I’m really glad I gave this restaurant a second chance! I went on their grand opening and while the food was good, the service was horrible. I wanted to give them a second chance as I know the first day can be hectic, I’m glad I did!The service was great and the food was delicious. Their edamame with garlic butter was was warm and has the right amount of flavor. The Chasu Buns were flavorful and the pork was cooked perfectly.. easily my favorite meal. I enjoyed the tempura and the skewers were just okay, the chicken was cooked well with a nice char but the steak was a little over cooked. Not super flavorful but I still enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to going back for some sushi! All of this plus two drinks ran us about $75.

Ordered their SEIRO-MUSHI combo B which adds the seafood to the Option A the Wagyu Beef Brisket vegetables. And a Tsunami roll. The combo B was $130 and the roll was 23 plus a bottle of soju. Based on the price I expected a certain amount of taste and food quality. First the beef was very tough. The 2 of us left half of the meat uneaten and did not pack it to go. The meat could not be a Wagyu brisket. The vegetables next to the meat was real veg. The seafood portion had 1 small lobster tail with few other seafood. To me this half was not worth the +65 also. The Tsunami roll was ok. It wasnt the best compared to similar but ok. The soju drink was the same quality! ;) but they need to learn to make it really cold. Well the dinner was a big disappointment. Uneaten beef and seafood was left there. The presentation of the main food was cool

Thought the food was delicious and unique, but a bit steep for the price. The seiro mushi was delicious especially with all the sauces it came with. The small BBQ was not really worth it considering the grill was tiny and fuming in your face. For the price, you can almost pay for 2 AYCE kbbqs.

Came here for lunch. Just had a dragon roll🔥🔥 and spicy tuna rolls. What was impressive was the service! They were friendly and attentive, we had white wine and were just killing time and they suggested a great noodle soup. One of the other workers also topped off our wine!👌 the place was about to close lunch 2:30pm but they let us know it was no rush. love it when restaurants go the extra mile. Will definitely come back!

Our 1st experience was relatively good. The skewers were tasty. Chirashi was average as Ive had much better Chirashi at other local restaurants, and they cost less too.Our 2nd experience was a disappointment. While the skewers were good, maybe a tad overcooked on the beef, the Oden Tang was a major let down. It came with only 3 types of ingredients, not what their picture shows. The picture shows multiple types of ingredients and the description says assortment of fishcakes and daikon, which wasnt what they served. We got 1 egg, some rice cake, and 1 kind of fishcake. I would not recommend this dish... or any restaurants that deliberately make false advertisements. There are many choices around the area to choose from.

Enjoyed our dinner at Mao in Dublin. Sashimi was very fresh one GREAT quality! But the staff was so friendly and helpful. Was told by another customer that there mushroom ramen is to die for.We had California roll, 49er roll and spicy salmon roll. Will be back and get more adventurous with our order! Great atmosphere, food and staff!!!

They serve authentic Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Ramen, Tempura and many more. The place has good ambience, seating and excellent helpful staff. We ordered Draft Sapporo Beer and relished their Chicken Katsu and Inari. The dishes were fresh, well cooked, not spicy and delicious.

The food is just AMAZING!! Flaming trot, hamachi carpaccio, and Maos special ramen are so yummy! My personal favorite is Mao’s special ramen. Super flavorful. Hamachi in hamachi carpaccio is super think and fresh. I was surprised how fresh it was. Our server was attentive and fast! I’d definitely come back

I’ve never tried Seiro Mushi that is Japanese style steamed dish. I had Seafood one which is a bit expensive ($130!). Seafood includes a lobster and a whole squid. You are eating steamed meats. All the foods are fresh and good. The service was not that great though.

I ordered the small grill set and a few other menu items, like the uni for a late lunch. Overall food was ok. I do think the small grill is a tad too small for a full meal. Ambience was good and service was also good. For take out, I ordered the chicken katsu which my son loved. Will definitely be back to try more items from the menu.

