture on each page. Their regular mine was good with traditional american japanese and some authentic style japanese food. I enjoyed the atmosphere. I do with the tables were further apart but they did well to keep everyone distanced and provide efficient service.Other than my drink having more ice than liquid the food was great and affordable.
Service was deficient and food was mediocre.The last couple of times we ate here the service and food have gone way down hill. Original server completely screwed up our order and the replacement server had no idea what was going on. I am sure that cut way back on the menu because all they have now is the basic rolls, nothing like they used to have. We’ll never go back there again.
The great sushi Ive had in town. Plenty of variety finesse and freshness. The sushi is always if the highest quality and presented beautifully (albeit better when its not takeaway, thanks COVID). The Gabby roll is a favorite in the family and all the nagiri that weve tried had been succulent. This is a treat every time we have the opportunity.
Im really sorry I dont like writing bad reviews but I really hope this can help the establishment. We went at about 7pm on a Wednesday night and it wasnt crowded, maybe 3 or 4 tables. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated, no problem. Then it took about 10 minutes for our server to get to us with water and menus, despite there being at least 3 servers I could spot, which was a bit odd.They didnt have the braised short rib at 7pm on a Wednesday night when they open at 5pm... did someone forget to prep? I ended up ordering a chicken teriyaki bowl instead. Our appetizer (gyoza) took 30 minutes to get to us and it arrived lukewarm at best. Our waiter also accidentally spilled sauce on the table, which is no problem, but then didnt get a napkin or anything to clean it up with or let us clean it with.Dinners were salmon teriyaki and the chicken teriyaki. Salmon was very over cooked (near white), bland, and the tempura asparagus was soggy. My chicken teriyaki was chopped up bits of a chicken thigh that probably amounted to less than a cup, with 3 cups of rice. The chicken thigh chunks were surprisingly dry and was bland as well, I didnt eat most of it. Both of us got the cabbage salad which was good when it had dressing, except for only the top of the bowl did.We ordered our desserts when our dinners arrived in order to hopefully speed up service, which it did. I ordered tempura vanilla ice cream minus chocolate sauce (which comes with whipped cream and chocolate sauce but is NOT listed on the menu, and as someone with a chocolate allergy I wish places mentioned this) and my boyfriend wanted a scoop of vanilla ice cream but just got a second tempura ice cream like me. There was very little ice cream and it was not tempura... it was covered in, what tasted like, store bought cake, then deep fried. I felt a bit misled with the description on the menu... I left $90 short, hungry, and disappointed. I really wanted to like this place but it just fell short this time and a previous time we went.
The sushi was delicious. Every roll I tried was my favorite. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the Killer or the Lassen roll.Side note, they are extremely slow. Every time I order out Im waiting for twice their estimated time. They tell me 40 minutes but I wait an hour and a half and its happened multiple times.
I came here with my little niece and I was very impressed. I tried:Special Veggie RollNorthern Lights Roll lunch special with soup and salad (both DELICIOUS)Fancy Veggie RollNorthern California RollTempura Shrimp and Veggiesand a kids tray of Teriyaki Chicken, rice and California Roll,and had not one complaint. Everything was fresh and the rice was cooked perfectly!For prices, that was all $55 and worth it all.I highly recommend the Fancy Veggie Roll!The atmosphere and decor is very nice and clean, and the server was sweet. She did accidentally order one wrong item, but was very nice and didnt charge me for it.Something I was very impressed with: they had a kids tray with separated sections! My niece being autistic, she very much appreciated the food not all touching :)I would recommend this place for sure!
One of the best sushi restaurants in Chico. The quality and selection is what sets this place apart. This is definitely a more upscale sushi experience compared to other sushi restaurants in Chico but it definitely provides a casual and relaxed atmosphere as well. Its very appropriate for date nights but also family gatherings. Wait times vary so it doesnt hurt to call ahead.P.S. I dont eat fish and I have plenty of options to choose from and they allow tofu instead of fish on some of the rolls that arent already vegetarian.
Always 5 stars. The best sushi in Chico by far and while its unfortunate they dont Doordash, its hard to beat the quality of fresh sushi.They currently have safe inside seating and some outside tables that could use some better shade.
I was staying nearby and decided to try them, on a Friday night. I got seated at the sushi bar within a couple minutes, even though the place was packed. My sushi started coming out in less time than it took to order it. I really enjoyed their special rolls, and the chefs were pleasant to talk to. You can order over the bar which saves time of having to wait for your server, and allows you to chose new rolls whenever youre ready. I will absolutely return there.
Best sushi in Chico! I always love a good sushi joint and I tell you what folks, this is it. I always get a California Bad Boy roll and its legit. Sapporo on tap, and a Chico twist on traditional sushi rolls? What else could you ask for. Been coming here for years and Ive never once been disappointed.
Ive been to many sushi restaurants in the Butte County area and Japanese Blossom rates a 5 star for me personally. The Sakura Sushi restaurant in Magalia has new owners and though the Sushi is still very good there are others such as Japanese Blossom in Chico that are a step above. Best sushi in town. Always delicious, friendly staff, and now always rotating at least one quality craft beer. The rock shrimp are an amazing appetizer. Raw options are impressive but plenty of fantastic cooked rolls as well.
If youre here for the sushi, stick with the rolls. They were amazing. The sashimi we got was tough and rubbery. The flavor was okay, but it was like biting into a firm Knox blocks. And the torched fish in the rolls had a strong taste of whatever fuel was used like butane, but the rest of the roll did a good job at covering it a bit.
We were able to have a great double date while dining inside during a temporary reprieve of the governors order of no dine-in eating by the City of Chico. The staff was great and the restaurant was clean which allowed us to have a great date while being able sit inside. Thank you for temporarily opening your doors to us!
Great experience for my boys being their first time to a Japanese restaurant. Wife was pleasantly please with service and quality of food. Outstanding food, sushi, and service! I ordered the tori-don bowl and really appreciated how the chicken was not dried out as i find it in other restaurants. The sushi is killer! I had the eel over a California roll, definitely worth the price.
The setting is nice and so is the staff. The food is good and some rolls are quite tasty.Unfortunately Ive come to find a few other rolls a bit lackluster. Either the flavor isnt really noticable or that they arent really working together. Keep up the work, I like the attempt your making.
Absolutely delicious food and a wonderful environment! My girlfriend and I treated ourselves to a lovely night together and we werent disappointed! It did get a little loud since it was a busy night, but what else would you expect?

