Uncle Yu Restaurant
30059 Industrial Pkwy SW, Union City, CA 94587, United States
A place you should try for sure!First of all. Im not a big fan of Chinese food. But today I had just an amazing experience. Also you need to understand that it is not a franchise/fast food place. It is a family owned restaurant.Pros:- The amount of food is way more than I expected!( Huge portions of meat and side)- It is just my opinion but it seems like I find a perfect balance of spices!- Price is pretty good. Almost every combination dish between $12-22.- They serve lamb!- Wait time was about 15 min.- We ordered some crab pockets.... Tastes as a dessert, unusual but good!- Nice and polite people working there.-118 positions on menu without appetizers.Cons:- Seems like right now they are serving only to-go. No opinion for dine-in.When I try some new places I always take something familiar. Same was today. We tried Mongolian Beef (In my opinion one of the best dishes in the whole Chinese kitchen) and Kung-pao Chicken. It tastes so good! We will definitely visit you guys again. Really appreciate!
Lizhou City Restaurant

I am extremely disappointed with this place and dont plan to come back here. I came to this place multiple times in the past and each time the food quality was getting worse. I decided that we will gove this place another chance and brought my family here for dinner. Extremely disappointed. and upset. To be on the cautionary side, we only bordered orange chicken and rice as well as a chicken noodle dish. Ive had orange chicken when it was freshly made here and as well as when they didnt make it fresh. This time was the worst. The sauce tasted like it was a day old or longer, and the chicken also tasted like they had just microwaved it. The noodles were the worst. The chicken tasted like it had spoiled and the noodles and other contents were kind of stale and tasted like they had also spoiled. Basically they just warmed up previously made food, that appeared to be old. I told the waitress about it. She went into the kitchen and came back out. All she said was that its the same recipe and thats it. She didnt even bother to get us fresh dish. we were really upset and just left majority of the noodles and some of the orange chicken there and went to leave. She was kind enough to remove the noodles from the bill. I didnt want to tip anything because we were very upset. She became upset because I didnt tip for the terrible service. I ended up giving her some cash for a tip but honestly didnt want to. I feel bad saying this but I dont recommend this place to anyone. We came here multiple times and each time their food was worse.

Okayyyy lezz talk about DDDH. Bc omg, this was a totally new discovery to me. My east bay buds have been raving about it for a while (that it's the BETTER version of DTF), but I didn't get a chance to try it out until this past wkend for Mother's Day.First of all, Mother's Day is an aggressively busy day for any Chinese restaurant in general. But I've heard that DDDH is busy on any other day too. Insider secret (that apparently no one else knew except our group) is that you can make ressies. I didn't make it, so I'm not 100% sure what the criteria is for making one...but thank god we did! The line was literally out the door, around the corner, and then some. Honestly, I was feeling real bad for all those ppl that would be hitting the second wave. And there were plenty of them!Let's start with service. There wasn't any. No lie, we were basically servicing ourselves. Like my cousin had to go to the front and grab five extra table settings and was nearly barked at by the staff bc they said they didn't have any extra settings. We weren't asking for EXTRA settings. We were asking for one per person...odd. Also, we couldn't get a single wait staff for the life of us, but man, let me tell you how FIVE of them came swarming as soon as our bill was set to get us the f out. Hahaha I hadn't seen a single wait staff prior to that.Per usual with my fam, we ordered WAYYYY too much. Even with our group of ten. As the 15th item came out from the kitchen, it was starting to feel like we literally ordered the entire menu...which we likely may have ordered 1-2 items per category. ALSO, bc my fam has no chill, we started with our dessert first (brought our own Mother's Day cheesecake) bc we thought the food would take a while to come out. It didn't. Haha soooo we were SUPER full by the time only half of the food arrived!BUT let's talk about the food foreal. Seriously, DTF ain't got nothing on DDDH. Portions are MASSIVE. Plenty of veggie and pescatarian options for my fellow seafood lovers out there. The fish was my fav. And the green veggie one was meh. Could've skipped it. The spicy fish cabbage noodle soup was packed with tons of diff flavors and packed a delicious punch. Noodles were al dente. Mm mmm. And lastly, while the piggy buns were cute for the insta, they were a bit pricy for basic buns. Prob wouldn't opt for that dish again.Would I come again? Yeah, probably. BUT set your service expectations WAY WAYYY low. Like almost non existent. 4 starsHappy dumplin'