A typical Japanese restaurant at old location of popular Amakara restaurant. The place is spacious, neat, busy, drawing lots of customers. Relative long wait time, suggest coming early. The waitress is super busy, each supporting many customers, but they are very friendly. Food is delicious, quality is above average although a little bit pricey. Overall very good experience. It might become as popular as Amakara.

I walked in with my children. I guess what a shock. Wouldnt consider family/kid friendly. Ive had way better sushi for much less. Overpriced. Sushi rolls should always be bite-size, not so big. I got the noodle dish, mainly tons of mushrooms. Overall the atmosphere is cozy and private.

Seiro mushy was the highlight of our dinner! It comes out in a wooden steamer and it steams on the table for ten minutes. As it steams, the wooden steamer brings out such calming and relaxing aroma/steamer that makes you feel like you’re in a forest. The meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection. Not mushy or over cooked at all! Also they give you 3 different dipping sauces. My personal favorite was the sesame mayo! The servers and the host were very welcoming and attentive to our needs at our table. I highly recommend this place for a quick lunch or a celebration night out with friends and fam! Such a fun vibe here and amazing food selections anyone can find what they like!

Had a great first meal there. The snow beer isnt a gimmick, it keeps your beer cold for the entire mug. The Flower Nabe hotpot was delicious, the vegetables and meat were well prepared. Tried the chicken hearts Yakitori as well as the pork belly. Both were great, in particular the chicken heart were very well cooked. We also ordered hamachi and hotate nigiri to sample their sushi quality and we loved it. The hamachi was well prepd, butter w the right texture. The hotate had a simple sweetness that comes from fresh shell fish. Will try again and I hope their quality doesnt drop.

We came at 4:30 pm for dinner during the soft opening. The smaller menu offers enough varieties to sample the various specialties. We ordered the sashimi combo, deep fried chicken, dragon roll, skewers of beef tongue, unagi, and prime beef, hot tea and cold sake in a glass jar. Both food and service were excellent. We will definitely return.

We are here on their first day open and it was so delicious!! The staff is super attentive and friendly. Although their menu was limited, there were a good number of options. My favorite was the Ebi Mao and the Chicken Katsu. Our friends loved the chicken Karage (very moist inside). The inside of the restaurant was very beautiful. Prices were very reasonable. I would definitely come back!!Highly recommend!!

We went to try this new place near our house. Glad we did they are still in soft opening so I am cutting them some slack.Loved their ramen was fresh and light. They had better noodles than marugame in the lot! Chicken karage was amazing. The yakitori for chicken was good but I like them more charged. Did not like the shrimp yakitori.Sushi rice was a bit overcooked and did not maintain structure but liked the flavor of the sushi.The interiors are amazing and service is top notch. Definitely will be visiting again. Great competition for amakara.

Maybe this is too new! Waitress are so nice but still don’t know what to do, like our plate was full of bones and other stuff! They didn’t know to change plates! All food tasted like the same favor nothing special! Fish not too fresh! But bake rolls and fire rolls are good! And also a little bit pricey! Made people don’t wanna come back again!

And perhaps it wasnt bussers who delivered the food? Food runners? Chefs? Either way, the way it was brought out caused lots of confusion for the group, handing plates all over the place.Food was good. Heres why I deducted 2 stars: called and asked if they could seat 13 in ten minutes. Was told yes. Showed up, he must have not believed me because he only started prepping an area when we showed up. During the time he prepped, he asked THREE times to let him know when we were all there. I told him all three times we were all there. He must have not believed me because then he finally counted. We were all there. Server resisted giving multiple checks to our group complaining it would take her an extra 20min. In the end, she split them, and it didnt take 20min, altho we had been willing to accommodate her preferences. Bussers brought food to our large group and put it down anywhere and everywhere, not to the people who ordered them. And they didnt speak good enough English to tell us what each plate was so we could figure out who it belonged to. They just said yes and walked away.... Staff needs better training.