The sushi and service was great. Living in Arizona we are spoiled by portion sizes as the nigiri pieces are on the small side; but would recommend for sure.
My family (5 people) came here and got seated within 10 minutes. The sushi came pretty quick too. They definitely nailed the sushi, 10/10. I especially loved the Salmon Toro nigiri! HOWEVER, the udon noodle is a complete disaster. The soup is messed up and does not taste like udon. The chicken also does not have any taste.So, overall: good service, great sushi, awful udon... I hope they can work on the udon and keep up with everything else!
Very good sushi and a very nice atmosphere. Everything we had was great. They were very mindful of my food allergies and my familys gluten free needs. They even have some yummy gluten free desserts, tho not dairy free.
Best sushi Ive eaten in a long time... 100% sustainable fish, local organic veggies when possible. Their menu options were on point, especially the must-eat miss chico! Definitely going back and recommending to friends!!

Neta is always fresh, thick, and delicious. Rice is not too sticky. I love sushi and sashimi here for the quality.The price is comparably higher than other sushi restaurant in Chico. The taste is great.We often order food to go to avoid waiting lines at the restaurant since this place is always packed.
So good! Literally everything was good. The decor is cool, the food is great, great service, even the water is above average good. The whole place seems and is very high end, but they dont charge above what is normal for eating out in general. Great place, will be back soon!
Its been a long time and my husband and I decided to get $90 in sushi to go for lunch and leftovers for dinner. When we got home we werent given any wasabi. We have never ordered sushi to go from anywhere else and not been given wasabi. My husband was very irritated, we live in upper Magalia and didnt have any at home so that was a bummer.The food was good though.
I love to travel and try new places and dont to commonly leave reviews but this place was to good to not review, from walking in to leaving was beyond a 5 star experience, the waiter haley(so the receipt atleast says) was spectacular and hope to get her next time my wife and I go! The food didnt just look amazing but even tasted better. This place deserves a 1 michilean star(is above a 5 star rating) next time I come to chico this will be a must go place for when I desire a bite to eat! The wait staff were great we were seated quickly very busy Saturday afternoon which led to slow times getting our sushi which was great! So 5 stars for overall great food and well run business.
Sushi was good. Rolls selection was good and had some unique rolls. Sashimi very thin and received 5 pieces. I from Washington State and have friends that own Sushi Restaurants.Little on the pricer side. They can get away with it because not many sushi restaurants in Chico.
The staff were attentive and friendly. The food and drink were very good, but not amazing. I ordered the veggie teridon (stir-fry vegetables with teriyaki and rice) and it was good, but I would rather not pay $12 for a simple stir-fry. It just wasnt really special. As far as their cocktails, they sound better than they actually taste in my opinion. When I was pescatarian, I loved their sushi. The Longboard and Goldilocks rolls were my favorite, but I usually felt like I needed to ask for extra sweet chili sauce. I also would get their Japanese Blossom roll or California roll and along with teriyaki salmon.
Love this place! I’ve been coming here for years. Fish is the freshest in town. Lassen roll is my current favorite. They also have secret trails beer on tap.
Great food,a lot of variety on sushi! They had a picture book that you could look at to pick specialty rolls ! Besides the menu ! Very friendly employees,and good service ! Will definitely continue coming back!🥰
Japanese Blossoms has the best miso soup in town, in my opinion. Consistency is not 100% with the preceding. One of the waiters was not knowledgeable, was ignorant, and not attentive. The majority of the staff are good, though.The owner is very nice and accommodating, as are the sushi staff. Yum. The sushi at Rice Bowl is better, but at R.B. they pulled stunts like offering you a sample or try this and magically, the charge appeared on the check. This happened twice at R.B, so Im NOT going back there. Its a question of integrity. I recommend Japanese Blossoms.
Amazing Japanese food. They are well reasonably priced. The service was very good to. Their sushi is very well presented and prepared. Their ramen noodles are delicious as well. They have trained their staff very well with kind customer service skills. Will keep going again and again all the time. Again amazing japanese food place. The best in chico.
Food was good but portions seemed miniature for the price! $7 for two very tiny nigiri! If you order carry out here know your probably wont get as much food as you think!