House of Dumplings
109 Appian Way, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Review based solely on the dumplings here, hence their name. Their other dishes may still be very good.Im a little reluctant to say that I found House of Dumplings to be a very average restaurant. The options for dumplings are average, the flavor of the dumplings are average, the prices are average... You get the point. We ordered Three flavors dumplings, Pork and chives dumplings, and some XLB. None of these dishes really stood out to me and Im convinced I can make equivalent or better at home from scratch (again, very average.) The meat lacked flavor for all three and the texture of it was a liiitttle off, personally. The XLB was especially disappointing because they were dry and the wrapping was thick and tough to eat, thus taking away what little flavors the meat inside had. They were also not very juicy either. I suspect the problem is simply that they were steamed a little too long.I think that House of Dumplings could definitely benefit if they had a signature sauce for their dumplings. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy making my dumpling sauce with the chili paste and soy sauce... But it doesnt hurt to have a delicious default sauce as an option.Service was very friendly and genuine, which made the visit overall a happy experience. I did think it was a little strange that they greeted us in mandarin when we first walked in. My bf doesnt understand Chinese so I did all the talking in the restaurant haha.Bottom line, would go again if I want dumplings and I am too lazy to make some... Also because I dont know of a better dumpling place nearby.
Maneki Sushi Union City
31810 Alvarado Blvd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Worst experience ever... I had dined here before and received bad service and never reviewed the place, and since Im a person who believes in giving second chances I decided to bring my family here again a year later thinking that their service and food may have gotten better. BOY WAS I WRONG... We came in here on March 10, 2017 at opening time 11:30am to have some lunch for my aunts birthday. First sign of trouble is when we received our food before the waitress even asked if wed like to order drinks. Now I didnt think much of it, and we didnt mind it since my family and I were there having a light-hearted conversation. We received our food and finally some water and tea when WE ASKED for some. The food was ok, it wasnt the best sushi and sashimi but we were hungry, the fish wasnt fully thawed and the crab in the california rolls are made with imitation crab meat and overripe avocados. We were the first group (and a small group of 3 at that) there so there shouldnt have been any excuse for the waitress to not be able to serve us well, what really did it was when I had ordered a togo order specifically with NO RICE and DOUBLE SALAD. The waitress went back and added it onto the tab, when the check came back to me for me pay and sign, I noticed that the itemized receipt said NO SALAD DOUBLE RICE, so I politely asked another waitress to check with the kitchen and make sure that they put double salad instead of double rice because I knew that the ticket sent to the kitchen would confuse the cooks and make them put rice. What pissed me off even more was when the waitress dismissed it and said that they will put double salad instead of rice and that the kitchen knows. SHE DIDNT go to the back to tell them and make sure, she instead proceeded to take orders from the other tables and the phone... I receive my order and lo and behold, it was double rice and no salad at all... So I took the food back to the waitress, told them that they didnt listen to me and made up every excuse they can give me for their incompetence and lack of quality service. They did nothing to make up for the bad service and continued to give me the same lame excuses. This is the worst place to eat, dont go here! They need new management and I hope they go out of business and is replaced with a better restaurant whether it is sushi or not.