First time we came here and it was a nice surprise. Apart from only serving the more traditional sushis there is also the option to get a grill at the table with different meats, veggies, and mushrooms. We had the starter grill with a mix of things, the tempura, and salmon sashimi. The sashimi was very good, sliced not too thick and a good temperature. The meat was good as well and it was served with two spices to dip, one seemed to be regular salt and the other one something with Wasabi. The service was friendly and helpful with the menu. Well definitely be coming back here again.

The seafood fried udon is alright. Good amount of ingredients, including 5 jumbo prawns! And flavorful! But it was a little bit too wet. Since it is stir fried, it shouldnt be too wet.The beef tongue yakitori was alright. It could be grilled a little longer as the inside was still cold when I bit through.

My husband and I had a bad experience with our server(s). We were able to get our table fast but our waitress never came to our table to ask if we were ready to order, and we didn’t know who our waitress was as 3 different people were serving the area. More than 15 minutes past till my husband raised his hand to call a waitress and tell them that we were ready to order. While we were eating our dinner they never came by to our table to check on us but as soon as we finished a waitress brought the check without us asking her to bring it. Also, probably since we didn’t immediately pay the bill & leave 3 different waitresses now were asking if “everything was ok?” while we were still enjoy our night and drinking our tea at the table. We saw the table next to us finished their dinner and they didn’t get the check without asking for it. Overall we felt unwelcome, ignored and then rushed.For contrast the last time we were here at the beginning of the year was perfect!We understand low staffing at busy times can be difficult, we both worked service industry in college, but when the average bill is around $100 with a $20 tip some level of helpful communication is expected. I don’t feel like coming back, which is unfortunate because the food is actually really good. (Though one of my steak skewer pieces was cook fat and not beef, which I didn’t even bring up to staff).

Great dining experience!!Three of us went here on rainy Wednesday night during a soft opening. We ordered a omakase(chefs choice) and we were all amazed with the presentation and quality of the choices.First, all the ingredients were fresh (not thawed from frozen) and the Chef Hayashi really put a great detail and effort into each slice. Really liked the Seaweed salad with maguro and Miso/soy Chilean sea bass. They had an extensive list of sake and shochu to pair up with your choosing.Service, quality, and atmosphere all were excellent and we will be back soon.

One of my worst dining experiences. I ordered the black tiger shrimp cutlet, but to my dismay, it was filled with an excessive amount of shrimp shells. This made the dish challenging to eat. Adding to the disappointment, the presence of flies throughout my meal was a constant distraction, making the overall experience quite unpleasant.

My family and I went on the first day of their soft opening for dinner. It was super good and fresh! The service was amazing -- Everyone was so nice and couldnt be more helpful and hospitable.First off, the food was great! Even though the menu was limited (because of the soft opening) we tried a variety of sushi rolls and were not disappointed. The Hawaiian Roll was amazing and the Crunchy Spicy Tuna was very unique and great for sharing! (Spicy tuna comes on top of a chip, rather than inside rice and seaweed. See the photo ;)) The tempura roll off of the classics menu was great too! Portion sizes were surprisingly large and filling!Drink options right now consists of beer, wine, sake, and your normal soft drinks. I think a full bar is coming soon, so fingers crossed!The only thing/suggestion I would say is that a lot of the rolls include crab. If you arent a fan of crab, the options are slightly limited. One menu change moving forward I would like to see is to have less rolls with crab inside -- Variety is key, but not knocking off any points since they literaly just opened and have a limited menu.All in all, Its nice to have a new, good, less expensive, friendly, AND less crowded option than Amakara. Cant wait to see this place succeed! The owner is very nice and hopeful! We will be back for sure!!