Came in midweek in the evening and the place was poppin. Walked in and we were greeted by funny looks left and right. I guess us 3 Mexican peeps in scrub attire were not the norm around here. We shoulda cleaned up a bit. But anyways that didnt scare us off cus we came in for the rolls yo! We ordered up like 12 different rolls and out of all the rolls only one stood out. As a sushi connoisseur Im telling you that this place is nothing special. These other reviewers dont know whats up. I mean its aight but definitely not 5 star sushi... and the service was wack. We were ignored the whole time except when the rolls came thats the only time the waitress acknowledged us. The lady still got a tip because were nice like that, but she most definitely didnt deserve it.
Our first visit here as we just moved to the area. Enjoyed happy hour appetizers and a couple rolls. Great specialty roll selection, service was fantastic! Next time we will hav ed to tried the udon as it smelled amazing from the table next to us.
I dont give many five stars for restaurants but this place has never let me down. The food is always nothing but superb! Friendly staff with amazing attention to detail. Laura is usually there and she remembers that Im gluten free. Even fills in the other servers with my special needs. Omg salmon torro!
I had a great time at the restaurant with my son. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was awesome. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and flavors and very helpful and accommodating.
Our favorite Chico restaurant. Dont pay attention to the nay-sayers (or at least, take their reviews with a grain of salt), I have always found the sushi to be fresh, creatively presented, and delicious.On a side note, dont miss out on their cheesecakes and other freshly homemade desserts.
The sushi was great and decently priced but the service was sub par. Seating three guys lower bar was a bad decision by the hostess. It took 45 minutes to get a miso soup and the check wasnt split upon recieving it despite many key factors that would suggest you split the check.
So many amazing rolls as well as the best miso in town. They definitely craft their sushi with care and purpose here and you can taste the difference. The Lassen roll is the best creation since the dawn of time. Yummmmmmmm.
Japanese Blossoms is the best place to get sushi in Chico, hands down! If you dont believe me, just look at the wall of Best of Chico awards they win every year. I go once a week or more if I can, and its always crowded. Monday night is my favorite time though, because its happy hour all night! They have a great selection of rolls and sashimi, not to mention rice bowls and great kids meals as well. The California Bad Boy is my favorite roll, its super addicting and no matter how many other things on the menu that I try, I always end up coming back to the Bad Boy. If you havent been here, I highly recommend you find the time to give it a try, and dont forget to order the Edamame!
This place has good quality food BUT it seems like the amount of fish in the rolls have been getting substantially smaller over the years and rice around it has increased. I dont think Ive ever had anything that was low standards but the value for your dollar is not what it was when I first started going.
I usually go for their udon noodle soup a gyoza. The soup is wonderful (love adding the 7 spice) and comes in a bowl so large, I have enough to enjoy the next day. The gyoza is the best Ive had in town. It has wonderful flavor and is light on the stomach. The staff is both attentive and pleasant. Havent had a bad experience yet!
I dont know why, but I feel relaxed when I go the Blossoms. Something about the vibes in the rant. Good-enough food. The most delicious hot tea Ive had at any Asian restaurant. I like the decor. They would do well to look at the menu of Mobo Sushi in Santa Cruz, CA in order to find and create a more extensive and creative selection of vegetarian sushi. Jena was one of the best waitresses Ive every experienced. Thanks. UPDATE: Sadly, I had a non-excellent experience at Blossoms in February of 2017. Heres the letter I sent to the owner in February of 2017, still unanswered as of May 2017: OwnerJapanese Blossoms2995 EsplanadeChico, CA 95973My wife and I have eaten at your restaurant at least 10 times and enjoyed each visit excepting last night when the brown rice was uncooked (hard as tiny pieces of unchewed bubblegum) and my avocado-cucumber sushi was disappointing because the amount of avocado in each piece was about as big and thick as a postage stamp:Plus we sent my wife’s veggie-disk order back after having requested the sauce on the side but receiving the disk with the sauce on the ingredients.I had posted a 4-star rating for you on yelp initially, but…Please respond. The service was terrible they charged my family for a extra roll that we didnt order and we had to legit argue them about having to pay for it.
Bomb. This place is seriously delicious. I havent tried a lot of things there yet, but everything I have had is great. Northern Lights and The Bad Girl are my favorites at the moment. The ambience of the place is great.
Honestly, it just was not good at all. $15 dollar rolls? The quality was less than supermarket refrigerator sushi. Service was super slow, and fairly inattentive. Dont bother.
Hands down the best sushi in Chico California. From presentation of the food to the Ambiance and Decor, I give this place five stars. At times the restaurant can be a bit loud but what do you expect from a popular Eatery in Chico with exceptional quality food at an affordable price.I recommend the Hamachi carpaccio. The vinegar brine sauce breaks down the proteins in the fish making the sashimi absolutely exquisite. every bite is consistent with a smooth tender texture and a flavor that is out of this world.I also recommend the dragon eggs. These have a sweet flavor and are much more tame. !!Warning!! these will fill you up very quick.Do your taste buds a favor and check this place out!

