I love this place, the food was so good, and I went eat often my brunch, the flavor was just right, is fast service and friendly too. Definitely recommend to everyone who like spicy dishes or mild . If you visit San Carlos you need stop on this amazing place .

We arrived at 6pm with 3 kids and 4 adults. We ordered 5 items and an appetizer but they said we had to order one item per person, so we would have to add to the order. We had all had a substantial snack and werent that hungry; plus the kids just dont eat much and we were all going to share the dishes. We left because the owner insisted we needed to order more. I have never experienced such rude behavior from a restaurant before. We instead enjoyed really good korean food 10 minutes away at Myung Dong Tofu Cabin.

This has to be the worest Korean restaurant I have been to. As a Korean, its quite embarrassing that a place like this exists. They charge $20 for seafood sundooboo and used cheap seafood value pack you get from asian market. I wouldnt have given 1 star if the taste was good. Avoid if you can.

I have not been here for about 7 years. There were (still are) not much of choices for Korean food in Peninsula. I just moved into the area. So I decided to give it a try. It was a huge disappointment. Food was hard to swallow. I would give it a one star at that time.I decided to give it another try. Mainly because I was tired of driving to Santa Clara or Sunnyvale that day. I had very low expectation. Surprisingly, Food was not too bad this time. I will not say it is excellent but at least it is average. The clear noodles were too tough. I think its soup items are good. Services were not too bad. Restaurants were almost half full on that night. I was surprised. I am glad for them. Hopefully, they can keep improving so I can come back more often. I will say their prices are pretty reasonable for the quantity and quality which is a plus.

I ordered the Bum Bap because it’s the easiest to do and every Korean Restuarant should have this basic food!It’s really bad! Bim Bap is too cold - got to ask for warm white rice to go with this .For $25 you can do so much better!Like these side dishes should be room temperature not fridge cold.All the side dishes are soft- you could add fried anchovies to give more texture! Or grilled tofuWhy don’t you give some sauce to add for the main dish ? It’s is dry and just a bunch of boiled vege ! Why is the main dish cold?? Are you saving in electricity? The side chili orange bottle dear not count !Please improve!

This is one of my favorite Korean Restaurants. Their hot soup bowls are the best and just tried their spicy fried chicken and its very delicious. Highly recommend it. Not too spicy and sweet.

It was really bad experience and I would never go back again.I am absolutely disgusted with the service here. Firstly, although you can pay for an all you can eat option, you are limited to only being able to order four menu items. On top of this, we would frequently have to wait more than 10 minutes to be able to order more menu items. Additionally, the corkage fee was an outrageous $20 per bottle, which is far more expensive than even the most high-end restaurants. Besides, even if you pay for the corkage fee, you cannot get enough wine glasses for more than 6 people. I dont think they can understand the meaning or the corkage fee. Furthermore, if you attempt to order more food after one minute of your service time ending, then you are unable to do so. Lastly, they continuously blamed the lack of staffing within the kitchen, leading to numerous delays in fulfilling customer orders even though the restaurant was empty. All in all, this was an extremely poor experience and I will not be returning here.

Final update:We tried Kaya again after several months off. The prices / portions are the same, but this time they gave us a large container of spoiled and rotten panchan with our meal. The cost cutting here as gone too far and is now affecting food safety. I wanted to love them since my kids are half-korean and gave them many chances over the years, but sadly, we wont be coming back.Update after 3 years:The food here is still good and we are glad this place survived the pandemic, but the prices have really gone off the deep end, rising about 50% in 3 years. I just paid $28 for a single seafood pancake for take out. Generally, expect to pay $20 - $55 per dish before tax&tip. We recently ordered catering for 20 people for a baek-il celebration and it was well north of $500 for basics. On other occasions, portions were disappointing as other reviewers have noted. For example, we ordered a side of rice that only filled up 50% of a standard small take out container. Who half-fills rice servings??We will still come here from time to time so our kids can get the cultural experience, but for this price we just cant justify making it our go-to when our family needs a taste of home.Original review:Nice local Korean place. Serves the whole array of the traditional Korean food. The service was great, the food was quite good, and the prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed with comfortable seating and nice interior setting. The staff were extra nice and friendly. Overall a great meal, especially given the location. I only go to this place because it’s close by where I live otherwise it would have been a hassle driving all the way to Santa Clara. They use to have lunch deals in the weekdays but now not anymore. They open only for dinner hours this days.I only wish they would still employ waitstaff from before because they provided top notch,friendly, best services unlike the ones they currently have(rude and arrogant).Dirty/dusty edges seems like they do not clean the restaurant.Food is OK tasty soup.Won’t be back for quite sometimes.