It was okay, definitely not the best sushi restaurant in the area despite what the prices may have you believe. Ordered tonkatsu (serving size was huge! But it was lackluster), unagi don (serving size was way smaller than what Ive seen in other restaurants but was more expensive. Wasnt impressed by the flavor), and a tempura shrimp roll (faux crab not worth that price). Drinks were good, the atmosphere was great (though something should be done to dampen the noise, there was a baby screaming nearly the entire time we were there). The server was the best thing about this place. She was super on top of everything! But we dont think well be back.

I ordered a chirashi don for pickup. They had only given me one little packet of soysauce, not taking account of how much assorted fish is in the bowl. The fish was medium quality for the whole chirashi don bowl to come up total for $41. Overpriced for medium quality. The rice in this bowl was not even sushi rice just plain white rice. The rice was hard, the fish was unevenly cut. I reccomend going to Torarenbou in Dublin for better quality and appropriate prices.

Stopped by on a Saturday night for some drinks! We ordered some starters to go with our sake bombs; we got the brussel sprouts, some beef yakitori skewers, **mentaiko ramen** and o toro nigiri.The brussel sprouts were the perfect start. Crispy, light, with a sweet and tangy flavor.The beef yakitori skewers were lightly seasoned, served with togarashi and green tea salt (i think); were juicy and delicious.The mentaiko ramen was sooo goood. It was creamy and had the perfect umami flavor. You guys have to try this!!!A lot of sushi places near me dont offer o toro so I had to try it. Its the tunas belly so its a fattier cut of tuna. So buttery and melted in my mouth.It was my first time here and everything we ordered hit the spot.Not only was the food really good but the restaurant is super nice. It made me feel like I was in Japan. They have lanterns hanging throughout the restaurant that gave it such a cozy street vibe.Service was amazing as well! There were a few servers that helped us out; we didnt get any of their names but they were all so friendly and welcoming. They recommended most of the stuff we ordered so if you dont know what to get, ask your server haha.Definitely want to come back and try everything else on their menu. We tried the steam meat, veggies, and seafood combo. The meat is alright, not really wagyu like it says. The seafood is frozen seafood and has no taste. It is not worth the price for it, which is $130 for that combo. Maybe will try the sushi and sashimi and the skewers next time.

My family went for dinner tonight. Five of us not a big party but they automatically charged 18% service fee. They wont give you an option to edit the service(tip) amount. My understanding is that service fee applies only to bigger group maybe 6+ guests. Is that how restaurant does post-Covid trying to make up some loss from the past couple of years? I dont like the way how restaurant forces customers on tipping...very annoying.

Really really good food and service! All kitchen food was great but my favourite was the Mao Special Ramen. Very clean broth with a little kick of spice at the end. Im really not a fan of ramen, but this I would came back for! 10/10 Would recommend.Cute Asian chef with the colourful apron was a nice bonus... hehe :)

This place is so cool! They have delicious food in many different styles, from Yakitori to Ramen to Sushi to Shabu style steamed boxes that cook with at your table. Oh and they have Japanese bbq as well! Can’t wait to go back and try the steam box. The service is also spot on and the vibe is great. Highly recommend!

A somewhat newish Japanese restaurant at the old Amakara location. The menu is quite extensive, but a bit all over the place. It offers sushi, sashimi, rolls, yakitori, ramen, hot pot, bbq grill, katsu and typical American Japanese entrees. It is great for group dining or family who want different thing. With “Izakaya” in its name, I was hoping to see more Japanese tapa dishes in addition to yakitori, which is lack of in the TriValley area.Food flavors are good and service is friendly and speedy, but a bit pricy for what it is. Many tables ordered Seiro Mushi, definitely something we don’t see it often, will give it a try next time!

It was good, but not great! Sushi fish itself was of good quality. But the rolls as a whole were ehh. The waitress only had our table and one other to serve in the entire restaurant and she still seemed too busy. The ambience was amazing. But that’s all you’re over paying for. If you want great food and ambience, stick to Amakara, at least for sushi. Didn’t try anything else.