Happy Lamb Hot Pot Union City
34396 Alvarado-Niles Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
AYCE = encourages food waste. This was my first all-you-can-eat hotpot experience. You select the items that you want and they bring it to your table for you to cook in a pot of soup in front of you. Without any visual cues or explanation of how big a portion was, we obviously over-ordered. Who knew one serving of beef contained 40+ generous slices of thinly sliced meat? Needless to say we couldnt finish the food. At the end of the meal we had leftovers that the restaurant did not allow us to take home. Who knew? I am very hopeful that they dont re-serve the leftovers for the next customers which means they will most likely throw away our leftovers. What a waste. I really think all you can eat in this restaurant encourages food waste. What a shame. A more sensible approach is to let customers pay for the remaining food for a little bit extra money.Apparently if you dont order all-you-can-eat, you can take home the remainder of the food. So I recommend if you must order all-you-can-eat, bring your own to-go containers to take home your leftovers. What are they going to do, stop you?Service was just average. It was not excellent but was not inadequate either. Food tasted very good but be forewarned that you will quickly exceed your daily sodium allowance in this place. Not sure I will ever get all-you-can-eat again though for reasons mentioned above.
Baby Caf Hong Kong Bistro
1749 Decoto Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
I went to place an order on the phone with Baby Cafe at 6:02pm that's when one of the waitress answered my phone call to receive my take out order. I order beef chow fun and dried scallop egg white fried rice. When I came back home and open the container, the fried rice didn't have any Choy sum (Chinese vegetable) head and the beef chow fun wasn't proportional right. The beef chow fun was mostly filled with green onion and onion. There was only six pieces of beef in that dish. Some pieces of the beef was coated into some chili oil and some shake of pepper. And I called after my dinner when I found my issue at 8:22pm to discuss my concern on the dish. The waiter had answered my call and speak the chef to see what the problem is. They didn't escalate the issue and left me to find the manager to speak to him.
Golden Bay Seafood Harbor
34348 Alvarado-Niles Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Recently stopped by with my family and i for dim sum and enjoyed the food. the overall ambiance id say is very casual and comforting (like home-y vibes) - but the options on the menu are definitely not as extensive as some other spots may be - there were options that ive never heard of but otherwise they mainly had more traditional dish options. they, however, did have a very similar system to most dim sum spots - which is a paper menu in which you choose the stuff youd like to order with a pen and then you submit it to their staff to be placed.the flavor of the food was pretty good and most of the dishes weve tried would be something wed ordered again (listed below)!- 香煎韭菜果 Pan Fried Leek Gor ($6.88)- 蜂巢芋角 Deep Fried Taro Root ($5.88)- 山竹牛肉球 Steamed Beef Ball ($5.88)- 香滑奶王包 Steamed Egg Yolk Bun ($5.88)- XO醬香煎蘿蔔糕 Pan Fried X.O. Turnip Cake ($6.88)- 皮蛋瘦肉粥 Century Egg & Pork Porridge ($8.50)- 讓炸兩 Stuffed Fried Dough Rice Noodle Roll - pricing uncertain as its not on their menu through the website but was on their paper menutips:- lots of parking available- lots of stores you can shop at before or after (a market and daiso are in the same plaza along with bakery options and more)- can fit large parties (great for family + kids - lunch and dinner)- relatively affordable for the amount of food we got (about $90 for 5 adults and please note they add in tip for you!)
Fish Day
33592 Alvarado-Niles Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
This incredibly underrated place checks all my boxes. Its close to my house, its reasonably priced, and its tasty as heck. They also put a ton of care into their food. I once ordered by phone and arrived 45 minutes later to pick it up (I got distracted by something...). They had thrown away my order because it was against their ethos to serve cold food. They actually made me an entirely new order and threw in some fish bones (which were PERFECT for making soup) for free. Even though it was my fault and even though they very well may have lost money on my order, they still took the high road and ensured that I was happy. I will be coming back here for days, weeks, and even maybe years!
Nayong Filipino
1796 Whipple Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
This is our family's new favorite filipino restaurant! Every food item is very delicious, we could not pick out one or 2 best tastes bec all the foods we had were delish! So far we've had pakbet, sisig, patatim, pritong bangus, chicken bbq. Price is similar to other filipino restaurants. What stands out were the taste, quality, authenticity that mirrors the filipino food culture, and best of all, every staff is warm, welcoming, helpful, respectful, positive and jolly! We will always come back here whenever we have (or not have) cravings for filipino foods! They have dine in, take out, door dash, food tray for parties.
