Went here for takeout and what a terrible experience that was. We wait twenty minutes for one of the smallest portions of food I’ve ever received from a Japanese restaurant. The rice was slightly charred and the rest was very unpleasant as well. The meal was not as described by the person who was taking orders. The manager was extremely defensive as if I were lying when I tried to explain why I was dissatisfied. Overall it was horrible experience and I will never give my business to them and neither should you. We should be pleasant with one another not hostile and aggressive.

My 2nd visit. Authentic true Japanese restaurant and very tasty and reasonable price. The best Japanese place in Chico for sure!* update on 9-2-2022I was overcharged and Im very upset. My bill was $88.96. I gave 20% tip. Now my credit card bill shows $166.75. I dont believe this.One of managers Catie called me. They made a mistake when they entered the tip amounts manually. They will refund my entire bill. Glad it is resolved.

Very nice Japanese restaurant in Chico. The sushi was tasty and fresh and the flavors of the rolls were really good. We were in a bit if a hurry so I forgot to take any pictures of the rolls we had but the one with jalapenos in it was the best of the lot. Also had some hot sake for happy hour and it was delicious as well. The wait staff and support staff were very attentive and friendly. I never had to wait for a refill of water or to clear off dirty plates. I would definitely go here again next time I go to Chico...it was very good.

The food is bomb! The tonkatsu is my favoriteBroth is really good and rich. The only bummer is they dont have a chicken ramen which is usually my go-to at other japanese restaurants :(

Okay so I have so many things to say about this place, I love their boba milk tea (mocha) it's sooo yummy!!! I was a regular, and have never had any issues. The lines, as many have said are extremely long. But, it's not enough or a valid reason to give a bad review. This is not McDonald's or a fast food restaurant, they used to be dine in but since Covid came and restrictions they became drive thru, this is to show that this is suppose to be fresh food that is freshly cooked, so I kinda understood why it took so long. The people at the counter are always so nice ? it makes up for waiting in the long lines!I tried ordering on doordash, and when the food arrived it was still hot, it tasted other same as usual. A few hours later I start feeling nauseous, sick, I had to go to the restroom, and horrible awful stomach pain. I'm 70% sure I have food poisoning, but it's odd since I never gotten food poisoning before, but I've read a few reviews saying the kitchens dirty, or that they've gotten food poisoning / almost did. But also I was thinking maybe the dasher tampered with my food, I honestly hope not but I'll probably give this one more try in a month or so and see if I get poisoning, since I'm a regular and this has never happened until I ordered on doordash. Idk what to think so I can update the review after I try it again. Also I never see myself ordering doordash again, too many people tamper with food. ?

If you prefer vegetables and tofu and dont like sweet sauce then dont give a great restaurant a poor review because you made a poor choice for a meal. Teriyaki House has wonderfully grilled and glazed meat with fresh steamed vegetables and rice cooked to perfection.

Dining room was messy. Girl that took our order was rude AF. When our food was ready, she called our number. I went up there and she handed me the bag... I asked if the forks were inside she said they should be and then handed someone else their food. She asked them if they wanted Soy Sauce or extra Teriyaki sauce.I got back to my table and there were no forks in the bag. I walked up to ask for forks and as soon as she saw me approaching she dipped into the back. Took me about 2 minutes to get someones attention. Finally a guy from the back came up and helped me.We ate a bit and decided that we wanted more teriyaki sauce. I went back up and had to get the attention of the guy from the back again. He said they are $.27 each. Ok...I go back to my table and grab $.55 - I go back up and ask for 2. She takes my money and clearly making change is not her strength. Took her about 45 seconds to figure out that she needed to give me $.01 back.She the says let me go grab that, Ill be right back. She goes directly back and starts scooping rice into containers. I went back to my table to eat what I had while it was hot.The meet had great flavor. The cabbage was still slightly crispy and the overall plate was yummy.Food good! Service was awful. The receipt said Macy so I assume that was her name.Good luck!

Izakaya is the best Japanese restaurant in Chico. Their spicy tuna tacos, good service and delicious food is what keeps my wife and I driving from Paradise to eat here. This is one of the top 3 restaurants in Chico.

Ive been to Chico countless times! My best friends live there and of course, we tend to frequent the places we know and love. However, we decided to change things and go somewhere new! I couldnt be happier with the choice. Absolutely adore that they have 2 sides of the restaurant, one Japanese style and the other Chinese to go along with their menu! We wanted Japanese food so we sat on the Japanese side in a tatami room which was so cool! Felt like I was back in Kyoto again!The food was delicious! Oh my god, if youre looking for a delicious appetizer you HAVE to get the fried green beans. I still think about them. We ordered so many items off the menu, I cant name them all, but I can tell you everything we got did not disappoint! Seriously, stop by Rice Bowl and give em a try!