It’s a nice break from the rushed atmosphere of other restaurants in the Bay Area.The staff are very kind and accommodatingSushi so fresh it melts in your mouth. Read the reviews and was excited to try this joint. The chicken thigh yakatori was amazing! Juicy and tender with the right amount of seasoning. Sadly, the prime rib yakstori I got, lacked flavor and wasnt as tender as the chicken thigh. The blue fin tuna is of quality, and the BSCR roll is highly recommended for the price. Overall a very nice atmosphere with attentive staff and great food if you dont mind spending a little extra money.

Came here this past Saturday with friends and the service was pretty bad. It took over 10 minutes for a server to greet us at our table and from there, the service rapidly declined. Our food came out one at a time and there were long gaps in between. After the second dish came out which was a sushi roll, I let our server know that it was not what I had ordered. She slammed the dish down and flipped through her notebook and told me thats what she had written down which I said well yes, but that is not what I had ordered. Clearly she heard wrong. So then she says, well youre gonna have to wait longer if you want that roll. At that point I said fine I will just keep the roll, I was hungry. We still had 2 other people at our table who had yet to receive their dinners and at that point we just decided to pay for what we ate and leave. The manager was very accommodating and apologized for our experience and because of that I am willing to give this place another try. The food we did receive was good.

Do not let lack of reviews stop you from going here! Our Uber dropped us off to the wrong location and we decided to give it a chance anyway seeing how busy it was. Truly one of the best things that could have happened because enjoyed some of the BEST sushi I have ever had.I have traveled the entire country, and several abroad. The sushi at MaO made it to my top 3. It was their soft opening - and with that we saw how hard the staff was working to make sure everything ran smoothly.The food, creativity of the plates, I mean I was really blown away. Quality of the fish was just incredible. We had the Alaska, Drama Queen, Palm Spring, Tuna Lover and Otoro Nigiri. Absolutely fantastic. I’m from the East Coast and was here on business but if I’m ever back in Dublin - this is a MUST!Jealous for all the locals who get to make MaO their “regular” sushi spot! You won’t regret it

I hate to break the streak of 5 stars, and perhaps we went on an off day. But service was slow and lacking. Everyone seemed too busy and too flustered to afford a smile or any type of extra friendliness.We arrived at 5:30pm and they were busy but not full. We were seated right away and given menus. It took about 10 mins to flag someone down to ask for water/tea (took another 10 mins to get the water and tea). And then we had to flag someone down to ask if we could order. That someone had to find another someone to come and take our order.During the time that we waited, we noticed the wait staff make several mistakes at our neighboring tables. Twice, they dropped off a dish that the table didnt order, so it got taken back (or maybe to the actual table that ordered it?) And another table had to call someone over to dispute a dish on their receipt.Our food came one at a time. Presentation was nice. We had to ask for soy sauce. Sashimi was fresh. The rice on the rolls were a bit mushy.When we ordered, we asked to keep a menu so we could order more food later, since we couldnt tell portion sizes. Well, no one came by to see how we were doing at any point, so after waiting around once we finished off our food, we decided we had had enough waiting. Had to flag someone down for the bill.We werent quite full so ended up across the parking lot to get boba and ice cream.I realize they just opened and are still getting the hang of things. So maybe well try again on a less busy day and time. But for now, it was a meh dinner.

Everybody working here looks like it is the first day on the job. Sushi chef way slow, bus boy is lost, doesnt know how to clean tables off, slow service. All bad for us, 2 of us got food, then 3rd person we were with waited and waited 25 minutes for her plate and ended up dumping order. In other words, service is TERRIBLE!

Don’t come here for Ramen. Sushi was ok, Takoyaki good. Understaffed for service, so it’s a bit slow. The guy handling water was top notch and very kind. I think the place tries to do too many things.

Echo the others calling out slow, uninformed servers. Waited 30 minutes for a to go order. Host was new, other server told me to use a defunct QR code to access the menu, told 10 minutes then 25, and server at the bar couldnt recommend a sake.Had high expectations and left disappointed