Not the best Korean food lineup but considering this isnt in Sunnyvale or Santa Clara, it does get some cookie points. Taste is authentic but just feels like it is cooked without much love or care. Price is reasonable and the staff is quite friendly. I do return here time to time just because I cannot be bothered to drive all the way to South Bay.

This is a solid 4 star place for the peninsula which had a dearth of Korean places compared to Santa Clara county and SF... maybe a 3 star if you’re Korean. The 1 and 2 star reviews are undeserved. Has fume hoods for at table BBQ. Nice, but not super fancy decor. Good service and fast at lunch... need to come here for dinner to completely review this place. I’m used to a wider variety of Korean restaurants on the Santa Clara on El Camino corridor and this place would be in the middle of the pack there and around 3 stars.

First off, my parents and I are used to authentic Korean food that is well prepped and well cooked. I was surprised how small the side dish portions were. Usually at Korean restaurants, they will serve you with a good portion especially if you’re coming with a few people. The bbq I ordered was undercooked and bloody and barely seasoned. The chicken was not seasoned at all and look like bird food. The only thing that was reasonable was their tofu soup. We still tipped them because their service was reasonable, but stay away from their Korean bbq.

The food is good and reliable and is four stars worthy but the place was too cold -- AC was either on or the heat was off (in December). Folks at our table were eating with our jackets on; we wondered whether the hostess, who was a bit on and off in attentiveness, was having menopause heat flashes because when we asked her if they can turn on the heat, she told us she was hot (although she was still/also wearing a vest jacket?!) (okay, so we believe the temperature of the restaurant should be set at a level thats comfortable for your patrons...looking around, there were quite a few.others with jackets on). The other wait staff were attentive when we ringed them (they have numbered doorbells at each grilling table) so this made up for the main hostesses other quirky hosting behaviors. Meats for grilling were good quality and the seafood pancake was worth the price tag, however.

I really love this place. The food is great and CUSTOMER SERVICE IS VERY VERY TOP NOTCH. The one thing I always notice or pay attention to when I go into a restaurant is the cleanliness and CUSTOMER SERVICE. This place is above and beyond when it comes to customer service. I went here two times, and those two times the customer service still is above and beyond. Really love this store and would HIGHLY recommend others to come for just a family outings, just a hangout place or a party place. Very warm and friendly environment. I will come back to this place. The food here is really good too and fast service as well. Typical wait time for food service from the time of order is approximately 10 minutes.

I dont have much experience with Korean bbq, but I thought it was awesome. I had a combo of mushroom tofu soup and Pork Bul Go Gi. It comes with rice and 6 side dishes and a raw egg. When the soup arrives its boiling and you break the egg into the soup to cook the egg.I loved everything, but especially the service. They were extremely attentive. Refills of tea were regular. One server noticed I needed a second napkin and preemptively brought me another one before I had a chance to ask. The check came quickly, and they processed my payment right away. Very pleased with the food and service.

Surprisingly low key plaza for the delicious restaurants. Kaya is relatively new to the area offering kbbq and a la carts options. Great place to chill with coworkers for lunch or have a nice spread with family for dinner. One of the best seafood pancakes in the area for price and crispy pop! Their fried chicken is pretty good too but come naked and have to be dipped in sauce. Only drawback Ive had the past couple times is the service is a bit lackluster, but thats perhaps why they have the table buzzers. Give it a try. Check out my pics of my fave dishes!

