The Chicken Bowl

Looking for something to eat thats absolutely delicious and healthy! Eat here and the prices arent bad, because its worth the taste or, tastes for this amazing food flavor because once you start, you wont stop, you wont be able to put the fork down and if my 14 year old says; Yoshinoya has nothing on them. Trust his taste buds because he is picky when it comes to going out to eat because hes so used to my homemade cooking and baking. Hes ready to go back for 2nds! ? The gentleman who answered the phone to place our order was very helpful and patient because it was our first time ordering here.

So we saw a review done by Grub with Greg, a guy we follow on Instagram. Usually, the foods he reviews look amazing - which was the case with Miki Chans.Well, we were kinda disappointed from the moment we walked in. The place was kinda dingy looking, crates stacked at the entrance, and chairs lined up to keep you away from the glass case where the foods were. Some of the foods that were recommended by Grub with Greg didnt look very fresh - like they had been sitting for a little while - like the ribs, which I was looking forward to trying, but they didnt look very appealing. We ended up getting a two item meal with the Hawaiian noodles with pork, the BBQ pork and teriyaki chicken. I also got a side of orange chicken and a chicken eggroll -- our food came to 18 dollars and change. The noodles were just ok, the BBQ pork was disappointing since it really looked good, but it was so dry, the teriyaki chicken was tasty and not dry, and the orange chicken was just ok. The chicken egg roll was just ok - I didnt really notice chicken - it did had a strong ginger flavor though. We picked up our food around 7pm - possibly if you get there earlier, the food might be a little fresher. It seems that people like this place, so I guess we just caught them at an off time. The lady behind the counter was very nice! I really wanted this food to be amazing because she was so sweet! Kinda bummed it was such a disappointment!
Paradise Buffet Montebello
875 N Wilcox Ave, Montebello, CA 90640, United States
People kept talking about the cotton candy, but where was it?!?!¯\_(ツ)_/¯Otherwise, dessert was not bad. Another reviewer mentioned it was frozen and wet? Not when I came for lunch. Not a bad selection of dessert items.Food choices werent bad either. You have an assortment of sushi ?, but no sashimi. The rolls, Im normally not into. Its just rice with a slight bit of something on top drowned in sauce, so it was standard. Most buffet sushi arent that much better than grocery store quality, but this is better. At the sushi station, the boss-guy was trying to look to the lady in Spanish, but she told him straight up, so couldnt understand him. Not sure if he was being mean and stern, or concerningly stern. Eventually, she was able to figure out what he was saying.Anyways, their fried chicken was OK. Most other places are super dry after a while, but when I got here, it wasnt at that point. Just a bit dry, but not too much. The fried crunchiness of the crust is still there. The unique thing is they have a Mongolian grill. My friend recommended getting two bowls, one for all the meat, and then he other for the noodles. I just added some Chilli oil, but this is the first time Ive done this. Next time, I wouldve added just a bit more of the powdered seasonings, and a bit more soy sauce for flavoring. But still, not bad. Most other similar type of grills have 2 or 3 people moving things around the circular grill, but on the weekday lunch I was there, it was just one lady. So no ring-around-the-posy cooking. If there was not though, Im sure I wouldve had more seasonings and flavors picking up from the grill, than if it just sat there.Overall, reasonable prices. Not bad!
Hilton Garden Inn Los Angeles Montebello
801 Via San Clemente, Montebello, CA 90640, United States
Last night, we had a retirement celebration and everything was perfection with a cherry on top!Food:Shrimp cocktails. It not the old school presentation that you would normally imagine. They had individual plastic cups with a HUGE shrimp, sauce with a lemon and chive for presentation. I don't think I have ever seen a shrimp that large and by the taste you know the shrimp was super fresh. The event staff was walking around with the shrimp cocktails and the guests grabbed them so quickly.Chip and Dip Station. The chip station was popular. It was a nice snack as guest mingled and chatted.Charcuterie Platter. There was a big variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, and crackers. My favorite was the display of honey with the actual honeycombs. The presentation of the Charcuterie was fantastic.Taco Station-They had a taco station with all the toppings. The proteins were chicken and beef. The chicken was soft and tender. The beef was cooked to perfection. I got creative and used the cheese from the taco station, the chips and chicken to make loaded nachos!Pizza Station-they had 2 ovens at the venue making fresh pizzas for all the guests. They had several options for toppings meats and veggies. When the pizza was done, I grabbed a slice and it was so good. The cheese was nicely melted, and dough was the perfectly cooked with a generous load of toppings.Dessert Bar-Oh my goodness…this is where I completely gave up on my diet. The COOKIES are soooo good. Its hard to explain how good it was but here is my attempt. The cookie was crisp on the outside and soft gooey on the inside. The cookie was made in house because I haven't tasted a cookie this good in forever. I started with one cookie and ended up eating 5. Yes…5 cookies in one sitting. If the Hilton Garden Inn opens a cookie stand, I am there! I would definitely buy them by the case load. They also have brownies that were made in house and got good reviews by the guests. I was so focused on the cookies that I didn't have room for brownies. Its on my to-do list for our next event. They have the option of having the cookie and brownie by itself or they prepare chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich and brownie a la mode. Im craving the cookie right now….Venue:We had it outside in the courtyard and it was gorgeous. It was an evening event so the event team had heat lamps thought the venue and it was just what we needed when the sunset. As the guests walked into the venue, the focal point was the fireplace. It gave the celebration a warm atmosphere. The backdrop of the courtyard was the gold course. The greenery made the event very zen.Event Team:Arturo is the best! He was always walking around making sure all the guests had food and wine. When my glass was empty, I turned around and he was there with a full glass. He was so attentive to all the guests and it made a huge impact on the guest experience. The rest of the event team made sure there was always food available, all the empty plates were taken away quickly and kept the floors pristine. Occasionally, guests have food crumbs or napkins fall on the ground but the event staff was quick to pick up and made the event classy. All in all, I was beyond impressed with the service and quality of food that was presented. Every guest said everything was on point and had a great time. My one tip – get the COOKIE!!! Best cookie you will ever have.
