Zen Sushi and Gourmet Asian Cuisine
2650 Foothill Blvd #3510, La Crescenta-Montrose, CA 91214, United States
Yummy sushi place. We come here fairly often. My favorites are the spicy tuna crispy rice and the Heart Attack roll. Its not cheap, but I wouldnt say its overpriced either. Good sized portions of fish. I wish they had a little more diversity in their rolls. I love me some spicy tuna, but it seems that most of their rolls feature it in different ways. The only thing weve ever had an issue with is the eel. It can be hit or miss. When its good, its really good, but when its bad, well, not so much. Overall, though, we have friendly service. Its usually busy, but not packed. Weve tried 4 different sushi joints since we moved up here and Zen is our favorite so far.

Tickle Tree Caf

I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Tickle Tree on our interview date.Located in the heart (and heat) of the valley lives Tickle Tree Café, a cozy spot that is equal parts adorable and mouthwatering! From classic coffee options to scrumptious fan-favorites, locals and visitors alike should have no problem finding the perfect combo of food and drink. I went back to my college fave, the Americano, but opted for the iced version with soy milk and a significantly less amount of sugar. Had I not have already eaten before I got there, I so would have devoured one of their appetizing looking brunch options. Now, apart from a great menu, what makes this shop special is its overall atmosphere and design. From the moment you even step into the parking lot, you can just tell that you will have a pleasant experience, and their wonderfully happy staff is a great group of friendly faces to welcome you for however long your stay may be. Enjoy your delicious noms in the air-conditioned indoor seating area complete with warm neutrals with pops of sunny yellows and aluminum seating, or relax and enjoy the sunshine in their decently sized patio area under the shade of umbrellas that perfectly match the Tickle Tree color scheme.
Mochinut La Crescenta

I have not try a bunch of things from the menu, because i keep ordering the same things when I go. We had a box of doughnuts, different flavors, and my go back to is the strawberry funnel flavor, now .. the hotdog with melting cheese is unreal, the outside crust so crispy and sweet, melting cheese and the hotdog at the end, needs to be try so you can enjoy the best of it.We also get the ube drink with boba.. made in house, beautiful purple color, is delicate and delicious. You need to go, there is a good amount of items in the menu, but, the hotdog go fast during the week, because high school kids take them all after school.
Fosters Donuts
2601 Foothill Blvd, La Crescenta-Montrose, CA 91214, United States
Growing up there were two places wed get donuts from. One was here, at Fosters Family Donuts and the other was at a Chinese take out place down the street called Chores. That one was convenient because it was a little closer, but the donuts werent as good. I have since wondered how the owners decided on the name Chores for their little Chinese take-out place. Was the guy who opened it just so surprised and sick at the amount of chores he had to do to run a restaurant that he sarcastically called it Chores because thats all it was to him? Chores was right across the street from a KFC that my dad absolutely hated. Now you have to understand my father was always a very even-tempered and patient man but the one thing that could always get him mildly-frustrated was having to go to that KFC. His main complaint was that every time he tried to order a specialty item like popcorn chicken theyd say Oh were out of that like, every single time. Hed always come out of their just bitter and flustered which was funny because he was still holding a bucket of thighs and drumsticks but hed say something under his breath like knuckleheads! or unbelievable!.Anyway, Fosters Family Donuts. Its located in what I like to call the Saturday Morning Dad Shopping Center cause its right next to an OReilly Auto Parts and if there are two places youre most likely to find your dad on a Saturday morning its in a donut shop or an auto parts store. Or a hardware store. I swear my dad lived for the chance to drag me or my brother to the hardware store on Saturday mornings and then spend at least an hour sorting through those little drawers of screws and bolts.Anyway the donuts here are good.
Golden Fortune Express
2550 Foothill Blvd H, La Crescenta-Montrose, CA 91214, United States
Tasty orange chicken. Friendly staff. Large portions and reasonably, but oddly priced.Your typical Chinese takeout1, 2, or 3 item combos with chow mein or fried riceThe reason I said this place is oddly priced is because usually the more you buy, the cheaper the upgrades between levels become. However, between the 1 item and 2 item combo, the upgrade is $1 but the upgrade between the 2 item and the 3 item is $2. Not a deal breaker, just strange. They have chili oil and the OG sriracha sauce which was a major plus. For what it is, this place is great! It's hard to find a filling meal under $13 these days. I had a big appetite coming in and had some leftovers to spare after the 3 item combo.
House of Joy - La Crescenta

It looks like a mom and Pop Asian restaurant at first I thought it was a Chinese restaurant and I was very excited and then I saw that the menu had a lot of Korean food as well. Turns out it is a fusion restaurant. It was extremely delicious