I’m ABC living in Millbrae and my bro in law asked me what I wanted for lunch today. Told him I’ve been craving Korean tofu recently. He told mehe’s free and can drive. He read reviews on Kaya BBQ and Tofu in San Carlos and decided we should try it. I’m glad we went to Kaya BBQ and Tofu. The kind waiter started us off with small plates of kimchi/bean sprouts/tofu(Banchan). Then we ordered what I was craving; delicious spicy beef tofu soup with rice and a raw egg in a stone bowl which keeps it hot and the delicious flavor in. YUm!! Decided to get this special soup as a combo together withtheir popular BBQ;Kalbi(for me) and Bugolggi(brother in law). Both my brother in law and I agreed that this was great Korean Tofu and BBQ(both bugolgi/Kalbiwere delicious!! U must try them if U never have!! Our waiter was also was polite/helpful. For outstanding flavor of their BBQ/Tofu and great service I would give them 10/5 if I could! The meal filled me/was delicious and worth the long drive from Millbrae! Not the cheapest but for the BEST food, you must pay a LITTLE more!

I absolutely LOVE Kaya and make it a point to go every time Im in the area. Their food is just so well seasoned and marinated and their specialty galbi is unlike any other Ive had - even in KTown in LA! They also have an expansive menu; offering more than just the normal AYCE BBQ foods you often associate with Korean food.The owner has come out before to check on me and seems to really take pride in her restaurants offerings. The staff has always been super nice and helpful, and I never find myself unhappy when leaving the restaurant. I wish they were in LA!

Visiting our son at Pitt and we wanted to try a different neighborhood. First time in strip district. Wont be our last. Loved it. Stopped in Kaya for lunch. Matt, the host was awesome... Kept us informed regarding our wait, Lunch was delicious. I had the fried chicken sandwich with the habanero honey mustard sauce.. Chicken was crispy and moist without being greasy.. Will definitely get it next time. My son had the shrimp po boy and devoured it. Husband went for the Cuban... Always a delicious choice. Finally found my go-to korean spot in the Peninsula. Ordered a BiBimBop, HaedopBop, Kalbi, and Jap Chae for my family of 3. Came out to about 90 bucks and we had a ton of leftovers.Bibimbop and Haedopbop were excellent. Fish in the Haedopbop was very fresh. Serving size was massive and had enough for 3 people.Kalbi was good. Sweeter than most Kalbis Ive had but I liked it.Staff was very friendly and helpful. Didnt try to upsell or anything.Interior is very clean and has great decor. Very polished and a place Id go for a nice meal out.

The food at this place is worth three stars. We ordered cooked Galbi and cold noodles, both are average level --- Galbi is a bit too chewy with overlooked burns, and cold noodle is only ok.The reason I gave two stars are because of price and service. We entered the restaurant unattended for about 5 minutes. Waiter comes 10 minutes after we were seated to take orders. Price is high considering the environment and service, and the actual serving size. The Galbi is a typical plate size you get for lunch, priced at thirty dollars. Cold noodle is fourteen.Will not come back.

I used to come here when I worked in San Carlos and now that I live in RWC, this will do for my Korean food cravings :)Kaya has a lunch special (even on weekends!) thats a pretty good deal. You can get soondoobu or bibimbap for $10.95. Only downside is that they dont have dolsot bibimbap for the special.We got the dolsot bibimbap and the soondoobu + pork bbq combo. The bibimbap was a good size, but I was slightly disappointed in the combo. It doesnt say on the menu that the soondoobu in the combo is a small portion. The pictures doesnt give you that impression either. The other bummer was that the pork wasnt sizzling hot, it was actually kinda lukewarm. It was a good portion size though, with good flavor. Soondoobu flavor was good as well; banchan was decent and you can ask for refills.

Great for both barbeque and bibimbap/soondubu. Ive been here a few times and tried several dishes. Barbeque is cooked at your table. You can find a number of authentic Korean drinks from OB to soju to makgeoli (막걸리). Like most Korean barbeque places, prices can be a little steep.