Great place to take a date. Nice decor, attentive wait staff, extensive sushi menu and many other choices of appetizers, main courses and deserts. Creative saki based cocktail menu along with saki, beer and wine. Priced higher than some other places but still a fair price.
Really expensive for what we got. I got recommended to this place as a vegan and discovered they only actually have one, maybe two items on the menu that meet the qualifications. I would rather go all the way to yuba city to Kenzos sushi than go here again...or make my own. My husband, who is not vegan, got a different item on the menu and was also dissapointed and frustrated that it was so pricy for what we got. Literally still hungry when we left but didnt want to spend more there.
I went for Chicken Katsu sadly they were out but I got some Chicken Udon and it was a big bowl. Our server was responsive and had a nice atmosphere but it is the only restaurant Ive been in during COVID
There is a large variety of rolled sushi here. Theyre more unique than other sushi places in town. Theyre very expensive but the quantity and quality of their options balances the price out.
Absolutely terrible. Made a reservation, got seated right away, but waited an hour and a half for our food that we ended up taking to go instead because of how long we waited. Used to love this place but will not go again.
Nice, low lit restaurant, with white table clothes and glowing candles. The cucumber water is served to your table. They have delicious specialty rolls and sashimi. Some rolls could use less rice.
Always great food and great service. Their waitresses are knowledgeable about their menu and what they do not know, they get the answer in a timely fashion. Nice and relaxing atmosphere.
This place has me hooked. Salmon Toro melts in your mouth. Hamachi Carpaccio is to die for. Everything Ive had has been fresh and neatly handled. Comfortable atmosphere and top it all off, good prices.
We love their generous and fresh tasting rolls. Try the rock shrimp appetizer with some kitchen rice. Yum.
Japanese Blossoms is our “go to place” for the best Japanese cuisine in Chico. One of my favorites is “Northern Lights”. Yum! Jeremy and his staff are artists! We are always greeted with our names and smiles. They even give hugs! Kats
Its an OK/so so sushi place. Wasnt too impressed about the sushi until the Billy roll came in. Its like the lion king roll that Im use to having. A lot of places claim to make a lion king roll but few make it good. JBs Billy roll is excellent. That about all I can say about the place. Spicy tuna isnt that great. Salmon nigiri was fresh and flavorful. K2 roll was interesting with the habanero sauce. Spider roll was aight. Edaname was average. Dont bother paying an extra dollar for garlic or spicy. They just sprinkle Mexican spice on it and toss it with pureed garlic that look like it came out of a tube. I was hoping theyd stir fry it, which Ive had at other places and was fantastic. Tempura was excellent but wish they came with more. Wife said sauce was the best shes had. Not too salty like some places. Overall, I wish I could give it a 3.5 stars.
Worst sushi weve eaten from Florida to California. Great service. Sushi was small, tasted very soapy and just didnt taste fresh. The japanese guy who makes sushi at the commissary puts this place to shame.
They have very good service and delicious food. And its not as pricey as you would think. Would highly recommend for delicious well proportioned sushi.
Japanese Blossom is an incredible sushi place. The rolls are delicious, and the edamame is to die for. If you’re looking for something cheaper, try going during happy hour, where you can get simple rolls at a discount.

Great clean atmosphere, friendly staff but sushi was very American. The specialty rolls were not as good as many other places. Yellowtail and salmon nigiri were excellent though
One of our favorite spots for sushi. The fancy rolls are good but do are the less expensive ones like spicy tuna roll, if you dont want to spend too much.
I had a decent lunch, the menu had a lot of great choices and what I had was pretty good. My girlfriend is big on sushi and she loved it. We will probably be coming back in the future. Thanks guys!

1hour 15 minutes waiting for 10 pieces of Nigiri that never came. Meanwhile rolls were coming out like crazy. We were told the fish cutters were new. Really?! Paid for our rolls and left.

Food was delicious. Crab wontons were a bit over cooked and filling was dry. Gyoza, rolls and Tori Don were quite tasty. Service was excellent.

My 41 year old wife goes to have dinner with my 16 year old daughter. My wife forgot her current drivers license and showed her expired one, which is a real government document. Its clearly real and shows her date of birth. She was denied a drink because of the expiration. What a flippen joke, get real. It is called common sense. And dont tell me ABC would get you in trouble cause I know better.

2022-08-08 03:24:44The food was very tasty and delicious, but I cant say much about the service there because we had four meals coming but she only brought three meals to our table. We asked for our missing meal, she said she would find it but never came back to our table so we had it deleted from the bill and had to leave with one person still hungry, very sad time for us that night. And they didnt even apologize or offer us a free dessert or something to make up for their mistake.

2021-08-20 17:22:27Date night with the wife, so we tried Japanese Blossoms. We were seated right away, BUT the restaurant was unbelievably noisy. Other than that... here it goes. We started off with the Miso soup, which was full of flavor and had just the right amount of tofu. We then ordered the Dalmon Poke, the Tal Dori (teriyaki chicken with veggies and noodles), the fried shrimp platter with fried asparagus, onion rings, and squash, and 3 sushi rolls...The Shasta Roll, The Dev, and a basic California roll. To say the food was tasty does NOT do it justice! Plenty of food, plenty of flavor, plenty of leftovers. The waitstaff were on-point, and helpful as can be. Spices, rice, crispy tempura, sushi, noodles...ALL cooked/rolled perfectly and timely. I will be back, if only to continue trying their lengthy menu. One suggestion!? Try to open up a portion of the establishment for a more intimate experience for couples who enjoy talking to each other, not listening to others talk.

Edit: I had only had takeout before which was amazing but dined in tonight and even though there was only one waitress she kicked a$$ on top of that the sushi was fully next level. Tipped her $50 on a little over $100 bill because she was perfect. Also the kitchen kept up with pretty high demand fully within a more than reasonable time frame even though we got an appetozer, 5 separate rolls and two orders of fried ice cream 😬😁 stuff was coming out every ten to fifteen mins max

2022-10-18 17:22:12I have always loved Japanese Blossoms since I moved to Chico and tried it. Hands down the best Sushi place in town. I know for a fact they utilize the freshest fish and crab as I spoke to the owner about their sourcing. Friendly staff and a modern atmosphere add to the experience. Be prepared to spend some money though as sushi isnt and shouldnt be cheap.

2022-12-15 05:20:41The worst Japanese food ever. Two parties arrived (without reservation) after us seated first. I went there today because I bought 4 gift cards from Costco, but it was a real joke. One order (Sashimi and Sushi) we order was missed but showed up in our bill. Its NOT Japanese food at all. Service is not so great either, but I left generous tip. If you want Japanese food, please go to Big Tuna period!BTW I returned the unused gift cards to Costco right away. No idea how they got 4.5 stars. Maybe different chef in different days? (I was there on Wednesday evening 12/14)
